Perfect place for a sandwich. I ordered the tuna sandwich and it was perfect. Small sandwich shop in the hall of states building

    Clean and very good.

Walking distance from Union Station. I ate breakfast here because of the reviews and it did not disappoint. A good selection of options. I chose the breakfast burrito with ham and potatoes and it was delicious. Made before my very eyes... Not a lot of seating so I bet it's busy at lunchtime. Interior is clean and new, and you see everything behind the counter as they work - it's clean and everything looks fresh. Staff has pride of place - I suspect it's a family business - and are very friendly and courteous. It's not fancy but I will probably eat every breakfast here this week based on my experience this morning!

Thrilled I discovered this place after moving to the neighborhood for work, but this location is 444 N. Capitol St NW in the Hall of States building. Tons of breakfast and lunch options from burritos, salads, wraps, sandwiches, and soups. And for $10.99 (tax included) I had the pleasure of trying the Southwestern Chicken Salad (added diced tomatoes) with bbq ranch dressing and the Caesar Salad with chicken (added diced tomatoes). Both were filling, hearty, fresh, and I like that they grill the chicken on demand! The staff are quick, attentive, efficient, and you will be in and out even during the lunch rush. I have to come back to try other items, but the salads have been catching my eyes for now. Fast ... affordable ... reasonably priced!

The Franklin Grill is now located at 400 N. Capitol St NW in the Hall of States building. So happy this place opened. Excellent breakfast and lunch options from burritos, salads, sandwiches and soups plus daily specials. They are open M-F 7-3. Carry out or dine on site.

Franklin Grille does not impress...at first. It's in the bottom corner of a sterile downtown DC office building built decades ago. The interior is no frills in the same way a Russian gulag would be. They have random food items thrown throughout the right side of the cafe...or are we calling it a grill? Then you order the food and you're pleasantly surprised. Their breakfast sandwiches (order the ham, cheese, and egg sandwich on an English muffin) are tasty and made fresh daily. They brew coffee and it's decent coffee too! My chocolate chop muffin was fresh and tasty too! All of that was well under $10. They have a space where you can sit down and enjoy your breakfast people watching downtown DC.

All the way down to the mayo wallpaper in the restroom! As a Dukes Mayo fan, that's awesome! To the food and drink. We had a pickle soda and local sour beer. Both were great and tasty on a hot day. We had three various appetizers from the cool ranch onion rings to the Seattle fries with a mix of dope beet salad in there. All were good, the onion rings were definitely my favorite and judging by all the orders I saw around, it was everyone else's as well. The mains were the RPG and the fish special. The RPG was a bit heavy on the mayo, next time would ask for less mayo but it was still delicious as a char su pork fan. This hit the mark. The fish sandwich was tangy and spicy which made it delicious. It was a bit messy and the bun didn't hold up great but that didn't detract from the flavors. All in all this place is a gem of a sandwich shop / bar. Would recommend if you are in the area.

I really enjoyed the sauces and couldn't stop eating them. I'd definitely recommend Thai place if you are looking for a good sandwich and a quick bite!

Most people order their sandwiches to go. The line can get pretty long, but you get through at a decent pace, I wouldn't say fast. Simple and straightforward ordering process, just remember what you ordered because they don't take names. I go between the Crunchy Boi and the Marisa Tomei Eats Free, which are both great. The Crunchy Boi is probably their most popular sandwich and it's lighter than you would think considering it's filled with potato chips. I think it's worth trying once. The Marisa Tomei, on the other hand, has never failed me. It's balanced with an absurd amount of arugula against the meat, and it's never dry. The portions are generous, like you could definitely split it into two meals, but they're not so heavy that you couldn't finish a sandwich in one sitting.

They operate a deli counter in the front and a bar / speakeasy in the back. You can rent out the bar space for private events. Last night, we had the space (and a bartender!) to ourselves, along with 3-4 different types of sandwiches. There is something SPECIAL about their seeded Italian bread. The perfect flakiness and texture. I enjoyed the chicken fontina and Italian. The caprese was my least favorite--not sure if they use a balsamic or what, but the flavor wasn't coming through. Before I left, I decided to order a large chicken cheesesteak to take home for lunch the next day. It was a bit of a risk to order a hot sandwich that I would have in the fridge overnight but I heated it up in our air fryer/toaster oven for all of 10 mins and the bread was good (not soggy) and the sandwich itself was delicious. I enjoyed it so much, I didn't stop to take a photo until the last bite :) It's a decent size sandwich--I ate half for lunch (along with my own chips and veggies) and have another half for tomorrow so while it's not cheap, I think it's reasonable.

The sandwich was stuffed with fried eggplant, grilled zucchini, stracciatella, tomato, arugula and roasted red pepper spread. The Parmigiano sandwich with eggplant was more like a Caprese sandwich with fresh mozzarella cheese, greens, tomato, and crispy thinly sliced eggplant stuffed between scrumptious moist Focaccia bread.
