The milkshake was bomb! I ordered the uptown burger minus the caramelized onions. The burger was just ok, patties could've been crisper if they were smashed. They put way too much lettuce, I had to remove some. It was seasoned well but I think I would've liked it better with bacon. Don't recall seeing that as an option when I was ordering. You order on the kiosk when you first enter so there wasn't really much "service," other than them bringing us our food. Loved the upscale ambiance, I felt like I was in a pretty fancy restaurant, hence the "Uptown Burger". Nice indoor and outdoor seating. Nice rich dark wood tables, chandeliers, and wall of wine bottles. I love being surrounded by wine! My corn with pesto was absolutely to die for!! It charred perfectly, and was freshly cut off the cob with those big chunks of kernels all stuck together in groups, reminding me of my childhood when dad would cut if off and freeze it for the winter! I love the drink options, beer, wine, kombucha on tap. I was surprised to not see any local beer. My Uptown burger was simply great! Messy is best, the meat was so incredibly flavorful and I loved the bun and the chunky pickles. My friend and I both struggled with the ordering table, it didn't really have a back button, to go back and add something , you kinda had to start all over, and then instead of paying on the machine, it seemed the only option was to pay the person at the counter, who I tipped, but didn't feel like tipping, because what is it that they really do? I did it all myself, and they didn't even bring silverware or napkins? They did bring the food... life is good for a server here! Great husband. HOLY COW! What delicious burgers! It's totally laid back here. They have gluten free buns and sides, i had the sweet potato fries and they were delish! There's lots of parking, it looks like they have plenty of room for groups and it's super easy with kiosks OR a real person for ordering. They're helpful and I am SO FULL! It's uptown meaning location, not uptown meaning fancy. You order for yourself on a touch screen that is slightly more modern than one in McDonald's. You get your own silver, napkins, and condiments from a server station but it is a customer station. The burgers aren't cheaper to compensate for you working there. They are very expensive, which makes no sense. The interior is odd for a burger joint. There's chandeliers and mirrors that look like suns and a backsplash at the expo window that wraps around the corner into the dining area and "art" and a wall of wines and subway tile. A worker brought the burgers out to the table and never came back to check on us. The first bite of the burger tasted good. But the bun got soggy immediately and fell apart. The ingredients slid off the top. So I went to the customer station and got myself a knife. I ate a bit more using a knife and fork which sucked. I couldn't get another bite with all the parts. My husband liked his burger but he had to eat in 30 seconds without ever putting it down. I can't imagine a reason to go back here. Even if you order take out, the burger won't hold together long enough to make the drive. Uptown does not have enough upsides. read more

I'm a visitor from LA, and a good burger is really hard to find. However, when visiting Tucson and staying by a hotel nearby, I didn't have that many expectations for this little restaurant. Oh I was surprised, this was the best burger I've ever had. I got the uptown burger which was pretty basic but it really gave me a sense of authenticity. It felt like my dad or mom would make but it a higher extent and I had to come back one more time. Before I left. The service was amazing, the food was amazing, and an experience I won't forget. I'm usually skeptical of a burger that costs more than $10, especially if it's vegan and not from Beaut burger. I'm also not typically a fan of Impossible meat. All things considered, this was an amazing meal. The bun was a not too dense, not too fluffy, and had a good brioche flavor. The cheese and sauce tasted like actual cheese. I had to double check the menu to make sure it was all vegan. The burger was slightly crisp on the outside and cooked just right through the middle, so no weird Impossible red stuff. The fresh lettuce and pickles were a perfect portion and nice counterbalance to the grilled onions. I think what really made it perfect was the mush and spinach they smash into the Impossible patty. It gave the flavor extra iron and umami to mimic a genuine burger. As for the restaurant itself. They have three self order screens, pretty easy to use, and plenty of indoor and outdoor seating for couples or families. Saw this place advertised in a local magazine and wanted to try it. When we walked in, we were met by a very helpful gentleman who walked us through the self ordering system. This system, while fairly easy to walk through, gives you every option on what to have on your burger. We both got burgers and shared a basket of fries. Both of our burgers were on brioche buns with very well cooked meat that had fantastic flavor. The fries were some of the best I've had here in Tucson. About the only real drawback is the price. This isn't a place we will be going to often, but for a nice treat, we will be back. read more

We are hardly ever in the foothills area. We are usually around downtown or midtown area. We decided to venture out and I'm glad we did. I'm a burger fan. I love burgers! When we got there, I noticed we had to order at a kiosk. Then we grabbed a number and went to sit down. Almost right after we got our beers served! Service was fast! I was craving a big fat burger and that's just what I got. If you're wanting a super tasty, juicy, high-quality burger with the no-fuss business of full-service, this is your place. You order at the counter (self-service), get a number, and then your food is delivered to you as it's ready. I ordered the Sonoran Burger and it was amazing. It had just the right amount of spice, and the corn topping was killer. The place is new, so it's still working out all of its kinks. The kitchen messed up my order (and was delayed with one of my friend's meals), but I'm a believer they will get this ironed out in due time. Every new restaurant needs a grace period. It's a very casual place to grab a quick, delicious meal. I wouldn't suggest going with a group. It's super small inside and you won't all get your burger at the same time. I will say, it is on the pricier side - $30 for a burger, fries, and strawberry milkshake, but I'd imagine their overhead is $$$ at the location they are. The burger I got here was extremely good. It was topped with BLT and avocado. Along with it I had charred corn with pesto. This was a novel side dish so I had to try it. It was good and something I would order again. Next time I would get some lime to squeeze on top of it to add a little kick. To top off the meal I had the soft serve vanilla with Oreo pieces. The cookie pieces were fresh and crunchy as if someone had just broken up a fresh cookie over my bowl. It was not soggy pcs scooped out of a bin. All and all I was very happy with my meal. Instead of getting the two different food items from the menu as ordered, I got two of the same. I checked the receipt which had the order on it. Good addition to this neighborhood. The establishment prides itself with serving beef from the Piedmont region of northwest Italy. It was not bad. They have self-service computers set up to order. It also gives options like adding more cheese, bacon, avocado and others. If you are on the low carb diet, you can opt for lettuce wrap instead of a bun. We had the Tuscan burger with mozzarella, tomato, and pesto sauce. No Tuscan dish would contain pesto in it. It's not a thing. It was still decent. First time and wasn't disappointed. Ordered the Staple burger single patty as it's designed and was delicious. Nice medium preparation and so juicy I recommend cutting in half first and flipping upside down the French fries were think and crispy and the lemonade was a good compliment to everything. Dessert I tried the raspberry gelato shake and it's was even better than expected. Our waitress was very nice and informative to our first time ignorance which was nice. My husband is a burger aficionado, so we decided to make the trip across town to Uptown for an anniversary lunch this weekend. We both had the classic Uptown burgers with cheese. There are two temperature options- a single 8 oz. patty that's pink in the middle or two, 4 oz, "smashed" medium well patties. I ordered the two-patty option and my husband had the single patty, but since he isn't a topping guy and my two patties weren't really smashed, my burger was actually larger than his and it wasn't easy to eat (I had to deconstruct it.) Both of our burgers were a little greasy, but they were also delicious. I really enjoyed the Uptown sauce, but next time I'll get it on the side. We shared a small order of fries, which were also great and more than enough for two people. It was a warm afternoon, but we were able to eat on the patio, thanks to the impressive industrial fans. And even though Uptown uses a digital ordering system (super easy to use,) a friendly staffer was behind the counter in case we needed help. I wish that my burger had been less messy and easier to eat (I was grateful this wasn't a first date,) but next time I'll just plan to remove one of the patties or get fewer toppings. We loved popping into to Uptown for a quick and casual lunch or dinner. If you are a return customer- be aware they've changed to a seated restaurant, no more kiosks, wait staff takes your order, prices have increased, and the 'full service' restaurant now changes the dynamic of a quick and easy place to grab a bite to eat. Food now comes on plates rather than the previous disposable trays. I wish they would've left things as they were. Or give an option if you want a waiter to take your order. Highly "meh." But pricey. We read the reviews thinking this would be a nice alternative to Zinburger. However there is zero service at this place. And the food is pretty pricey for what you get. When we entered, it wasn't clear who would greet us and check us in. It turns out, the answer is "no one." It didn't take too long to figure out you order from a touchscreen. So in that sense, the experience starts out like McDonalds, except without the option to interface with a human. We ordered an Uptown Burger (seems like that's the place to start, getting the namesake burger) plus a French Dip, a single side of fries and two soft drinks. The kiosk prompted me for a tip, which was a shock since there was no human interaction at all up to this point. I went ahead and put in a tip, hopeful that the service might come later. SPOILER ALERT: there never was any service at all, save for the single delivery to the table to drop off the food. We even bused our own table after finishing, seeing that the other patrons did the same. So, asking the customer to put in a tip is either tacky or insulting, depending on your point of view. We chose to view it as merely tacky. Speaking to others afterward, the jury seems to be split between "tacky, but just ignore the request for tip" and "rude, not going back." The burgers were amply sized. The beef seemed to be of good quality. We found the Uptown Burger to be wet and messy, with the bun largely disintegrated from the moisture. So the overall hamburger was subpar, but the meat itself was fine. If I were to go back, I'd probably see about holding the sauces in an attempt to make a less sloppy and better burger. The French Dip similarly had good hamburger meat. In this case, the roll did not have a lot of things to make it soggy, so it was fine. However, the au jus wasn't a big hit, as the saltiness overpowered any flavor. The fries were pretty good, served fairly fresh and fairly warm, still with some crispiness. So all in all, would we want to come back and spend $40 for a couple of burgers and soft drinks and a split order of fries? Probably not. This makes it significantly more than twice the cost of a fast food chain restaurant with similar service and ambiance. Granted, the nod goes to Uptown Burger for the meat itself, but the fast food alternative definitely wins on the built up hamburger. It will be interesting to see if the quality of beef can pull customers from fast food to spend a whole lot more, despite nothing else being an upgrade from the chain burger joint experience. read more

I was in Tucson for business a couple weeks ago and stopped in for a burger. I ordered the BLT avocado burger. The burger was tasty, but messy - so messy that the bun disintegrated after just a few bites. If you get the brioche bun be prepared to eat most of it with a knife and fork. Only considering the burger, I would have given four stars. But considering the service, or lack thereof, I knocked them down to two. Why? Because there really isn't any, yet they try to get you to leave a tip when you place your order at the kiosk. That's right, they don't even have counter help to answer questions about the menu or take your order and then they try to get you to leave 20%. You also have to pick up your own condiments and silverware. And you're expected to bus your own table. But the only you get a clean table to sit at is if the party before you left their table to be cleaned by the staff. Otherwise, the tables don't appear to get wiped down. So it's like a fast food restaurant that says they serve premium beef (for premium prices), but has you leave a tip before you know that there isn't any service. read more
