While visiting Ireland we had our first dinner here and it was amazing! First off the place is so cool with lots of history. Second the place was decorated for Christmas and they out did themselves. This place was near our hotel, which seems to be in a virtual food desert. The duck was excellent, although the portion was small. The endive salad and goat cheese salad was also very good. The sticky toffee pudding was very good. The fried calamari appetizer was very good. They initially seated us upstairs, on the ground floor, which is mainly a bar and was way too loud. We asked to be moved downstairs and, after some brief, light resistance, were given a table downstairs, where it was much more comfortable. This is our third day in Dublin and this was our best meal so far. read more

Urban Brewing was fantastic! We had a reservation for 20:30 and they sat us in the underground dining area in a big booth. The underground ambiance was romantic but still perfect for family or friends as well. The service was amazing! We had Melanie who was attentive and personable and got the rounds of drinks and food to us quickly and efficiently. The food was great, with some standout highlights such as the calamari, fried potatoes, peppers and lamb flatbread. This is one of my favorite restaurants of all time. My wife and I have been here 6-7 times and generally order the food and beer pairing menu. The four course meals are perfectly paired with their craft beers. The starters are generally a tuna, followed by some raw fish. The main has been a duo of Irish beef followed by a cake with a caramel sauce. I could eat this every day, but would have to exercise a lot to keep my weight down! The beers are amazing from the saison to the red IPA. I was sad recently they were fully booked on a Sunday night, so plan ahead and book a table. I love this place! read more

Craft beer tasting with tapas! As you walk up to Urban Brewing, the place is just buzzing with energy. Outdoor sitting with fun music flows out of the establishment. While their is a full dining menu, I opted to descend underground to enjoy their tapas offering. It takes a few seconds for your eyes to adjust to the dimmer lighting. But when it does, the scene is amazing. You pass a cage of wine and spirits, then enter into what was a former underground storage area for the shipyard. Curved wall tunnels are brightly decorated with food photos. They have about a dozen craft brews on tap. For €12, you can do a beer sampler flight and choose 4 brews. I went with the O'Hare lager, O'Hare nitro amber, O'Hare stout, and another lager similar to Heineken. All of the beers had a distinct profile that were unique and delicious. My favorite was the amber nitro. Feeling peckish, I tried a range of tapas with prices ranging from €5-€12 per plate. The winners in my book were the polenta fries, rump steak and pork cheek slider. Service was attentive and friendly. Water glasses were refreshed regularly and food came out quickly. I think this place is a gem of a find. Great to go with friends where you can sample and share. Will be back to try more! read more

Service was terrible. Our waitress told us that our food would be slow because the chef was under pressure. A couple came part way through our wait and got their food 15 minutes before we did even though we ordered well over 30 minutes before. Our waitress came up to us again and said, "I'm sorry, you will have to wait another few minutes, it's just so hard today!" and we were okay with it. In total, we waited probably 45 minutes for food. The food was great! I ordered tapas and they were excellent! Even though they were all really good, they weren't worth the wait. If you are okay with waiting awhile for great food, I would recommend this place. But if you don't have a good 2 hours to spare, don't go here. read more

Husband and I tried this place on our honeymoon trip based on Instagram and while the food was great the service and the prices were terrible! I have been to upscale resturants before and while this place is comparable, €5 for water, really? And the average glass of wine going for a minimum of €8? Ok, but then waiting and waiting and waiting for drinks, then a a longer wait for the check....too much waiting for €21 chicken. To be clear a drink served on the rocks should come with 1 maybe 2 large pieces of ice that will melt slowly and not dilute the spirit; not a glass full like you are making a cocktail. Atomosohere was lovely, if a bit loud (not romantic at all) and club like; obviously as we are on holiday we will not be back but I feel there were quite a few other options for the money. read more

Super friendly hostess saw we had a party of 7. We wanted drinks maybe tapas. We were seated in the downstairs dinning room which was empty. We decided on only drinks. Our server initially was going to have us move to the bar after informing us the tables were only for eating and then told us the hostess was new and didn't know better. Extremely lucky find for a weary jet-lagged customer. We entered about 10 minutes before the tapas kitchen closed. We picked out a blue cheese flatbread and crab tempura. Both excellent. Beers excellent. Walked out with a bill under €50, which included a 11% tip. During our stay in Dublin, we went to Urban Brewing twice --- once on a busy Friday night for dinner (in the amazing underground dining area) and another time just for drinks on Sunday evening. The meal was one of the best we've ever had! My spouse had the steak, which was truly melt-in-your-mouth tender, and I had the pork confit, which was delicious. Our sides were also fantastic. The beers were very enjoyable as well. As people who visit many microbreweries in the US, we wondered what the microbrewery scene would be like in Ireland. Urban Brewing certainly didn't disappoint! Right now they have a great nightlife with the dance music pumping - but it makes enjoying the food very difficult bc it was way to loud to have a conversation. While music pumping is great for a bar scene - it's less attractive for a 100 euro meal. read more
