Decent food but the folks that work there in general are just painful. It wasn't as bad when they were officially open. Or maybe it was just the friendly and helpful ladies at the register that covered for the rest of the crew. So I didn't get to experience the lack of service from the rest. To be honest, urbane is not my first place to grab food, and generally because of the bad experiences. But I go there because my wife likes the food. And she's the one that normally gets off to grab the food. Couple of examples of what I've experienced. 1. We ordered a tuna salad and got chicken instead. We didn't noticed until we got home. Tried calling and no answer. Drove back and just to tell us "sorry, but we used chicken because we don't have tuna". Really? Why didn't you call us and ask if chicken would be fine? 2. Today, (remember I normally don't get off to grab the food), I get off and walk up to the cashier area to ask for my order. 6 or so people working back there and no one comes up to help. I stand around for a few minutes and still no one. I then figure I need to pick up in the back, where I used to pick up, and right away this guy stops me and says I can go back there. Okay, but where do I pick up? I walk back to front and finally noticed the cart with the food bags. I found ours and walked out. If up to me, this is the last time I go there. Really fresh and good flavor! The ingredients seem high quality and super fresh. I had the chimichurri steak sandwich. The flavor was good but I was hoping for more chimi churri. I asked the servers for extra, but they didn't know what I was talking about? Other than that the bread was good and the meat was super tender. Also had the Cali sandwich and it is a total winner. It had a nice kick with the amazing flavor. The bread is soft and blends nice with the sandwich. The salads are also really delicious with a unique flavor. The delicious fresh baked flatbread makes this gluten free person break policy. The southwest chicken has a chipotle sauce with just the right amount of kick. The pepper jack cheese has corn and black beans melted in. It's great! Pastrami sandwich has fresh pastrami slices that don't taste like packaged deli meat. I used to go here often in high school but my wallet screams every time I go eat here (which is why I don't go as often anymore as a broke college student). Their menu consists of sandwiches (chicken, turkey, beef, vegetarian choices), salads, soup, sides, beverages and kid menus. My favorite sandwich is their So Cal Chicken Sandwich which consists of roasted chicken, avocado, tomatillo salsa, pepper jack cheese, lettuce, and chipotle aioli on top of their Fire-Baked Focaccia Bread!! THEIR FOCACCIA BREAD IS SOO GOOD. My favorite salad is the Santa Maria BBQ chicken which comes with roasted bbq chicken, chop salad slaw mix, corn & black bean salsa, grape tomatoes, apple-wood smoked bacon, goat cheese, blackberry bbq sauce drizzle. This is amazing with their chipotle ranch dressing!! The salad also comes with a focaccia bread, YASS~ Urbane's lemonade and tea are pretty good and mouth-watering!! If you have the chance, you should get it. Also, you're allowed to sample soup of the days so I recommend you do so :) PS: did i mention they also have cookies???!! Urbane is one of my favorite places to eat at and if you visit here, you'll know why!! (Dined 7/10/11 SU): This place was recommended by my in-laws, so we decided to order take-out and bring the grub back to their place. A very simple no-nonsense establishment that primarily sells sandwiches and salads. Think of a scaled-down Corner Bakery or Panera Bread, but with comparable food and prices. I ordered the Southwest Chicken sandwich (grilled cajun chicken, avocado, corn/black bean, salsa, pepper jack cheese, chipotle mayonnaise) and it came with a small side salad. No drinks since we had plenty waiting for us back at the in-laws. The entire meal was a pleasant surprise. The bread was just right (not too toasty and not soggy) and everything that went into it was fresh. The salad had a nice sweet vinaigrette dressing (can't remember what it was), and would have loved a bigger portion. It was truly a couple pieces of lettuce and other fillers, but the sandwich made up for it with its size and robust ingredients. Although the place had some tables and chairs, I feel it as more conducive for take-out. It's definitely good for having lunch. This place has the best sandwiches I have ever eaten in Santa Clarita. Not only are their sandwiches healthy, they have a great flavor. Their sandwiches come in two separate parts on a plate. You get your greens and your sandwich. I typically order the vegetarian/mushroom and lettuce sandwich and it is amazing. The parking outside is big and there are also seats and tables outside to eat. Inside, it is ambient, quiet and small. You order a meal and they give you a buzzer to pick it up, it usually takes 5-10 minutes on average. There is water and beverages in the back and a bathroom. Don't think they have WiFi inside last time I checked. The tables on the side are narrow but no booths. You can sit inside as well, but I usually just order Togo every time I come by. The service is all done behind the counter, no waiters or waitresses. The price is close to 10$ per entree. There are extras you can add like avocado and bacon for about 1-1.50$. I personally don't care for either and my meal is quite tasty. They have their famous so-cal and southwest sandwiches that contain chicken and avocado or chicken and corn. Those two sandwiches are usually ordered by most customers, but I would explore the menu to see what you like. A great place to date a significant other and socialize. Hope this helps. read more

I was looking for a quick place for dinner after going to Six Flags, and Urbane Cafe looked tasty. I would describe it as a glorified Panera Bread. They offer soups, salads, sandwiches, and fresh baked cookies (the cookies are really good). The prices are reasonable, service was quick, and the cashier was friendly! Golden West Salad: This was delicious, and the dressing was good too. The chicken was actually fresh and had taste. I loved all the toppings: pepita seeds, blue corn tortilla chips. But most of all, I love how they give you focaccia bread. It's literally my favorite type of bread. So fresh and soft! Been going to this Urbane for years and the food is usually good but today ordered to go in person and the staff was SO RUDE! We were simply waiting for our food off to the side avoiding being in the way of people dining in. The staff talking waiting to pack orders made eye contact with us and told us to go sit down but the screen said our food was ready so we said we were fine standing and waiting as we go our food to go. The man then under his breathe said "or just stand there" and rolled his eyes. Don't have screens facing customers saying their food is ready if you don't want them knowing. I've been here a couple of times now! They have pretty good food and I think their cookies are homemade. My only issues with this place is the customer service which I've had mixed experiences with. The first time I picked up an online order where I had tried to sub soup for salad which I wrote in the notes. Concerned that the note wouldn't be paid attention to, I ordered a separate soup just to ensure that she would get her soup. They literally didn't give us either of them! I could understand the one with the note, but they straight up didn't give us a soup that I had ordered separately and PAID for. My second experience was interesting. The order was correct, but they had my order on the wrong rack. It was on the very top with the "A's." I sat there for about 15 minutes waiting for my order. Not once did anyone ask if I was waiting for an order or anything. I very clearly looked like I was waiting for a pick up order. Finally I went to the desk because it was taking so long and I needed to get the food ASAP. I asked about the order and they said "it had been picked up at 11:13A." First of all, I placed the order to be ready at 11:30 so that the food wouldn't get too cold and be sitting out for long. Second, it was not picked up because I was there to pick it up? He looked at the top of the shelf and found my order. I'll admit, I should've checked and not just assumed that orders would be placed on the shelf correctly under their corresponding letters, so that's totally my bad, but still the customer service around this was not great and I felt like they were rude to me when they found the order. Like literally I was nice about it and they could've been nice about it as well and not given me attitude. Also like why did they put my order with the A's? I ordered to-go today and had the BBQ Tri Tip sandwich and ordered a side of fresh fruit. I was very excited for the fruit cup until it arrived and the container was barely half full. I received 1 strawberry, 4 grapes, 2 bites of cantaloupe, and 3 very small bites of pineapple. I know the fruit cup isn't expensive, but it was very disappointing to see a container half full. Very happy with this place. My coworkers and I ordered take out from Urbane Cafe on a day when we felt like we wanted to eat a little on the 'healthy'' side. One of my coworkers is Vegan and we knew that this place would not disappoint. I want to solely write a review for any VEGAN fellow people out there who are looking into dining here. So, although it is primarily a more healthy place to eat, they do use ingredients that are not vegan. For instance, a lot of their sauces are not vegan. There is however, ONE sauce that is vegan and it is their cilantro sauce. Everything else does have dairy. My friend spent some time on the phone with them trying to differentiate which was a good option for her since she is a die-hard vegan :) A lot of their meals do come w/ toast or some type of bread and spreads that come w/ butter. You just have to be specific and get confirmation that what you are ordering IS in fact Vegan. They don't have their ingredients listed in what you are ordering so call in instead :) I don't have any restrictions, so for me it was a breeze and the food was delicious! read more
