In 2018 just prior to a really hot and extremely humid July 4th holiday weekend my Mitsubishi A/C…read morestopped working. With each visit by my local HVAC outfit things were continuing to spiral out of control. Each guy they sent to solve whatever the problem was appeared as if it was their very first service call. Yes that's right, on the job training experimenting with my $12,000 almost brand new 3 year old state of the art computerized Mitsubishi! Finally, I had enough!! I began searching for a new HVAC company. I remembered that my family had been using Comfort Control in East Northport N.Y., but was told that normally they would not travel to Nassau County. I called and spoke with Samantha. I explained what I had been dealing with for well over a week and that I really needed help. She said since my family were longtime customers they would come over and have a look. The next day a gentlemen named Anthony showed up. I explained what had previously been done which included bypassing Mitsubishi's internal water pump and jury-rigging the computer board to force the fan to blow warm air even though the unit had shut itself down. Anthony got on the phone with Mitsubishi and began to attempt to first undo the damage which had been done. He was calm, professional and courteous and explained to me he'd get to the bottom of this. After about 2 hours he did just that!! He then began to troubleshoot what the real problem was. This didn't take much time as he discovered a clogged drain pipe and explained one of the first things any company should look for is just that!! He then blew the drain pipe clean using pressurized air. So for well over a week I was sweating my ass off because the local idiots couldn't think to try that first along with charging me hundreds upon hundreds of dollars, which I did get back thanks to a comprehensive report that Anthony wrote up for me to show them. I will always remember and be grateful that Comfort Control bailed me out of a very frustrating situation. Fast forward to Tuesday Aug 25, 2020 and my Mitsubishi shut down for the first time since back in 2018. Called the local outfit and insisted they send one of their two senior technicians. On Friday Aug 28, 2020 they responded and were not quite sure what exactly was going on however they were able to get the unit working again. I got right on the phone with Samantha and explained that I really do not have much confidence in the locals and could she send someone over to give me a second opinion. She said if the unit shuts down again she would do her best to accommodate me. I want to emphasize that over approximately a 40-year period I have used more than a half-dozen HVAC businesses in my area and discovered the hard way that each one is worse than the next and that finding a really good one is nearly impossible. Comfort Control is just that. I cannot say enough good things about Samantha, her father Bill, and Anthony. Besides all that they are just very nice folks who have helped myself and my family with all sorts of referrals having nothing to do with heating and cooling. Unfortunately for me they only serve Suffolk County, NY.

Bill came and diagnosed the problem after a thorough analysis. He took the time to explain to us…read morewhat was happening and what our options were. On installation day, everything went smoothly and on time and as planned. I recommend him highly for his professional service! One of the best contractors I have dealt with.

The first visit occurred when we realized something was an issue with our oil filter. They supposedly fixed it and also told us we needed to see a Chimney company because the Chimney connection and inner lining was shot and needed to be fixed. The first visit from Dole cost around $400, the Chimney Repair company cost around $2200. The second visit from Dole was due to our Oil Supplier being a week late causing our tank to be emptied and it required a reset of our Furnace by Dole upon the refilling, that visit cost around $400. We fired our Oil provider for causing this delay that led to Furnace work and then we noticed 3 days after this visit from Dole our Smoke Alarm going off in the boiler room in the middle of the night. Dole had to revisit, this is the third visit and apparently their previous technician overlooked that there was a lot of soot and the furnace required cleaning. They did that visit free of charge to cover their own incompetence from a previous visit. The final visit which cost approximately $400 came today less than 6 weeks after their last visit because the oil was transmitting a bad smell and smoking in the boiler room last night. Dole's technicians could not determine why the furnace burner stopped working and provided incomplete excuses as to why this was not previously noticed but did want to charge us $2000 to replace the furnace burner. We told them we'd get back to them and that we were not happy with them visiting (4) times over the course of the winter because that would conclude either they didn't know what they were doing or that our boiler and oil system needed to be replaced in full because if it did work properly we would not need (4) service visits in one winter. They also told us they could not guarantee this repair would make the other service issues go away as they gave response of other machine parts fail at different times for different reasons. This was Dole's final visit because we will not be doing work with them to replace our furnace burner. Each visit they did resulted in a revisit and I see now they are the kind of company that does shoddy work in the hopes of getting rework to double or triple bill for the same initial service. Add to this there are people residing in our house in the occupied bedroom right next to the Boiler Room, Dole's failure to correct this issue creates a life safety issue within our house that we may become liable for. We spent over $1000 on Dole and $2000 on the Chimney Repair and we still do not have a fully working Furnace and Boiler in our house. Why should we pay them $2000 for service that will result in a $5000 revisit in a few months? This is their way of doing business on HVAC/Plumbing work, for this reason we recommend Highly Avoid.
