Super healthy choice to grab lunch at. It reminds me of Urth Cafe but cheaper. I usually get the pesto chicken at urth so I gave it a shot here too. Keep in mind urbane cafe uses the same bread for everything (for the side bread for soup and all of their sandwiches). Though their bread is delicious, for some items on the menu, it doesn't quite work. Take the Bahn Mi for example. Bahn Mi has to be eaten with a baguette- the texture and flavor of the bread is important! However, when I was craving the flavor of Bahn Mi and ordered one at Urbane Cafe, it unfortunately didn't taste right. My recommendation is to order items on the menu that DO NOT normally pair with specific breads. Other than that, salad, soup, and ingredients are great. Overall result: I'll def be ordering at Urbane again- just not the Bahn Mi :) read more

My sister and I ordered a chicken pesto sandwich with salad and waited outside for the order. Our food didn't take too long to come out wrapped in a bag. I am a huge fan of Urbane Cafe. I had first heard about the chain when I was working out in the Ventura area. They have expanded and opened up more locations in the past couple of years and it's always a great place to grab a salad or sandwich. I was thrilled when they open up their Pasadena location. This was my first visit to this Pasadena location. Now during covid, I was able to order my food online and it was a very easy process are able to select the time that you want to go pick up and it was very seamless. I was able to find lots of parking in the lot in the back. The restaurant itself is pretty big, I can see how normally it would be packed with all the seating they have available. I walked in from the back and towards the front of the store they had a big metal rack with different layers and my food was there ready to go. Usually I get the Urbane Cobb salad with the cilantro vinaigrette. Usually I would have them sub tri tip instead of chicken but I haven't figured out how to do that on the app. I'm also a big fan of their sandwiches. I usually get one of the tri tip sandwiches and their side salad and bread that it comes with is very tasty. The food there is fantastic. Their cookies are really good too, the lemon cookie is an underrated one that I wouldn't have normally have picked (I thought it was a white chocolate macadamia) but now it's my go to choice. This has been the go to spot for going to a work lunch with the gf for like 3 weeks in a row. I feel like that's saying something, because it's pretty rare I'm so impressed with a salad I want to have it again and again. I've had both Abbot's Southwest Salad & the Santa Maria BBQ Chicken Salad & both are quite good. If I had a choice right now of either I would get the Santa Maria BBQ Chicken. It has more flavor overall, because of the bqq sauce drizzle combined with the dressing & because I really like goat cheese. The gf get's The Ahi and she has always been pleased with it, and loves the dressing. One one trip she got that bella portabello which had good flavor, but maybe a little greasy. The salads have always been fresh & for the price the portion is really good. I often just save the leftovers & eat the rest for dinner. I think one big win here is they are located on Lake in Pasadena which is near everything & they still maintain a fair price for what they are serving. Also, for all the times we've been there, the service has always been great & the inside (including restrooms) have been clean. Another plus is the dressings do seem to be made in house & taste really good. There is a good size parking lot in the back which you should always be able to find a spot in. If you luck out you'll find a spot immediately in back of the restaurant. Pro tip: Save the bread with your leftovers. Cube it up, add a little oil, salt, garlic powder & pepper and throw it the air fryer. Really good fresh croutons. I'd definitely return here & have been doing just that. read more

Was hoping for better with the 4.5 star reviews, I normally enjoy Cava and Mendocino next door, decided to try out Urbane Cafe. I had the Salmon bowl, asked for light dressing and the dressing was still bit much, if I ever come back I would ask to put on the side. I ordered the Mediterranean Bowl with added chicken for my friend, the problem here is the cashier didn't add the chicken to the order. After we received the food, we asked her about the missing chicken and looked at the receipt, she didn't put it in order and I had to go up to the cashier to ring up for the add on chicken again. My friend and I were sure that we asked for the added meat on top of the bowl, if I made a mistake as a cashier I wouldn't ask the customer to pay for it. Also the cashier wasn't too helpful when I was asking for recommendations, she wasn't able to tell me the different between each item, can doesn't seem to know whats popular in the store. Sub par overall experience with the cashier, but the food bowl itself was good. Most likely won't be coming back due to other options in the area. read more

First off...the focaccia bread here...it's simply amazing! Dense warm and soft... definitely makes the eating experience enjoyable...I wanted more! I ordered the Santa Maria BBQ chicken salad, and it came with a good portion of chicken to go with the rest of the salad. The ingredients were fresh and typical of a Southwestern salad, but nothing mind blowing here. The space itself feels upscale and relaxing, with plenty of places to sit comfortably. My order took less than 10 min to be prepared after ordering, and it was pretty busy so I was impressed! Honestly at $10, you could walk about a quarter mile further south on lake and get 2 southwestern salads(they come w/chicken) at trader joes and still save $2. But if you're feeling a little fancier or don't want to walk all the way down lake to Trader Joe's, Urbane seems like a pretty good spot to have lunch...and did I mention the focaccia bread is on point?! read more

It was a rare day I felt like eating vegetarian for lunch so I opted for it. While the description sounded appealing on the menu, the sandwich itself was quite bland and lacking in flavor. I came here on a Friday night at about 5:35pm and was immediately greeeted upon entering. You could park on the street, which is $1 per hour before 6pm, free afterwards, or go park behind the building for free. The accessibility to the restaurant, either way, is really easy and they have doors in front and rear of the restaurant as well. My hands were dirty from leaving work in a haste, so I went to use the restroom, and it was very clean. My cashier, Audrey, was really nice and helped me to place my order of the chimichurri steak sandwich with no cheese. She asked if I needed anything else, who could resist the delicious chocolate chip cookie?!!! So yes, I ordered it! The sandwich was awesome, the cookie was awesome, and the drinks are awesome as well. Simply cannot go wrong with any of them! I was told, by a worker refilling the drinks, that the watermelon mint as well as the mango drink was made with fresh and real fruits. The beef on the sandwich was super soft and delicious! Yay Urbane Cafe made its way to Pasadena! It is located near chipotle and panda express, so there is parking behind all the restaurants alongside Lake Ave. My previous experience with Urbane Cafe was a couple months ago at the Valencia location. i personally prefer to Valencia location because I thought the sandwiches overall, tasted better. I know this location is newer, so maybe they'll work out the kinks, but it will not stop me from coming back. Here are my other thoughts: Food: I ordered the UC Banh Mi sandwich. The chicken was cooked properly and the pickled radish mix with the aioli provided the sandwich flavor. I didn't care for the excess cilantro, so i took some of it out. Urbane is unique because their sandwiches are made with focaccia bread. The bread is really soft and yummy! All sandwiches come with a house salad. The salad is a spring mix with cabbage and some feta cheese sprinkled on top. Also, the white chocolate cranberry cookie is to die for! It is one of my favorite cookies all time. Check into Yelp and you can get a free one :) There are soups, salads, and you can even grab a bag of chips with your sandwich. Service: Urbane Cafe is a order first and pick up your food when your tracker vibrates style restaurant. The workers walk around to buss your dirty dishes and provide service, which is a plus. Ambiance: I really like how this location is decorated. The large windows provide enough sunlight on a hot day, yet the decor makes you feel comfortable. I thought the music level was a little too high. Urbane Cafe is an inviting restaurant overall. I would recommend Urbane Cafe to anyone who enjoys sandwiches. I would recommend dining at Urbane Cafe for lunch because it is a quick meal and is not very filling, a great feeling if you have to go back to work. 05/15/2018 There seems to be a growing number of places to eat on Lake Ave. what choices do you have next door to Panda + Tea and Which Wich, there's that tall skinny banner flying outside for Urbane. Is that called Fast Casual Dining when you order at the counter and pick-up your order when that buzzer goes off? I ordered the BBQ Tri-Tip sandwich for $10.50 which comes with a side salad. When that buzzer goes off, I pick up the order at the pick-up window. It's a fresh salad topped with a couple of mandarin oranges. Tasty salad dressing but I would prefer more. One bite into this sandwich has a nice chewy spongy to this bread baked in-house. The Tri-Tip has a nice cover of BBQ sauce and the crunch of this apple-slaw. It tastes really fresh but I think I can eat two or three of these sandwiches. What that means, I definitely have room for dessert. They bake the cookies here so with samples of cranberry or chocolate chip. It's spacious inside and a nice patio near the street. With a soda fountain machine for drinks, there are three types of lemonade next to the iced tea dispenser to wash everything down. Great lunch spot if you're ever in the area. read more

I really did enjoy the sandwiches because the bread and the meat was extremely tender and soft. The vegetables were also fresh as well so that made it an enjoyable experience. The leaves are dried and there isn't too much sauce, so the sandwich wasn't soggy, which is a super good thing. So good! Came in with the kids and there were healthy tasty options for everyone. A little on the expensive side for kids though. They have a kids meal option but no drink is included. And the additional drink is $1.65, on top of the $4.75 meal. I had the ahi salad and it was very good. The dressing was also very good. Their iced tea is excellent. The pesto chicken was very good, too. The bad was the mediterranean bowl. I ordered it to-go for my hubby and he said it was awful.
