My boyfriend recently moved to the area and needed to downsize, so he brought in several sneakers from his collection--many of which were either brand new or worn only once. On his first visit, he received a fair offer, which we appreciated. However, during a second visit with even more valuable pairs, he was offered just $35 for all four--not per pair, but total. We understand this is a resale store, and pricing will vary, but it seems the offers depend heavily on who is working the register. For example, today he brought in four pairs of trendy New Balance sneakers, each worn only once, and again was offered exactly $35 (the same young lady who offered him $35 the other day). It's starting to feel like that number is a default for her, regardless of the items' value. We really like your store, but this inconsistency is frustrating. It would be helpful if there were clearer, more standardized guidelines for evaluating items, so customers know what to expect no matter who is assisting them. read more

Don't waste your time. They will offer you next to nothing for bags of new clothes with tags. It seems no matter how many items you have, $35 total seems to be their offer. Such a cute shop! I saw an add on instagram and decided to check this place out. The prices were great, the staff were extremely friendly and the store was very clean and organized. They had a really good selection of items. I was looking for workout clothes and was able to find some plus size items for a great price with tags still on them. The vibe that has been cultivated in this Uptown Cheapskate is bizarre. It's nothing like the San Marcos one. The employees are a bit unhelpful & I did not feel welcome at all. The clothes available are pretty good: a whole rack of lululemon, Madewell, etc. Shoe selection leaves much to be desired. I saw some stuff that's been out of style since 2016 on the racks. When they finished my buy, they only purchased one item of clothing & the rest were denied. Idk why they might've been denied, so I don't want to make assumptions. Just be ready for the trade-in experience to be similar to most stores like this & Plato's Closet. Unfortunately, I will not be returning to this location. The service really felt so odd to me. The Store is Really Nice and they will do as much as possible to help you with resale of clothes. All the staff is Nice and very helpful. It's a little dusty because there's so many different things going on and so many items to choice from. They do work very well with the bargain on prices of things in the store too. read more

My daughter asked me to take her to sell clothes. She didn't have much, one shopping bag full. What I did not know, was since they take walk-ins and there's no limit on how much you can bring, the wait is very long. She came out and said one hour. **Important: We are told that if you do not come back in one hour, you will not get cash. After that hour, you will get store credit.** It was a little longer than I wanted, but I agreed. We walked around, got a smoothie, went to Trader Joe's. At the hour mark, we were told 30 more minutes. Still not thrilled but I agreed. It was not worth it to drive home and come back but had I known it would've been more than the hour I would've done just that. We go back after the additional 30 minutes, and this time I went in with her because I've waited an hour and a half already. We go inside and her clothes are neatly stacked with a piece of paper on them. I am hopeful that the transaction is going to be completed. We tell the associate, that's our stack, and she says oh "we're not to it yet it's gonna be 15 more minutes". I had had it, an hour and 45 minutes?! We are supposed to adhere to their ill predicted estimates or be subject to store credit instead of cash. But they don't have to be accurate on their estimates? It's not so much the time, it's that the time kept extending. And that clause that they have! Store credit if we're not back on time?! At no time was I offered to come back the next day and we would still get cash. There was no discussion. They could see I was upset and they just said "oh, here you go". I heard another associate say "oh he was going take it all?" And the one who was helping us said "Yep, but she wants to leave". There was no trying to appease the customer in any way, or even offer an apology. I think they rely on young people who won't push back. And if that's not the way they do business, that's certainly how it was conducted tonight. (Monday July 7th) read more
