However, I do want to speak to the service we received form the person who gave us the estimate for the braces (we'll call her "Patty" even though I know that is not her name). After, not only calling and asking whether braces were covered under my insurance prior to our visit, I also gave "Patty" my children's father's insurance information. She let me know that they would be using my insurance because I was born before their father and who knows what else. I was fine with it. Patty showed me the write up of the estimate and even though insurance was supposedly added to the calculation, the monthly payment seemed too high. We had previously been to a couple of other orthodontists offices prior to having insurance coverage and the amount total price for braces given to us by "Patty" was pretty much the same. I just did not understand how that was the case. I even asked "Patty" if that included whatever the insurance covered and she said YES! I think because I agreed to having the boys get their braces while we were sitting there, she thought I was just going to sign up without questioning her about the insurance again. Something didn't feel right, so I told her I would be shopping around because I knew I could get a better deal elsewhere. We walked out of the office thinking I would just call other offices to get more quotes. When we got home, I looked over the estimates that she had given me and lo and behold, she DID NOT include the insurance coverage. Also, I went on my insurance's website and the office does not show up which means that my insurance does not cover. I would have hoped that when I called, the receptionist would have let me know that they did not accept my insurance. And even if she didn't, and we had gone through with this appointment, I would have hoped that "Patty" would have been honest and told us that the receptionist made a mistake and that my insurance didn't cover but that the total cash amount was xxxxx. Not only am I not taking my children there because they do not take insurance. Even if they did take my insurance, that place seems super shady. I'm sure this gal works off commission or something but deceiving people isn't good for business in the long run. I'm not advising not to go to this office but I would advise to make sure you read everything before you sign it because you obviously cannot trust this lady.

When I asked for an update, the oral surgeon was rude and incredibly inappropriate to staff and myself. I'm surprised anyone wants to work with her but even more surprised that any patient stays with her. If I could give no stars, I would. I plan on reporting her to the board as there were many witnesses to this. Additionally, she tried having the staff do unnecessary procedures on my 1 year old even prior to exam. We were here for an oral lesion- referred by a dentist and just had a cleaning. She tried getting us to pay for cleaning and no mention of the oral lesion. But still, most appalling was her behavior towards staff. What a joke of an oral surgeon.

There are so many wonderful things to write about Dr. Eugene Kim and his staff. I brought in my boys for a dental appointment and stayed for braces for my oldest son. The staff and Dr. Kim, were kind, caring, informative, and patient. Dr. Kim takes the time to explain in great detail the plan and approach for treatment and after each visit him or a member of his team comes out to explain what was done and what to expect. My son enjoys his visits and feels comfortable going in for treatment, he asks questions and is treated respectfully. Appointment dates/times are easy to make, the confirmation and reminders are a plus. The office is clean and modern, and the office staff is wonderful to meet with and I look forward to visiting along with my son. I called Smooth Dental and out of 10 dental offices I called, this office was the only one that answered phone, answered all my questions, and sounded friendly, I came in, got some fillings done, got my deep cleaning and they even straighten up a chipped tooth!! I could never remember the name of the dentist that worked on my mouth but he was awesome! Explained what he was going to do, he has great bedside manners. His assistants are all amazing and down to earth. He is at this office on Fridays!! My only complaint would be that the appointments are spread out for the procedures. I like to get everything done in one go. Here you come in multiple times to get your work done. I also got ZOOM whitening for $500. Wouldn't recommend it. My crest whitening strips work better! After seeing numerous dentists in Los Angeles and Irvine over the years, no one had ever identified the root cause of my symptoms. Dr. Kenneth was the first dentist who correctly diagnosed my TMJ and provided treatment that finally brought me relief. His knowledge, experience, and attention to detail truly set him apart. My parents are also patients of Dr. Kenneth. My mother has dementia, which can make dental treatment and following instructions challenging at times. She is picking up her new dentures today, and throughout the entire process, Dr. Kenneth has been incredibly patient, compassionate, and understanding.
