Very solid pizza here. I'd say this ranks top 5 in North County. Stick with the originals, and this pizza will impress. If your ordering artichokes or chicken on your pizza, don't leave a review. Nice crispy crust and tang from the sauce, and enjoyed the fresh mozzarella on there. Portions were perfect, got a small between two people and it worked out. This is our most favorite pizza in the whole wide world. My husband and I are regulars at the Vista and North Park URBN locations, and happened to be near the Encinitas location over the weekend. We had never been to this one before so we were looking forward to checking it out. We were welcomed in and took a seat at their inside bar area. They had some tasty brews on tap so we ordered a couple and a large pizza to share. They weren't super busy just yet so our pizza came pretty quickly (however, we never mind waiting long for a delicious URBN pie!) Being a vegetarian, we usually order one side with a meat option and the other side without meat and only veggies; my husband's side had the incorrect meat so when they brought it out they asked if it looked good and my husband made a comment that it looked great however it was supposed to have been salami instead of sausage but he would eat it anyway. Our server insisted on getting him what he really wanted so within 10-15 minutes they surprised us with a whole new pizza with salami and basil! (which is what my husband had ordered on his side). They told us that the new pizza was complementary and we could just take it to go. Wow. That's some pretty epic customer service right there! Pizza was delicious! Apparently we came in at a really bad time and our pizza took 40 minutes and then when we got it it was burnt to a crisp....edges were completely black. The waitress dropped off the pizza and said it is a little burnt is that ok?? We were so hungry after waiting so long that she said we could eat the middle part and they would remake our pizza. The bottom was not burnt which I was surprised about considering how burnt the edges were. She was apologetic about how long the pizza took and about it coming out burnt. They did give us a little discount on the pizza. All in all I would like to come back and try them again...hopefully it will not take as long and will not be burnt!! read more

I've been to the Vista location and have also had great service with amazing food. On a visit to the Encinitas location, I called in the order and the pizza was cold and soggy, but the crust was burnt. It took awhile for me to be helped and my salad wasn't ready when I got there. Urbn's wood-fired gluten free pizza is so ridiculously fresh and delicious! I love the chill atmosphere and the servers are always nice. On occasion the music can be too loud but they've been happy to turn it down a bit. I love bringing my visiting friends to Urbn! read more

From dirty napkins etc on the floor to dirty tables, it was not the same place we used to love. And the pizza? Let me start out I've been to the URBN in Vista multiple times, never had a bad experience and I love it there, but the Encinitas one is closer to my work so I figured I'd pick up a salad on the way home. I called and placed my order before leaving work, and he asked me what size salad I want which was confusing since the Vista one is one size, but anyway I asked what the difference was between a large and a small and he said the small should be good enough for two people. So I ordered the salad with chicken. The order came out to 16 dollars. He said it would be ready in 5 minutes. And its 15 minutes from my work so I said thats perfect. When I got there it still wasn't ready and I had to wait another 5 minutes. Then when I got my salad the box was the size of my fist, I was astounded, the Vista salad is the size of my head, and then I got my chicken separately, they didn't even prepare the salad. Now, the chicken was so greasy I have spots in my car from it and then when I opened it was dry and just didn't not taste good. In summation, I paid 16 dollars for a salad barely big enough to feed myself, with dried out super greasy chicken, not even prepared together. I do not think I'll be back there, I'll spend the extra time driving to Vista. read more

I really like this place. I think I'll always like the Vista location the most because that's the first one I went to. I miss the days where there was only one size for the salad and it was cheap, oh well. I recommend you get the mashed potato and bacon pizza. This place avoids a one star review because they do make a tasty pizza. However, both times I've been here the wait for food has been tremendous. Most recently, on a Sunday night, it took roughly an hour for them to bring out our pizzas after we placed the order. There is simply no excuse for this. Hire more people in the kitchen or get more ovens. Figure out a way to run your restaurant so that guests are not twiddling their thumbs for an hour waiting to eat. I was actually really excited to try this place since I like the Basic downtown and the URBN in Vista, both of which I believe are part of the same company as URBN Encinitas. Unfortunately, this place was a very big let down. The service was really unprofessional and the space itself was terrible too. No air conditioning, an odd layout, uncomfortable seats, etc. I even overheard one employee talking to other customers about how awful it is being there all day without air conditioning in a small place that contains a 950° oven. The level of professionalism of the service absolutely pales in comparison to the Blue Ribbon Pizza right across the street. The pizza is a step down from Blue Ribbon as well since I found it to be soggy and the mozzarella was certainly not the highest quality. With the high prices they are charging, one would expect a correspondingly high level of service and food quality. However, this is definitely not the case here. Once my pizza finally arrived (after 30 minutes of waiting and some explanation about a kitchen mishap) the server says to me "alright bud....what do you think?" That sort of thing is fine for a two dollar a slice pizza joint, but not for a sit down restaurant demanding these prices and trying to compete with the highest end gourmet pizza establishments. I normally dine at the Urbn location in Vista, as it is close to my residence, however happened to be closer to this location this evening, and they are open later than the location in vista. I was craving the Urbn salad with chicken so called in to place my order. The gentleman whom I placed my order with was very nice and friendly, as well as polite. Once I arrived, most of the tables were occupied by people hanging out enjoying the pleasant night, and there were a couple people who were somewhat blocking the cash register area which made it a little confusing for me, being that this was my first time to this particular location. I paid for my order and they handed me my salad. One difference upon receiving my salad in regards to the vista location, the vista location will add in the chicken on top of the salad. So I am guessing maybe this was due to me ordering my salad to go? I had just assumed the dressing was in the container that had my salad. I was eager to eat my salad, as it has been a very long time since I last had it. I am sorry to say that I was very disappointed to find that they did not give me any dressing for my salad. What a bummer! By this time I was obviously not going to drive back just for the dressing, but I was very sad, since I was really looking forward to this salad with the dressing, of course! Fortunately, they use the freshest ingredients, and the other items in this salad have enough flavor. It was still tasty, but obviously just not the same. For $18 (I got the larger Urbn salad w/ chicken), I would've really loved to enjoy the delicious dressing with my salad. Everyone makes mistakes so no big deal. I still ate the salad, and I will probably order from this location again in the near future. However, it wouldn't hurt to maybe put the dressing in containers that fit in the container the salad is packaged to go in All in all, great food, the quality of food from Urbn is top notch and it's always delicious. read more

The pizza here is good, but the experience is challenging because of the staff. Normally I would've given them 3 to 3 1/2 stars because I can usually navigate my way through getting what I want without getting too pissed off at the bad service. However after my last experience, they lost a star. I called at 9:30 on a night when they close at 10. I wanted to order a pie to pick up, and I live five minutes from the place. I would figure this would be a no-brainer. I was told the kitchen closes before the restaurant, and I could not get a pie to go-even though they only take 5 or 6 minutes to cook. Good food. Terrible service. We've eaten at the Urbn in Vista a number of times and are huge fans. On a trip down the coast we thought we'd check out this new location in Encinitas. As we walked in, Laura told us "I'll seat you, just a minute" and then after a few, "Go ahead and seat yourselves and I'll follow you with menus". Five minutes after we sat down another server approached us and we explained we were waiting to receive menus, so she went and summoned Laura who finally dropped off the menus and took our beverage order. Salad came out without incident, and later as the pizzas were being delivered, I asked the server (who was not Laura) for another beer. My daughter's pizza was ordered 'without cheese' and although there was no cheese over the red sauce there was cheese sprinkled over the top of the pepperoni. We also weren't offered fresh plates so we got to enjoy our pizza with the remnants of the salad dressing. I never received my beer. My wife ran out of water. Laura didn't check on us once. We had to request our check, then I had to track her down to pay the bill as it was never collected from our table. The food was good but this was a truly disappointing service experience. read more

I love URBN, and it's tragic that they shut down their brewery operations because I miss their brown ale. It was like angel tears and I want it back. Alas, I'm left with their pizza, which is delicious. I love pizza, but I'm a pepperoni guy. Just give me an excellent piece of pepperoni and I'm good. URBN actually causes me to branch out past my red, spiced circle of comfort and try their creations. I've enjoyed all of the pizzas I've tried here, which is more than I care to enumerate. The price for their biggest pie can be steep but I'm willing to forgive it because it's delicious. Their beer selection is also good and local, with enough variety and seasonality to keep you coming back. Now if they'd only brew their brown ale again... read more

Small/ cozy spot with great interior decor. Staff is friendly and very knowledgable. It can get packed quickly so be patient if you'll have to wait for a table if you're with a party. Their coal fired Pizza was amazing!! Along with their house beers that they brew down in El Cajon. The Vista location is much better. The waitresses in Encinitas had dirty tables everywhere, made no eye contact with us until we had to get up to walk over to them each time, were bitchy, and seemed to act as though customers we were an interference when there were only three couples and two waitresses one Sunday. They were too busy discussing their plans, their boyfriends, and what to wear which is always fun, just not while customers are waiting. Several groups of customers came in and left since no one greeted them. One family came in ordered then left because they never got their drinks after a prolonged time as waitresses chatted to each other at cash register about life. We had no silverware, wanted refills, and wanted to order something else. They never helped us with these items. The men working very hard at salad station and coal oven had to assist us and others since waitresses either never even noticed customers keep walking up to counter for items they never gave us or other patrons who had to request items the waitresses forgot, or to add items, or the waitress may not have cared. It was like the men previously informed the waitresses some customers needed help and the waitresses yelled or got mad at the men, so the men handled it for us although not their specific job to avoid the bitchy waitresses. The waitresses were outwardly mean to the chef and salad man with these men just taking it politely never responding negatively. The chef/cook and salad man seemed like they were afraid of waitresses' wrath. They did not want to get in trouble interrupting the waitresses who were doing nothing but standing and sitting. The chef and salad men were the best, very polite and helpful. The waitresses were also eating pizza after THEY messed up an order, not sharing with chef and salad man, eating in front of us while we couldn't eat because of no silverware or plates. Food, chef, and salad man there are always fabulous - working hard, juggling responsibilities, and deserve a big bonus for handling the restaurant except for payments while waitress were worthless. The owners can teach those two waitresses the duties but they canned t each naturally nice personalities. read more

The food is great however Joseph took my order on Sunday from the Encinitas Street fair and messed up on it and then embarrassed me in front of my date. When it came to the table I clearly said that wasn't what I ordered and then Joseph came to the table completely rude and wasn't going to fix the mistake. The BIG MISTAKE he made is I won't be going back there again and have told my friends what happened. He could have cared less about pleasing a customer and I also told him I was there the week before and spent $70.00 with my family. He didnt even remember that much. Been to URBN in Vista many times and while sometimes the wait might have been long the service was always good. URBN in Encinitas has great pizza like the Vista location, but the service was horrible.
