So first, I feel morally obligated to give anyone reading this some free advice...If you buy a used car and it only comes with one copy key, GET ANOTHER COPY MADE A.S.A.P. If however you decided to test your luck and keep using that same old, beaten to snot key...like I did...don't be surprised if one day you go to start your car only to discover that the key suddenly won't turn in your ignition anymore. If/when it does happen, DON'T freak out!! Just get ahold of Urgent Lock & Key. No, seriously, my poor car key finally died...and damaged my ignition in the process. I was TERRIFIED I'd be looking at hundreds of dollars in parts and labor to change the ignition out, not to mention the cost of towing and a new key. Then I got smart, and found these guys. They not only responded to my request for a bid INCREDIBLY fast, the price they quoted me was reasonable, and a lot less than I expected to be pay. Tarik came to my place after midnight when I got home from a Friday night out and discovered I'd locked myself out. He arrived within about 10 minutes. He was professional and explained the charges for each step of the service to me before proceeding forward. It took a while, and he wasn't able to pick the lock (good to know my locks aren't pickable?), but he worked hard to eventually replace it. The final charge was much less than I would have expected to pay for a locksmith to come out in the middle of the night on a weekend and work for over an hour. I was at the tail end of what has proven to be the most awful move of all time (with a ton of experience in that realm)! I finally get my storage container dropped off. And the lock on the unit wouldn't open for me, but the driver somehow managed to man handle it open. So I let him go on his merry way thinking - it works. I was so wrong! I go outside to start many loads of emptying said storage container - break one of the keys in the lock, had to get it out with some pliers, watched countless YouTube videos and proceeded to WD40 it and bang it with a hanger, shook the key in place - nothing worked. So I know a locksmith has to get involved and also know my movers are going to be there the next day, and if we can't get into the storage container - they would have had nothing to move! I call Urgent early in the morning to try to avoid delaying my movers. Of the 3 vendors I called, he was the only to pick up. So great customer service and true to 24/7 nature (especially on a Sunday morning). He was at my house no more than 2 hours from my call in - so timely service which supports the urgency conveyed in the name! Super friendly service. He had his work cut out for him as something damaged the lock so substantially it was not going to open. He had to drill straight through and almost reached a point of having the cut/saw it off but his 4th drill attempt was a success. He came with experience and worked diligently on a very humid morning. My movers offered me the same great service he did and the move from hell is done! Thank goodness for Urgent - or it would have been even more delays and money spent. If you are in urgent need of a Locksmith, look no further. Great customer service here, I'm very impressed. I called and spoke to Michael this afternoon because my front door lock decided it liked me so much it stayed in my hand when I turned the knob which is not what you want in a front door lock, so I called and asked some questions of Michael and he was able to get a tech, Tarik, out here today and he was just awesome, he helped me get everything squared away and was very polite and respectful, took his shoes off before entering my house and sanitized everything he touched before he left. We had a home invasion robbery in my neighborhood not too long ago. As a result, I began researching ways to beef up my front and patio entry doors. After getting an idea what new hardware I was interested in, I began to look for a locksmith to do the work. I spoke to several concerns, all of which wanted anywhere from $75 to $95 just to come out and look. After which, "the technician would advise the costs of parts and labor". No bueno. I called Urgent Lock and Key, and Tareq called me back in about ten minutes. I explained what I thought I wanted to do, and Tareq suggested hardware substituions that would equal or surpass what I had researched, and be less expensive as well. Tareq gave me a quote over the phone on labor, and advised if I bought the parts I could save 20%, as opposed to him purchasing for me. Although I eventually opted to ask Tareq to purchase all of the parts for me, I was struck by how he was going out of his way to save me money. Needless to say, I made an appointment with him. A couple days later, after the hardware came in, we had an appointment at 10am. At 9:50am, he called me to say he was running a little late and would be at my house in 20 minutes. At exactly 10:10am, he knocked on my door. During the course of the installation, everything was, "Yes sir" or "No sir". When he finished a particular part of the job he asked me to come check it. We had an ongoing power outage situation that day, where the power would go off in the house and then come back on. Needless to say, with the doors open, it got a little toasty. Tareq was sweating quite a lot, but never complained and just continued to work, kinda like a man possessed. (I gave him a coke, don't tell anybody!) When it came time to settle up, Tareq asked if I was a veteran, (Vietnam, Desert Storm). I was given an additional 10% discount. You know the story of you need an extra key to your house for a guest coming into town and you go to find it. Instead of finding that one key you need you find 20 keys that you have no idea what they are for. Well that is my story. So I got some quotes here on Yelp and Urgent Lock & Key came back with the best rate. $125 to replace 6 locks! Every one else wanted around $175. So I asked if they could come out that same day at a specific time and they said no problem. A half hour prior to them showing up Tarik sent me a text saying he was running late. Not that big of deal as I had nothing to do. The only complaint that I have is that he said he'd be there at 6:45 and he showed up closer to 7:00. If I did have other plans this would have been an issue, but like I said I had no other plans. Tarik was able to take the one key that I had and replace the locks of the four other doors with the same key. This was highly impressive as two of the doors still had locks on them from the 70's.
