Truly an excellent experience for my 87 years young parents who are picky! I made reservations on Mother's Day. I was worried because this was a new to us restaurant and as I stated my parents are REALLY picky. They both loved their meal and even more importantly the service was amazing. EVERY staff member was courteous and observant and VERY helpful. It first started as I was sitting outside waiting for our table. One of the staff members came from inside the restaurant and set up an umbrella to protect my mother and I from the sun which was blaring down. We didn't ask him to do this. He observed us, and did it on his own accord. Next our server was SO accommodating and courteous. He took our orders patiently and gave us all of our options. Our food came out quickly and efficiently and was so delicious. One of the servers who brought us our drinks noticed that my dad was wearing a shirt from Zion National park which sparked a lovely conversation. He showed me his pictures from his trip and I showed him mine from the trip I had just taken. It was just a simple but pleasant interaction. Before we left, my dad asked if we could come back soon. The service was great , Armando A was our server and he was excellent. We sat outside on a beautiful sunny Cali day. It was so nice out . Everyone enjoyed their food . I came to GSR with two colleagues and we had a wonderful time. We made a reservation in advance for lunchtime and were quickly seated upon arrival. The salads here are huge! We each got a salad and def couldn't finish them. I got the Cornucopia without blue cheese and thought it was excellent. However, my friend got the Dianne and I have to admit that was much tastier! Again, the salad portions are huge so be prepared to take some home or, better yet, share it with a friend. The zucchini bread is also very good. It's dense but moist. It comes w butter but I think it's great on its own without butter. I hope to come back again to try something else! My friends love the breakfast menu so maybe I'll try that next time. This was my second time visiting Green St. In six years. Both times we sat outside on busy Shoppers Ln. with mature planter box plants sheltering us from the street. While the Diane Salad was pretty much lettuce, almonds, sesame seeds, chicken, and fried/puffed rice noodles, it was all brought together with their Diane Salad, salad dressing. $22.50 for a large, which in 3 days you will never be able to finish so don't order that huge amount. The food was pretty good and the coffee was decent. There isn't a lot of variety here with most breakfast having the same things but the lunch and dinner menu had more to offer. Each breakfast comes with a zucchini bread instead of traditional toast but don't fret you can substitute it for toast if you wish. I was so excited to return to Green Street after four years had passed since my last Pasadena trip. Unfortunately the quality of the Kale Diane, a version of their signature salad, has dropped significantly. Not only was it woefully underdressed, but the solid ratio of greens to rice noodles was warped in favor of the latter. It's not super obvious in the photo but below the top layer there is only an abundance of the noodles with hardly any kale to speak of. Additionally, the rough stems of the kale are left in, adding to to the over-crunchiness of the dish. It is an immense amount of food that felt like a chore to get through. I am grateful they're willing to omit the chicken to make it vegetarian but they brought out a version with chicken at first and had to make me a new one after I pointed out the mistake. With a little extra dressing, it's still solid, but not a destination if you're only in the area for a day. I strongly recommend they review the ratios and make it a salad with noodles instead of noodles with a kale garnish. read more

This is the second time I've been a Green Street (because friends wanted to go there). I ordered the salmon dinner each time. I carefully explained to the servers that I was on a low sodium diet and asked them to use as little salt as possible, which was one reason I ordered the salmon--it could be ordered plain, without seasoning. My overall summary: The food was just "okay." The second time, the salmon was overcooked and somewhat dry. Despite asking for low sodium, I got vegetables (broccolini the first time and mixed vegetables the second) that were highly seasoned and, to my taste, hard and undercooked. The rice pilaf accompaniment was average, and over-salted. On my the most recent visit, my salmon dinner was around $35, which was expensive for the quality of the food that was served. Its signature entree is their Dianne Salad. Watch out for the very high-calorie dressing, though. The zucchini bread, which comes with the salad, is heavenly. Breakfast in Pasadena, California... I found out about Green Street Restaurant from my friend, Regis K. He makes food look so delicious from his photos! I just had to have that famous Dianne Salad! Armando was the sole worker. He let me choose my seat in the bright, elegant environment; he took my order; and brought my meal, and later, my bill to me. He paid attention to every customer that morning! When i walked in, I actually told Armando that I wanted a Dianne Salad. He asked me if I wanted a full order or a half. I got a half and wasn't able to finish it - maybe because it came with three complimentary slices of fantastic zucchini bread! The Dianne Salad is light and refreshing. It has high quality sliced chicken, toasted slivered almonds, sesame seeds, bean thread noodles, and a sweet-tangy dressing. When the burger was returned more cooked, despite asking for no mayo, it came back with mayo again. He ended up not eating the burger and just had some of his wife's salad. Service was okay, but there were too many mistakes. The restroom was also dirty. I informed a staff member, but it was not properly cleaned. I can't wait to return with family and friends! I recently reserved a lunch for a large group and I was happy that we were all seated together just as I had requested. The corner section with multiple tables worked out perfectly. Despite the restaurant being busy during the midweek lunch rush, our server was excellent and made sure we were well taken care of. To start we were served some of their delicious zucchini, bread, which was an absolute hit! It's pre-packaged and available for purchase as you leave - I regret not grabbing a loaf to take home. The menu offers a variety of great options and it wasn't overwhelming. Everyone in my party enjoyed their meal even with range of dietary preferences and needs. The portion here are ginormous- couple of us could've easily shared an entrée. I ordered the Chipotle Lime bowl, and they were very generous with it all. I went to Green Street this morning and was seated promptly. Then I waited and waited and waited although servers addressed the people in front of me to my right and to my left no one ever came to take my order at that point I got up and left I'm a member of Green Street's loyalty program. I've been going there for many years. This was enormously frustrating. I live in Eagle rock but came from Montrose just to go to Green Street, I'm not sure if I will return to eat in again, which makes me sad because I rarely give myself the treat of eating at the restaurant. I am responsible for many people in my life right now so I am always running. I tend to pick food up and take it home. I hope that the manager acknowledges and addresses this. The two people at the front desk we're okay when I said I was upset. They said they were sorry and one suggested maybe servers were between transitions but it wasn't their fault. I'm just very disappointed. I purchased zucchini bread for my neighbors then left, feeling somewhat humiliated. read more

Everything was chopped super fine so you get a little bit of everything in each bite, crispy strips, tender chicken, fresh greens. The shrimp tacos were solid too, the shrimp had good flavor and the tortillas were soft, but there was definitely a LOT of cabbage piled on top. This place has been around a while, a little difficult to find but once you do you walk into old Pasadena vibes a fresh new decor. Everyone goes for the Diane salad and if you can drink, the bar is wide open. They have clean restrooms and friendly staff . Parking is next-door there is a fee and they do not validate. They have an amazing breakfast that still is reasonably priced . Their dinners are a bit on the high end, but you pay for what you get. I popped in for a salad and zucchini bread and a dressing to take home. It was way more than I thought I could pay, but the flavors are divine and I peed it. Honestly, I can make this salad at home but their dressing is what makes it great! It's been a long time since we been back here. I grew up in Pasadena and have great memories of coming to this restaurant. I'm so glad that it has survived. I was happy to hear that they were celebrating their 45 year anniversary. The food and service is amazing. The Diane salad is an iconic salad and people come to get it for many occasions. The restaurant is located behind some businesses on Lake Street. There's a parking garage, no parking validation from the restaurant. There's also street parking if you can find it. The inside is very nice and they have outside seating too. They have a full bar and offer a Build your own Gin tonic option and Bourbon flights. It's a nice date night place and also has room for big groups too. It can get very busy around lunchtime and weekends.
