I was so excited to find this place since I often have a hankering for a delicious, healthy meal and jump on postMates to see what's available for delivery. I ordered the Cafe salad and it was so fresh and everything tasted so good together. Perfect amount of goat cheese, dusting of nuts and perfect amount of chicken. We order sandwiches on a fairly regular basis since it's close to where I work. Unfortunately, something has happened to the quality of food. I've had 2 bad experiences this past week. My co-worker and I usually order 2 different sandwiches and share. Tuesday, we ordered the BBQ Tri Tip and the Club sandwich. The Tri Tip was good as usual, but the Club sandwich had an off smell. We noticed the smell as soon as we removed the lid. My co-worker said it had an off taste as well. I took one bite and threw the rest of the sandwich away. It didn't taste right. Today I ordered the UC Bahn Mi and the BBQ Tri Tip. The UC Bahn Mi was good, but the Tri Tip was BAD! Hubby immediately said the meat tasted old. He was hungry and ate the sandwich, but got sick afterwards. The first bite I took I thought was okay...the second bite was bad. Again, I didn't bother with the rest of the sandwich and threw it away. I tried to call to let management know that the meat was bad and they should not be serving it. I could never get past the automated system to speak to a live person. After 3 attempts...I gave up. Definitely will not be going back. When the world seems like it is going to end, or when I have had a particularly rough day at work, on a particularly hot day, I come to Urbane Cafe to drown my sorrows with one of their cold, refreshing, lemonades, and a well-balanced, healthy salad. This is one of the few places on South Lake Ave that are letting customers sit outside to enjoy their meal. Staff have been so good at cleaning after each customer. I feel safe dining out here. I have tried a handful of salads. The Cafe salad, the Ahi salad, the Cilantro Chicken salad, and their current seasonal salad. My favorite is between the Cilantro Chicken salad and their current seasonal salad. Loved the combination of cilantro dressing, corn, and cheese. The current seasonal salad has blueberries and a blueberry vinagarrette dressing. You might think it sounds gross or too sweet, but really isnt. It is refreshing. If you order The Cafe salad, try adding the avocado on top of the bread that is included with the salad. So tasty (better than any over priced avocado toast). Great portions, I can easily make it into two meals or on those ravenous days, one meal. I always think that I am not going to want to eat the bread, but I end up eating it. Why? Bc it is light and almost refreshing? It has to do with the taste. It leaves me feeling full but not bloated. I hate eating bread that leaves me feeling like I gained 5lbs. We stopped in to grab lunch to go & the restaurant was set up for ease of pick up and they'd put in the right measures for social distancing: blocked off tables, no dine in & required masks. We got: the Cobb salad, cilantro chicken salad & bang mi sandwich. They were easy to swap out ingredients & quick to prepare. Enjoyed the flavors and combination of ingredients. Urbane cafe is my go to when we are in Pasadena looking for a quick lunch. I wasn't expecting to love it so much, but it never fails to disappoint. I always get the southwest and the cilantro torts sandwiches. They're flavorful and delicious, and the focaccia is delicious. Their bowls are great too, my husband just got their salmon bowl and loved it, we also enjoyed the ahi bowl (not currently on the menu). The service is great and seating is plenty. I had a memorable sandwich experience here back when covid was at its peak and told myself I'd return so when the bf and I were looking for a quick bite on Lake Ave, this place immediately came to mind. Because he was undecided between the pesto and sundried tomato vs. the steak BLT (I was also eyeing this one), we decided to order both and share the other half. My steak BLT was DELICIOUS and came with a little salad that had just the perfect amount of vinaigrette. Their bread is made fresh in a stone fire grill and really adds to the whole sandwich. Although it didn't look like a huge sandwich, half the sandwich already filled me up and I didn't get to try the pesto one. The bf said it was good, although a bit greasy. We ordered a fountain drink and got to choose from a variety of sodas and lemonades. We taste tested the lemonades, which were all a bit tart and sour. Per the bf's suggestion, I filled my cup with 60% guava lemonade, 20% mango lemonade, and 20% water. It actually made for a really refreshing drink, without being overly sweet nor tart. Quality and portions have plummeted. We used to order once a week from here and LOVED it. Yesterday, our order was missing key ingredients. Turkey sandwich was missing the cranberry (the best part of the sandwich!), side salad was missing the dressing, and the ahi salad came in a new (and MUCH smaller container) and was a much smaller portion. Very disappointed and unfortunately one of our favorite and regular rotation places will now be completely out of our routine. read more

Absolutely yummy. Every bite was a treasure. -: miso salmon salad: tasted good but not too memorable. The salmon was a great touch but not enough of it was found from the plate. Dressing was on the side and it was flavourful. Too many cabbage chunks though.. wish it had arugula and more greens (like spinach) in it. Oh boy. We ordered tomato feta soup and it was a thick fluid, somewhat sour and chunky. Not much of a soup. The only place that has a decent soup is CA Pizza Kitchen. The cilantro salad was very basic. There was very little beans snd corn. But lots of green leaf. Overall, I will never order their "best seller' anymore. Fiesta Bowl was mainly rice . It is not something that you would be looking forward to have for lunch. It was colorful, the red pepper looked good. Their dressings are unconditional and not good. They give you a green bulb of something as dressing. The best part of the meal was the chocolate chip cookie. I don't think I want to go back there and order lunch just to have a cookie. I gave them 3 stars because the portion was decent and I am not much of a meat eater. Will I go back? Absolutely it. I can pay a little more abd get a great salad from Cheese Cake Factory. read more

Was pretty excited to try this place! Thought it was still fairly new but turns out they just celebrated their one year, so congrats team pasadena! Stopped by around noon with my siblings and there was only one other customer inside. The place is pretty big and the decor is lovely. There are restrooms in the back as well as the drink station and utensils. You order when you walk in, they give you a buzzer and you sit down and wait until your buzzer lights up. Then you walk and collect your food and place the buzzer in it's designated area. I ordered the Miso Salmon Salad as it was a NEW item and I didn't see it on the menu yet so decided to try it out. I added avocado which was an additional 1.25$. The salad itself was alright. I wish they tossed the dressing inside for you. The salmon was half dry, half juicy so it was just alright, not my favorite salad piece. It does come with bread which is fairly tasty for just bread itself. My brother ordered the Tri-Tip Sandwich which he said was pretty good. It comes with a salad on the side. My sister got the Cilantro Chicken Salad which comes with Cilantro Lime Vinaigrette and she wasn't a big fan. Overall, didn't really enjoy my meal here but i'm glad I got to try it out. Customer Service is definitely on par, so hats off to you guys! Love the decor, parking is ample as there are a couple parking structures. We parked in the Macy's structure and just walked across which makes it free parking :D. Otherwise parking in Pasadena sucks + who wants to pay for parking when their's free parking? read more
