I chose Canvas based on finding Cassie on Instagram and TikTok and liking her hair and that of her clients. And I've now seen Cassie a few times with great results each time. First-time clients do have to call the salon directly to book as a credit card is required to reserve your appointment. Initially, all stylists and staff were wearing masks. Even though COVID didn't actually ease up, mask use did. It's supposed to be you wear a mask if not vaccinated. I'm not entirely sure I trust that the entire team of staff and stylists are fully vaccinated (we're in a conservative state and we know who is the least likely to get vaccinated, just sayin'). This made me a little nervous. But I wore my mask regardless of me being vaccinated and made sure to use lots of sanitizer. They do provide hand sanitizer at the front desk. And the shampoo chairs are supposedly sanitized between each client. Front desk staff have always been nice and pleasant. Salon itself is clean and nice. Cassie is really nice and has repeatedly done a great job with my cut and color. I will say that it seems like stylists here (and really all throughout the Midwest) are on the conservative side with their cuts and colors. And they defer a lot to their clients. I'm more used to my Vegas celebrity-type stylists who tell me how my hair should be and just do it. All that said, I would totally recommend Cassie and Canvas. It's the best I've found in the Omaha area. read more

The salon owner contacted Yelp to remove my negative review.She claimed the below review was not a "firsthand experience as a customer of the business". I want to be clear to the owner that below event was my experience as a customer. I refuse to name the stylist because she didn't do anything wrong. Yet, as proof that I have been in your salon. During pandemic you charged customers a "covid" fee to cover costs you incurred because of CDC restrictions. Then upon arrival, I was asked to wash my hands, even though that didn't make sense because I rarely saw clients touch anything except the purses, drinks, or phones we had. Next, after every shampoo, your stylists had to sanitize the chairs. Your staff were friendly. I remember one stylist who had the dreads; she had a baby. The young woman who worked the from desk (and I apologize for not knowing her name, but she's like me on the plus size) always left was helpful. The only reason I left Canvas salon because I saw the a representative of that salon treat another company's customer service rep with disrespect. Now, by flagging my original review, this is another negative first hand experience that I have had with your salon. The original review. In late 2020, I was in the drive thru line at Starbucks on 370 and 72nd waiting for my drink. While I was checking my phone, I heard a woman yelling. I looked up and the driver was engaging in a heated conversation with the Starbucks employee. I looked at the car, it was a vehicle with the Canvas Salon logo on it. When I finally approached the window, the employee was nearly in tears. I asked my stylist what kind of car the owner drove and she confirmed it. Since I didn't want my stylist to bear the consequences of lost wages based in her employer's action, I waited until after the holidays to end my association with Canvas Salon. Any person who is in the service industry who treats another individual also in the service industry with disrespect indicates to me that they lack empathy. If they lack empathy then how do I know that they truly care about providing me a great service. read more

I went in for a cut and color not having been to to salon for years. We decided on a cut and fashion color. I said I thought purple, she agreed asked about doing a balayage with multiple purple colors. I was completely excited about it. Cut is great, no real complaints, simply shoulder length bob with an undercut. And in the salon I thought it looked good. I was a bit concerned, because she continued to deposit color even after being finished with the cut and color, but don't like confrontation. For that I am sorry that I didn't pay more attention and look more closely or say something. Because when I got home and in good lighting I saw that it wasn't what I thought. The colors don't blend well and they are rather wide patches. The purples are all shades from pink tones of purple to blue tones of purple all randomly placed. There wasn't even full coverage of the all lightened areas. I bought product to protect the color and now that I have washed it, its even worse. There is no retained color deposited on the roots of my hair. I have to say that the stylist seemed professional and stated having 16 years of experience, so I have to presume that it was an intentional lack of care and distaste. That is why I won't even consider returning for correction at this point. There was no upfront communication about the cost of services, which I am as much at fault for not discussing, as my stylist. But for the money that I spent for the service and the fact that I understand the service industry, so I always tip well, I am extremely disappointed. read more

My biggest issue with Canvas is that they were not upfront with the cost. I made my apt using their app and it quotes you a price for what you are making the apt for. When I went in I talked to the stylist about what I wanted done, a partial highlight, and what my price point was. I was in the chair for close to 3 hours, which is way longer than I would have expected. When I checked out the total was $220. It would not have bothered me as much if they would have just been upfront with me. I have gone to many salons to do hair coloring and none of them said what the lady over the phone. I wish I had caught her name but I didn't. They recommended that I come in and they look at my hair to see if my hair is healthy enough for it. I've got my hair cut at many salons and while not every stylist will do what I want because "people will make fun of your hair" I went to Saytee and told her I wanted a mullet she looked at me and said awesome! Never questioned what I wanted done to my hair! I really enjoy the wash and the hot towel and even beard trims! Yeah might be a little pricey but it's only money and you can't take it with you! I had my hair done for a wedding where I was the bridesmaid. I wanted curled up with half up. It's a style I could have done myself but I wanted it done at a salon so I could relax with the bride and have a more polished look than doing it myself. I have long hair and holds a curl but the curls she did were already falling out As i was leaving. She put my hair up and made me look coneheaded even though I showed her pictures of what I wanted. I ended up taking down the up-do and restyling it. They were nice and the shop was clean but they didn't seem like experienced professionals- I heard two girls talking about hair school- seems like they are all recently new to being stylists. I just wish she would have told me she wouldn't be able to curl my hair. I made it clear the wedding was late and I needed a style that would last. Completely unimpressed- would not recommend for an important event at all. You can see in my picture my hair is basically straight, and I was charge $60 for an up-do. I went to Canvas for the second time for a trim. The first time was pretty good, but the second time I was a little disappointed in my style. Every picture they post has beautiful waves. Both times I went, I left with super straight hair, which is not my favorite look and is something I can easily do. Part of the fun of going to a professional stylist is leaving with a look I can't easily do myself, along with a good cut. I also had to wait fifteen minutes, even though I was on time for my appointment, and there was never an apology or even a "thanks for waiting." read more
