The food here was lovely. I came for an event that was held in their private room. It was a very crowded night, but our food was very timely. I was looking forward to celebrating with friends as they welcome a baby. Uptown Grill set aside a spacious room and dedicated a server to the shower. The space featured tall shelves filled with wine bottles; the tables were nicely decorated for an afternoon of food, conversation, and camaraderie. Towards the back, long tables were set up for a buffet lunch. The meal was delicious. The Michigander salad was incredible, full of candied walnuts, dried cherries, and blue cheese, served with a cherry vinaigrette. The breadsticks were large, fluffy, chewy, and liberally coated with Parmesan. I savored every bite of this carby treat and marveled at my willpower for only having just one. I would return just for the breadsticks, alone. And the salad. Let's not forget the salad. As well, there was a selection of sandwiches available. I selected the club, which included layers of deli meats, cheese, lettuce and tomatoes, on toast, with mayo. So indulgent! The server was fantastic. Despite the large crowd, she ably provided drinks and refills and cleared plates efficiently. Note, like many suburban restaurants, parking isn't a problem. So I've been here a few times and each time i get more & more disappointed and i have vowed to never come here again the only reason i kept trying with this place is the servers and the food is pretty good. The managers here however are absolutely atrocious, rude, disrespectful, unhelpful and so many other things. The servers here are amazing and deserve so much better. Eric the manager deserves to be fired and does not know how to speak with guests respectfully without having an attitude I've also witnessed him yell at several servers LOUDLY in front of the entire restaurant which is no way to professionally behave. This place is huge and has an even huger parking lot. In keeping with that theme, the portion quantities are hugest of all. I ordered their Cobb salad, and it was too much for even me to finish. That's too bad because it tasted great, with plenty of bacon and avocado. My wife ordered nachos, expecting that my salad wouldn't be enough for me and we could share. Turns out, the delicious nachos are enough for a small village, and predominantly cheese. They are also delicious. Just don't expect to finish them by yourself. read more

The egg sandwich folds the egg thinly over itself several times to achieve a true sandwich filling, uses the freshest lettuce and tomato and is served in a cheese brioche type bread that's properly grilled on the inside first! (Comes with home fries) The sausage and egg biscuit is equally impressive with a delicious gravy The children's combo is amazing for the price!! Definitely going back! I had the steak bites with a side of rice pilaf. The steak was nice, tender, and flavorful. The rice pilaf was very good as well. The server was great. The restaurant is huge (and rightly so). The crowd was steady. The bathrooms are clean. The restaurant is clean and overall, I can see why this place huge. There are several things going on. It had carrots and peas and seasoned very well The steak was tender and full of flavor. I also ordered the firecracker shrimp and chicken. All delicious! I also had the home fries (which they give plenty of). They're nicely seasoned. My server was awesome. She was attentive, professional, and friendly. I went around 10:30 am and the restaurant had some people in there, but I was able to pick where I wanted to be seated. Eventually, though, more people started coming into the restaurant for this phenomenal food. The restaurant is very clean with a laidback atmosphere. We come here occasionally to meet a fellow group of Ford retiree's where we have always been very pleased with the quality and taste of the food. On this most recent excursion my Cattleman's burger was one the best Burgers I have had in a while in this area where it was well cooked with excellent taste where the Barbecue sauce, thick cut bacon and fried onions really take this burger over the top. The size of this burger is quite large and if you are in a mood to share this is definately an option with this sandwich. The accompany fries ($1.50 upcharge) were crunchy and equally tasty and the perfect complement to the burger. My better half had the Salmon dinner and was equally pleased with her food. Probably my only gripe with this meal was the house cab (cant remember the brand) as it definately was not to my liking where as it had an odd taste. I have had their house cabs before at this restaurant with never an issue but this one seemed to have an odd taste and potentially could be attributed to a bad cork. At the end of the day this was a small nuisance as the food more than compensated for the wine. Relative to the restaurant itself and the service, this restaurant definitely is a very casual environment (shorts and t shirts fine in the summer) that can accommodate a lot of folks. It has a large bar area which is very popular and multiple dining area's to include a large screened porch area which is great when the weather is nicer. Service here has always been very friendly and prompt with nice follow up during the meal. All things considered really a nice place to come for a casual meal and drink where you can expect good food at a reasonable cost with friendly service. What more can you ask for! read more

8 years later so it's time to update this review! The food at Uptown is consistently delicious. I've been there multiple times over the years because my parents live five minutes away. Today I met a friend there for lunch. I really like that the restaurant part is separate from the bar, it feels like two different restaurants. I always get a booth and they're very comfortable. I also usually order the same dish... The chicken piccata, which is made with a housemate lemon butter sauce. Uptown isn't cheap (entrees are like $10-20) but you can get a half portion of any pasta dish until 4pm daily. The chicken piccata is like $11.99 and still a huge portion. My friend got the ahi tuna salad, and we split the Brussels sprouts appetizer, which was fine but could have used more balsamic. Waitservice was good and usually is, too. For some reason today a different waitress took over midway through our meal, but I never had to wait long for water refills. My friend asked for butter to go with our breadsticks (came with our salad/pasta dishes) and the second waitress asked if we wanted garlic butter... Yes, please! It was fantastic. Overall I really like this place, and would probably go here more often if I lived in the area. It's always super busy, but there is plenty of on-site parking, too. read more

So we came here for lunch. . .finally after driving by and people telling us and talking about it.  We came in and walked right up to the hostess and were immediately seated.  We asked if we could have a booth, that's kind of our thing, she asked "for two?"  Yup!  She took us into the dining room and seated us at a table and walked away.  Then we waited and watched two more tables be seated near us (in booths I might add) and brought water.  Finally our server came over.   We asked about the seating and it was like talking to a brick wall.  Every excuse in the books to why we couldn't be seated in the manner we asked for.  We almost left but didn't.  We ordered some Firecracker shrimp, which was very good, a bit sweet for me but good.  I had the Twisted Reuben, She had the Detroiter. The Detroiter comes with Cole slaw on board but she asked to have it on the side.  She actually had a tiny conversation about that wiyh our server.  A side of slaw came, but they didn't leave it off the sandwich like she asked.  Both sandwiches were very good.  It wasn't anything you couldn't get at a really good Coney Island but the price was relatively reasonable.  The moral here is that we'll try here again for the food, but we'll be diligent about seating and anything we want that's not a menu cutter meal.  Food rating. . .3   Service rating. . .1 read more

The menu is very extensive so everyone can find something good. I had the truffle Mac with steak tips. It was oilier than I would like, but it had a nice rich truffle flavor. All of my friends and I loved our food, and everything seemed reasonably priced. We all got beers too and I was impressed with the large draft beer selection. Only reason for 4 star rating is because of the waitress I had. She was nice but frequently forgot things and messed up our bills twice! She was very apologetic though.
