I love this shop!! Only been twice, but it's now my cafe of choice. The staff is so incredibly friendly, and it's delightful to see them greeting their regulars warmly. It's a charming atmosphere. Not as well maintained as a huge chain, but as a bit of a germaphobe, I think it's always acceptably clean and pleasant to eat either inside or outside. I stopped by one morning and ordered a bacon , egg sandwich on wheat toast for about $5. You cannot beat their prices they sell breakfast platters also. It's very convenient and fast. The place is clean and spacious. They have tables and chairs it's a big enough place for you to sit down and eat. I believe the hours are 6am-3pm. They also sell sandwiches. I asked for a menu but was told they don't have menu due to their prices changing, I did take a picture of their menu. I will definitely return. read more

We are from Orlando visiting DC area and we love a hot breakfast with protein! We both had cheese and backing omelettes that came with toast and fried potatoes! This is the kind of easy, no frills, pleasant service, good price point, good food, establishment that I, in my non-expert, Yelp Elitist opinion is kind of lacking in key Washington DC neighborhoods. Sometimes you don't need a plant/flower wall or cutting edge espresso makers or vivid artist commissioned works on the wall. Sometimes you just need a grill and somebody behind it making good pancakes and bacon egg and cheese sandwiches. Throw some tabletops in there that someone actually cleans every so often and let the space live and breath. If you want sides and drinks, there's chips, soda, and many of the bottled beverages you'd find in your local service station. Keep it simple and focus and making good food quickly and consistently. Once again, the pancakes are phenomenal. The bacon is good. I asked specific for cheddar cheese to be scrambled into my eggs and you can never miss with that. $11 well spent. I'm glad I found myself over here when the craving for late breakfast hit. read more

This place is new to me. Recently, I've patronized with no mistake. Every morning, so far I've glad the croissant with egg, cheese, sausage patty and lettuce tomato sandwich. $11 is reasonable. You are greeted before taking your order with a pleasant outcome. The setting of tables are always situated nicely, and are clean as the place is. Yes, I'd sit inside if I had time. Should be called UPSELL Cafe. Ordered a grilled ham and cheese. Go to pay and owner says $6.55. I ask isn't meat and cheese $4.95? He says that for toasted sandwich. I say what's the difference. If a "Grilled" Cheese is $4.55 why adding ham at $2.50 is any difference. On the menus meat and cheese is right below grilled cheese and right below that is Egg meat and cheese. He said because it has to go on grill. I asked does the grilled cheese go on the grill? He said yes but this different the ham on grill also. I asked okay if I got the Jane egg and cheese on toast which was like $5 something does the egg and ham go get cooked on the grill? He said yes of course. I said okay why is this different. All he could say because grilled bread or toasted bread. This place should be called UPSELL Cafe. Damn grilled cheese and ham wasn't worth $6.55. Look at it. Owner should be ashamed of himself. Located right next to NoMa metro station, Uptown Cafe is like our local Dunkin' Donuts-- unhealthy, delicious, cheap, amazing employees. I didn't feel like cooking and this was the closest breakfast restaurant to give it a try. It was not a disappointment at all, it was extremely delicious. I have gotten two croissants with bacon, cheese, and eggs as well as a homemade fries which costed me nearly $13 including taxes. Could not get any cheaper than that in our neighborhood. The croissant was, ohh! so good! My wife loved hers as well. Also, my wife said this taste is very similar to the coffee she used to go to at her work and it turns out they are the same people. Originally their shop was located in the government building and it was called as "NoMa Cafe." Like many other businesses, Covid-19 negatively effected their business as well and they had to close it. Now they are reopened as Uptown Cafe. Highly recommended! read more

This cafe is right next to the NoMa metro station and it has a wide selection of breakfast foods as well as some lunch cuisine. I had the matcha latte which was not too sweet and had the best rich matcha flavor. The people there are so nice and the area inside is always nice. There is also outside seating which is sat under umbrellas. read more

This place is consistently good. They're so good they are only 1 of the 2 cafes that survived covid. The breakfast choices and options are good. I usually get the traditional breakfast (toast, home fries, eggs and turkey sausage/bacon). They have a good looking cheesesteak sub but unfortunately don't have a chicken cheesesteak. On to specifics...their bacon, egg and cheese on a bagel is Yummy!! They make the sandwiches to order (especially the bacon - I like it crispy) and it's always the right amount of bacon for me - I LOVE BACON!! I've also ordered the turkey and avocado wrap on a spinach wrap and whoa.....it's some kind of DELICIOUS!! So, if in a hurry, stop through to get something yummy for your tummy quick, fast, and in a hurry that will tickle your belly! The only drawback is the ventilation system. This place has THE BEST breakfast! A hidden gem. It's always a lot of people! And it's worth waiting in line. What's especially great about it is that the food is consistently good. The chef there is amazing. And the lady who takes your order is always nice and quick and gets it right. I live in the neighborhood and I usually went to West Wing Cafe! I had to change to this one when West Wing suddenly shut down. I call in the same thing every morning and they have gotten it wrong consistently. I can't even eat this sandwich. When I call to follow up about the order they won't even pick up the phone. Great bagels - you could say close to NY bagels, nice and soft and fluffy - and they make everything fresh to order. I've only been for breakfast, but I've seen their lunch sandwiches that look great as well. Close on Sunday's unfortunately. Initial visit. Pretty happy with my BLT. Bread was soft -not your typical Wonder Bread. Cafe had a large selection of snacks, sides, and drinks. Even had some fresh fruit cups. I wish their menu or daily soup and specials were posted online somewhere, or a more active Facebook page or blog or Twitter or something. I've visited another Uptown Cafe that had wonderful soups and pho. It was nice being able to check the site in the morning to decide if I needed to bring lunch or enjoy their offering. Update: it seems every day I've been there, it was chicken soup day. I haven't tried it, but I wish they'd mix it up a bit.
