    Crunchy Peanut Salad
    Tony Y.

why go to panera, if there's an urbane cafe? unless you're looking for specific pastries, i get it, but the salads and sandwiches here are top tier. I'm literally in love with their freshly baked focaccia and bell pepper hummus. If you love salads, i can't recommend this enough. and if salads aren't your thing, you can't go wrong with their sandwiches.

This was a quick and easy place for lunch. When I arrived on a Tuesday at 1pm, there was no wait and plenty of tables. Service was friendly. There's 90 minutes free parking behind the restaurant in the large lot that's shared with other businesses. I got "The Cafe" salad with chicken, avocado, goat cheese, pears, pecans, balsamic vinaigrette on the side and a piece of focaccia bread. It was a large salad and they did not skimp on the ingredients. Everything including the bread was good and fresh.

The food always tastes so fresh and healthy. A bit pricey, but once in a while is ok for this. Lots of tables and seating both inside and outside. You order at the kiosk and grab a table number. The server brings your food, and once you're done, clean up after yourself! Parking is a big lot behind shared with several businesses.

Urbane Cafe is still one of my favorite spots for a healthy and tasty meal. Lately I've been ordering the Crunchy Peanut Salad. It comes with marinated cilantro chicken, mixed greens, coleslaw mix, cucumbers, pickled carrots, edamame, mandarin oranges, crispy onions, and honey roasted peanuts (the best part lol). The peanut dressing is really good too. The salad portions are pretty large. The customer service is always great. They recently added 2 kiosks to order from. The restaurant is clean and well kept.

Wow food is so delicious! We tried the crunchy peanut salad and the antioxidant salad. Both are very tasty and full of flavors and textures. Best salads. The focaccia bread on the side is also very good. Place is clean and great customer service. Lots of parking in the back!

Ordered doordash and my order came pretty fast in less than an hour! Pricing was reasonable and most items were $15+. There was a good variety of sandwiches, bowls, salads, and soups The Chimichurri Steak Sandwich ($16.85) was ok. The steak didn't taste like steak and just seemed like roast beef. I was expecting the quality of the steak and the portion of the sandwich to be bigger since it was quite pricey. The Chimichurri was ok and a little bland. The bread tasted pretty fresh and soft so that was pretty good! Overall, the sandwich was not too impressive so it was 6/10 The sandwich comes with a side of salad but I paid extra $5.40 for a side of tomato bisque soup instead. The soup was very creamy and delicious! It tasted very fresh and flavorful without being too salty. This was 8/10 The Dragonfruit Agua Fresca ($3.95) was ok and not too sweet. It was refreshing but it tasted artificial and wasn't made with real dragonfruit so this was 6/10 The chocolate chip cookie ($3.75) was amazing! It was so soft and fresh! Definitely my favorite item in the meal! Definitely recommend and would get again! This was 10/10 Overall, I wasn't too impressed with the sandwich so I most likely won't recommend or return unless I'm craving their cookies! Those are definitely a must get!

Good service, quality great! Food was good but there's a lot of cheese if you don't like cheese this is not the place for you. Inside was nice but they have a big section where they're just packing to go orders which is kind of off putting because you have to walk past that to get to the fountain drinks. Overall would come again!

If you guys are in bed off a quick but delicious bite- this is your spot. Service was quick and friendly. Brought our food out in 10 minutes. Ambiance: quiet and peaceful. I'll be stopping by here if I am ever stunning by!

Tried out Urbane Cafe for lunch since I wanted something healthy. I ordered the Ahi Tuna salad and my boss ordered the salmon salad. Urbane Cafe was SUPER generous with the ahi tuna slices in my salad. This is a new spot for me to go to since everything is so healthy + fresh here. The portions sizes LOOK small but actually fill you up quickly. I'll be back soon :-)

I ordered the pastrami tri-tip, and it was really fancy overall. It came with a salad and sauce that I enjoyed. The sandwich itself was pretty tasty, and I was full by the end. There was a little bit I was saving, but an employee took it away...it was an awkward experience. It reminded of a time when Chick-fil-A was closing, and an employee took away a box that still had food in it. Anyway, the interior is pretty, and the layout and parking is decent. The food itself is a little hefty, but it offers a healthy balance of greens. I'm glad I gave it a chance over Chipotle or Panda Express!

Greeted right as we walked in . Daniel at the front was super kind and patient because I wasn't sure what I was getting... the ambiance is nice and natural! Calm soothing. Clean. The food was good. I had a grilled grass fed steak plate. Steak was on the dry side even though we ordered medium.. bread with stead was delish! It had a smoke taste to it. The mashed potatoes and Mac and cheese were absolutely amazing. It tasted really really good and clean. We also had a turkey avocado sandwich , which was really really good. Bread was soft and very flavorful. We got a cookie- it's huge!!! And soft and yummy We had some iced tea to go with it and it was great.. overall good experience good food... with the exception of the steak.

The panini was served with a side salad that was equally fresh and tasty, making for a well rounded meal. Overall, a delicious and enjoyable dining experience, and I would definitely order it again.

Not only has the price increased by 20% but the drink has also gotten smaller. The flavor is still consistent from what it used to be but $10.50 for this drink is insane. I'd rather just get a real matcha drink from a legit coffee/matcha spot.

I've been wanting to try Tendon Tempura Carlos Jr. for a while since their original location is in Torrance. I'm really glad they opened a Pasadena location because we're lucky to have one here in the 626 now. Parking was easy since there are spots right in front of the restaurant, but they are metered and cost $2 per hour. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by the staff. Since the weather was nice, we decided to sit out on the patio, which was cool and comfortable. To start, we ordered the fried tempura mozzarella sticks ($5.99), onion kakiage ($2.99), and edamame corn kakiage ($5.99). Everything was delicious, but the mozzarella sticks were the clear favorite. They were fried perfectly with an amazing cheese pull and plenty of cheesy flavor. We decided to share all of our entrees family style. For my son, we ordered the plain hot udon, which was simple and perfect for him. For the rest of us, we ordered the Premium Tempura Bowl ($32.97) and added ikura ($4.98), the cold soba with dipping sauce and tempura ($19.99), and Carlos's Jewel Box ($31.99), which came with chopped salmon, toro, yellowtail, and popcorn shrimp over rice. We also added extra toro for $8. On top of that, we ordered a side of five slices of chu-toro for $15.49, which honestly felt like a great deal. The Premium Tempura Bowl was definitely the star of the meal. Every piece of tempura was light, crispy, and fried perfectly without feeling greasy. The fried tempura egg was absolutely chef's kiss, especially once the yolk mixed into the rice. The tempura dipping sauce was also excellent and brought everything together. The Carlos's Jewel Box was another standout. The fish tasted fresh, and the rice with their house sauce paired perfectly with everything. The added toro made it even better. The cold soba was well prepared, but it just wasn't our cup of tea. That's more of a personal preference than anything because the quality was still there. The restaurant has a modern look while still feeling like a cozy mom-and-pop shop. I really liked the decor and the welcoming atmosphere. Since we were the only table sitting outside, I can't really comment on the noise level inside, but the patio was peaceful and relaxing. The service was great. The staff brought out a booster seat for my son and even helped secure it to the patio chair. They also brought us all the condiments, including ginger and pickled vegetables, without us having to ask, which I appreciated. Overall, I would definitely come back. The tempura was some of the best I've had in the 626, and the rice bowls were just as impressive. If you're visiting for the first time, I highly recommend ordering one of the tempura bowls. You really can't go wrong. It's great to see a restaurant that started in Torrance expand to Pasadena because it's a welcome addition to the 626 dining scene.

There was also no crunch to it. I remember the Torrance location tempura had a very nice crunch, batter was light and airy, and it stuck to the food. The sauce is the same, as they put it in the rice instead of you dipping it into a sauce. I also got cold soba on the side since they can't substitute the rice for soba. Soba wasn't anything special. The noodles at the Torrance location is better I promise! The miso soup was okay, didn't really enjoy it that much. It's not your typical miso soup. It has mushrooms in it. The mushroom flavor was too strong for me. Service was meh since we sat down first, but they took the order from our neighbors before us. Their food came out first too. Most likely won't come back to this location again. Not sure if they just had an off day when I went, but I had a disappointing experience.

It was packed with flavor even without the chipotle vinaigrette (relieved I got it on the side because I wasn't s big fan). The avocado was very fresh and plentiful. I added chicken for extra $4.74 and it was very tender! Overall, I enjoyed the salad but a bit pricey so it was a good one time experience! The Chicken Pesto Caprese ($14.10) was pretty good. It consisted of chicken, mozzarella, red peppers, pesto, and mixed greens. The greens were very fresh and the sandwich was packed with flavor. The chicken was a little dry but not a big deal. There was a lot of red pepper and it was a bit overwhelming so I wished there wasn't so much. Really enjoyed the pesto since it it wasn't too salty and was the cherry on top to the sandwich! I also really liked that the bread was soft and fresh. Got the "Not so Fried" Chicken Sandwich ($13.68) - 1/2 portion and it came with a side (paid extra $1.26) for tomato basil soup. It consisted of chicken, krispies, mustard pickle slaw, tomatoes, onions, and herb aioli. The bread was very fresh and soft. I'm glad I got this in half portion because I thought this was just ok and nothing special. The tomato basil soup was very oily and salty so wasn't too enjoyable. The Pomegranate Mint Lemonade ($5.10) was sooo sweet. It was refreshing but the mint was a little too overpowering. Definitely recommend adding ice and/or water otherwise it's way too sweet! Overall, the sandwich and salads were a bit pricey but definitely one of the better spots for sandwiches and salads in terms of quality and quantity!

Everything, and I mean everything, was so delicious. One of the best dim sum places I've been to. The pricing of the items ranged from $8-$10 per item we ordered which is expensive but as a treat every once in a while and for the amount of time and effort that goes into making dim sum, it was worth it. I've tried making dim sum at home and it is so hard! Pricing breakdown: $8 items: - har gow (4 pcs) - siu mai (4 pcs) - black bean spare rib - pan fried turnip cake - egg custard $9 items: - chicken feet $10 items: - shrimp rice noodle roll I think they no longer have the tripe on their menu anymore bc I couldn't find it on their online ordering. We did wait about an hour, but honestly I didn't mind at all because it gave us a chance to relax, talk, and catch up as a family. They looked like literal pieces of art being poured at the table. Ordering was super easy with the QR code system, so my husband handled the whole spread: shumai dumplings, chicken feet, sesame balls, and more. Everything came out hot, fresh, and beautifully plated. The ENTIRE table agreed on one thing: the chili oil condiment deserves to be sold in bottles to take home. It was that good. Smoky, just the right amount of spicy, and addictive. Now for the real test: my in-laws. They've been to *many* dim sum places and are not easily impressed. They declared this place to have the best chicken feet that they've ever had: meat easily sucked off the bone, melt-in-your-mouth tender, and perfectly seasoned. High praise coming from dim sum veterans. Most importantly, my parents' first dim sum experience couldn't have been better. They loved everything from the ambiance to the food to the overall experience. My husband and I want to come back to explore more of the menu because there's clearly so much more to try

Popped into Noodle St. in Old Town Pasadena for an early lunch, and was thrilled to discover this…read moresmall chain offering Asian fusion creations. It's a comfortable spot with padded banquettes or chairs at the tables, which feature chrome frames and (very good-looking) faux marble tops; along with white walls and light-colored wood accents, the owners have created a clean, simple, welcoming environment. The mood is jostled even further into a specific vibe of calmness with the carefully curated music being played: bossa nova covers of pop hits from bygone days (The Bee Gees' "More Than A Woman" and the Bee Gees'-written Streisand hit, "A Woman In Love" being examples), but it all works. The menu offers a varied selection of dishes from several Asian cultures, from Chinese Beef Rolls to Japanese noodles and soups to Korean Beef over rice. It's not a huge menu, but there's definitely enough there for everyone to find something interesting to eat. The food is all cooked in view of the customers by a staff of chefs working in a sparkling clean kitchen enclosed by windows, and the staff is uniformly friendly despite juggling a lunchtime crowd at the tables plus quite a lot of to-go orders. I tried 2 really enjoyable and satisfying dishes. Beef Rolls featured thinly sliced brisket rolled inside crispy fried crepes with scallion, cilantro and a touch of Hoisin sauce. The brisket had a mild but distinctive flavor that spoke of careful preparation, while the slightly astringent pop from the onions and herbs was a nice foil for the inherent fattiness of the fried crepes. The Hoisin sauce was very subtly deployed, lending tasty support without overwhelming everything else. I added some of the house chili oil for a little extra spice and peppery depth, but these well-made rolls were terrific all by themselves. It should also be noted that the portion is very generous, especially for the price ($12.80), and more than enough for 2 people (perhaps 4 people, if each has 1/2). My other dish was the Qinghai Clear Cold Noodle, a terrific-looking, and even better-tasting blend of thick, chewy noodles, fresh chopped garlic, veggies, tofu and chili sauce that's got a bit of heat but more so a pleasing depth of Chinese spices. This appetizer is packed with flavor and just happens to be Vegan (as are a number of menu items), so it can be enjoyed by anyone. All in all, this was a fantastic mid-week lunch that pleased the senses without breaking the bank, and I even brought some home for later. Do give this Noodle St. a try -- and if you're not in Pasadena, check their website, because they have 8 locations, with a 9th opening soon in Sherman Oaks.

The quality was solid, and everything came out hot. The chicken wings were great, the garlic green beans and cucumber salad were amazing, and the signature spicy ramen was really good too. It was a bit greasy, almost like birria, but the meat was tender and the broth tasted like it had been cooking for 48 hours deep, rich, and full of flavor. The only thing I wouldn't recommend is the Korean beef. It was way too sweet and didn't really give Korean BBQ flavor. The meat seemed more steamed than grilled, and not even vinegar or chili oil could save it for me. Other than that, everything else was fresh, flavorful, and worth coming back for.
