Super dinner last night at the 19 restaurant & lounge in Lagunawoods. perfect 74° overlooking the stunning first hole. We all were starving. I ordered the chicken Elizabeth. My wife had the surf and turf and our friend Peter had the swordfish and crab. All the meals were cooked to perfection. I couldn't finish all my chicken Elizabeth too much plump shrimp, moist chicken artichoke hearts mashed potatoes, grapes and vegetables outstanding dish. The swordfish & crab with vegetables was also outstanding, my wife's surf and turf was as well. Establishment is relaxed with great views in the outdoor area. Staff was relaxed and courteous. To come here you must either be a resident of the Laguna Woods Villages or their guest. I ordered: 1. Our family friends who live in Laguna Woods, invited my wife and me for lunch at the golf course restaurant near their home. Dining outside, I found the conversation/ambience/environment to be great and the food holding its own. The entrance to the golf course/clubhouse is secured and requires a resident to call in or be with you. The restaurant has plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, so decided to eat outside even though it was a bit chilly and I had intentionally left my jacket at home. It's a diner type menu, with dishes that can be prepared using mass produced shelf-stable ingredients procured from food service companies. I've found that the best instances of this can often be found in the frozen section of Costco. It can be quite satisfying when prepared with care and served with grace; can be well valued...especially if one is there for the company and environment, not so much for the food. The four of ordered the following, and because the people at the table knew me very well, they offered food from their plates so I could sample. Fish and Chips ($15.99) - three pieces of cod, cole slaw, and battered fries. Everything had been well prepared, deep fried, and served hot. Grilled Salmon ($18.99) - a large salmon steak, expertly grilled. Vegetables were varied. Greek Gyro Plate ($15.99) - 6 slices of a beef/lamb, pita bread triangles, with battered fries, and tsazki sauce. It came with a mixed green salad. Service was great throughout, constantly checking on us and keeping our beverages refilled. It's very clear that the various parts of this establishment are well run. After a lot of rain, we have been on a bit of an extended sunshine streak since the new year. So eating outside on a covered terrace with overhead heaters, with great friends, ended up being a memorable experience. 19 Restaurant & Lounge is the clubhouse of Laguna Woods golf course, aka the 19th hole. It is open to Laguna Woods Village residents and invited guests. Guests can enter through Gate 12 on Moulton Pkwy. LWV has tightened its security measures for non-resident guests since Covid. The resident host is now required to notify the gatekeeper of invited guests before they are allowed to get through. Similar to other golf course clubhouses its Lunch menu is limited. My favorite is fish & chips. Its burger is pretty tasty too. But the real reason I enjoy coming to here is its view. I can usually get a table on the outdoor balcony to have a good view of the mountains and the course. A privilege of residents is to reserve its clubrooms for private parties. For our party today, 19 R&L provided a podium and an audio system for our use. Its server also came by during lunch to serve our meals. We had a pleasant time today read more

First time visiting this restaurant, and we were greeted as soon as we arrived. We sat on the porch which had a beautiful view overlooking the San Andres Mountains. I ordered the Rueben which was pretty good and the fries were excellent. Of course we had to have champagne and we were very pleased with the taste and price. Came here for a delicious breakfast and a gorgeous view! You can see the golf course as well as the mountains in the background. Probably one of the best views in the area. The outdoor covered seating area is really nice. We ordered the omelets, which were a generous size with hashbrowns and 2 pieces of toast. I also asked for jam and they brought out a whole selection. The food was tasty. Both the Denver and the Philly Steak omelets were good, although the Philly Steak was more like actual steak slices than philly steak. I almost wonder if the prices are subsidized, breakfast is just $12-13. The biggest downside is that the service is super slow! Plus, they open kinda late for breakfast, it should be earlier for seniors. read more

Went two weeks ago on a Sunday. Food and service were awful. No one refilled drinks the entire meal.. totally disinterested. My friend ordered Pot Roast which was tough and flavorless, garlic bread wasn't even toasted. I ordered fish and chips.. the fish was uncooked so I sent it back . The second order consisted of a burned piece and more uncooked fish. I gave up on that and ordered a burger instead , ( medium rare) the meat was RAW in several places. The manager told me " it's fine to eat" and other places serve uncooked meat! Maybe he thought it was Steak Tartare! Poor attitude, no effort to take responsibility . Last time for us! read more

My wife and I go to this restaurant regularly. The Peking duck and the steamed chicken 貴妃雞 are very good.

The service was awful. It took 15 minutes to get our order taken and are waitress who never came back to check on us one didn't remember whose order she's already took. The appetizers came out at the same time as the entrées making the entrée cold by the time you finish the appetizer that was supposed to be out 30 minutes before. The staff wants to try and make you feel wrong for their lack of service and overall just stupidness. TERRIBLE!!! read more

The Filet and just about any seafood is outstanding. Special props re: Pizza & Calamari as well as Burger and fries. Special note on The Fried Chicken Burger. Ambience when sitting on patio ... outstanding except for tables and seating chairs. The views exceptional. Service generally under staffed or at least subject to what the kitchen can put out as it is quite small for the great cook which they do well. The indoor dining area needs heavy maintenance and ceiling as well as carpet cleaning (maintenance is I presume not due to the responsibility of the restaurateur. Bar always active and absolute fun while drinks fairly price to really fine. Owner restaurateur is truly THE MAN WHO WANTS TO PLEASE which is paramount to a good time in the Bar. read more

We have been coming here for years. We have enjoyed breakfast, lunch and dinner here. There have been several special events we attended that were catered by 19 Restaurant. Five members of my family came here on a Sunday afternoon recently. We found a nice table on the patio facing the golf course. In addition to the ample outdoor seating, there is a small dining room. They encourage you to find a table and seat yourself. We received menus in short order. At the same time, the server took our drink order. We received our drinks and placed our orders. We had mushroom Swiss burger with fries, fish n chips, clubhouse burger with fries and a Santa Fe Salad. The restaurant was not too busy. It took a bit before our food came out. It was Ok since this gave us time to chat. Everybody enjoyed their meals. The burgers were nice and juicy with a nice charbroil flavor. French fries were fresh and crisp. The salad was very plentiful with a lot of chicken. The fish were enjoyable. Service today was great. In the past, we have had some occasions when it was a bit lackluster but today it was great. The food is always good and the prices are fair. 19 Restaurant and Lounge is located in Laguna Woods Village a 55+ community. I ordered the Laguna Scrambled which had ham,bacon, sausage ( patty & links) under scrambled eggs and cheese. First couple of bites were delicious then something very unpleasant and sour. Not sure at first I then tried the Link sausage by itself and immediately found the sour product. I removed it from the scramble and it tasted somewhat better. Just couldn't get pass the sour taste to be able to finish or enjoy me breakfast. When mentioning this to a male server he tells me all sausages are different, little does he know I have been in the restaurant all my life. While still on the patio my wife and I heard two other people mention that the Link Sausage was sour/bad. I then mentioned this to another male server on the patio and he replied "I don't know I haven't had my breakfast yet"... Seemed to be a little language barrier..I was taught and I teach to my staff...LISTEN, APOLOGIZE, FIX IT AND FOLLOW UP!! Our first time to dine for breakfast, dinner is usually very good! We walked 2 miles to enjoy our breakfast for a Beautiful Day overlooking the golf course. Came here after my in-laws hyped it up but apparently ordered the wrong thing (gyros... dont do it if you plan to eat here!) The food service is super slow and service was OK - not super friendly but also not mean as some of the other reviews read. But maybe we came on an off-day Everyone else's food looked ok (not great) but my "gyros" looked like strips of beef jerky for dogs. It was pretty dry and unflavorful... my kids didn't mind but I lost my appetite after the first few bites. Good thing I ordered the buffalo wing appetizer. I'm sure other dishes are better but the food seemed mediocre at best. On top of this they charged us a compulsory 20% (at least) gratuity.... not sure if this is standard for all customers or because we were a large party but even 20% is quite generous for auto-gratuity. Either way I was expecting a little more. If I had known I would have had us go to BJs around the corner. read more

2 years later, im still eating here. Only now all I order is breakfast. Its cheap, you get a fair amount of food and most importantly, ITS GOOD. I like the eggs, bacon, hash browns and toast plate. You get 2 eggs done however you want, 2 pieces of bacon, hash browns and 2 slices of toast with jam packets. They always do the eggs a perfect over easy. Not once in 2 years have they over cooked the eggs. I also like to order a side of their sausage patties. They are soooooo good. I was there for a friends 90th birthday party. Aside from there being so little salad dressing on the salads that about 30 people at our party complained, it seemed like pretty decent food. I'm not super sure about the service. The servers ran in and out of our rented event room and didn't return with items that we needed like extra napkins, and salad dressing, etc. Another frustrating thing was that they didn't pick up dirty plates on time. There were tons of plates from the appetizers as well as all the dinner plates that we would've liked to have picked up before we served the dessert. read more

We made a reservation. Upon arrival, there was no one to help us. Finally found someone who cleared a table for us. Then we waited 20-25 minutes for a server to come talk to us. She never came back to check on us after taking orders or after food was served. I was sitting at the bar and the owner was bartending. I asked for a gin martini and was specific about how I wanted it but forgot to mention "stirred not shaken" I saw him shaking and shaking it and of course it was way too watered down. So I told him that I forgot to mention to not shake it too much and that it was watered down. He got really defensive and in a condescending tone said: "I have made thousands of martinis and never had a complaint and what am I supposed to do with this drink now?" So I asked if he could just add a little more gin and he begrudgingly agreed and poured a little more gin. That's NOT good hospitality! read more

I've been here many times for lunch and the service and food was always good, with a beautiful view. So we decided to host my father's Life Celebration here, as they provide event space and catering. Communicating with the manager to check availability and create a menu was difficult, with many emails and texts ignored and me repeatedly reaching out. It was hard to get information about various logistics (i.e., using the TV monitors for a slideshow) with one word responses to detailed questions. It was frustrating. As for the event itself, we requested the patio but they put us in an area where our group was separated by a partial wall, so I was difficult for the minister to address everyone at once. But the worst part was the VERY LOUD compressed air machine directly below our patio that was constantly being used to fill golf cart tires, and the PA system announcing Tee- Times Throughout the service. There were so many very noisy interruptions that it essentially ruined the event and attendees had trouble hearing. Apart from that, the food and service the day of was good and the price per head was excellent, so I gave it two stars, but do not book this event space during the day unless you are inside. I wish they had warned me. If I'd known, I never would have chosen this venue. read more

I live in this area and went to "19" twice. Their food is good, if you get what you ordered. My problem in the outdoor seating area was with a waiter I recognized from my first time visit a few months earlier. My friend ordered water and when it arrived she asked for a slice of lemon. He took the waters, left and brought back 2 cups of hot water with a slice of lemon in each. When we exclaimed we just wanted a slice of lemon he argued with us that was what we ordered..... This same man several months ago when I first went must have been in charge and had a waiter take our drink orders. I speciifically asked for a Margarita up and very little ice. What came out was a slushy Margarita up and I gave it back and asked him to take the ice out. The boss came out, (same man as I mentioned above who brought us our hot water last night. He was rather rude and told me it was my fault about all the ice. He was rude and insisted he was right. If I ever go back, I'll make sure I don't get anywhere near his station! So I came to this restaurant and sat at the bar with a resident and another girlfriend. My friends ordered a beer, and when I ordered my iced tea, I asked for sugar also. I guess the bartender is the owner/manager, and his name is Tony..... anyway when he served me my iced tea, I did not see the sugar so I asked again for the sugar and he did not answer me so I waited and waited! I thought maybe he was deaf?! Anyway, after about five minutes, I grabbed my iced tea and right behind it on the other side of the bar was the sugar (he put the iced tea right in front of it so I could not see it)! He could've said the sugar is right behind your iced tea ma'am, but he totally ignored me! I thought he was very rude and besides that the resident that I was there with has had problems with him in the past! He was very chatty with all the men coming in from golf but did not even ask the three of us ladies if we needed anything else or another round! My friends wanted another round of beer, but we decided take our service elsewhere! The customer service is horrible. Service poor. I wanted more hot water for my tea. Asked several times; I never got it. Asked waitress to take a photo. She said she would return to take it but never did. The restaurant was NOT busy. Maybe 1/4 full. After a long wait we had a patron take the photo. Food was so-so. Not worth going again even if it were free. (I had breakfast) Ate outside over looking the golf course. We had our Thanksgiving lunch here with family. Food was not quite as good as I expected. Clam chowder was watery, New York Steak was large. I was not looking for a large steak I just wanted a good steak. It was delicious but I only ate a third of that steak. Service was not recommended. The helper was more helpful than our server. Another server came and took our order instead of our assigned server. The place is beautiful. No doubt about it. I don't know why the manager didn't include the dessert and raise the price to $35.
