I was excited to see a nice deli go in near my house and couldn't wait to try it. I visited on a weekday afternoon thinking it wouldn't be busy. There was one person ahead of me and two people working. The person before me ordered a coffee and a salad but it took 20 minutes for my order to be taken. I ordered a wrap and waited 15 minutes for it to be made. While I waited I was looking around the layout of this small shop made it extremely hard to order. The place would be crowded with 5 people inside. As I waited for my wrap, I did the dance of where to stand to wait. My choices were to block the counter, block the door or block the drinks. I ordered the powerhouse wrap and very soon regretted the choice. The wrap just did not taste right but I couldn't figure out what was giving it a horrible sour burnt taste. To finish, I had high hopes for this small shop but they fell faster than a penny from a skyscraper. read more

I actually really enjoyed this place before it moved down Light Street. But recently I had an awful experience when visiting this location for the first time. I went here Sunday around 11 and I left empty handed after 25 minutes. I waited at the counter for 10 minutes before someone took my order and then 3 customers behind me got their order before me. When I inquired about what was going on the woman literally said "I put that wrap down then made the other orders". Then they ran out of the type of wrap I wanted my sandwich on. No apology was made leaving me perplexed about this whole thing. I just left. It had been a total of 25 minutes to attempt to get a chicken salad wrap. Lucky to live so close to this local spot. Typically i get a breakfast Sammie on towson hot bagel, it's delish. The smoothies are healthy addition to the menu. Local Coffee from Latte Da with clever canine assortment of bean names, and even better Latte Da donates % of sales to local animal rescue. read more

Urban Deli is my go-to breakfast place in Fed for a good quality bagel sandwich (from THB) or panini for on the go. Great service and the owner Laura is so personable and accommodating. I've been eating here since they opened at the 1500 block of Light St and followed them to their new location and it's still the same great tasting food and customer service as before. Also - HIGHLY recommended for your catering needs. I have used them for several lunches catered to our office in Harbor East and the sandwiches come fresh and made to order and Laura delivers herself! She even throws in a sandwich for the person ordering. Will continue eating here and using them for catering for years to come. read more

I just stumbled across this place on my usual errand run and wow I am so glad I did! The place is really cute both outside and inside so clean so modern really cute space. The food was just like the space PERFECT! Loved my Nova, fresh bagel, cream cheese thinly sliced onions capers (really tasty smoked salmon)! Urban indeed...if you're looking for fresh you have come to the wrong place. Everything is microwaved seeing as they don't have a grill. Even with such modern conveniences, if you thought you would get your sandwich is under 20 min you were wrong. Saw one guy walk out because they quoted him 25 min for a bagel with cream cheese because they were five tickets deep and overwhelmed. I could have walked to Sams bagels and back in the time it took us to wait for our premade food. read more

An easy choice for a quick bite to eat! I love the staff... cheerful and they know my order by heart after only two visits since the new location opened! The interior is very clean cut, modern, amd welcoming. They had water and treats ready for my pup when I bring her by as well! I obviously havent ventured through much of the menu, but have ordered for friends and they raved (specifically about a grilled chicken mango chutney sandwich). Always a large selection of fresh breads and bagels. I get a blt on sourdough with avocado and sprouts almost every time. Their products are always perfectly fresh! They also serve LaTeDa (sp?) Coffee, which is a local favorite! Even at busier moments, it's always been clean and the staff is always clean cut and helpful. The owner is a true sweetheart to say the least. However, it really shouldn't take 15 minutes to get a sandwich when you are the only one in the restaurant and there are 3 employees... Nice neighborhood spot to grab coffee and a bagel. They serve some Baltimore classics (Zekes coffee and THB bagels). I'm probably go for cream cheese next time instead of an egg sandwich since it looks like they microwave the eggs since their kitchen is small and limited. I just ordered the Turkey soup with carrots. It was served to me cold and broth had absolutely no flavor. Also, the price listed by the register was different than the price I was charged. I had to wait 40 minutes for two bagel sandwiches this morning. This place is good and I really do like it (I go almost every weekend), but come ON. They haven't seemed to figure out how to handle being busy -- I'm glad they are so popular, but they REALLY need to come up with a better system. Orders seem to get filled randomly, not as they come in. It's pretty frustrating to watch people come in after you and leave with their food before you when all you want is a bagel! At the very least, they really need a separate line for pickup vs. order in. It's also on the pricier side for sandwiches. They're good and I'm willing to pay their prices because I like the food and I like having a bagel place around the corner -- but their service has got to improve or I'm going to start thinking twice. read more

This place has a lot of potential. I've been multiple times and the one constant is you will have to wait more than 10 minutes to have your order taken regardless of how many people are in line or if you are the only person in the store. The problem seems to be in efficiency. One person takes orders from customers, but will stop to take call in orders or Uber orders or even orders of people they know that are in line behind you. So if you walk in to the store and are the first person in line, there could be five orders taken in front of yours. I tried to call ahead and was told they don't take call ahead orders of only one bagel. To echo what others have said, the egg breakfast sandwiches are microwaved. THB bagels are a plus, and are the real draw of this shop, but the inability to be efficient and get sandwiches out in less than 15 minutes kills it for me. read more

We've tried Urban Deli for both breakfast and lunch. The fresh bagels and homemade cream cheese are delicious (I love the powerhouse - its only downfall is it costs more than it should in my opinion). Also, the bagels are pretty small in comparison to similar places in the neighborhood. I never leave really feeling satisfied and full. For lunch on a separate occasion, we tried the Reuben, and again, I think it was really expensive for what it was (it doesn't even come with chips). As far as the taste, I found it to be pretty lackluster, as they really skimped on the corned beef! Will we be back? Probably, but for breakfast only and on occasion due to the price. I tried to call an order in but the phone number listed on their menu / Facebook page is disconnected. It wasn't busy at all when I went in to grab lunch (no customers at all, actually) so I got my panini fairly quickly. Want a New York style bagel? This place has it! Perfect exterior with a soft chewy interior. I ordered the Nova and was very pleased, briny capers with red onion, salmon and cream cheese, just delicious. The fruit smoothie was awesome, fresh and filled with all natural ingredients. The service is friendly, excellent and it provided a clean family friendly environment. I will be back tomorrow for breakfast again, yes it is that good! read more

Urban deli is one of the worst delis ever! I don't even know why they reopened. I tried going there 2 times and the first time... I ordered a salad the cheese was moldy and the corn was slimy. I told them and they offered more food instead of a refund. I thought I'd try it one more time just to see if maybe the sandwiches were good I ordered a bacon egg and cheese bagel the eggs were microwaved and it was a long blond hair in my egg! I have enjoyed Urban Deli many times before, but after today, 1 star and I'm pretty sure I won't be back. I waited OVER half an hour for 1 bagel sandwich. It was not that busy, and the person who came in and ordered 10 minutes after me had his order made before me. Since I had to wait, I figured I would watch them make orders (nothing else to do since I left my phone at work). It was chaotic and messy. I am vegan, and admit to being picky, but the way they were handling food was just gross and unsanitary. The same knife used to smear chicken salad and mayonnaise was used on every other sandwich being made. All they did was continually wipe the knife on the same dirty rag over and over. Uh, that doesn't make anything clean; It just makes that rag grosser and grosser and thus the knife which keeps being rubbed all over it. When I saw them begin on my bagel, I verified that it was double toasted, because hey, it's easy forget special requests (especially 30 minutes after it was ordered). I was told yes it was, but nope, it sure wasn't; I was given a cold soft bagel. It immediately went in the trash can at work. Entire lunch period wasted, went over my allowed time and still had no food. I called to get a refund and I was told I could come pick up another (nope, I wasted my entire lunch break and then some waiting on a bagel that wasn't made correctly). I reiterated that I want a refund. She told me I had to come in and pick up the money. Nope, I'm not wasting my time and gas to pick up money. I paid with a card, it can be refunded back to the card. I was hung up on! I called right back in shock that she hung up on me. She gave me more attitude telling me I told you it will be refunded. I asked her how if she doesn't have my card number or how much I paid. Shocker, she didn't have an answer. She took my info and told me to wait for the owner to come in to process it. It was a horrible experience all around which saddens me knowing how good it used to be. Maybe I was just ignorant of it all since I usually order ahead and don't see the mess or know how long they really take. read more

I ordered the Little Italy sandwich on a bagel, and was told that it needed to be on the cibatta bread, because there's no way that huge sandwich would fit on a tiny little bagel. Turns out the real reason was because I was going to be served a pre-made sandwich that had been sitting in the case, and to have one on a bagel would mean that it had to be made fresh on the spot. The sandwich was hardly too large for a bagel, and though it wasn't awful, it definitely wasn't fresh. I wouldn't have been nearly as bothered if they had been up front with me, but they weren't. Additionally, this place also has no lunch combinations, so a bag of chips and a drink costs roughly $3-4 extra, on top of the $8-9 cost of the sandwich, which for something underwhelming in size and not freshly made is overpriced, in my opinion. read more
