Urban Plates was as delicious as it ever was. I used to be in Encinitas all the time before C. Urban Plates was my go to place to get a bite or take home for the family. Tonight, I was in town with my husband and I suggested we go. He'd never been. After our delicious meal, he is all for going back! Everything I've tried has been tasty. Today I had the beef and mushroom bowl over mashed potatoes. Pure comfort food! My husband had a lighter bowl with beets, avocado, and other fresh ingredients. He'll have that one again. Service was great also. Helpful and friendly. The tables are natural wood, fun chairs and benches. Comfortable. Get there early to get a seat at the outdoor fire table. For 6 pm on a Friday there ain't much of a crowd . Love that we can grab our seat right when we walk in the door and order off the app. That way we can take our time and already have our seat. We use our plate pass all the time, 20% off everything - SUCH a great deal! read more

This review is a bit late, but we enjoyed a fabulous Thanksgiving meal, even though by 3PM they had run out of turkey...:-( So I opted for beef... at the very moment the new turkeys were ready... we had just paid when we got the news. One of the chefs, Jahan, was so kind... he canceled my beef dish and replaced it with the turkey supper, which was super delicious. Not only did he go to all that trouble for 1 guest when there was a very long line, he brought our dishes out to us... Really prioritizing guests on an incredibly long day for the staff! When I told the waiter they gave me the wrong sandwich, their response was to tell me that I ordered exactly what they brought. They brought a chicken club, not what I ordered, I ordered the one with sun dried tomatoes. ALso I can't eat bacon on there. I tried to explain it wasn't right, realized I wasn't going to get anywhere with this person and told them its fine I'll eat it. BIG shout-out to Dalia and Dylan! I've been coming here regularly for dinner with a friend and our pooches, and we always enjoy the food, the ambience and especially the service. Dalia is a sweetheart. Personable, kind, always has a smile, always takes a moment to stop by our table to say hello to all of us, including our doggies, and ask how we're doing. Our doggies love her and so do we! The Chili Glazed Grilled Tofu Bowl is one of my favorite dishes. I especially enjoy it on a cold evening because the food is hot and we're sitting outdoors. One recent cold evening, I ordered it and it was delivered to the table lukewarm, at best. I asked if it could be heated up, and the server removed the plate to take care of it. I was waiting for quite a while and wondered why it would take so long to put the plate in a microwave and heat it up. My friend went inside to see what was happening, and Dylan came out and very kindly explained that they don't have a microwave, and they're making me a new meal. WOW. I didn't expect that! Incredibly disappointed with our experience this visit. I ordered a cheeseburger for lunch. Pretty basic. No special instructions. It was received on a cold, hard bun. And the fries were petrified. The tomato on it looked like it had been sliced 3 days ago. The lettuce wilted. One would think that a burger served not even hot couldn't possibly wilt lettuce. Unless of course, it sat on top of that bun hoping to warm it up. The rest of my party wasn't as discriminating. The 3 year old ate her chicken tender. And loved the apple juice. And the other person scorched her palate on Nashville style hot chicken. So taste isn't really a factor for them. I'm going back to my usual Moroccan chicken braise bowl. We were in the area shopping for our family trip and walked into this beautiful restaurant. First time here and it did not disappoint, definitely worth the money and the hospitality was amazing!! We ordered blackened Salmon and the chimichurri grass fed steak plate!! Salmon was delicious as well and the sides that accompanied it. Loved loved loved urban plates. They have a menu outside so as soon I walked in I knew what I wanted. I had AMAZING customer service. Literally everyone was so nice from the cashier to the cleaning lady. The food is PHENOMENAL. You can tell it's all fresh and organic. Highly recommend coming here. The only issue I noticed a lot like I am mean a lot of customers were rude to the employees. I kept apologizing to the employees personally I can't believe they have to deal with that so the vibe was kind of ruin it's ridiculous how some people can treat other human beings. Quality has gone downhill in a way I cannot describe. The food doesn't taste fresh at all. It was barely warm and tasted stale like it was reheated leftovers. I ordered the banana cream pie (which I used to love) and it also tasted like it had been sitting there a while. The crust was so crumbly and soggy and also fell apart immediately, and the pudding inside of it was such an odd consistency it didn't stick to the banana that was in it. And altogether with what I ordered my meal was $50, which if it had been good I would have been totally ok with that, but it was not. I will never come back here again. read more

The ingredients feel ultra fresh and healthy which is a huge plus. They were great about my dairy allergy which is very appreciated. The downside is the amount of food is not a lot. I ordered the Half Turkey Avocado Club Sandwich Boxed Combo which came out to $19.07 for delivery. You get a side salad, a piece of bread, and "half" a sandwich which looked like 1/3rd of a sandwich to me. Without the delivery fees/taxes the box was $14.50. Looking on the website the box would have been $12.50. Regardless of price, was still hungry afterwards which shouldn't be the case when ordering a boxed combo. Maybe call it a "Cali Diet Box"? I could have ordered something bigger and paid even more, but I have a feeling that even if I bought just a full sandwich I would have still been hungry due to the portions. That just might be the price you pay for an Urban Plates meal. I would rather just go to Board n Brew to pay less and get more food that still feels healthy. read more
