Manicurist was AWFUL. I was in pain the whole time as she ripped my cuticles off with a dull cutter, which has left even uglier skin snags. I also have no nail left. When I tell you just to even them up by filing and that I don't want them cut down... That doesn't mean file them down as short as possible. She was also old and grouchy. I was pleasantly surprised with my pedi here. I was spending the week in Houston on and had a a lot of stress that had built up from the day before. Nothing like a pedi to cheer a girl up. I made an appointment for 11:30 on a Tuesday, but upon entering, the salon was quiet. It was clean and had a fabulous selection of Opi colors. I chose the Deluxe Pedi for $35. Mai was my technician and she proceeded to give me a world class pedi. Exfoliation, paraffin wax, foot and calf massage as well as hot stones! While my toes dried Mai offered me a ten minute neck and shoulder massage at &1.00 per minute. Nice end to my treatment! Her pedi was more luxurious than those I have received at some high end spa resorts. The neighborhood is very commercial, but the spa was a worthwhile stop. Quiet and clean salon. I appreciated that they did my nails and toes at the same time in the massage chair, quicker service and makes you feel very pampered. Both girls were very polite. I did receive a few nicks from the nail buffer, however, and am bleeding following my appointment in 3 separate places. Good lower leg massage, but the "sugar scrub" frankly was very painful. I should've spoken up, so that's on me. Nails look meticulous and were not at all rushed. The most disappointing part of this experience was the pricing. I walked in and asked how much for a mani-pedi and was told $32. I selected regular polish for toes and shellac for nails, knowing there would likely be some upcharge for the shellac. I selected the least expensive pedi on the menu aside from express when asked, which was the "hot stone," listed at $25. When I got to the counter I was charged $60. I have no idea where that number came from. I don't think $60 is an unreasonable price for shellac/regular mani/pedi, but it is not really what I was told, unless there's a $28 up charge for shellac? Or it's $35 for a shellac mani, and the $32 offer just... disappears? I really wish nail salons would just be forthcoming with their prices rather than a surprise when you go to check out. read more

If I could leave negative stars I would. Worst manicure EVER! And I've had some bad manicures. I went in during covid season and was very grateful they were open as I was in dire need of a mani and pedi. I was the only person in the shop initially and 3 ladies. My service started and was ok, just ok. Wasn't offered a beverage. Water temp preference was not asked. Color selection dismal, but I couldn't care any less about that stuff as I said I was in dire need. But 2 other customers came in and my manicurist was finishing me up. She left me to start the other client while I was still under the black light with no indication of being finished or if she was coming back. My pedicure had just finished so I gave the benefit of the doubt. Then after about 10 mins I asked if I was finished and she looked and me and said yes. I asked if this is how it is normally left cuz my cuticles were dry from the acetone and the dip around was not cleaned up. She came over to put oil on my cuticle after which I asked if this is how the cuticles are left and not cleaned up to which she responded I did not ask her to do that. I may be mistaken but this is always included in the most basic of manicures. None of the other ladies thought it necessary either to try to help if their co worker was in such demand. Don't go here absolutely the worst place to spend your hard earned money. read more

I came across this place because I drive up to Kirby to get my car washed at Bubbles next door. The Nail shop I regularly went to required an appointment and they had no availability that day; I really needed a manicure. I walked in this shop hoping they would take me as a walk-in and gladly they did. Upon arrival, the staff was very friendly and immediately informed me about their mani-pedi M-W for $25. I decided to get both and get my lip and eyebrow waxed. By the time I picked out my polish color, one of the nail technicians was ready to start my pedi. They did a great job and I was out of there in about 40 minutes. This nail shop is not luxurious as I'm used to. They definitely need to remodel the whole shop. If you like champagne, wine and coffee while you get your nails done, this isn't it. I'm here weekly or biweekly if I'm in town after my carwash. read more

I came here for 4-5 years before I moved out of state last month. I have to say they do a pretty great job with regular mani/pedi, French, and shellac as well. They do an amazing job scrubbing feet and removing callouses, better than anywhere else I've been. They also do incredible designs on nails. That was my favorite part about going there. I love their Mon-Wed pricing specials on nails also. There were only a couple times I was disappointed but that was over the course of 5 years. read more

I've been coming here for several years for their good service and reasonable price. If you're looking for an upscale, frou frou nail salon, this is not the place for you. $20 will get you a spa pedicure, which includes hot stones and a foot massage. There are plenty of technicians and there have only been a few occasions where I've had to wait for a chair (and when I say wait, I mean like 10 minutes). The only downside is the parking lot is rather small, most of which is reserved for the restaurant in the strip. There is plenty of street parking but they're doing construction right now which may make it difficult to find a spot. I love this place. The staff are super friendly. Wait time is usually minimal (call ahead to make an appointment) and they do an incredible job. I usually get shellac manicure and spa pedicure. It's about an hour. But if you choose a sparkly shellac, your likelihood of waiting 3+weeks between mani/pedis is much higher. My friend and I stumbled upon this salon because the original salon we chose in rice village was jam packed. We called ahead and they were available to take us in with no wait. We opted for the mani and spa pedi which was about $42. The manicure was your usual and the pedicure included stone massage, foot scrub, and mask with hot towel. They have a good selection of nail polish such as the typical OPI, Essie and China Glaze I think it was called. Also the nail technicians didn't seem rude or pushy and best of all they were not busy on their phones like some salons I have been to. Total mixed bag, mostly bad. Pros: Becky is awesome and does a nice job with both shellac and normal manicures. She's super sweet and very patient. Cons: Added charges are tacked on at the end unexpectedly. One manicurist (Mai) charged $5 extra to remove shellac polish, which is not a policy that is posted anywhere in the salon. It's fine to charge more for extra work, but that needs to be clearly stated. She was also flat-out rude and hostile during the appointment, offended at the fact that the shellac was "too hard to take off." read more

I saw their sign outside for their new special; Mon-Thurs $25 mani & pedi, so I stopped in and asked how much it would be if I did that special but added acrylics in addition to the manicure. The lady stated it would be $50 so I thought it was a great price and she did a good job. I go back in a couple weeks for a new set and pedicure. I mention what they did last time, but didn't see the lady who did it for me last time. The lady at the register said it's fine and to pick a color and have a seat. After a short wait of 10-15 minutes I am moved to start my pedicure. Half way through my pedicure the lady from the register comes to start my nails. She began dipping my regular nail so I stopped her and reminded her I wanted acrylics. She went on to tell me that it would be more expensive, which I had stated previously that I was fine paying $50 for everything. She puts on the acrylics and when I show her how I wanted them, she tried to up the price again. So i showed her a different option and she said okay. My pedicure was finished so she moved me to her nail station. I waited about 5-10 minutes while she got the people at the door taken care of, which I didn't mind. She came back and was finishing up putting the acrylics on. She asked to see the design once more and when I showed it to her again she said she was not able to do that design. So at this point I am kind of fed up. I ended up doing simple nails because I just wanted to get out of there. I felt lied to and played. My nails were cute, just not what I went in there for. They do a good job, but need to stick to their word. If they do something once they need to honor it again. Also, don't say yes to something if you can't execute it. Overall, they have good deals and do a good job, the staff and lies is what keeps me from going there again. read more

I came here looking for a relaxation and to get a pedicure before my birthday celebration. My nice, new shoes that I use at work went missing during the pedicure after being misplaced by staff. Staff told me the patron next to me must have taken them and I just had to wait and they would be returned. It has been months and I have heard no word. If you go here in nice shoes, don't let the employee take your shoes to put them in a bag and leave them. Take them off and hold them in your lap for the duration of the pedicure if you want to end up going home with your shoes in your possession. read more

Came back today and got the exact same color - shoulda looked at the brand but it wasn't OPI or anything like that. Steven is amazing!! I'm really picky with my nails and he get them right every time. I only get shellac so I can't speak on acrylics. I've gotten a pedi with almost every lady in there and they all do a great job. Very meticulous which is what I love! If Steven wasn't there I would feel comfortable with getting a mani with whoever else was available. They always have some random day time TV on which keeps me entertained as well. I've been coming to this salon for years and I refuse to go anywhere else to get my nails done.... they are that good! The décor is a bit outdated, but the salon is very clean and service is exceptional. The prices are also very reasonable ($30 for a spa manicure/pedicure which includes a hand and foot massage). If you've pulled into Kirby Nails parking lot do yourself a favor... get back into your car, put it in reverse and drive to another nail salon. I made an appointment for 6pm for my sister and I. They asked if we could come earlier so we arrived at 5:40pm. They started working on my sister's nails around 6:05 but I sat and waited until 6:30pm (keep in mind they close at 7pm and have no intentions of staying much later than that). They actually took another woman who came in after I did first, and she didn't have an appointment. I picked out a nail color which was nice but I asked the technician if it was old (too clumpy) and she said it was fine. She rushed through my pedicure and manicure resulting in my nails looking nothing short of awful! I asked the technician to fix the clumps and she would only do one nail... claiming she didn't see anything wrong with the others. I was charged $50 for work I could have done one hundred times better myself at home... even if I were blind. They also advertise their cost for a pedi/mani to be $25, right. Oh, and they DEFINITELY DID NOT sanitize the tubs before having my sister and I put our feet in... SO GROSS! Save your money and your nails and go somewhere else!!! read more

I had an absolutely horrible experience here. My regular technician was out on vacation so today I went to see Steven for shellac. I have 1 nail that always needs a touch of acrylic because it breaks at the nail bed. He absolutely refused to put it on because he said I did not need it. I explained to him that if it doesn't get any acrylic it will break within a week. He still refused. I offered to pay him extra and to tip him more but he still refused. He raised his voice at me and told me that I didn't know anything about nails and that he was the expert. A few minutes later the owner walked in. I have been coming here for over 20 years so she knows me quite well. I've never once had a single problem in that nail salon. However, she said that I must be the problem and that maybe I was just talking too much and I confused him (ps- aside from asking for the acrylic I didn't say much else to him). She never once gave me the benefit of the doubt. I've spent thousands and thousands of dollars in this salon over the last 20 years and I was shocked at the way that I was treated. I decided to walk out and within 10 minutes I found another salon down the street called Isle Pedispa who was very accommodating, nice and did an incredible job. I will never go back to Upper Kirby again. It was the worst experience ever. I recommend you stay away. read more

Steven did a great job with my nails. This is the first time i found someone who didnt do clumpy acrylic. Unfortunately I paid $65 for a full overlay and manicure and after my nails went under the light when he put on top coat that was it. No cuticle oil no cream no hand massage. In fact he went in the back and left me to pay and take the light of etc. Needless to say I did not leave a tip. I'd suggest getting your nails done by him but not a manicure. read more

I've been coming here for about 5 years. I've had mani/pedis done by every single tech there and they are all fantastic. The hot stone is my go-to pedi. I can't speak on shellac, but I've had acrylics done by Steven and he's amazing.
