Every single component in the dish harmonizes with each other so well---it felt like it dissolved all conflict in my body and world. Samosa - crunchy, spicy, savory, and sweet when used with the tamarind sauce. Warm. Another very comforting item. A delight to my senses. This is a fantastic spot for Burmese food--authentic and absolutely delicious! My favourite is the golden triangle tofu; they get it just right with a perfectly crispy exterior and an airy, soft inside, exactly how it should be. First off, Top 5 restaurant in Colorado! The owner and staff are so hospitable and serve the best Burmese cuisine in the country! Everything from their noodle dishes and curries and amazing appetizers. Their food truck offers the same quality as the actual restaurant. There's so much I can say about this small business but please support them, everything I've had here is delicious and it's always a great time chatting with the family who runs the stall. Tea leaf salad is my go to when I come here. It's a right balance of herbs and saltiness. The crunch from the soybeans pair with the variety of greens in this salad. I've had tea leaf salad elsewhere but they are consistent here and offer the right blend of flavors. The golden tofu triangles.....WOW! I could eat a million of these! OMG, I have not had Burmese food in 7 years!!! Here in Denver for apartment hunting and this was the first stop! I love tea leaf salads and was super excited to find this gem! Its located in a plaza with other restaurants including Indian cuisine and Swahili. Weird feeling because I had just returned from Nepal from the Everest Basecamp Trek. Felt like I never left. There are parking on the street or in the back, so no fret. The restaurant is small, but don't judge a book by the cover. The staff were really friendly as I walked up and realized that I've never been there before when I placed the order. How do they know that?? I wanted to try everything, but my little tummy wouldn't be able to handle it so I ordered the platter. It gives me a little bit of everything - tea leaf salad, a samosa, and curry with rice. Took less than 10 mins and I was on my way. Enjoyed it at the hotel and it did not disappoint. It was more than enough for me and it was absolutely delicious! Tea leaf is on point and the samosa really surprised me. After being in the container for at least 15 mins, I presume it would be a bit soggy on a side or corner but it wasn't!!! And it was so good and crunchy! I had the chicken curry last, but that brought my palette back to a zing. I think I had a bite of everything all at once because it was so good and it was the only I ate that day. There's a lot I love about the city I live in, but unfortunately, it does not have good Burmese food (I'm not sure it even has Burmese food). I wish it had a place like Urban Burma, where the food is good. I especially loved the pae paratha. Came here because of the good reviews and also wanted to try Burmese food. It's actually one of the restaurants in Mango House food court. Got to talk to the owner and he described some of the dishes to us. The owner was very nice and patient with us ordering. We ordered the Nan Gyi Dok with chicken, Sii Cheh Kao Sweh with chicken, and chicken curry. All were delicious! The tastes were very similar to Thai food. The food came out pretty fast. Came here after Wings Over the Rockies Air & Space Museum. It was also my first time at Mango House, so the set up was a bit confusing to me, but you just park in the back parking lot or on the street and walk through the food court towards the front. We met the owner when we were ordering and asked for some recommendations. Ended up with Golden Triangle (fried chick pea tofu with tamarind sauce), Sii cheh kao sweh (fried garlic, sesame oil, green onion, marinated chicken noodles), and a Burma sampler which comes with small but substantial portions of samosa, tea leaf salad, and curry of your choice with rice. We opted for the pork and pickled mango one as that seemed the most unique. All of the dishes were simple but very well cooked and fairly priced for the portion. It's hard to say what was our favorite because I can't say no to a noodle or rice dish, but the Golden Triangle was very unique and I hadn't had this style of fried tofu anywhere else. The owner had mentioned it was a Burma specialty. Staff was amazing and the owner came to check in on us and how we liked the food halfway through our meal. I've been here multiple times, and they're excellent as are the other stalls in Mango House There's a wide variety of options, from apps and drinks to hearty salads vs. noodles or curry. Spice levels are adjustable. I *always* get the golden tofu, which is a generous portion of fried housemade chickpea tofu with a tangy sauce. The tofu is crunchy on the outside but super smooth on the inside. I love having the option of getting the shan noodles when I want a soup noodle, or the nan gyi dok for a dry version coated in a curry sauce. Urban Burma is fantastic food stall located inside the Mango House. There are soo many things we wanted to try, but decided on the samosas, tea leaf salad and Shan noodles. At first, we weren't going to get the samosas, but after reading recent reviews on Yelp calling them the best samosas ever, we knew we had to try...and they did not disappoint! So good! They were fried perfectly and the tamarind dipping sauce that you get with them was to die for! The tea leaf salad was a no-brainer for us. We were so intrigued by it's uniqueness (at least to us) and was unlike anything we have had before. The flavor was great and it had such a great mix of textures between the cabbage and the fried peanuts and crunchy lentils. The Shan noodles were really good as well. It was a large portion of rice noodles in a wonderful broth with lots plenty of greens, fried garlic, green onions and sesame seeds. Yesterday was my first time at Urban Burma and so glad that I decided to dine here! It's situated inside Mango Hall which seems to function as a community center, which is great! There are various shops and a food court. It's also on Colfax. You will need to park at the rear of this location. There is a small parking lot in the back and street parking as well. First off, staff is very friendly here. I ordered the "Taste of Burma" sampler. It features their tea leaf salad, choice of curry, samosa and a small serving of vegetable. The Tea Salad is outstanding! I would return here just to order that and take one home as well, it's that good! The samosa was delicious as well. The beef curry I ordered was okay. It didn't impress me that much. For dessert I ordered their Banana Paratha (roti style fried dough with banana and sweetened condensed milk). The first few bites were okay. However, as I continued eating it, I was very impressed! I would order this again as well. Also, I ordered their Burmese Iced Tea. It is very similar to Thai Iced Tea! I thought the Burmese Iced Tea was really good. Overall, I very much enjoyed my visit here and look forward to returning again. I recommend taking your time to browse around shops after your meal or visit other restaurants to see what they offer for your next meal here. 3.5/5. I stopped by around lunchtime on a Friday and got the sampler (tea leaf salad, a choice of curry -- I went with chicken, and a samosa). I found the samosa and chicken curry to be pretty disappointing; both lacked the flavor punch I was expecting, and I truthfully found the chicken curry to be quite watery and flavorless. I rarely throw out food, but I did not finish the chicken curry. The tea leaf salad was really interesting and such a unique combo of flavors. I am a noodle lover and think I probably just ordered poorly here. I was too eager to get the sampler (comes with choice of curry), and think my experience would have been different if I just chose one of the tasty-looking noodle dishes instead. This was my first time trying Burmese food, but Indian and Thai are two of my favorite cuisines, so I planned on having a wonderful meal here since it is advertised as a fusion of the two. It's a food stall in a food court with several other ethnic foods that I must try next time. Try the Ono Kao Sweh- a creamy coconut base soup with complex flavors and seasoned bites of chicken, the Nan Gyi Dok- a Mandalay based noodle dish w some seasoned chicken. Myanmar (formerly Burma) is a Southeast Asian nation of more than 100 ethnic groups with a diverse cuisine. Siri is the friendly owner open the restaurant in 2019 and it's first Burmese restaurant. Flavors are similar to Thai and Indian. Par Paratha is a nice starter similar to a stuffed naan bread. I prefer the (Nan Gyi Dok) thick noodles more and the chicken broth was flavorful. Next I want to try the Kao Sweh (flat noodles) I'm guessing it's related to the Thai dish Khao Soi but with drunken noodles. The fried rice looks dope too. Next door "jasmine Syrian food" is also good. The community center is a refugee heath clinic and a few other small shops all located in the building. Definitely a cool experience and there's even a ping pong table and playground for kids. read more

The setup here is unusual, you have to enter in the back door, and when you do, you're in a larger space called Mango Hall, which identifies itself as a home for refugees of all stripes and houses numerous international businesses. Their website states they are not a nonprofit, prefer to keep much of their affairs private, and ask the public to support them mainly by patronizing the shops and the takeout restaurants which form a small food hall in the center. It feels like being in another country. The furniture is pretty sketch, and the sounds of children running around echo loudly. The vibe is very different. Don't get me wrong, I'm not against it, but know what you're getting into. The Burmese stall at the end seemed easily the busiest of the food options, but I certainly thought some of the others looked trying, especially if you have a group that can spread the wealth a bit. Burma is geographically at a crossroads, and the cuisine characteristically combines tons of different flavors together. I got a salad with fried triangles of a chickpea-based tofu unique to the region, as well as a lentil soup with diced samosas in it. Both were dynamic in flavor and filling. They seemed to be offering beverages of some sort as well, though I couldn't discern a menu for those. The food is very friendly to special diets, with plenty of vegan and gluten-free options. They were busy and I didn't get quite the in-depth conversation that some other reviewers described, but they were friendly people. You can tell the food is carefully prepared, and I'm sure authentic, although I've never had Burmese food before. This restaurant is one of several small eateries in a large warehouse type space, interestingly enough there's also a doctor's clinic and a few ethnic clothing shops. Anyhow, I ordered the fermented tea salad that was so highly recommended by another poster, along with golden triangle salad, and both gf. My husband had the beef curry with rice. The beef (which I tasted a few cubes of) tasted amazing and incredibly tender! Wonder how they do that? It's not a thick curry like Indian or Thai style. Despite it being "mild", for me it burned on my throat, though hubby didn't notice anything. The fermented tea leaf salad must be an acquired taste, most unusual. I didn't care for it at all and left the majority. The golden triangle salad was more accessible but still not a flavor I cared for, and also was spicy for me at mild. Don't let that stop you from giving Urban Burma a try or any of the other ethnic eateries there. Gotta be adventurous! read more

When simple dishes completely blow you away, that's when my passion for local businesses amplifies from 10 to 11. Owned by two brothers, Siri and Martin, Urban Burma is a taste of their homeland. Tea Leaf Salad // fermented tea leaves, cabbage, tomatoes, garlic, fried peanuts, and crunchy yellow lentils. If there's a salad worth raving about, this is the one. One of the more unique and unexpected flavor combinations I've consumed recently. This is the best salad I've ever had! Burmese Fried Rice // egg, peas, carrots, celery, green onions, add chicken. By the looks of it, it looks like classic takeout fried rice. When you look closer, you see there's no excess oil and that each grain of rice is separated, which is no easy feat! This is what fried rice SHOULD taste like. Absolutely phenomenal! The menu has so many other delicious items on it, like noodles, curries, samosas and soups. I encourage anyone not to be deterred by its remote location or the thought of "Burmese food." This needs to become a more common avenue for American dining, the flavors are exceptional. (I wish I got his name ) The menu is smaller, but I liked it because you don't get overwhelmed at the choices. My bf ordered the chicken curry, and I got the nan gyi dok. Both were delicious. We also got two ginger mint spritzers, great to cool down your palate after the spice in the dishes. We finished it off with the banana paratha. I got there just before their formal closing time (it looks like they were already winding down for the night), but they were still willing to let me order. The food was delicious - big, hearty portions and very reasonable prices. I took my food to go, and it held up well even after checking into the hotel and unpacking a little bit. I ordered a curry and a side dish - I appreciate they separated the noodles from the curry. I love that this was also located inside a center for immigrants and immigrant families. It looks like they help small businesses in here and also help immigrant families in need, so it feels good supporting a good cause. There are several restaurants in this area (including a delicious Ethiopian restaurant that I tried), so you are able to try different cuisines. The best Burmese food here! Shan noodles has a little kick to it but the chicken broth is amazing. Not too oily either. Tea leaf salad reminds me of the korean kongnamool. It balances well with the Shan noodles. The samosas are the best I ever had. Hands down. Highly recommend this place. It's in a food court of an international mall and the entrance is a little confusing. It looks like you are entering a condo building but you're not. Denver was missing a Burmese restaurant, and this place nailed it! my partner and I went to Oakland last summer, and our friends took us to a Burmese restaurant there. It was some of the best food we had ever eaten, & as soon as we got home we looked up Burmese restaurants in Denver and were super disappointed to learn that there weren't any. As you can imagine, we were super excited to hear about Urban Burma opening! I ordered the garlic noodles (sii cheh kao sweh) with tofu, he ordered the stir fried veggies with chicken, & we split an order of samosas - honestly everything was soo incredibly tasty, I have absolutely zero complaints. The owner and employee were also both super friendly, both on the phone when I was ordering and in person. Also, the prices are SUPER reasonable with good portion sizes and high quality, fresh food. Met coworkers here for lunch and once I found parking (very tight and not too many spaces), we wondered in. I realized we parked in the rear of the building. Parking in the front appeared even tighter than the rear. What I loved: the interior feels very much like a tight nit community and offers many eateries and businesses. The interior is massive and there are numerous tables for dining, several cozier options near the front entrance and lots of happy folks to help answer questions about food selections. Urban Burma is a stall near the front of Mango House. The gentleman who served us was friendly, attentive and very helpful. The stall was super cute and they seemed to get orders out quickly. I ordered a sampler platter to taste a little of their favorites. We talked about level of spice and after sharing that I'm a huge fan of spice, he offered to do a 3.5 or 3.75 versus a 3 or 4. So thoughtful. The food looked great when it arrived. My only hesitation was the spice level. I'm not sure what might have happened, but there didn't seem to be any spice at all. Everything tasted bland, which was incredibly odd. I'm curious and wondered if maybe the spice wasn't added for some reason, as I cannot imagine the meh flavor was a 3 or 4. Urban Burma is a little hard to find, I got out of the car to find it because although my GPS said I had arrived at my destination (I went around the block twice) but I couldn't find a sign for the restaurant. The building that it is located in makes no mention of U B's location inside. The building is named "Mango House" and inside is a mini food court with besides Burmese food they offer; Ethiopian, Syrian, Asian, Sudanese, and Nepalese fare. When I checked out the menus in front of each stand (just curious, I came for the Burmese) each person behind the counter said hello, and asked if I needed any help, except one guy who couldn't tear himself away from his phone and didn't even acknowledge by presence (the shared dining space that the restaurants share was not busy at all and he could have had a potential customer. Back to U B, I ordered an iced tea, similar in taste to a Thai iced tea which was very refreshing, the Par Paratha, fried dough, stuffed with peas, and onions which was tasty, and the Nan Gyi Dok, which was a noodle dish with curried chicken, topped with egg, cilantro, lime, red onion, and crispy fried onion with broth on the side. I really liked the broth that came with the entree but the noodle dish was way to salty (I like salty but this was almost to much for my taste), the other real flaw was that the chicken was extremely dry making this dish a disappointment. I was curious that when I tried to enter the building I found that it was locked, the owner of U B explained to me that you need to call to get in unless one of the food stall owners sees you at the door and will come over and let you in (like he did for me)... He explained that they have had a lot of trouble with transients coming in without masks and hanging out, with the police having to be called many times...The area on Colfax where Urban Burmese is located is not the best of areas so you are aware. read more

Wow! This unassuming restaurant is some of the best Burmese I have had. Located inside of a food hall in Aurora, this was the popular spot in the mix of restaurants. We had the Tea Leaf Salad, which was best we've had. The Sii Cheh Kao Sweh (garlic noodles) which were amazing and the Chicken Curry, which was thick and full of flavor.
