The Gel X and nail art technicians here are awesome, particularly JJ, Tran, and Teresa. There are others who do great work that give seen on others (I've named these techs just based on personal experience). If I could give zero stars, I would. I've never had such a distressing nail experience in my life. I walked in to get my Gel-X set redone, and though I was a walk-in, I didn't expect what happened next. I asked for short round nails, but instead, the technician tried to pry off my existing nails using a new Gel-X nail. I was shocked--this isn't how it's done. Most places soak them off gently, but his method left my nails damaged and in excruciating pain. He then cut only the tips, leaving my nails sharp and jagged before starting to test lengths for the new set. I tried to explain that my nails had grown long and would exceed the new lengths, but he cut them all so short that my fingertips were longer than my nails! I felt utterly defeated. When he showed me a nail length for approval, I pointed out that I wanted a round shape. That's when he casually mentioned they didn't have that option. I was so overwhelmed that I ended up settling for a basic manicure (which I didn't even get) just to escape. My nails look worse than ever, and it took everything in me not to cry in that chair. Awful customer service!!! You should be allowed to say if something needs to be fixed when getting a pedicure. No one is perfect! Once the issue was fixed I was satisfied and tipped accordingly. Then to not want to do my pedicure again is ridiculous. There are too many nail salons in the area for me to deal with this. Your staff should know how to handle critic on their work. Extremely rude. Gel was not fully cured when I got to the parking lot so I promptly returned to the salon and expressed my concerns. I was made to feel like I should just be grateful there was color on my nails but if I insist, they will redo the topcoat. The clear gel was redone and was still tacky after being dismissed and I had to go to a different salon the same day to have them redone. Urban Chic came highly recommended by a friend of a friend. I made an appointment with Peter after receiving a referral and visited today for a gel pedicure. I decided on the "modern chic" pedi with a 10 minute foot massage included & mask. Renee helped me with booking an appointment and when I arrived tonight a nice young lady at the desk greeted me, seated me and gave me a bucket of nail colors to choose from. I'm not too in love with the decor of this spa but the spa chairs are decent. The decor just seems busy and I don't like how crowded the chairs & stations seem. The facing spa chairs on the opposite side of the salon allow very little privacy with other patrons across. Peter was very nice, have a firm foot massage and did a really nice job painting my toes. I visit another nail spa in the area frequently and it's nice to have Urban as another option. read more

I hate writing bad reviews and I always let management know my issue so they can try and fix it before I do. I just got my toes done before I arrived to visit my sister in NC (I love it here). It's my first time meeting my new nephew and she's super busy with the baby and her homeschooled 7 year old. When she recommended we get our nails done, even though I just did, I jumped at the chance of having some girl time. They girls were annoyed when we asked for a wine and as soon as she started cutting my cuticles I could tell she was distracted. Ouch! I exclaimed when she pulled a chunk of my skin. It started bleeding immediately. I didn't say anything, I didn't want to interrupt my sisters blissful moment away. I thought, she'll offer me another drink, perhaps do a longer massage to wait for the bleeding to stop but no. She painted, blood seeped through, she scoffed and wiped it and started again at least three more times. By this time my sister knew there was something up and she covered my foot with a napkin and kept coating it on. By the time she had gotten the paint to stick over blood she sent me off with $5 off. I tried to get the paint to dry but an hour later the sting was so bad I easily wiped it off with my hand. All blood mixed with wet paint. A week later when the scab was kinda healed I called to see if I could get them redone by someone else. Management said for free? No. Made me describe the woman who clipped my skin. I said it wouldn't be a nice experience for either of us if I had to use the same lady. He said I shouldn't have waited a week. Anyway, I said I'd write this review but I wanted them to have the opportunity to fix it first so here it is. read more

I went here because my normal nail tech was out of town and I needed a fill so I went because someone recommended them but it was definitely over priced. I was charged $50 for a fill in, + $20 for French tip, $20 for xxl nails (they weren't xxl) and an additional $20 for designs which came up to $110. I will not be returning. If my fill-in was $110 I would hate to see what the price for a full set is. My nails are cute but definitely overpriced. read more

I know people like this place because they do designs on nails etc. What I know is the owner is on top of everything, going from customer to customer, asking questions, and making sure everyone is being serviced. They were able to squeeze me in, and I got my nails done. But it seemed rushed, and getting a nail tech to provide service was another problem. The lady who did my pedicure 3/4 into it told me I needed to pay because she had to go. I guess they are independent nail techs ?? This isn't my go to spot, but it worked when I needed it. After reading the reviews I went there with high expectations. I did acrylic French nails and paid about 70 dollars. Less than one week one of them broke and they didn't look good. I called them and they said they could fix it, so I went there and between them they were talking about how the person who did my nails didn't do a good job. I don't remember the name but it was a guy. So they fixed the broken nail and put gel on the other ones to make them look more decent. One week later they all look bad and two of them broke. I recently moved to the area and wanted to find a local nail salon. Urban chic was close and had a decent rating. Both My Mom and I went in for pedi's and mani's. My Mom's nails turned out decent my nails were ok but not cleaned up around the cuticles. Both of our pedicures were rushed and sloppy. When our techs finished with us, they left us at the pedicure seats and we didn't see them again until we got up to pay. They rushed to the register for tips. The older lady who did my pedi was hiding behind corners watching and waiting for a tip. We paid $240.00 dollars for subpar, sloppy and rushed work. We will not be be returning. read more

It's unfortunate to have to leave a poor updated review, but this experience was really disappointing. I asked for the Modern Chic pedicure because it claimed to come with a callus remover, 10 minute massage, heel cream, and scrub. It boasts that it's great for soothing heels. Well, the pedicure I received was nothing like the menu suggested. I spoke with who I think may have been the manager after and she defended the salon saying I did indeed receive what was stated on the menu, but when I asked "What about the heel cream? Also, it was supposed to be for calluses and heels, but the lady barely spent any time on that and they're still very rough" she said "You got the mud mask. If you're unhappy she can scrub more." It seems to me that they aren't entirely sure what they list on the menu and that's really a shame. I had a previous positive experience here, but this one was enough to not return. I understand defending your technician, but I even said to both women that the technician was nice and did a good job - I just didn't get what was listed on the menu and that's why I'm frustrated. Unfortunately, all they could do was tell me they were sorry I "felt" that way. To those who are considering anything more than a classic pedicure, I'd caution against this salon. read more

I came here to get a liquid gel manicure, only to be rushed, and for the nail tech Amanda to not apply the liquid gel right and skip steps so I could be in an out within 35 minutes. I had to go out of town for a family emergency, which I communicated with the UrbanChic rep over the phone as well as texted (as they requested). I could not reach out to them sooner as I was out of state for a few weeks for a Hospital family emergency. I came back and reached out to UrbanChic as soon as I can, in hopes to get help, and just to talk to a manager about this situation. I paid full price and I tipped Amanda over 20%, knowing in my heart, and gut that she rushed me, and she did not apply the liquid gel correctly. I have been getting my nails done for five years with liquid gel and rubber gel, and never have I walked out of a salon within 35 minutes, especially knowing that my nails are naturally long and require a good bit of time and care to even just clean my cuticles. I reached out to them instead of writing a review, because I did not want to publicly affect their business, but now I am choosing to share here because it has been a week, and they are choosing to just ignore my calls. Ignore my text messages and I still have not gotten a call back from a manager like I requested a week ago and they promised they would call back. I called again today to try to speak with the manager and the front desk representative was giving me attitude and not giving me an answer of when there is a manager there when I was asking at their managers convenience so I can call back or come into the store to resolve this problem. All I'm asking for is some customer service and a manager to be professional and deal with a customer, and instead they are choosing to just ignore ignore ignore and be unprofessional. I know the owner and or manager is there as I have seen him when I have come in and also have spoken to him on the phone prior to coming in to ask about services and make an appt. They had no problem putting a manager on the phone before when I was trying to make an appointment and schedule and come in so they can take my money, but now that I did go in, it's impossible to somehow get a call or text back from a manager. I understand people get busy, but I also see this as them choosing to be unprofessional, and the lack of concern. I called on a different number than my original one today because they have been ignoring my original one that I have been calling leaving messages and texting from and of course they answered the other phone number right away. Not okay!!! I am attaching pictures of my nails from day one as soon as I walked out of their salon and was in their parking lot as well as week three of my nails. Regardless of the time passing, the liquid gel application is not right!!! They charge more for this for a reason, and I pay more for it as a customer for a reason. Not to be rushed, or just applied like regular gel polish. I have consulted other nail techs and other salons to show them my nails, and they all have said that they can tell the liquid gel wasn't applied right. Not sure if it's their tactic to get customers in an out, but they should not be rushing customers just so they can get more money and also not apply products correctly or give the proper service. Again I was in and out of there within 35 minutes, Amanda used a drill to do my cuticles instead of taking the time to do it right and again applied the liquid gel just like regular gel polish, instead of the application that nail techs are properly taught. Do not go here! Not only do they advertise complementary wine and Wi-Fi on their Instagram, but they don't even offer that in person or water or anything. I walked in they told me to sit down at table 5 and Amanda quickly did my nails within 35 mins. They may seem quick to respond when you DM or call trying to set an appointment, but if you have concerns and want help, that's where you will see the ethical side of this business. I came here because two people recommended a certain nail tech. I waited 20 minutes after scheduled time. I explained that I previously went somewhere else and wanted to fix them. She told me they were done so thick but she ended up making them even thicker with a spotty paint job. I requested short nails, I don't think they are used to this - many client photos show long beautifully done nails and I ended up with clumpy looking ones. I had such a wonderful spa experience here! I'm from out of town and was staying with friends. We decided to get mani pedis on a rainy afternoon. We were immediately greeted upon walking in and they have a HUGE selection of SNS and gel polish option. We got the trendy chic urban pedicures. The foot massage felt amazing! They really do a good job and are very thorough. We were offered beverages (wine, water, beer) with our service and never felt rushed. I've had my manicure now for almost 2 weeks and not a single chip!
