Our friends having fun at Uptown Grille
Russ R.

I grew up around Detroit but I reside in Jacksonville Florida now. My wife and I flew up to the Detroit area for a concert along with a few days with friends and family. Someone I know suggested Uptown Grille as a good place for a large group. I'm glad they did! There were 10 of us so I can't speak to all of the food everyone had but I can speak to the treatment we received, which was top notch. I am really mad at myself because I can't remember the name of the gentleman who waited on our group but he was GREAT. He had a young lady with him that he was training on July 1st, 2025 so I hope that helps. Both him and her were so nice to everyone in our group through the whole night. I wish they could've waited on us at the next place we went to, but that's for another (unfortunately bad) review. We are just very happy to have had this great experience at Uptown Grille tonight.

Nachos. Amazing.

First time here. Very interesting place. It has something for everyone. Nice dining room on the east side, bar atmosphere in the middle, a large enclosed and heated patio-like vibe on the west side. A bit loud there, which is where we sat. The menu also has something for everyone. Breakfast, lunch, dinner and snackers. We tried a salad, nachos and wings. All were great! On a Saturday evening there were two birthday party tables nearby who seemed to have a great time. The band was awesome (Love Junkies). About 9pm it turns into more of a night club. Our server, Bianca, was wonderful. Very attentive and on point. Super friendly too. Check out their menu. I usually steer away from places if the menu is too large. They got it though. My sense is that the kitchen is very well managed, as is the front of the house. We will be back.

Very busy and very loud on a Friday night. Live music in the bar area and a private party with maybe Karaoke happening in another room. Food was okay for what I ordered; Steakhouse handheld and fries. Everyone else got pasta and had a ton of leftovers.

Peanut Butter Explosion. Yum.

Great lunch today. Stopped in after appointment at West Bloomfield Henry Ford. Sorta busy. We sat in main dining room. Very clean. Hostess was very polite and wanted us to be patient as there was only 1 server. And that was Maria. She was fantastic. Very friendly and attentive even though she was busy. We ordered the lunch portions of chicken picatta and bourbon street mac n cheese. Lunch portions my behind. Absolutely huge. Way too much for 1 eater. Chicken picatta had lots of lemon caper butter sauce and plenty of artichokes. Plenty of tender chicken. Bourbon Street mac was very good. Had a creole sauce that was just above my heat level but I still enjoyed it. Lots of red and green peppers. Applewood smoked bacon was a nice culinary touch. My wife ordered a Peanut Butter Explosion with ice cream for dessert. Also enough for 2. Brownie, peanut butter mousse, vanilla ice cream, and some chocolate drizzle. Very happy with the service and the food. Traffic on Maple rd. can be a bite at the wrong time of day but this is still a go to place in my book. And ask for Maria.

Turkey burger with asparagus

The chicken Parmesan was just ok, the garlic bread had no flavor at all but the turkey burger was thee best thing I've ever had. I will definitely be coming back for that. At first I wasn't going to have dessert but I have never heard of a waffle cake so we all split it. This thing was heaven. I was not prepared for how good that waffle was. Very soft yet crisp with a vanilla buttery flavor and then the whipped cream and fruit add to the magic. The ice cream is just a bonus to bring the symphony of flavor together perfectly!

Finally was able to make it into Uptown and of course it was very busy like always. Staff were very friendly in recommending the best spot to sit (since it was cool outside) and at getting us seated quickly. Our waitress did take a lot of time to come to our table (about 15 minutes after sitting) and we finally flagged down the two gentleman that were the hostess. They right away got our waitress to the table. We put in our orders and waited maybe 10 minutes for our appetizers and another 15 for our food. This all came at perfect timing. I was happy to be able to enjoy my appetizers in peace and not be rushed with my entree. We did order from the bar and were happy because there were non-alcoholic spirits/beer to choose. The food was actually very delicious. I'm not a fan or "bar food", but this didn't tasted anything of that nature. Food was hot and fresh. Nothing tasted frozen at all. Chicken wings were very good. The steak bites were very delicious. I ordered the uptown chicken which came with some potatoes and green beans. This dish was very good, but maybe I would ask for sauce in the side. Just a personal preference. The chicken was seasoned so well! And you get two pieces which is nice. My friend ordered the fried perch and said it was good. Fish was crispy and not soggy. Overall the steak bites might have been my favorite thing I tried today. Their breadsticks were great too. We left as the band was setting up which would have been amazing to see. The menu has a lot of kid friendly items and items for many dietary restrictions. Definitely recommend this restaurant for a family putting, party, solo dinner, anything you want. You will not be disappointed.

From a simple dinner to hosting a celebration, every experience has been wonderful. My only comment--more of a suggestion than a complaint--is that it would be great to have more options for grilled vegetables, not just steamed, especially for larger parties. From management to the greeters, and especially the wait staff, everyone has always been top-notch.

Good, fast, reliable place for brunch and casual food. Always really great service here. They have THE best breakfast potatoes not sure what kind of seasoning it is, but I love them. Also, Sundays they have $3 bloody Mary's which in today's drink pricing is basically free!!

As you know, it rare from this Yelp account to give 5 stars. EBS was picky and I am keeping up his legacy. But great food with friendly service that is there when you need them, and lots of free parking, they earned it. Also the ability to make reservations for a group of friends so separate checks is a must is at times hard to find. Everytime I drive past, the lot is almost filled. So I booked a Memorial Day lunch for my Meetup group. That filled up quickly and hardly any dropped out. Kitchen was at times a little slow, but that is getting to be the normal lately. But the huge nachos appetizer help with the wait. I took some home and it warmed up well. I ordered the strip steak for $28 which is a bargain right now. It was large enough for me to take 2/3 of it, the wild rice and the asparagus home and they tasted great even warm up. One other order it too and told me he was happy he did. Others loved what they ordered. While I didn't get a chance to photograph the adult drinks menu, but the few that ordered beer and wine was satisfied with their choice. Those of us that ordered dessert share some with others. The bumpy cake is one of the reasons we will be back. Parking is easy with the size of the lot, you may have to walk a little. Some handicap parking is right across from the door but not sure if it will be enough when they are busy. I was told to book this again in the fall. A few plan to eat here more often.

The…read moremenu for this restaurant falls along the lines of an expanded bar/Bistro menu with a heavy emphasis on sandwiches, wraps and burgers. Having heard good things about their Burgers I opted to go with their Classic Cheeseburger and fries for $15 and two of their house margarita's which were the drink of the day on Tuesdays for $5 apiece. Realtive to the burger, it was quite large at 1/2 lb and definately a two hander. It was well made, quite juicy, with fresh veggies and very very tasty. The fries were well made as well with a nice crunchy texture and quite tasty in their own right. Lastly my two Margarita's very well made and oh so good where I had only planned on getting one but opted for two after the first sip. NICE! At $5 a piece this was an absolute steal! Relative to facility and staff, the restaurant is visually very appealing with vibrant Irish accents, neon sign's everywhere and TV's scattered to allow you to watch the big game of the day while enjoying your meal. The decor defiantely adds a lot to the dining experience. Staff was very friendly with great follow up throughout. Overall this is a great bar/restaurant whose reputation is well deserved. I definately will be returning in the near future, probably on a Tuesday, so I can get some more of those tasty margarita's. :)

So, we asked Maddy our waitress for some patience .. and she was stellar. She gave recommendations, was knowledgeable on the menu, and had a great attitude overall. We ordered several different things to share with each other... For appetizers, we had potstickers, calamari, and some crab cakes. The potstickers were crisped up well, but tasted pretty standard. The crab cakes were thick, meaty, and tasted good. I like mine a bit more crisped and crunchy, but everyone has their style. They were good. Lastly, what really did it for me, was the calamari. Capers, lemon, seafood..... it was cooked perfectly. It did not have the rubbery bite like most places. It was hot, and still had a good bite to it. One of the best calamari apps, i have probably ever had. Entrees... I had the firecracker chicken pasta and a wedge salad. The wedge was... interesting. It came out with the standard lettuce wedge, but all of the toppings were on the side. Slices of onion and tomato, two full pieces of bacon, and an egg. I am typically accustomed to having everything chopped and on the salad.. so i had to cut everything up at the table. It wasnt bad, just odd. BOOM! FIRECRACKER Chicken Pasta. Dried cherries, sun dried tomatoes, asparagus, spicy pasta sauce.... man.... this was delicious. It was actually so good, I contemplated on getting one to go for my fiancé to eat. This was a home run entree. Compliments to whomever had the idea. Desserts Of course, nothing wraps up a bro dinner like sharing a few desserts... We had the tiramisu and the churro cake. The tiramisu was cold, coffee, creamy, delicious. The churro cake was a perfect contrast in warm cinnamon, savory, sponge.... they were both great options. Maddy did an excellent job. The kitchen did an amazing job. It was a great experience for this out of towner.

I arrived early to sample their Happy Hour where I got a Tommy Margarita which was one of four cocktail choices on the Happy Hour menu where the other choices are an Old Fashion, Lemon Drop Martini and a Black Manhattan. All of which I personally am a fan of. Relative to my Margarita, it was very well made with 2 full ounces of Blanco Tequila as the base and quite tasty. Definately a drink with a kick and not a watered down version you get at most other bars in the area. At $8 it's a pretty good deal in my opinion especially for a drink of this quality. Relative to Dinner my wife got the White Fish dinner and I got the Milanese Chicken. Both dishes were excellent where they were cooked to perfection and were delicious. Prices on the menu were a tad high in my opinion but the old adage that you get what you pay for applies here and is definately worth the cost in my opinion. Appetizer was the Calamari which was well made and quite tasty in its own right. Relative to staff and facility, the facility is very classy with a nice contemporary flair to it, Definately an upscale feel to it where both the bar and the dining area offer an elevated dining/drinking experience. Staff was super friendly with great follow up where the bar can be a tad slower as only one bartender was working while I was there but he did a fairly good job of keeping up with the orders and high marks for his efficiency. Overall a great classy restaurant with a nice Happy Hour makes this a destination restaurant worth the trip if you live outside this area. For discerning customers who prize Quality in what they eat and drink this is a business not to be missed!
