Extremely Unprofessional I walked into Uptown Cheapskate and within one minute of entering, some random lady suddenly yelled across the store: "Everyone get out, we fucking close in 5 minutes." At first we assumed she was an employee because of how aggressively she said it. When we realized she wasn't, we called her out on it. Her response? "Yeah, I'm kind of crazy." What made the situation worse was that the actual employees said nothing about her behavior. No one corrected her, asked her to stop, or even acknowledged how inappropriate it was. On top of that, no staff member informed us when we walked in that the store was closing in 5 minutes even though it was over a hour before the website said they closed, which would have avoided the entire situation. Overall it felt chaotic, unprofessional, and uncomfortable. Customers shouldn't be yelled at by random people in the store while staff just stand there and do nothing. Spent a few hours going thru my closet and packed two bins. I've always taken two bins to cheapskate as I was told that's their maximum allowed. Spent thoughtful time about what to bring - mostly new stuff with tags. Walked in and the older lady manager doesn't even say hello she brings a black empty bin and says "we are only taking 25 items max so go thru your stuff and put your best 25 items in here". Monday comes around and I come back with 2 big bags (mind you I am 9 months pregnant) and he tells me the same thing, store credit only. It's nice also that you receive points to shop that you can use towards future purchases. Store is well maintained, with adequate means of egress, and items are well organized by sizes. I only knocked pff 1 star because if you want to resell any of your own things, they only pay you a fraction of what your items are worth. They make a good profit for turning around and selling the items you give them by charging at least double what you were paid. Great for them. I'm honestly sad to write this because I've supported this business for 10+ years. Recently their policies have gotten so strict, it's turned me off from giving them my business. I'd buy and sell from them regularly throughout the years. Their employees were not helpful and seemed annoyed that I was asking them to do their job. They also limit the number of bags of clothes you can sell to them. I had 3 bags and was told I could only sell ONE to them. Weird concept considering their business foundation is based on sellers selling to them. I'm pregnant and was told I wouldn't be able to go sit down in my car.
