Almost 6 months ago I wrote an update.... and at the end of the update I said "I wouldn't be surprised if the next time we do go, its the going-out-of-business sale" Sadly, I was right. I'm not surprised, though, because this location was definitely starting to look like nothing nice was coming in. At first, I thought they were trying to go for a more mature crowd. Then the google reviews were starting to claim that the store was looking more and more empty. It had a good run about 4 years ago I do admit. There was really nice clothes for everyone. Overall review of 2 is generous. I guess there are some rare good associates that are holding that place up. Ask me for a membership? Forget it!!! I haven't been to Off saks in some time. I have always loved coming to the store in years past to find designer brands not sold elsewhere. I don't remember being so rudely treated. I understand it's right before Christmas, but there was hardly anyone in the store maybe 6 to 10 other customers. My husband asked to see the watches and couldn't get more than a nonresponsive head nod from young female cashier behind the main register. So he asked again and finally was helped by a very kind young Hispanic male gentleman who also checked us out. Separately while he was looking at watches, I had literally just tried on a dress, and asked a different sales associate, at the opposite main counter in front of the ladies dressing room if they had different sizes in Siena black with ruffles. She said she had never heard of that brand or a name that sounded similar. I told her I literally just tried it on, and she looked at me like I had two heads and said well if you can find it and stalked off. I found it on the website after questioning my own memory of events. I, myself, and my husband have both worked in retail in the past, so I understand being both an employee and a customer. And now in our professional jobs or in the past would never treat someone like this. In a matter of 15-20 minutes I was so put off by humanity. It's awful that this is the only local off saks store. Honestly, I had higher expectations of any retail that carries the name Saks. Off 5th seems to stock items of much lesser quality and for men the quantities are a disappointment. I was surprised to see so many T shirts hanging on the racks. I'm sure the inventory turns often but somehow they always seem to cater to casual wear by a large volume. read more

Barbie doesn't like actual shafts, she prefers Saks. That's actually not true. It's supposed to be cheaper than Sak's itself, with similarly great footwear and clothing, but honestly it's pretty expensive. A lot of people love this store but the prices are a little prohibitive. Barbie loves browsing in here but we rarely buy anything due to the pricing. This Sugar Land location is actually better than a lot of the other ones we have been to though. read more

Off 5th closed their Stafford (Fountains) location a while back and in its place, this new location opened in Sugar Land. I had only been to the one in the Fountains twice before, but I definitely like this new location better. The inside reminds me of a duty free store in the airport. It's all white with sections for perfume and accessories as well as clothing. As I looked around, there weren't enough 'helpful' people in there. I saw some people working, but they seemed to be avoiding people rather than helping them. We looked at the men's shirts but what we found is merchandise that would never ben found in Saks First Avenue. The clothing was low quality and at a price that didn't make sense. My husband did end up getting two shirts but I am scared to see how long they last. I looked at the purses which I have been doing all over the city recently. I noticed the Michael Kors purses were a different line than you find at other department stores and at the Michael Kors store in the Galleria. I think that everything here is made at a lower quality specifically for this lower end store. Skip it. Overall, I'd rather go to Saks and pay double for really nice quality stuff than come here and pay far too much for low quality items. read more

It's a discount clothing store--albeit for already too expensive designer clothing- but you can find some great buys if you look hard enough. Associates do seem a little indifferent but working for the public can do that to you. One thing you need to be aware of is that they close the dressing rooms 30 minutes before store closing time without making any announcement. read more

ROUGH customer service experience. Was there on a Wednesday afternoon completely dead with associates standing around throughout the store. I asked one woman if I could use the dressing room and she said yes - and the continued to fold clothes without opening a room for me. After 5 minutes of me standing right there waiting for someone to let me in, I had to ask her a second time if she would unlock the door for me. She looked around thinking someone else would again help me. Just open the door for god's sake. Then, I needed help in jewelry. There were three people not doing a thing by the register and I asked if someone could help me. The associate says "one minute" and never comes back. Now he's back at the register and he says "ohhh yes jewelry" and points to the one person working in the department who was helping a customer for a super long time. He was clearly nowhere near about to finish but yet they couldn't just open the cabinets when they had absolutely nothing to do. I ended up dropping all of my items that I had planned to buy on top of the cabinets and leaving without purchasing a thing. Just terrible terrible service all around. read more

Since when did the Fountains location close and this one OPEN?? Man, I'm out the loop.. the Sugar Land loop! I found this location while making a trip with my sister to DSW next door. If you've ever been to the Fountains location, you'll see why I questioned myself right when I walked in, "Are we not in Off 5th??" It's because it was such a different feel than what I'm used to. The other location was much more low key compared to the new SL location. This one is a young and modernized Off 5th, with a bright and vivid lighting. You walk straight into the middle of the store to find aaaaaaall the accessories and checkout counter.. this is what separates the men and women clothing sections. Shoes are in the back, as usual. Some spottings were Fendi Sunglasses for 99.00, 7 For All Mankind jeans for 169.00, shoes 40% off and some gorgeous Calvin Klein cocktail dresses for 120.00. If you're used to buying designer brands at regular costs and/or paying higher costs for great quality, you learn to appreciate Off 5th costs a lot more. So we wondered how long they'd been open and how coincidental it is that Nordstrom Rack is right next door. I'm guessing if the same workers as last night stick to being as inattentive as they were and continue to ignore their customers as badly as they did, then Nordstrom Rack won't have any worries. Never anyone to help, not enough help at the registers (always a wait to close out) I don't understand how they operate

wooohooo! Awesome store -- imagine scoring a really nice Valentino for under $800? or some awesome Calvin Klein dresses for under $60! This place is for you. yes, most of it is really bad -- the selection is last year styles or you have to dig in racks and racks of clothes. This is what I do best: dig. I found some really awesome stuff -- you just have to spend the time looking. The key here is DIG! You have to spend a bit of time to MAYBE find something you like. You really have to invest some time to find what you want. Sometimes you come up empty. If you want to find a really nice dress, for WELL under what you'd spend at Saks or even Nordstroms, then you should shop here. Okay, so you won't find any Jimmy Choo's for sale, but you can find some really nice heels or maybe, a really gaudy mens tie :) if you're into that sort of thing :P read more

Great store for your designer fix! Personally most of the clothing never really interested me. An average looking top can be at least $50 even when it's on sale. They do carry a great selection of designer jeans which I have bought a few pairs in the past. Once I bought a bracelet from the Saks line and it broke within 2 weeks! I will not buy any more jewelry from here again... I thought I found a great look-a-like of an Hermes bracelet but for $25... I felt ripped off. But my absolute favorite section is the sunglasses! I've bought Juicy Couture, Fendi, and Chloe for less than $100! Who cares if it's last season's styles? Recently I purchased some amazing Tom Ford sunglasses for only $140! Get a MORE card as well. I had to come here last minute because I needed a dress shirt for my suit. I had originally ordered one at Charles Tyrwhitt online but after 3 weeks it still hadn't arrived so yesterday I had to run and quickly find something as the wedding will be this Saturday and it's in California (I still have to get it tailored so I am short on time). This place is actually pretty nice and clean. Most stuff are have been folded even after many people go through the items. Maybe only the dress shirt section is a bit messy but other than that its pretty good. Typically outlets like these are a giant mess and no one really cares. The lady helping me out was very nice and helpful. Told me what was on sale and what they had going on that week. Thanks Saks Off for saving me last minute! They actually have a decent variety of suits that are cheap when on sale. Maybe I will stop by here again and pick up a work suit one day. read more

Shopping in the area after running some near by errands, my son and I met up with my mother here for some shopping time. When coming in, one of the ladies working the fitting room area was putting close away deliberately pushed me out of her way then looked at me like I was stupid while pushing my son in his stoller. Brushing it off, I continued to shop. No issues but she would stare me down everything she was near by. On my way to try on clothes, the woman who was given the section to monitor, wasn't there. The cashier pointed to the already opened room and told me to proceed. My mother stay outside of the fitting room with my son while I tried things on and she shopped. The dressing room assistant then came back to her designated area after 15 mins. To then yell "ma'am" across the store to tell me she didn't want me in that room. She redirected me to another room. With hair and dirt everywhere. I was disgusted I walked out and left the clothes in there. My mom went to go try on her items, again, queen B wasn't there to do her job, they called her over and she threw a fit telling the other lady, "I left the keys there, I don't want the responsibility of that area" over the Walkman. My mother tried on her items. She comes back to the area knocks on the door to tell her, "I didn't allow you in here ma'am." That's when I told her the other employee did because she wasn't near by. There was this Nigerian woman who spoke little to no English in the room next to my mom--when she came out, the attendant was livid. She asked who let them in without her permission. The lady barely spoke English. When the costumer walked away she made remarks about her being stupid ... I have never in my wildest dreams met anyone who works in retail that has an attitude like that. Horrible service. Dirty dressing rooms... Bad experience. read more

Zero stars if possible for zero service. My first time in here and it will be my last. I hunted down a deal that I thought was too good to be true (Stacy Adams loafers marked $29.99!) and found a couple of other pairs of shoes that I decided to purchase as well. Waited in line for 15 minutes to check out. At checkout I was basically told by the cashier and 2 managers (who couldn't manage their own attitudes, much less a department store) that due to an operational error on Saks part, my shoes were $59.99. I brought it to both managers attention that both shoes are clearly marked and showed them an identical pair marked the same price, but I couldn't convince them to do the right thing. I left without buying anything. Needless to say, I'll will gladly take my $140 and spend it elsewhere. read more

This store is liked by some but I can't say I like it for myself. This place does carry designer clothing but much of it seems to be last year's styles or worse. Some dresses were downright gaudy with too much going on. The same can be said for the accessories, which seemed to be not well made with some looking quite cheap. The clothing as a whole is lower quality than what you'll find at the actual Saks Fifth Avenue store in the Galleria. This IS an OFF 5th, so you cannot expect to find the same top quality or current styles. I noticed a lot of flaws, some very obvious, on the clothing which is a big determent for me. The men's clothing didn't fare any better. Clothing for the men seemed to be even more tacky. Dress shirts were overpriced for the quality. Most of the ties were loud and not ties that guys would usually wear. The retro 70s Tshirts were cute and were actually the only things in the store that was cute. Sadly, those too were overpriced and not the best in quality with the Tshirt material being so thin it was see through on some. I was not impressed by this store and it's not for me. I know opinions vary greatly when it comes to clothing shops and there are people who like it here. I like to know I'm getting top quality clothing that will continue to look good after washes/cleanings. I did not feel I would get it here and I won't be shopping here. read more

This location is horrible; the clothes are not in the right places, the sizes are mismatched with the hangers, there was only one customer service agent there to help a waiting line of 4 people, and when I did get checked out the lady at the register was unaware of how to do a return/purchase. read more

I walked in here for the first time a few days ago. Some clothes seemed pretty basic and some seemed REALLY high end. Upon checking on the price tags, I decided I better get out of there. A regular & plain tank top was on SALE for $39! I saw a bunch of basic looking clothes for over $100! Granted, these may be high end brands with better quality, but I'm not the kind of person that can justify spending that much on a single article of clothing. First timer, and last timer. Lack of and alarmingly bad customer service. I picked out shoes and socks, I noticed I left my phone in the car so I asked the cashier if she could hold it for me, she said fine and said she would tag it. I came back in, and that particular cashier was not there, maybe at lunch. i waited in line about 25 minutes! Only 3 people in front of me. I left and walked to another store and was going to come back later. came back and again 17 minutes with only one person in front of me. Some lady named Mona, ; ( I had to ask because no one wears name tags!! ) If she could get the clothes I had held. She took a few minutes as she was texting on her cell phone, then she looked at me crazy and told me they don't hold clothes, so she wouldn't know where it could be... She then got on her walkie talkie to have the manager come to the register. Manager did nothing, they never found the shoes, they were not restocked; I checked. Horrible! My sister and I wanted to surprise our mother with a purse she's been keeping her eye on for a while. So we called saks to put the purse on hold. We were put on hold for a good while then a guy picked up the call and asked what We were trying to put on hold. My sister described the purse to him "its a MK olive brown "raven" purse long shoulder tote" she even gave him the number on tag. He wasn't even sure what number it was so she have him all the numbers on the tag. It still took him a while to find it. So we were put on hold again. Now both my sister and I have worked at places like that and we both know that we should double check with the customer and re describe it to them just to be sure that we have the correct item. This guy didn't. All he asked was how long did we want to put it on hold and we told him we were about to get there and that was that. We get to the store and we go up to the desk and ask for the purse. It's a lady this time and she shows us a black one and my sister and I both tell her that that's not the purse we tell her it's a brown olive MK raven purse she comes out with a olive MK purse we look at each other and tell her no again. I walked off to go look for the purse. She gives my sister a mean tone of voice and says "well then we don't have it" and calls for the next customer. I walk back to my sister and tell her I found it. Now we were already upset because they messed up the holding order and I walk over to the lady and tell her that I found the purse and I need help to get it. I'm waiting there for about 2-3 minutes then walk back and tell a different lady I need help at the MK purse. The lady kindly helps us and we proceed with the check out. Yes we got the purse and all but the thing that upset us was they messed up the holding order, we were given an attitude, and the first time I asked for help we weren't given the help. read more

Santa brought me some designer shoes from here that didn't fit. I had shopped here before and thought the store very nice to look at, but the selection and prices disappointing so I hadn't been back. So, I went to return/exchange the shoes and found things weren't much better. I didn't want to hurt hubby's feelings, so I did try to find some other shoes, but to no avail. Terrible, boring, selection. Worse than I recalled. Looked like hoochie shoes. I tried the clothes, and laughed at the 'sale' of $100.+ jeans marked down from $200.+ The clothes selection was meant for teens, and the very few designer pieces, such as St. John, were the dregs and in maybe 2 sizes. If you are a size 0-2, you may get lucky here, otherwise, skip it. The designer purses were not the same styles I saw in Saks, so I think they do what TJXX Corp. does, and order special off-price styles for their discount stores. Therefore, the retail price is bogus that they are supposedly marking down from. They have no sheets or towels that I could see, and their jewelry selection was okay, but again, overpriced. Instead I found a pair of Kate Spade sunglasses with no price tag or sensor on them. They were the only pair like it, and the only pair I liked amongst again, a 2nd tier designer sunglasses offering. It took them 30 min. to get a price and sell them to me, but at least I didn't go home empty handed and hubby was happy. There are much better places to shop, so I'd say skip it. read more

So I got some shoes for my son's birthday. He gave them back for me to return. I was not able to do so because they were past the 30 days. I was met with the most rude and unhelpful store manager. She said that sometimes the computer lets you return after 30 days but she REFUSED to try. Please stay away from this place if you are gift shopping.
