Solid food, way better than you expect from a comics store ! You'll be surprised at the quality of this place , the burger and salad I had were both fantastic.

Our trip to the Town Meeting Bistro was kind of an accident! It was more upscale than we planned…read morewhen we decided to get some grub before the Lafayette in America event - but it was a nice accident. The restaurant is in an inn and just being in the building is a pleasure. We went in the front door and asked where the restaurant was and had the pleasure of being lead to the back of the building through colorful rooms with vintage inspired wall paper. The green cameos on the front halls wallpaper were fuzzy!! The bathrooms were also a freaking delight. Great wall paper everywhere. The dining room was very beautiful with high back chairs and a fire place. They also offered dining on the porch which was really beautiful too - the inn is not secluded by any means, but there wasn't an overbearing amount of traffic, so the porch would probably be lovely. We ate inside though. My husband tried to go light and healthy with claim chowder and the seasonal vegetable. He also got an espresso. I just went ahead and got the burger with the salad. The burger came with homemade pickles which were pretty tasty. The salad had green tomatoes which were very interesting. All around I had a great meal. They also have an excellent selection of cocktails. I had a hard time choosing. but I ended up with the Rose Gold which featured some awesome rose gin. I love anything that tastes floral and this made me super happy. Also, plus points for the paper straw! Our waitress was also excellent and had a really warm persona. AND they were playing all my late 60's early 70's jams. I had a super pleasant time even if we didn't get the breakfast we were hoping for. The restaurant is walking distance from the historical sites downtown and great for a special experience or treat. Would love to see the rest of the inn some day.

I hate to write a bad review and almost never do, but our experience at this Mother's Day brunch…read morewas so disappointing on a day that is very significant for many people, I felt it was important to provide honest feedback. Town Meeting Bistro is a beautiful space in lovely historic Lexington. This brunch had three seatings. We arrived a few minutes early for the second seating (at 12) to a long line and a 20 minute wait to be seated. Our table was lovely. The brunch included a buffet appetizer/dessert component and a plated entrée from their menu. The buffet portion was extremely disappointing, they advertised a decadent spread, including oysters, etc., but it was a very modest assortment of things (no oysters, a bowl of cocktail shrimp that was empty most of the time). I waited 10 minutes for them to refill empty bagel baskets (and asked a server) before giving up. The desserts were not impressive, fruit bowl was smaller than what I serve at family gatherings. But most notably, there was a constant very long line at the buffet and most items were continuously empty (even buffet plates were unavailable twice). There was no children's menu despite it obviously being an event that catered to families with children. There was an advertised bouquet activity for children, but by the second seating, the flowers were very picked over and the bouquet apparently only allowed for "three stems". Brunch did come with a mimosa, which was nice, but service was very slow (no fault of the server, just the chaotic and presumably understaffed set up). There were issues with two of the dishes that we ordered (one was the wrong omelette, another was the wrong dish altogether). None of this would have been bad review worthy, except that the price per person was $130! For that I expected much better quality, variety, set up and overall experience. They did acknowledge the mistakes with the entrées and comped a cocktail so I appreciated that, but definitely will not return (and am embarrassed that I was the one who picked this option for this special family event as no one left feeling good about it).

Today I gave it a try and felt that it was good in some areas and just ok in others. Overall the food tasted pretty healthy despite having pork belly and chorizo. The seasoning was definitely on the lighter side, where the french onion soup was tasting pretty close to an extremely light broth. Tried the cassoulet which I've heard of before but never seen on a menu. It was very hearty but also a but bland. Pulled pork and pork belly seemed to have zero salt. Duck leg confit also very bland. It was cooked well but just bland. The dishes with citrus were quite tasty. Beets and arugala salad very good, good quality goat cheese. Alligator chorizo grilled oysters surprisingly good. Never had alligator chorizo before but it was crispy and not fatty even though it resembled bacon visually. The oysters were small, even more small in comparison to the chorizo but it was a good bite. I would recommend skipping the clam chowder, french onion soup (not really caramelized onions to be honest), and the cassoulet unless you feel empowered to salt your own food. The clientele was definitely in the 60+ range. Nothing wrong with that obviously but tastes change with age and maybe thats why the seasoning was so light. Today there were just two wait staff for the whole place. Seemed understaffed and it took almost thirty minutes for food to come out. Waiting for the check took about fifteen minutes. Staff was nice but definitely overloaded. Today was a holiday though.

We had a reservation for a celebratory dinner, and I commented to ask if the special would still be on for that date. The chef/owner responded immediately that it would. Knowing specials often run out quickly, I called on the morning of the reservation, and a hostess said, yes, the special was still on. So we got there, we ordered, and we asked for the special -- the waitress said she'd confirm, and then came back and just said 'no, it was just for that day,' which was confusing. I explained that the chef and the hostess had confirmed that it was still on the menu and asked if it had run out -- again, understandable -- and she said it 'was just something we made for an influencer.' At that point, I didn't want to press the two 'no' answers, so we finished the dinner and moved on. I reached out privately after the fact as I wanted to see if there was a better way I could have communicated to the restaurant or asked for clarification, and asked if there was a better way to confirm information moving forward, and they never responded. Unfortunately, I don't think I'll be back.

Our server Nick was a very friendly and charming person. He earned his tip at the end. Place has an elegant vibe that would be good for a special occasion. I started with the Wollensky Salad. I found the potato croutons to be interesting and the bacon lardons somewhat tough. My filet mignon should have been the highlight and ended up being a total disappointment. I ordered it medium but was instead served almost rare. Nick asked me to cut into it and he himself said that it was somewhat rare so he took it back. Someone else brought the same steak back a few minutes later and parts were overcooked and parts were still medium rare. I also noticed that the table next to me sent one of their steaks back and also leaving it on their plates after it was brought back. For dessert, I had the coconut creme cake that was really good. I'm unlikely to go back to this restaurant even with a $55 promotion before taxes and tip. I guess that I should feel lucky that is all I paid.

Fast forward 20 years, we now have one closer in Burlington and I was so excited. The atmosphere is great, it's a nice bar, the bar tenders seem great, but the quality is not what it used to be. On our first experience when they first opened we got the crabcake because that was what I used to love. It was terrible. It was like having Thanksgiving stuffing with a couple of pieces of crab in it. It was so dry and so cakey we had to send it back. But we did discover that we loved was the carpaccio, although when I ordered this, I do ask for extra toppings on it because I feel like there's not enough but overall, it is very good. Friday night we went there for appetizers and drinks and we ordered the carpaccio with extra toppings and the angry shrimp. The carpaccio came out and it was definitely no extra toppings on it. In fact, I felt that because I ordered extra toppings they put minimal toppings, which is very strange, but I just dealt with it. The angry shrimp came out and I would've thought that I was at Kentucky fried chicken and they hadn't changed their oil in weeks. It was dark, basically one stage before being burned, and there were four shrimp. Dry and dehydrated and completely overcooked. The bartender was ok about and said it may have looked a little darker than normal , he got us another one and when that one came out, it looked better, but now there were only 3, as if we ate 1 and enjoyed it and then sent it back - not the case. When we went to go eat the second round of the shrimp had its shell still on it under the batter, we were both pulling shells out of our mouth at the bar, it was gross. We did tell the other bar tender and she apologized and took it off the bill. I just don't understand for the price people pay for this food, why the kitchen can't get it right. The shrimp should never have left the kitchen that way, and as a customer we should not have had to complain about it twice. We love going out and frequent local restaurants like Moo, and Eddie V's and we never run into this. I really wish that S&W had the same quality it used to have, it was a place we used to love, but after this experience we most likely won't be going back.

Our server was friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. I ordered an Old-Fashioned and my companion a glass of chardonnay, both of which came promptly and were enjoyable. After some inquiries I settled on the self-advertised fall-off-the-bone baby back ribs. My companion asked about a favorite no longer on the menu, a salad with grilled chicken, and after checking with the kitchen our server was happy to report it could be ordered. My companion asked for dressing on the side and unfortunatel the salad came out dressed. Our server was happy to return it to the kitchen and it came out after not too much time had elapsed, the way she'd ordered it. I'm always skeptical that ribs will be fall-off-the-bone but these were close. Unfortunately, they seemed a little off; I still can't decide if they were on the dry side, lacking in flavor, or both. But the meat did come off the bone easily, so there was that. They came with french fries which were good, The location is handy and there is on-site parking. The atmosphere was energetic and it must be a popular after-work place because there were several large (10+) tables occupied. Still, not sure I would go back soon when there are other comparable places in the area.

We were seated 35 minutes after our reservation (which was 12:30 pm) and no one came to our table with water or silverware until 1:30 (a full hour after our reservation and 25 minutes after we were seated). We ordered cocktails, one of them being a flight of 4 mimosas. When brought to the table there was no description of what the ingredients/flavors were in each - which is customary to share/explain so you know what you're drinking. The server didn't know, but did bring the answers back a little while later...thank you! They were out of one of the first course items on a two-course prix fixe menu (which unfortunately 3 of the four in our party had originally selected). For the second choice/back-up course (avocado toast) it was not accompanied by smoked salmon as stated on the menu but instead shrimp and cucumbers had been added - with no heads up from the server that they were also out of the smoked salmon....the dishes were brought to the table with no explanation or apologies whatsoever. In a very odd twist that I haven't experienced before, our original server said they were leaving for the day during the midst of our service and a new server worked with our table for the balance of the meal. The second course meals were fine - the steak in the steak eggs was delicious per the two people in our party who ordered that dish; the egg dishes the remaining two of us had were ok, nothing to write home about. Sitting at our table we witnessed the table next to us experience the same issues we had...and a friend of theirs swung by their table and shared even more egregious examples like never receiving their drinks at all, among others. As another reviewer wrote about their experience today, it was shocking that nothing was comped off of a $250 bill, discounted, or some future offer made to make up for our utterly unacceptable experience - never mind that we were there for 2.5+ hours! We are grateful to have restaurants like Tryst in Arlington but we will not return (we have dined there many times for special occasions over the years) and will no longer recommend it to friends either (which I have also done many times).
