Today we visited Urbane Cafe for breakfast, and for the first time I tried the Tuna Bowl -- it was excellent.Everything is healthy, not greasy, nutritious, and very delicious. The staff are friendly and always smiling. If you're into healthy eating, you'll definitely find a lot of great options here

I know the food is fresh and has the potential to be consistent. The menu is great and specials are creative. That deserves 5 stars. The problem is we definietly have a greater chance of something going wrong because of the frequency of our visits. We have been eating at an Urbane since 2010 (starting with the Stevenson Ranch location). We also each at other locations throughout Southern California while traveling as we know how good their food it. With that said, our most recent visit was still a three star experience. The last time they offered the Really Good Fish Sandwich I went on and on with how tasty it was. This time the sandwich was thrown together and was very dry as it had no tartar sauce. The salad we ordered had a couple of additions and was almost correct. We paid for an extra chipotle ranch and while we received an extra dressing it was not the correct one. I watch the employees and it simply appears that they work in such a manner to see how quickly they can get the order done which may be why there are mistakes from time to time.

This was my first time visiting this Urban Cafe location. This store is very clean and well organized. There is both indoor and outdoor seating area. It is located in a busy shopping center, but it's easy to find a parking spot. For food, I can say Urbane Cafe is one of my favorite places. I love their salads, sandwiches and soups. This time I ordered tomato soup. It was surprisingly good and tasted great. My salad was really good. For service, I would appreciate, if they would call the names for online orders instead of just leaving them there. This would help people know their orders are ready. I would say service in other Urbane Cafe locations is friendlier, but no complaints. Food is always amazing .

I stopped inside to order some items to go, I was greeted by a young man. Super helpful and made sure my request was met. I grabbed two sun dried pesto sandwiches and a Mediterranean bowl minus the side of bread. I didn't have to wait too long before my order was ready. Service was great, very helpful, food was fresh and delicious!

There are no words to properly express how much I enjoyed the food the service and the drinks at this tacility. The Cashier was very nice. The menu was easy to read and I'm dyslexic. We sat down at a nice clean comfortable table. There was a very nice spacing in between the tables so you didn't feel the hot breath of the person behind you. The sandwich I consumed was the turkey sub everything on it was immaculate. The flavours bursting in my mouth giving me different experiences of where each ingredient originated from. I highly recommend the dragon fruit Aqua Fresca. It is literally the dragon fruit refresher from Starbucks but better. #lhighlyrecommend #firsttime #bombAF

Unfortunately yesterday I found an insect moving around in my salad. It was green matching with the color of the salad. I love this place but this is not acceptable. I have photos. I went back and showed them and they was nice enough to give me my money back. Looks like they don't clean the salad before selling to customers.

I have been to three different urbane cafe locations, this is by far the worst. I have pre ordered my lunch on my app. The place was like a zoo. I get it it's Sunday and they are busy. I ordered the pesto & sun-dried tomato sandwich and the Arnold Palmer. The guy gave me a wrong drink. Just the plain lemonade. Then the sandwich was mediocre, it tasted meh. I would not come back to this particular urbane cafe for sure. And the noise level was terrible . Two thumbs down.

Me and my wife came here to enjoy dinner after a nice experience at the Stevenson Ranch location some time ago. Walked in to find ants crawling all over the wall and a couple cockroaches just lying on the floor. Absolutely awful for the first thing to see when you walk in. Stayed for the food and found it to be iffy. Staff was very nice and serviceable. Seems to be a management issue. I'd go elsewhere, and if you must have Urbane, stick to Stevenson Ranch. read more

Despite some glitches attributable to being a brand new location besieged by the usual SCV-new restaurant mob, this is a wonderful addition to the area. The sandwiches are great and are accompanied by an excellent side salad. They have a multitude of new and eager employees working. For attitude alone they deserve 5 stars. The kitchen is a bit slow compared to their other locations, undoubtedly this will improve as the get the glitches straightened out. read more

Great location for SCV. Restaurant is great lots of natural light and lots of seating indoor and out. Working out all the kinks of a new location. Staff is very friendly. We went for lunch and had the Ahi Bowl was great and yummy and had the Salmon Salad and the salmon was cold and very small. I placed a mobile order today and upon arrival it seems that someone took my food, I talked to management and they did not believe me. They asked are you sure you didn't come pick it up? Of course I was sure. And they were hesitant to fix my order and said they would only allow it this one time. When I showed my order confirmation. History

Established in 2003.

It all started in 2003 when owner Tom Holt realized there was a missing niche in the Ventura restaurant scene. He wanted a great sandwich and salad 'Äì something different, while still being dedicated to delicious-tasting food. He understood that every great sandwich starts with the freshest of bread, so he designed the cafe around a hearth oven. Working with his friend Pete, they came up with a bread recipe that was soft, delicious and baked fresh, right in front of your eyes. It didn'Äôt stop there though, he created a menu centered around locally sourced ingredients, juicy-roasted meats, and crafted sauces to give each creation its own unique flavor. Urbane Cafe loves being the place where friends, family, and communities gather to celebrate and make memories over delicious food. Our passion is to have our guests walk out happy every time and keep them coming back for more.

Meet the Business Owner: Tom H.

Tom Holt is the owner, founder and Chief Bread Head of Urbane Cafe. As a young child Tom developed a love for motocross racing. His first career was at the age of sixteen when he became a professional motocross racer. In 2003, Tom Holt'Äôs vision was to bring a great-tasting, healthy, and affordable sandwich and salad restaurant to the friendly people of Ventura, California: a nice, small town where he grew up. Urbane Cafe quickly became the gathering place where people meet to engage, relax and enjoy a great meal at a great value. The success of that first location proved that Tom had struck a chord with the local community. Urbane Cafe is all family owned and has continued to expand since 2003 to multiple locations across California.

The sunshine brought in some warmth to the main hall, though we were seated in a sectioned off area on the left which was more dimly lit. All the while, songs from Luis Miguel's catalogue were playing in the background. Everything that was ordered was presented with delicate precision. I was particularly interested in the Crepas Mexicana, and when it was served the folks around me give the dish the proper amount of oohs and ahhs. Layered poblano crepes filled with shredded chicken and avocado on top of a yellow bell pepper sauce base that was both velvety and hearty. Since it was also one of our friend's birthday, the waitstaff brought out a bowl of ice cream with a candle.

This place is one of my favorites!!! Literally the second you walk in the door you are being greeted by friendly smiles. It was my first time at this location and it's very nice, big and clean. I love that it also has the kiosk that you can order at yourself. Makes it very convenient. My first time trying the salmon bowl and it was INCREDIBLE!! Food is always freshly made, you can tell whoever made it made it with love. I had an incident where they forgot my bread that goes with my salad and the closing manager didn't give me a hard time like other restaurants. She was so sweet and fast working.
