Last night my dog, Blu, was involved in an accident at the groomers. It was pretty awful. I immediately took him over to UrgentVet in McKinney. I am so happy that I did. The staff there from the moment we got there were 100% attentive to him and myself. They began by helping me get Blu out of my car. The initial exam by the Vet was as thorough as I would give on a human patient when I was a medic. It was in no way rushed, it was done methodical and not rushed at all. At the end of the initial, before anything else was done, Blu was given pain meds so he would have some relief right away. Blu needed to have blood work and x-rays. The techs that did this were as amazing as the vet. Everything was done with the focus on what Blu could tolerate. Again, not rushed at all. I could tell that it calmed Blu down and he felt cared for. Thank goodness nothing was broken or displaced. Blu just had soft tissue damage. We were given medication for pain and swelling. I can not even begin to say "thank you" enough to the staff here. They took amazing care of my Blu and also of me. You guys were amazing!! read more

I am extremely disappointed with the care my 13-week-old puppy, Oreo, received at this urgent care facility. Oreo suffered a broken leg and was brought in for immediate care. After paying $678 for evaluation, X-rays, and medication, we were told he needed surgery that would cost between $4,500-$5,800. While I understand surgery may be the ideal treatment in some fracture cases, my concern is how he was handled after diagnosis. My puppy was sent home with a painful broken leg and no splint or stabilization whatsoever. I specifically asked about a splint and was told it would make things worse. That meant I went home with a 6.3-pound puppy who could not stand, repeatedly fell over trying to use the bathroom, and had absolutely no support or protection on his injured leg while I was trying to figure out how to pay for surgery. The very next day, I sought a second opinion from another veterinarian. They were able to realign his leg, confirm placement with X-ray, and apply a full splint for approximately $400. My puppy immediately had better support, safety, and comfort. I understand that different veterinarians may approach treatment differently, and I understand surgery may still be needed. However, I cannot understand sending a tiny puppy home with a completely unstable fracture and no stabilization. I left feeling like the focus was far more on expensive surgery than on immediate care, comfort, and practical support for my puppy. I hope this review encourages the clinic to reconsider how situations like this are handled in the future read more

This facility was absolutely amazing I wish I could give 10 stars. I had to bring in my Chihuahua for a sudden emergency and this staff was extremely kind, patient, and thorough. They treated my dog with so much compassion and explained everything clearly, while answering all of our questions. We never felt rushed, unheard, or pressured to pay for anything that may be unnecessary for our dog. Given an emergency, this is definitely the safest place to bring your pet. Thank you! read more

Took my dog in to check out a spot under her eye. They were very inviting from the moment I walked in. She took me back to a room immediately and got us all set up for the exam. The tech and doctor were incredibly professional, nice and explained everything very well. I understood everything that was going on and why each step was taken. I went to UrgentVet this afternoon in McKinney due to recommendations on a Facebook post I saw this morning. I was able to reserve a spot online within 45 min of looking at their slots. Arrived 10 min early and they took us back immediately. We were there less than 2 hours. The vet (Dr. Kolegue) and tech (Breanna) were both super nice, attentive and caring. I would also say they're reasonably priced considering they operate on "emergency" hours. It was $129 for an office visit. We did spend about $300 but that was because we needed to get some medication. I would highly recommend going there! read more

Scam just a big rip off I get it you're open late but does that mean take full advantage of owners of pets in need?

A little late on this review but wanted to write this up. In November of 2024 our dog managed to eat a Tomcat Rat Bait Brick that I had put in the garage as we had a bit of a rat infestation. Fortunately I caught him right when he ate it otherwise if I had not known this story could have gone much differently. But we immediately called our regular vet and they told us to go the the emergency vet ASAP which we did. Fortunately UrgentVet is only 5 mins from the house and we sped over there. I was afraid when we got in we would have to wait but fortunately it was not that busy and they immediately brought us and our dog Lucky back. I brought them the bag of Tomcat Rat Bait bricks and they went ahead and took him back to induce vomiting. After doing that they brought him back into the room and explained he was able to vomit up the brick and fortunately he ate the thing whole so it was not broken up much. They then mixed in some activated charcoal with some canned dog food. Now normally our dog would just wolf that "stinky" food down without question but we slowly tried to get him to eat maybe half the can. But the staff continued on until he would not eat any more then they got a oral syringe and fill it up with the remaining amount of charcoal that he would need and were able to shoot it down his mouth. After monitoring him for a bit we were able to leave and he recovered fairly quickly. Even the next day the lady we worked with even called to see how he was doing. Told him he was back to his old "Hungry" self and did not seem to have any side effects. The staff was awesome and we really appreciate their first aid to allow us to live a bit longer with our Furry Kid. Hope we don't have to visit again, but I am glad to know UrgentVet is there. We took our 20 year-old cat to urgent vet on a Sunday to have her put down. It was an agonizing choice, but we thought she was suffering too much and we didn't want to wait another day to go to our regular vet. understand this is typically an emergency facility, but very strange/expensive consultation. nice staff, however the consultation is 50+% more than many Vets consultations. recommend going to experienced Vet and getting a more robust consultation with more affordable meds. read more

My 2 kitties, Luke and Rey (yes we are Star Wars geeks!), quit eating on a Friday afternoon. They were not drinking water and the smaller of the 2 became lethargic. We decided that it was time to have them seen. We didn't want to wait until Saturday morning to try and find a Vet, so we went to the internet. We found Urgent Vet was close and had many great reviews. Dr. Williams and Melissa were just what we needed. They listened to our concerns, gave us options and pricing, and let us move forward at a pace that worked for us. Both cats received fluids and nausea medication. We were advised that if anyone vomited in the next 24 hours that they would need to come back and be seen again. Rey, our Tortie with a tude, of course vomited before the 24 hours was up. I called and spoke with Melissa on the phone. She advised to bring her in to see what they could do to get her on the right track. The second visit was less than 24 hours later, so they waived the 129.00 consultation fee. We did blood work and X-rays this visit. Dr. Randle sat down with us and went over every X-ray view and every result on the blood panel. She made sure we understood everything that was happening with Rey. She discussed treatment options and let us decide witch path to take. I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Williams, Dr. Randal, and Melissa. They were the calm in our storm that we needed. DO NOT BRING YOUR BABY HERE!!!!! WOULD PUT 0 STARS IF POSSIBLE!!!! 2 days ago we brought our pup here because we believed he was accidentally poisoned from antifreeze by chewing up an empty bottle in our garage. There could have possibly been a tiny bit left over in the bottle which is enough to be fatal... When we realized what happened, our vet was closed for the day so we brought him here. BIGGEST MISTAKE EVER!!!!!!!! When our pup was being seen and we told the vet what we were 100% sure what happened, she said he sounded like he had distemper because of congestion in his nose. They wanted over $700 to even draw blood which was no problem if they would have let me pay the next day when I had the money. I literally got paid the next day!!! I could have even put most of it down that night... THEY WOULDNT DO ANYTHING WITHOUT THE FULL AMOUNT OF MONEY! I understand how emergency vets work but he was DYING! They didn't tell us anything we could try and turns out we could have possibly saved him!!!! Yesterday morning we got in with our personal veterinarian and sat all day trying to bring him back with treatment.. When they closed for the day (they don't have workers overnight), we got sent home with more treatment to keep trying to save him. She informed us that the other vet should have told us to give him vodka. Yes alcoholic vodka! It has an antidote in it. This isn't common knowledge but veterinarians know about it. When I searched the internet, only formal names of antidotes came up, so I had no idea about vodka.... We were also in a panic and felt like we needed to get him to an emergency veterinarian ASAP so they could do their job and save him! BUT THESE PEOPLE ONLY CARE ABOUT MONEY AND WOULDN'T EVEN TRY TO TELL US ANYTHING TO HELP. How could it have hurt them to tell us about the vodka??? How can you look at someone's pet who is in pain and not help in any way!!!! Money or not!!!! I AM FURIOUS! Late last night I held my baby while he had a seizure before taking him to his vet (she opened up the clinic after hours, she is a saint!) and we euthanized him.. I watched him take his last breath knowing I had no control.. DO NOT EVER TAKE YOUR BABY HERE THEY DON'T CARE AND I FULLY BELIEVE THEY COULD HAVE ATLEAST TOLD US ABOUT THE VODKA!!!!
