I'm a big fan of Urbane Cafe, out of everything I've tasted I must say, grilled cheese is my fave with the pesto chicken not far, nothing here is close to sub par. The freshness, the taste, all is a plus. Just wish there was one closer to us. Whenever I'm hungry, which is most of the time, I know Urbane will treat me just fine. The staff here is pretty friendly for the most port. Only reason why I gave this place four stars is because of the lack of space and seating in this restaurant. Do you like Panera ? Well, it's way better than your usual chain sandwich/ soup restaurant. You can see the focaccia bread being baked right in front of you, and interior is nice too. Very busy place in tiny restaurant so seating can be limited (esp when waiters/waitresses are not available to clean off the tables) so ordering to go via their app is the way to go if you're in a hurry. I tried the turkey and Brie & cranberry sandwich which came with a spring salad on the side. The sandwich was light AND flavorful-- my bf said "it's like thanksgiving meal flavor". This is a great place to eat [seemingly] healthy food in SCV. It's always super busy and packed, but the wait is never that long. Since it's usually packed (especially during lunch or dinner time), I tend to order everything over the phone and go pick it up to-go. The food has always been ready as soon as I get there which is great--the place is pretty tiny so there's not much standing room. That's the only problem with this place. It's sometimes hard to find a place to sit, but there always tables outside too if the weather permits. My favorite is the Pesto Chicken Sun-dried Tomato sandwich. Their sandwiches are more like Paninis with their melted cheese and savory flavors. I've heard their vegetarian sandwiches are delicious too. I recently found out that there is an Urbane Cafe in San Diego too--I can't wait to try that one while I'm going to school down there! Yum! read more

Was never really a "specialty sandwich" guy, until I met my wife - who makes amazing sandwiches of different varieties - and she brought me here. The menu selection has options that fit almost any mood. I've tried a few by now, but would recommend either the Rosemary Chicken or BBQ Tri Tip. Both meats are tender and juicy. Easy to finish a whole sandwich, but end up real full. Great spot for having lunch. All the ingredients taste fresh - especially the stone fired bread! Quality over everything. My bread is never hard, staff is always friendly. I'm here at least twice a month. But I could literally eat it twice a week and not get sick of it. I just try to hold back. Just went to Urbane for lunch today along with everyone else in town. My daughter and I wanted a quick sandwich and salad so we agreed on Urbane. I knew it was going to be a zoo as soon as I got to the parking lot and had trouble finding a spot. The line was out the door and people were everywhere. It was annoying getting pushed around while standing in line when people were coming and going and picking up orders. We were considering placing an online order thinking maybe that would be faster but glad we didn't after talking with my friend who was disappointed her online order was taking way too long. All the tables were taken anyway so we ordered to go. I ordered the ahi tuna special (no feta due to my allergies but I don't think ahi goes with any kind of cheese anyway). My daughter had the SoCal Chicken sandwich and we bought an extra bread for later. Total bill $21.20+tax. We both enjoyed our meals and we will return again but only on non peak hours. They only have one cashier and the place is so small and crowded. The good news is they gave you a buzzer to let you know your order is ready but then you have to fight the crowd to get to the pick up window. 4.5 stars - food 3 stars - overall experience read more

It was tasty and portion size was filling (I couldn't finish the last few bites of mine). Service is friendly and facilities are clean.
