I can't say enough great things about the team at Urbane Eatery in Agoura Hills. We accidentally placed our order through a food delivery app for the Urbane location in Northridge instead of Agoura Hills, which is where we always order from. When we arrived in Agoura Hills, the gentleman working the front immediately understood what had happened and jumped into action to help. He spent time trying to help us get a refund for the mistaken order, but unfortunately the app wouldn't allow it. Even though he couldn't fix the app's mistake, he genuinely did everything he could and made us feel like our situation mattered. We ended up placing a new order with him, and after we left, we realized our salad had protein added when it wasn't supposed to. We came back, explained the mix-up, and once again he handled it with kindness and professionalism. He immediately expedited our corrected order so we didn't have to wait behind everyone else, and even offered us complimentary drinks for the inconvenience. His positive attitude, patience, and genuine desire to help completely turned what could have been a frustrating experience into a great one. He's an absolute ray of sunshine, and customer service like this is hard to find. I wish I had caught his name because he deserves recognition, a raise, or a promotion for the way he takes care of customers. On top of that, the food is always excellent. Visiting from out of town and stumbled on this restaurant for a quick bite to eat. The customer seevice is top notch! Jerell, helped me order and was so kind. On top of that the food is fresh and tastes really good. My wife got the Salmon Bowl and I got the Mediterranean Bowl with chicken. I've been coming here for years, but today the service was not as expected. I waited several minutes to be even greeted (no line). No one was working the register. The staff member making focaccia right next to the register didn't acknowledge me, look up or get anyone to help. I had to holler to get attention and place my order. Served with balsamic vinaigrette dressing, but I always sub for the Peanut dressing and fresh baked focaccia bread. Everything was fresh and consistently good, just like I expect from Urbane. The prices are very low and reasonable. I got an Ahi Bowl which was supposed to be sushi grade fish and really wasnt, but the rest of the bowl was healthy and hearty. The food runner was super nice and brought me some extra dressing for my fish and to dip the bread in. And sitting outside is pleasant. I have been a loyal Urbane Cafe customer for many years. In fact, my last review a couple of years ago was a positive one, where I praised this restaurant, its staff, and the excellent level of customer service. That's why it's especially disappointing to write this review today. Unfortunately, this is not the first time I've experienced this kind of behavior from Priscilla. On multiple occasions, she has come across as unhelpful, unfriendly, and uninterested in assisting customers. Loyal customers should be treated with respect and appreciation, but that has not been my experience with her. During my recent visit, she made no effort to help or resolve my concerns, leaving me feeling like my loyalty and business were not valued. While the food continues to be great, customer service is just as important, and one employee's attitude can negatively affect the entire experience. I've always had positive interactions with the rest of the staff over the years, which is why this behavior stands out so much. I hope management takes this feedback seriously and addresses the issue so that every customer receives the friendly, welcoming, and helpful service that Urbane Cafe has been known for. read more

I came here with my husband for dinner on a Thursday night. I noticed a lot of people take it to go but we decided to eat there. They have a few tables inside and a few outside which was nice. The ordering process was easy and the employee who helped us was so nice and answered all my questions. I ended up getting the ahi tuna salad and my husband got the bbq tri-tip sandwich. My salad was good but could have used a bit more flavor. I would have loved a ponzu sauce for all over. The tuna was good but everything else was a little flavorless. My husband tri-tip sandwich was good but almost over sauced. I would try something else when I go back. I did enjoy the different fountain drinks they offered such as Shirley temple and root beer. Picked up a light dinner for two while in town for business. The turkey, cranberry, and brie sandwich had potential, but the cheese had a strong funk that made it hard to enjoy. The bbq tri tip was better balanced, but my dining partner commented that the beef was lower quality than expected. The side green salad was tasty and the free chocolate chip cookie was the star of the meal. The food here can be ok, but the staff is clueless. The last time I went, some guy was trying to talk his way in front of me because he just wanted a readymade item. Which is still kind of odd because it still takes a similar amount of time to place an order, regardless of what it is, but he seemed to assume I wasn't ready. Which is no problem if he had turned to me and asked me like a normal person. I probably would have said sure, I'm ready but go ahead anyway, but he kept fast talking over me to the staff that he didn't think I was ready to order. So when I could finally get a word in, I was really annoyed and told him don't talk over me when they ask me for my order and then proceeded to place my order like a normal person. I then tried to explain to him, look, if you had politely asked ME, I probably would have said yes, but he immediately shouted, and I mean shouted, at me to ignore him. Except of course he then came by where I was waiting and proudly announced he'd gotten what he wanted for free for the way he'd acted, like he's trying to goad me. Which is kind of a dumb betrayal to the restaurant because now I know the staff took his side. I just said good for you. It was a very weird experience that could have been handled by staff with common sense. No one on the staff defended me or tried to tame this guy, instead they gave him a freebie. They didn't give me anything or apologize or say anything for the way he treated me when I was trying to mind my own business. It was silly but very disrespectful, and I've learned to avoid places that can't exercise basic common sense or respect, especially if they are preparing your food. read more

Amazing food! My husband and I were in town for the night staying at the Homewood Suites next to Trader Joe's and was looking for a place to eat dinner. We came across this place since it was a walking distance from our hotel we figured we've give it a shot. Omg!! Absolutely delicious salad and sandwiches. I ordered the Pastrami Tri tip that came with a side salad and my husband ordered the Ahi salad. Every bite was delicious! The thin sliced focaccia bread is made fresh daily and you can tell by the taste. The ahi was prep perfectly! We are from Northern cal and wished we had one close to us. Saw the new Ahi Poke sandwich and had to check it out. Wow!! So delicious!! And having just the right amount of a wasabi bite to it. Served with an ample, inspired side salad with a few tangerine slices. Thought I might still be hungry (I was wrong - the sandwich was enough), so I ordered the tomato bisque as well. It was okay - not as creamy or flavorful as I expected. Probably would pass on that next time. I do love their soft drinks. A company called Batch Craft Soda, which I've not seen elsewhere. All with real cane sugar. Couldn't do it every day, but great for an occasional splurge. I had the Shirley Temple. Wonderfully sweet and pink. The other flavors currently are Doc Batch (assuming this is like Dr. Pepper) and Root Beer. Service was spectacular. Greeted on entry by the same gentleman who ended up taking and delivering my order: Jahrel S. (as per the receipt). The place was quiet - the last couple had just left. The reason for knocking off a star had nothing to do with the tomato bisque - it's solely because the place had trash all around - paper bits on the floor, straw wrapper, tables needed to be cleared and wiped. This was NOT due to Jahrel - he was the hardest working - also donning rubber gloves and making meals. There was a lady behind the counter who I only saw work with food. There was also a larger gentleman who came out of a back room after awhile and left. 15 minutes later two younger guys entered and went behind the counter just before 4pm - looking like a shift change. Zero attention from them to anything. I think Jahrel saw me take a couple pics because he came out with a mop and cleaned a floor section and removed a bowl from a table. Most of the mess was left alone, though. There wasn't a lot of activity; one takeout order was prepped. Jahrel was the only one who seemed to be attentive. I've dined here a number of times especially when I worked in Agoura Hills. Urbane Cafe is my favorite place for healthy eating during lunch and dinner hours. I usually order the salads, but they have a great selection of soups and sandwiches, the sandwiches made with freshly baked focaccia bread. The bread is served with all meals. Recently had the Keto Cobb Salad with chicken and it was superb served with a blue cheese dressing. Plenty of good seating here, service is timely and overall ambiance is welcoming. Who would've thought the best bbq tri-tip sandwich I've ever had is in a quiet suburban shopping mall in Aguora Hills. Every component of this sandwich is perfect on its own. The thick focaccia bread has a great fluffy texture. The apple slaw is slightly sweet and tangy and provides a crunchy contrast to the soft focaccia. The chipotle aioli is very flavorful but doesn't overpower the bbq sauce. And the meat is perfectly tender and juicy. You can actually taste the smokiness. I've also tried the Santa Maria bbq chicken salad (replaced chicken with tritip) which is equally wonderful. It's kinda like the tri tip sandwich broken apart.
