Last month, I mailed out two fragile items last month and the UPS store showed me the packing materials. It was white cotton insulation materials and bubble wrap. I was concerned that it not being building insulation fiber glass, and they assured me it wouldnt be. When my daughters received their items, they were packed in pink building insulation itchy carcinogenic fiber glass! That's dangerous on the skin and a person can break out in a bad rash just touching it, and worse yet, if it gets ingested. What kind of UPS store is this in Eagan Minnesota anyways? I paid a lot of money for their services, horrible and dangerous services! Be careful with using them. read more

UPDATE: March 6, 2023. I spoke with management by phone just now, who listened to my concerns. She confirmed that packages moving forward will be delivered to my front door with my residence marked with additional notes to that effect. n terms of the driver (who indeed was the driver for both deliveries), he will be disciplined per their corporate policy. The supervisor also gave me a local number to call if packages are mis-delivered and they will send a driver to deliver them to my door. I give 5 stars to the UPS corporate response and 0 stars for the driver. I am upgrading to a 4 star review. ---------------------------------------- The UPS driver delivering to my home, in the past week has delivered three 50+ pound boxes to the unsecured multi-use carport in my multi-unit townhome complex, in a high theft area. This has happened TWICE in the past week, forcing me to drag these very heavy boxes by myself, while recovering from a back injury, up 3 flights of stairs (and I am over 50). The point of delivery is to well... DELIVER, not force a customer to drag up heavy boxes they paid to have delivered, from an open garage, to their home in the rain the first time, in the dark the second time. I addressed this first delivery with customer service last Monday, 2/27. While the customer service rep was helpful and I did receive an email saying that this was being escalated "as soon as possible", no one has phoned or emailed me about it yet as promised. Now this inconsiderate and selfish driver, whose job it is to deliver these boxes to my residence at the FRONT DOOR, has done it again (the heavy items of course, not the light ones). What kind of delivery service is this? It is impossible to speak to anyone live on the UPS customer service line or on their website, or to leave more than a 500 word complaint (and of course without the ability to attach images). I am going into their office again on Monday to complain and will update this if they indeed rectify this (but I am not holding my breath). This driver needs to be terminated if he is unwilling to deliver packages securely to the customer's residence. Not the open shared garage under the building, the landing between flights, in front of the neighbor's car, the neighbor's door, or the bottom of the stairs. Just received my recliner with a box that was so wet it was falling apart when taken out of the truck. I didn't want to accept package but delivery person stated the box was to damaged for returning to seller. It was raining hard earlier and the delivery person would not tell me how the box got so wet and broken in the delivery process See pictures. I have dealt with UPS in many businesses and never have I had such an incompetent delivery person. So now I'm stuck with a recliner that's heavy & can't return because the box fell apart. The entire top of the box came off, heavy water damage on entire box & broken wood protection packaging is broken. Driver would not tell me how this box was so damaged. Every time I order a package and is sent UPS i never get it. They refuse to deliver to my house and usually my package is sent back. If I had a choice I would never use UPS again. The guys inside were hooting and hollering about something.. it was like being in a bar. This one poor guy in front of me was turning red because they were giving him a hard time-- I thought it was hysterical. This review is for ups customer service. It is outsourced to the Philippines. They can not help you and give you attitude when they deliver your item to an unknown unrelated address! When you ask to speak to someone in the US, they say they can't. They read from scripts with no comprehension of how to resolve the problem, even when speaking to a supervisor. It's very frustrating. Until the company resolves their terrible call center customer service. You should buy from venders that use US postal service. My UPS driver is well known to say he came by my house when he really didn't. It happens to me, it happens to my neighbors, it happens to my friends a mile down the route. You'd think that he'd eventually be told to knock it off, but I guess that's the benefit of being unionized - do crap work and not get in trouble for it. Anyway, it's rare that I schedule a day off to accept a package, but there are times I will if I'm expecting something important - a new notebook, a large check, etc. I've done it three times in the last year and a half, so not a frequent thing. Each time, however, the UPS tracking system immediately will update saying they attempted delivery but no one was home. Umm, no. I was home. In fact, I even had my front door open, to make it clear I was home. Yet, UPS still has the audacity to try and skip making the delivery. So last time I called them out on it. The 800 service number was very easy work with, and the manager there thought it was unacceptable, especially considering this wasn't the first time. The station ... thing (I don't he was a manager). Station troll, I s'pose? Called me within 15 minutes or so, with a very flat and rude tone, asking if he wanted me to see if the driver could try delivering it again within 10-15 minutes. Umm, let me think about that. I took a day off from work, to sit around home all day, to wait for you to deliver what I was expecting, and then you decide to pretend I wasn't home. Hmm, let's do some thinking... would I want that redelivered today... hmm... YES OF COURSE I WANT IT TO BE REDELIVERED, YOU CAVE DWELLER! I would pay extra for companies to ship to me via FedEx. 1, their drivers are not union, so that instantly makes them superior, and 2, they NEVER have played the skip-your-house game BS that UPS has. /rant. read more

Do NOT trust them! My husband won a $700 gift certificate through his company. We were expecting it to be delivered yesterday, keep in mind - we've had deliveries to our address through UPS before. We received an email stating that there was an error with delivery. -I requested that the package be held at the local Santa Cruz office for pick up. GUESS WHAT! The package was there but ripped open, the $700 gift cards were stolen. Either the driver or the UPS staff stole the $700. We will NEVER use their services again. read more

Waited for my package all Friday afternoon, and then I received an email saying that "they missed me" and will attempt to re-deliver on Monday. Funny thing is...they NEVER showed up. The driver just ghosted me and marked his system that he tried to deliver but nobody was home to sign for the package. Online and telephone Customer Service is of no help either. I am a disabled Vet that receives my meds from the VA via UPS, and I rely on UPS to deliver....so disappointed on this driver, whomever they may have been. read more

Lots of people here are venting about experiences they've had with drivers that made poor/hasty decisions, and drivers that caused inconveniences... well I run a business and shop a lot online, and I've had enough UPS packages cross my path to know that given just how many deliveries there are to the various homes and businesses of Santa Cruz county, five 1-2 star reviews definitely is not a fair reflection on many of the absolutely wonderful, understanding and enthusiastic workers that help make our lives run. In fact, having worked for a freight company in the past, I can say for certain that there's no way in the world the clerks at the counter at the Sylvania UPS warehouse/terminal should be anywhere near as helpful and pleasant as they are. I generally leave here smiling after having a pleasant conversation with a UPS agent. So yeah, sure, I've had UPS drivers blow it, cause me aggravation, and leave me frustrated. Regarding UPS store on Sylvania Ave, Santa Cruz, CA Dan (who was not required to provide his last name), was the worst and most disrespectful person I have ever spoken to on the phone. He was so absolutely unreasonable and unfriendly, that he put me into to tears! Basically, I paid for a very important overnight service that was not delivered until 4 days later. I felt I deserved a refund of $24. Dan from the Santa Cruz office called me and I felt like I was fighting over a custody battle. Really? For $24? My package was delivered earlier than usual, and I didn't have time to schedule for the UPS to hold my package. So it was delivered today 8/31/12 and I won't be able to pick up up until 9/4/12, which is about 3-4 days :( I called the UPS to check if my package was accepted or left at the front door. They said that it was left at the front door and I was scared that it might be stolen before I can pick it up. I asked UPS if there's anything I could do to ensure that the package be safe, and they told me they can send someone out to pick up the package and keep it for me until I come. Joe (the person who helped me) really did save my life. No charge for the pick up! the most wonderful people. I don't feel hassled to provide information, and it most certainly don't feel like i'm being nagged by an old bitter woman (no offense). read more

UPS service is usually great. My issue is not with their service, but with the speed of their trucks. Our private drive is posted 15 mph, but the trucks go much faster. I have spoken with one driver, and he insisted that he was instructed to stay under 25 mph. We have pets, toddlers, handicapped and unsteady elders on our street, so it makes sense to slow down. It is impossible to get a call through to the customer center in Santa Cruz, so I guess short of going down personally, this is my only outlet for input. read more

For the purposes of this review, 1 star = 0 star (Yelp won't allow zero) AMAZON PACKAGE STOLEN, DRIVER LIED, UPS DOESN'T CARE, NO CUSTOMER SERVICE OPTIONS TO HANDLE THIS SITUATION PROMPTLY (1) UPS driver documented attempting a delivery a few months ago on a day when I was at the window waiting for my package during the time he claimed, but he never stopped ... lied completely. (2) Today waited all day for package from Amazon prime and finally at 7:06 pm saw the UPS tracking website show "Delivered" and signed for by "SMITH" (not even close to my name or any of my neighbors). The driver never was on my porch or at my front door. Called UPS customer service and was initially told to call Amazon, UPS didn't want to hear about it. So either the driver (A) was incompetent and delivered to another street entirely (this one is only one block long), or (B) knows that he/she has a license to steal because Amazon will eat the loss and replace the package. Either way, UPS isn't interested in addressing the problem ... let Amazon handle it. Nonetheless, tried to shine a light on the issue and called UPS customer service twice and both times after lengthy holds and the "not our job, mon" line was eventually promised assistance and then put on permanent hold (call 1: Castille) or hung up on (call 2: Lindsey, who confirmed Castille had made no notes in their database about the first call). My husband waited around all day on Wednesday for it...somehow, with three people within five feet from the front door, we missed the knocking on the front door. Clearly, he didn't actually knock. Had to call the 1800 number, got a call-back from our local shipping office, from the most unprofessional and personality-lacking employee, that we could pick it up before eight p.m. When we get there, a totally friendly dude helps us out...but the initial experience sucked. Have been dealing with UPS on line and at 41st Avenue. The 41st Avenue store did the best they could to assist me, but it is the Corporate level that is terrible. Had a package with the wrong zip code only on it, the address was correct. It arrived first at Capitola, then arrived at Santa Cruz, and then was returned to the Sender. I am out the money, the Sender won't reply either. Corporate lied and said they rerequested it and it would arrive in 2 days. Was on the phone for 40 minutes and the lady was just trying to appease me so I would get off. Never received the package and got 2 different letters from two different employees with 2 different scenarios. Then I checked tracking and it showed delivery to Capitola, then delivery to Santa Cruz. UPS is chaotic and the employees are doing what they can, while corporate just takes in the money and could care less about the customer. Will avoid them from here on.. read more

One person at this company seems to be interested in helping their customers. The local manager Joe informed me that he searched their warehouse on Saturday looking for my package, explaining that occasionally envelopes get trapped in their machinery. Unfortunately he was unable to find it. On Monday I called again and Joe informed me that there was no new scan-in for my package so delivery was unlikely. I had to order a stop payment on the first check and order a new one to arrive on Wednesday; I was supposed to receive the original "guaranteed" on Friday of last week. Then this morning I receive an email stating that a delivery was attempted at my home yesterday. Funny, I was home ALL DAY and NO ATTEMPT was made at delivery, and no notice left on my gate or door that an attempt was made (curious as UPS always leaves these notes when attempting a delivery). I called the local store and spoke to someone, I believe they stated their name was Tracey. This person interrupted me in the middle of briefly (and calmly, surprisingly enough) explaining the situation to say to me in an incredibly rude voice that I should speak to Joe about this. I'm sorry that if customer service is an inconvenience to you Tracey, but it's nothing compared to what your company has put me through this weekend! To sum up my experience with this company: they failed to deliver by their "guaranteed" delivery date, were not even able to locate my package for days, informed me that I would not be receiving it and to reorder, LIED about attempting to deliver and then gave me attitude when I tried to explain the situation that they have created for me. Update: I was contacted by John who informed me that they are following up with their driver as their GPS verifies no attempt was made to deliver. He was very nice, and addressed my concerns perfectly. I'm still frustrated with the situation, but I feel I have to say his and Joe's customer service have been exemplary. I am expecting a new delivery tomorrow and John was very willing to arrange to easiest possible delivery for me. read more

Had a package held here for 5 days and arrived at this location at 5:27p before closing. One of the delivery guys attended to me and checked the computer for my package. Another employee who has helped me in the past assisted me the rest of the way and entered my tracking number and went to get my package in the back. When i finally got my package he was nice enough to suggest to pull my car up since the box was 100#. In addition, they were able to assist me before closing, find my package and place it on a rolling cart for me to load into my car. One star is deducted because the first guy wasn't too personable, they didn't offer to help me load my heavy box and they locked the sliding doors when i wanted to return the rolling cart. I don't know who helped those people who wrote bad reviews, but every time I have been in the Customer Center, I have been treated with courtesy, respect, and as much help as they can possibly give. They suggest the best way to ship my packages, and do everything they can to make it a great experience. I am usually in and out very quickly. I go in mid-afternoons, and there is hardly ever a line. When I do have to wait, it's because the assistant in the front lobby is helping someone else. And they are doing a great job of helping that person too! Amazon told us UPS would pick up a return. UPS doesn't reveal what day or what time they might come by! Over 3 days we got 2 secret and unplanned visits from UPS that were useless because who can stay home all day? After their 2nd secret visit we saw a UPS notice on our door stating the 2nd visit was final. We even tried to take the no-cost return to a UPS truck on a nearby street but he wouldn't take it. According to UPS so-called customer service we now have to go back to Amazon returns again and start all over. I hope I never have to go back here. I couldn't tell if I was near the right location..it was almost 10 am and I saw a ton of UPS trucks but no sign for customers. I called the number I found on google (I pulled over) and the woman on the phone 1. didn't answer saying anything about UPS so I asked if I had the right number, and she was full of attitude. I explained where I was, and asked if there was a sign from the street. She didn't get my question or that I had never been over in that area and so I figured it out on my own. When I walk in the guy at the door greets me with "address". I ask "Um yeah I'm here to pick up. Do you need the address it was attempted to be delivered at?" he responds "Well, I don't know maam. How can we help we?" What the heck? I felt like I chose the wrong day to show up, or maybe since I was the 1st customer they were all a bit cranky. Again, I hope I never have to go back here. I called to track my shipment because it was saying online that it would not be here until after the 3 day express shipping I paid for. I was trying to see if I could just come pick it up, as it's urgent that I have it asap. I didn't even get the woman's name who answered, which is weird because every customer support place I've ever called always has their employees tell their name. She lets me get in a few words then interrupts me and says "Hold on I have a customer, I'm putting you on hold" and just clicks over. Doesn't even ask if I mind or even bother to not be abrupt and rude about it. When she got back on the phone she seems really annoyed while asking for my tracking number, is sighing, and then tells me that my package hasn't even been shipped to them which I knew was incorrect. I had her read the tracking number back and she had gotten one of the numbers wrong which is fine because we are human and make mistakes but maybe had she not been sighing and rushing me then she would have gotten it right. Her overall tone was unprofessional and just downright rude. She told me they have the package out for delivery and I told her when I tracked it online it says it won't be delivered until tomorrow. She says "No. Today is the 27th. You ordered 3 day shipping, so they have it out right now." In a matter of fact voice, as if I am incompetent and don't know what day it is. After thanking her for checking for me she interrupts with "Okay bye" and hangs up. I don't know if she was having a bad day or what but I've never had problems with UPS before and hopefully this isn't a pattern for behavior.
