I had to buy their pizza mainly because their store was very close to my place and my kids liked it. However, their horrible service and horrible pizza quality exceeded my patience capacity and here I leave a critical warning for future customers for their welfare. Today I ordered THREE items and stopped by their store on time as their online system indicated. But they were just making pizza dough without saying any apologies. When I stop by their store, again. I could pick up TWO items but they didn't give me my third order. At home, I realized that they didn't give me my 3rd order and had to return to the store to grab it. Yet, they said, they forgot to make my 3rd order. I was not the only customer complaining of their irresponsible customer responses. They NEVER apologize for their errors. I just canceled my 3rd order. Returning home, I again found another super angry scene; The horrible quality of the pizza. They are so burnt and even they cut the boundary of the pizza, which means that they knew they burnt my pizza but still served to me. I think they may have to work harder to deal with customers, particularly under COVID-19 but it seems that they still have a sufficient number of customers. I share evidence in this post. I used to like, really like, Upper Crust pizza. I'd heard it had gone down hill but man, had no idea that it had sunk so low. I would have preferred to eat a frozen pizza, still frozen, to what they delivered to my house tonight. Cold, uneven dough, flavorless, ew! Even my kids turned up their noses. I got 2 slices of pepperoni for a quick supper. The pizza has a chewy, thin crust, plenty of spicy pepperoni. It was fine, but nothing special. Worst takeout experience ever. First phone call the man answered and was rude. Second phone call to place two orders, man was rude. Hung up and ordered online. Food arrived 20 minutes later than expected. Cold. Salads were incorrect and missing dressing, calzone was missing sauce. When we called the guy was straight up rude again. I was told 35 minutes for the pizza, closing in on 60 minutes after I order m, still waiting, I look around and realize that not one of the three employees is wearing their masks (other than around their chin). The teen at the register, who had been talking to someone in his AirPod the entire time, i am waiting while only intermittently attending to customers says "oh my god" loudly to his friend when I ask him kindly to put his mask on. He does for 10 seconds and then pulls it down and refuses to wear it, saying "it's hot" and "I'm vaccinated." I've put up with a lot over the fifteen years of being a customer from the tipping scandal to burned pizza, but I'm done. Ordered two pizzas for pickup. When I went 45 minutes later to pick them up, they had not started the pizzas and anticipated another one hour wait. Your ordering system needs to be updated and your customer service improved. The pizza has always been just okay. We won't order from them again until we hear that customer service has improved. Hate eye contact and like when a grumpy old man is on the phone and poking around in the cash register rather than treating you like a hungry customer that provides the funds to keep the establishment open... OK food, terrible customer service. I've visited this location three times this year. The first time I was told it would be an hour wait after I had already been rung up for my order. The second time was a reasonable 15-20 minute wait. Tonight was my third visit and I placed an order over the phone. I arrived to learn that the man on the phone misunderstood my order. Been going here for many years - good pizza. Came to pick up pizza's with a $50 gift certificate and a free small pizza certificate from an order they screwed up 6 weeks ago. Gave both to cashier, they went behind the counter and mumbled for a while before telling me (very rudely), that the gift cetificate can only be used online (i.e. not in the store), which it did not say on the gift certificate. Then told me that the free pizza certificate had expired (it hadn't). I complained, but they wouldn't give me any answers, and I had to pay, otherwise the pizzas would get cold. Totally frustrated. This Upper Crust location serves up decent pizza, a far cry from our experience with their Brookline location, which consistently served over-priced burnt pizza (*shameless plug* Otto across the street is a much better pizza/dining option). On this particular evening I had the small John "Chief" Bucyk and my wife had the small Harvard St. Though there's really nothing unique about the pizza or service, expect to pay a premium. All in damage (incl. Harpoon IPA, Honest Tea, apple juice, and tip): $49.90. Not exactly a cheap date night, but then again, someone has to pay for co-owner Jordan Tobins' legal bills and his hard-partying lifestyle. read more

The pizza is OK, but the service is astoundingly poor. 20 minute take-out order magically took 60 minutes. This happens every other time. Done with them. Another lovely habit they have is of burning the pizza. I find it funny that a place devoted to "crust" manages to burn it constantly. And do they ever feel bad handing you a burst pizza? No. One final kicker: the whole staff isn't aware of their specials. You get the joy of fighting with their staff over what the day's special is. My desk buddy and partner in crime at work quit the day before my birthday leaving me all alone with the rest of the wackos in our office. Thankfully, through the magic of the internets I was able to reconnect with and old friend who just happened to work down the street from me on Moody Street. My birthday was saved and we celebrated at Upper Crust. From what I understand this is a fairly new location, but from what I can tell they are doing quite well for themselves. The pizza, though over priced (loss of one star for that), is very very good. Nice thin crusts offered in white or whole wheat and delicious specials. We returned today to find that their special was something spinachy, feta-y and tasty! PLUS they have fountain soda, and we all know how I feel about that. The service here is terrific. The guy who waited on us today was very charming and helpful. Oh and there is beer. Upper Crust is officially my new lunch time hideout! read more

On my list of most overrated places to eat is the "Upper Crust Pizza". I always found the ambience industrially inhospitable and the pizza prententious with the sauce tasting overcooked and the crust lacking the slightly chewy texture and yeasty flavor that is the hallmark of a great pizza (at least by NYC standards,- ...think of Ray's, Aruturo's, or John's). So far, my two favorite Boston area pizza places are Regina's and Santarpio's. They are everything Upper Crust is not: thin crust pizza served with fresh-tasting tangy yet not too sweet tomato sauce topped with just the right about of gooey mozzarela cheese. And, at least in Santarpio's East Boston and Regina's North End location, served in a classic pizza place atmosphere of formica tables and wine served in plastic cups. Absolutely horrible service and inconsistent products. Fourth out of six times we ordered from this location the pizza was delivered with unexplicable delay or not delivered at all. The last time we were given 1hr30min waiting time however after 2hrs the pizza was still not at hour door. This place is definitely the best pizza place I've consistently been to. The super thin crust pizza is packed full of flavor that can't be beat. My favorite is the Hingham: scallops and bacon on a white pizza. Can you think of two toppings more delicious to put on a pizza? I didn't think so. I also have frequently tried the Harvard street (basil and tomato) with red sauce. The basil and fresh mozzarella are incredible. The pizzas are a little more on the pricy side. But trust me, once you get a pizza from Upper Crust, the price won't matter as much ;-) read more

I'm all for thin crust pizza. I also appreciate tomato-ee sauce on my pizza. Something just isn't great about this pizza. It could be the after taste, it could be the fact they charge too much or it could be that no one seems to give a shit in the place. People just standing around and watching t.v. We ordered two pizzas this evening. We were told the order would be at our house in 40 minutes. After an hour we called the store and were the driver left 10 minutes prior. After another 30 minutes we called the store again and were told the driver had our pizzas but forgot our address and then couldn't find our house so he decided not to come. (We live 1.5 miles from town). The store refused to put a manager on the line . The person we were speaking with insisted there was no one else in the store to speak with. Went here for lunch today with my coworkers. I don't think anyone who works here knows what they are doing. I ordered a combo of a slice of cheese and a small greek salad and mine came out last. My coworkers ordered a greek with chicken, a calzone that looked like a kid's meal, and two slices of the "slice of the day". They forgot about mine so I reminded them and they brought my over a full sized Greek then a small sized Greek, then 2 sliced of cheese at the same time. There were three people calling out names for food. It was horrible. One girl was bringing a pizza over to a table and a slice fell onto the floor and she offered some half apology to the table without offering them anything in return. Not even an extra slice. All she said was "I'm sorry...is that OK?" There are SO many other placed in Lexington center to eat, especially for lunch. I spent $10 for a slice, a small salad, and a drink. Do not order from this place. Service sucks. I love the product but delivery sucks. Inline time frame is clear transparent but in reality is 20 min far. Then doordash delivery people do not read instructions for delivery and is a text task to baby sit and guide them to your door. When you call Upper Crust they limit to say is Dootdash that driver ledt it should be arriving any time and if you insist on specifics of where the driver is, they immediately jump offering refund and cancelling the order.
