Urth caffe is a popular breakfast and brunch spot in Pasadena. We went in for breakfast on Sunday morning and there was already a line though we didn't wait too long. If you want to dine there, you order first and then find an empty table where they would later bring you your food. It's really spacious and there's a lot of outdoor sitting areas to accommodate how popular this brunch spot is! It's a pretty area to sit down and enjoy your coffee and food. I got their famous Spanish latte and shared eggs benedict canyon w/ smoked salmon, Italian omelette, and wild mushroom pizza with 2 of my friends. I got their Spanish latte which is one of their most popular drinks and their sizes are huge! I got a small and their small is basically like a medium at other coffee places. They use big cups for their drinks which in my opinion makes it worth it. I also got mild so the coffee wasn't too strong but I really like it since I'm not a huge fan of coffee. It had a hint of sweetness but also not too sweet. The eggs benedict canyon had a good amount of smoked salmon and I liked how there were pomegranate seeds as the topping which had a nice acidity to it. The wild mushroom pizza was good as well and came with some sauces and grated cheese. The Italian omelette was my least favorite but it wasn't bad or anything. The omelette has a good amount of filling such a tomatoes, sausages, and cheese. We chose fruits as the side for the omelette but the fruits weren't in season anymore so it wasn't really sweet or ripe. Because of that, I deducted a star from the rating. Overall, Urth caffe is a good spot for brunch if you're in the area and if you're looking for a place to relax and enjoy the weather! read more

Lovely place with plenty of outdoor seating. I don't think I would come back here if it wasn't for the outdoor seating (for my dog). The food is pricey and it was just eh. I got the Parma Panini ($18.75) and it comes with a side of salad. Nothing too special with the sandwich, just prosciutto and cheese. My partner got the Italian Omelette ($16.25). I didn't bother trying it and it did come out looking cold and hard lol. The fresh squeezed orange juice ($8) was really good, except I wish it came cold. Place is worth a second try. I'll have to see what others order before going back! read more

Overall the place is good. Seating is limited, due to individuals working on laptops and just hanging out without food or drinks. Food and coffee were good but same you can get elsewhere. The wait is crazy, 30mins for a latte. It's all more or less self service so if you need something you have to go get it. Napkins, silverware etc. also I highly recommend avoiding the water stations. I watched 3 people fill up their personal bottles putting the tap of the water pitcher into the mouth part of their bottle. Super gross and with the flu going around, it's a terrible idea. read more

Good food. Not for folks with allergens though because the staff is not aware when you ask them if something contains an allergen. Staff has no knowledge at the register when asked. We waited in a long line for to go. Food took an hour. Assuming the long constant lines cause the staff to be impatient and not helpful. Nice ambience. Loud, with heat lamps and outdoors. read more

It's fresh food. A busy cafe in the lovely town of Pasadena. It was delicious, and although the food didn't all come out at the right time, the food that did was delicious. My friend had the avocado toast which was on a thick dark wheat prairie bread, and was more than filling. I had the Mexican omelet which was good, but my husband's Huevos rancheros were calling me. I had a bite but I have to admit the "chile" below was a bit of a southwestern flavor chile and gave me a bit of heartburn. The kids ate the açaí bowls and were not able to finish. Great serving sizes and all ingredients were fresh. read more

Today I attempted to place a take out order via phone call. I began my order and after the total amount came out to over $200, the staff taking the order said there was a new policy that limited phone orders to $50. He did not make this statement until after I verbally completed my order with him. Then he was very short and stated that he couldn't even accept my order if I provided my credit card number for prepayment. He then said I would need to go in person or order online only. I asked to speak to the manager and he said he was the manager and that was that. I was still willing to support this establishment even with the astounding rise in prices and the decrease in portion size of food. Unfortunately, the poor service and high prices have made Urth Cafe an unappealing establishment to visit. read more

Do not come here!!! the literally take FREAKING forever we ordered an hour ago and I still haven't got my food the manager came and had a huge ass attitude super disrespectful I only recommend if u like wasting ur time. I love Urth! It's one of my favorite cafes. Their coffee is always super smooth, the food is delicious and the desserts are to die for! It's located on Colorado and it's always super busy. D'Lox Pizza - the smoked salmon plate on pizza - this is my favorite thing to get here, it's just perfection! Honey Vanilla Latte - another favorite! I usually get the mild roast and it is so smooth and the sweetness is great! Every sip makes me smile :) Their coffees are special because they are shade grown and organic. It gives such a smooth flavor. They offer their coffees in mild or dark roast. When you dine in, get ready for the supersize large coffee! It's huge! I love it! The architecture is beautiful! Make sure to walk around to check out the tile details. It's mostly outdoor seating, but it's covered and during cold nights, they put the shade down with the heaters on, it's always comfortable. Parking is available on the street or in the paid nearby lots. It's located 1 block from the Pasadena Playhouse. Definitely recommended! read more

The bread is yumalicious!! The lattes are also all super cute with cute latte art and the coffee is pretty smooth and delish, definitely does run in the sweeter side though. There is also lots of seating, mainly more outdoor seating though. The food also came out pretty quickly and the servers were very sweet and nice. read more

This was some delicious food! We did get our lunch to go to take back to the hotel because indoor seating is very limited and it was 97 degrees out. Waited in line to order. They took our name and told us to wait on patio. Was a bit of a wait but they were super busy. When food arrived we thankfully checked it before leaving as we were missing a bagel. Took a few minutes to get someone's attention but we got it. Back to hotel and all foods were a hit! I loved my pizza margherita! They even sent fresh oregano, chili oil and fresh Parmesan with it. The menu is massive, so take your time in line to peruse. I loved the grilled cilantro chicken breast with pesto sandwich and didn't mind paying the up fee for the salad on the side. I pre-ordered a pie from Urth for the first time this thanksgiving. It is definitely worth it. This pie tastes different. It has some spices blended within the pumpkin puree. This gives it a different flavor and taste. The crust is generous and also has a unique texture and flavor. The pie is captivating, and it is unlike any other pumpkin pie I have tasted in my life. Parking is street parking around the area. I love Urth Cafe and have been enjoying coffee and pastry items for years. I have only been to the Pasadena location a few times but decided to stop to grab a treat. I grabbed a couple bags of espresso beans and a slice of pumpkin pie to go. I was lucky enough to show up when there wasn't a line to order. Typically you get in line to order and then find a table if you are staying. Normally it is busy and at times can be hard to find a table so I tend to get items to go. The pumpkin pie was delicious, each bite was yummy. I will definitely be back. There are some gluten free items and some vegan items and on occasion both vegan and gluten free items. They do have everything marked so you will know. read more

Urth Caffe is always a cute spot to come to if you're feeling like having brunch or a variety of pastries I've been to urth quite a few times and to its other locations as well. This time around I got the breakfast burrito with an iced matcha. I shared the pumpkin pie with my partner and he got the French toast king! They are always very quick with their food and drinks! Today was a good day because there was a lot of seating. Usually the Pasadena location gets pretty packed and it's hard to find a spot to sit down. The staff is super kind and attentive. I used to love urth caffe but I feel like it definitely has gone down over the years. This location is always busy and this time I ordered a bunch of things to go. I got the wazuka match latte and they did say it was ceremonial but honestly didnt really taste like good quality matcha. It was just okay, paired it with vanilla and oat milk and it was pricy for the size ($10) Sunrise pizza has been my favorite here for years and while it still tastes pretty good I think thats really the only thing I like here now. The chili oil pairs so well with the pizza that contains fried pork, egg, cheese, and potatoes. I tried something new today which was the turkey burger with a salad and breakfast potatoes. The burger itself is a really large meaty patty but it's nothing special. It came with 1 piece of lettuce, 2 large tomato slices, and mustard. It just wasn't amazing and it was almost $40 for everything. Desserts were always good here and I have my favorites. The fruit tart tastes fresh and not too sweet. I tried their newest churro one and that one was pretty good too! Not dry or hard and tasted like they made it the same day. Everything came out to almost $100 and I thought it was pretty pricey. I was struggling to order food because nothing really sounded too enticing entree wise and there is just more places nowadays that serve better food for a better value. We came here on a Saturday night at about 6:30 PM. This location is gorgeous-there was ample seating outside and inside, and visually this is a stunning restaurant. Their menu has a lot of range-you could easily accommodate many different dietary preferences and cravings under one roof. The line was out the door, but moved fairly quickly despite that. I ordered the Greek salad with the pita bread to dine in, and had my food within 20 minutes of ordering. This salad was AMAZING-the butter lettuce, avocado, olives, onions and feta on this salad was perfect. This was fresh and very satisfying-this was the salad I did not know I needed until I had it. It was a perfect salad down to the serving size. The pita bread could have used more personality-maybe a spread or a hummus to add flavor to it. I ended up dipping it in my friend's sauce and it was good! I would definitely come back to eat here (and drink here in the morning-most of their beverages are coffee/tea). This is the 2nd time I've ordered the curry chicken sandwich from this location where it comes with barely any chicken! I picked this up in the pouring rain and took it to go. I was running in between work and appointments and decided to take a few bites in my car and once again found that there's barely 1-4 little tiny cubes of chicken in the CHICKEN sandwhich. It was allllll lettuce and tomatoes that were way past their date and tasted like garbage. I am so disappointed. Imagine I ordered the half sandwhich I would have had 2 bite size pieces of chicken and lettuce for lunch. I don't understand why there isn't a reasonable scoop of chicken salad on each half of the sandwich. Urth Cafe in Pasadena is my favorite go-to spot to sit back with a light meal and do some work. The food is not always consistent I will say. Somedays when you can tell they're short staffed, the foods got no love in it lol. Also, the line to order takes a very long time. I've timed it once and it took about 15 minutes to finally order with 3 people ahead of me. I always order the acai bowl and the kids chicken panini sandwich. Both have great portion. Both taste really good. It's the perfect combo. I've also had their pizza (at a different location) absolutely fantastic. Highly recommend the pizzas. 3/5 Stars because service and food quality is inconsistent. Overall as a local, I love the outdoors vibe and definitely a hang out spot. read more

Somewhat of a let down over our last experience. I used to love this place, but as it's gotten more popular, service times have gotten longer, and food quality has suffered a bit. Drinks came out after plates were cleared, and the eggs Benedict had to be sent back for being cold, and came out the second time with pomegranate on top. Beautiful ambiance and a great place to sit (which you'll be doing for a while) and watch Pasadena for a lazy morning though. read more

We spontaneously came to this establishment with my aunt. Haven't been since the pandemic. I ordered the salad nicoise. The food was fine but they didn't include the hard boiled egg. They told my husband in the beginning at payment that they ran out of eggs but I wasnt there--I was chasing my 5 year old. So when it came to our table I was disappointed. When I went to the front to ask about the missing egg they said they told it to my husband they ran out. But I couldn't believe we paid $25 for an incomplete salad. Then they said they can offer me more potatoes. Lol why do I want a carb substitute? I want a protein. My 70-something aunt was listening to all this back and forth and said this wasn't right and they should give us a substitute. This place is more about ambiance than good food. We had a salad that was barely dressed. Most dry lettuce leaves. And a sandwich so boring, I can make a better pb&j at home. I can't believe plain lettuce and half a chicken breast cost $15. I'm just so annoyed they didn't even stick a tomato or cucumber in it... sorry but it's not a salad. They should've just called it lettuce with chicken. The food here is very mediocre. It's not terrible, it's not great. They're popular because they have a little bit of something for everyone. Came for lunch a couple weeks ago to catch up with classmates. I had only been to the West Hollywood location, so I was excited to check out a different location. The Pasadena location is much bigger with lots of seating inside and out. Parking was little difficult. There was street parking along with a paid lot next door with the smallest parking spots. I ended up in a parking structure across the way. It was so hard choosing what to order because so many things sounded tasty but I opted for the huevos rancheros burrito and a strawberry banana smoothie. Both so so good and brought out within 10 mins. I definitely plan to return and try out more dishes, but mmm at wait until the finish construction next door. read more

A few of us walked over for mid-afternoon beverages. Those of us who ordered hot and iced teas received our beverages within a couple of minutes. The teas were good, but the one person who got boba said it was bland. Then we all stood around waiting for the one coffee that was ordered. The wait was just over 25 minutes! urth caffe used to be good, but they've really dropped off went there in the afternoon, no one was in line which was nice!. i ordered the green tea blended boba ($9 yikes) and it took them over 20 minutes to make...and i was waiting outside in 95 degree heat with my baby. once i got my order they didn't even put boba in my green tea blended BOBA. i just took it that way because i was running late--i take a sip, and it tastes bad...just awful. i ended up tossing the whole thing into the trash after one sip. i didn't have the time to ask for something else. so annoyed honestly. read more

I just recently discovered this caffé. I have never experienced anything like this. The staff was out of this world. They go above and beyond. The scenery was beautiful. My friends and I sat outside and enjoyed the birds chirping around us. What I ordered compared to my friends was a 10/10. I recommend the panini el diablo not so much the grilled cilantro chicken breast with pesto. Too much lettuce and bread for my liking. And also the drinks could use work. They could be sweeter but they do the job (just add your owner sweaters). The desserts come out first so you kinda get full but they are good. Would recommend the carrot cake and fruit tart though. read more

Parking: well, it's Pasadena, so what can you expect? That aside, the coffee shop was beautifully decorated and bustling with activity. It's the perfect spot to catch up with friends or enjoy a chat with your significant other. My husband ordered a drip coffee, while I went for a Spanish latte with an extra shot of espresso to kickstart my day. Their menu is extensive, offering plenty of options if you're hungry, along with a tempting selection of desserts. Just make note of the no parking signs in case there is street sweeping or any restrictions but I've done this several times now with no issues. The shop is relatively small but has a good amount of seating with maybe two tables outside. I've been at different times and only once has there been a line that has gone out the door. Still, it was a short wait (about 12-15 mins). The shop also sells merch like t-shirts and adorable mini tote bags. They also have unique chocolates from different countries of origin for sale. Prices of pastries are on the higher end but they are very high quality given the sourced ingredients and 3 day process. You can actually see them folding and extruding the croissant dough behind the glass if you come at the right time! They have seasonal offerings and an option to pre-order online as well. Overall: Amazing quality. Everything you would want and expect from laminated pastries. Will continue coming back!

That said, I can see how the flavor profile might not be for everyone, especially if you prefer a more traditional dark-roasted style coffee. The only downside is the parking. It's mostly street parking, and this place always seems to be busy, so finding a spot can be a bit difficult. Because of that, it's not always the easiest place for a quick coffee pickup. Still, the coffee itself is great, and this is one of the places I'd happily come back to.

There is limited street parking and a few free parking spots on the side of the restaurant (usually taken). Or you can use the paid lot next door down the alley. I parked at the lot and was supposedly validated by our server, but upon exiting I was still charged the full price of $1.50 for every 15 minutes!!! Not sure what happened there... Venue 3.5 stars: New, nicely decorated upscale facility with indoor and seating and a full bar. They do also have patio seating which I did not enjoy. The patio is these narrow strips on the front and side of the restaurant. The front side is literally on the sidewalk and the side patio is cramped and facing a bunch of parked cars. Not esthetically pleasing or comfortable. They do have heaters though which were helpful as it was a chilly evening. They take reservations on Resy which I would recommend as they get very busy. Service 4 stars: Friendly and polite. Food 4 stars: Modern Italian-inspired. We had the Hamachi Crudo and the Lamb Chops as appetizers. Lamb Chops were good. The Crudo was good but a very small portion. We also had the Scaloppine di Pollo, the Charred Scallop Risotto, the Branzino alla Griglia and the Pork Chop Milanese. The Scaloppine di Polo (Breaded chicken Cutlet) was the best. The Pork Chop was a little dry. The Branzino and the Risotto were good but had way too much butter for our taste. The star of the show was the Pistachio Tiramisu which was excellent. Overall a reasonable dining experience. Prices are on par with similar establishments. Drinks 5 stars: Creative specialty cocktails using unique Italian spirits, full bar, beer, wine, soft drinks and espresso drinks. Drinks are reasonably priced.

Before I begin id like to say, I love going to urth cafe and typically go to DTLA, but this time I chose to visit the one in Pasadena. BIG MISTAKE. I waited in the long like that is typical, but when arriving at the register was told they were not taking tap or inserting or swiping Rather, they were processing the order and WRITING DOWN your card information on a receipt. I hesitated but decided to put my trust in them. I gave them my card and they wrote down my in info. To my surprise they just put it in clear view of other customers facing up with my info and unattended. Meaning anyone could take a photo or swipe it. As I was done ordering I left my friends to go pick a table and upon my return their system was "fixed" and they were able to charge with card. I requested my card be charged and given back my receipt with my info written down. This was not the end however. As the server comes to drop off the food and drink, the server brought out the wrong drink. I checked my receipt and dismissed it as miscommunication between the cashier and I. I asked the server if there was anything I could do and they said to give them a second as they call a manager and walked away. I waited ten minutes and the manager nor the server came back. I had to ask another server and ask them to call a manager. This time the manager came out and she asked me what the issue was. She took my drink and my receipt and asked me if I'd like It exchanged. I said yes and she disappeared with my receipt and incorrect drink. I waited and finished my meal and waited even more for my drink to come out and it never did. 20 minutes since the manager had come to "correct" the mistake had passed and nothing was brought out. At this point, I was frustrated with the poor customer service and headed inside to ask the cashier that messed up my order for a manager. A different manager came out and I had to explain to him everything that occurred and asked for a refund as I was leaving. He told me to give him a second as he would go check on my drink. I overhear him asking the kitchen if it's been made and they reply back saying no and that they were never aware of a drink. The manager does not apologize and instead tells me he can make it and to give him a few minutes. I reiterate that I am leaving cannot wait a "few" minutes to get my drink and would rather get a refund. He keeps insisting disregarding the fact that I have to leave. He budgets and agrees to give me the refund only to come back and say that their system is "down" again. He asks me to write down my name and phone number to expect a call back later that day or by the end of the week. I have worked food industry before and I have a lot of patience, so it is very frustrating when they keep messing up again and again. At this point there's no excuse. I have NOT received a call back and it's been TWO WEEKS. Management here is quite honestly PATHETIC and I am not coming back. read more

Urth Cafe is overrated. After reading great reviews about it, I planned a date night with Urth Cafe being our last place to unwind and have coffee and desert. We went on a Sat night at about 845/9pm... There was a long line which was okay and expected on that time of night. We waited in line about 20 min, when we finally got to the pastry display area, an employee signaled us to order at the "to go" register. So to start it was hard to see pastries and we were walking back and forth which was a pain... Our order was a regular coffee, a latte, cheesecake and crumb cake... We got our coffee and cheesecake at time of order; got a number to place on our table to wait for latte and crumb cake... Their table system seems to be there just so they can say they have a system... it is so confusing. They tell us to go to the side to get seated and that someone would direct us; but to start, no one is there to seat anyone, there are tables empty and counter seats empty but you cant sit because if the employee who is guarding the entrance see's you, she will direct you to the side to wait to get seated. So confusing! We had them call the manager who is about 20 years old and seemed completely overwhelmed by their own table seating system. We waited for about 20 min and finally got the crumb cake but the the latte never came. The waiter who delivered the crumb didnt even know we had a drink on the order... The crumb cake was very dry, I give it a 1 out of 10. We left most of it there. I went back to cashier to ask for refund because my latte never arrived... All in all... bad experience. Employees seem confused as to the system, it seems disjointed and confusing. A recommendation would be to consider the placement of the to go cashier, the seating arrangement and the disbursement of drinks. I would not come back here again, it seems more of a trend that I'm sure will die off soon. read more

I usually don't gravitate toward popular cafés because, in my experience, they tend to be overhyped--great for coffee but disappointing when it comes to food. However, Urth Caffé completely changed my mind! I was hesitant at first, but after eating here, I can confidently say it's absolutely delicious and worth the visit. The atmosphere is great for groups, with plenty of seating options. They have a spacious outdoor dining area and two indoor dining areas, so even when it gets busy, you're not crammed in. The customer service was excellent--friendly staff, quick service, and they brought out our drinks almost immediately. We waited less than five minutes for our food, which was impressive given how packed the place was. Now, let's talk about the food! I ordered the sausage and potato omelet with a spicy sausage on the side, and it was full of flavor. My wife and I also shared a Nutella croissant, which was rich, flaky, and topped with hazelnuts--absolutely heavenly. My wife had a breakfast sandwich with jalapeños (a great balance of spice and flavor), my son got the chicken jalapeño pizza, and my daughter had the salmon bagel--everything was fresh and well-prepared. To top it off, I took home a fruit tart cake, and it did not disappoint. The prices were reasonable, the portions were just right, and the experience overall was fantastic. Thank you for coming to Pasadena!! Yummy yum yum! My family and I stopped by on Saturday and it was BUUUSSSSSSYYYYYY. But it was wonderful! There is a big lunch crowd here so expect to see a long line, but don't worry, it goes fast! We each decided to try something different. Spanish latte was recommended by the cashier, so we went for it. My mom has a beautiful French press tea- hot tea on a hot day- she's nuts I know- but it was super flavorful-AND organic! Thought our food would take a while by the sound of the reviews but our tummies were filled up fast. Maybe 25 minutes till the food came out- super fast for a place of this quality. We spent about an hour here- worth every moment. I decided to bring some friends on Sunday, since my first visit was so great. A bit busier, but expected on a Sunday near a bunch of churches. It was about a 35 min. wait for food and 15 for drinks, but totally worth it again. Had the Green Tea boba this time and a sprout sandwich. It seems to have gotten a bit busier then they were ready for, but the staff pulled it off great! I saw a lot of smiles. Dear Urth Caffe, Don't worry about those that are complaining about service and dogs. Your a new restaurant- you will learn. Perfection isn't reached over night. Since my last review I found out that they are rehating some of the food that was cooked in their central kitchen some where else probably night before. As this is the case I would not warrant buying their meals that has a heated Item because the price they are charging is equivalent to freshly cooked resturants at other places, and since they do not have to pay professional chefs at their resturant the owners are pulling in way more profit and not passing it to customers. Also rehating a previosly cooked food has less vitamins and nutrions so you would be wasting your money and just filling your stomac. Also not all their ingridents are Organic , it is hit and miss based on what produce they buy that week or if it exactly specified in the menu. Only ask the manager about and the ingrideint, regular employees have no clue. So my only recomendation to pick some of the organic drinks and if you are vegan enjoy their deserts, don't buy the meals from here, also ask wether the salads are organic from manager before buying them otherwise you be chewing pestisides and contibuting to your future cancer. 2 stars for reheating food and lack of knowledge of employees ( mostly cashiers) about the ingridients. read more

Urth Caffe, had a great time in Santa Monica Location. However the LAX Airport Terminal 1 new caffe is the slowest, most frustrating retail experience I have had in a while. They have what seems like 8 employees watching the line and one employee on the register even though there are several other Point of sale stations open at the counter. It takes 10-20 minutes to get a coffee, boba, or sandwich all of which I have ordered individually on different occasions. Most of the waiting time is for the employees behind the counter to talk to each other about their social media accounts and what they are going to do after work. I have come three times as I travel through every Sunday and it is the same experience every time even though the employees seem different. If you are the owner I would strongly suggest checking this out as it is not the level of service you provide at other locations and I am sure the profile and cost of your lease justifies fixing the problem. As an owner of my own retail business I would be furious to find out my employees at one location would be so far off the mark of our brand. I hope this comment can help. read more

This particular Urth Caffé is located on a street corner and is a great place to sip a latte and do some people-watching. The decor is pleasant with Spanish tiles on the ceiling, and a fountain in the back. They have great sandwiches, especially the chicken curry one. In general, prices are kind of expensive, but portions are pretty generous. My personal favorite item here is the delicious Mediterranean platter, which comes with hummus, tabouli, roasted peppers, artichokes, etc. It is quite a generous portion, and perfect for sharing. The hummus in particular is really good. The tostada here is also great, with the choice of having either chicken or roasted veggies. Unfortunately, many of their salads are disappointing. They are mostly comprised of a heaping of greens drizzled in a bit of oil. For dessert, I'd recommend their delicious pumpkin pie, which happens to be both vegan and gluten free. I've tried the earl gray tiramisu, and it was decent, but not something I'd get again. Drinks here are great, especially their lattes. The Japanese green tea latte is probably one of the best I've ever had. read more

In the spirit of Thanksgiving, I embarked on a pie-purchasing adventure that could rival any epic quest. Armed with a budget of $55 each, I acquired one pumpkin pies and one sweet potato pies from Urth Caffe. Little did I know, the pumpkin pie was priced as if it were a three-in-one deal from Marie Callendar--talk about inflation! Upon unboxing, I was greeted by pies that seemed to have been crafted by a committee of crusty critics. The crusts were so hard, they could probably double as a weapon in a medieval joust. And the flavor? Well, let's just say it was as subtle as a marching band. The pumpkin pie, in particular, had a taste that could only be described as "cardboard chic." It was so unappetizing, I considered using it as a doorstop instead. In hindsight, my decision to purchase these pies was a bit like inviting a turkey to a vegetarian potluck--awkward and unsatisfying. The $55 investment felt more like a donation to the "Pie of Disappointment" fund, and the cardboard taste has left a lasting impression on my palate--one that I hope to erase with a generous serving of mashed potatoes. read more

Matcha. Matcha. Matcha. MATCHA. I LOVE their matcha latte. The drink is called Japanese Tea Latte and apparently delivers a mega dose of antioxidants (supposedly when not mixed with dairy). I used to order the Spanish Latte with almond milk all the time, which I still love, but now matcha with almond milk is my thing. With an almond croissant. At 6:15am. Just before going hiking in the local mountains. FYI for matcha lovers: They offer a regular grade and a more expensive high grade matcha called Wazuka (name of the town in Japan where the tea comes from). Apparently the high grade Wazuka is best when ordering a shot of the tea (like an espresso shot) or non-latte drink. Apparently the regular grade is more appropriate for lattes taste-wise. I absolutely love Urth Caffe and I normally go to their downtown location but I was in the area and decided to go to their Pasadena location. Long story short, I was pretty disappointed in their customer service. I ordered my usual Panini Roasted Turkey and when my order finally came out, I didn't get the usual dipping sauce that the meal comes with. I asked one of the waiters walking around if they could bring me the dipping sauce, 10 minutes later, still no waiter. I then decided to walk up to the waiter standing by the pickup area to ask him for the sauce. He said "okay" and went into the kitchen. 10 minutes later, still no waiter. A lady then later approached me and asked if i needed anything. I told her that I had asked someone to bring me sauce but haven't received it yet. She goes into the kitchen, 5 minutes later she comes out to tell me that they ran out of the sauce. It took 25 minutes for someone to tell me that when it could have taken them 2 minutes. Very disappointed, I'll stick to the downtown location. read more

Urth Caffé might be a little bit overhyped, but it is still a pretty good café. We've come here on several different occasions, and found our experience slightly different each time. Their chicken curry sandwich is my go-to choice. I've also heard that the tuna salad sandwich is one of the best ones around. However, their salads are pretty disappointing, especially given the price. One thing I personally love is their Mediterranean platter, especially the hummus and tabouli! It is better than almost all the food at Mediterranean restaurants I've tried, and is enough for about 1.5 people. At about $14, it's a bit expensive though. I've also tried the mushroom and spinach quiche, which is pretty tasty and quite filling. For drinks, their lattes are a nice option, especially the green tea latte. In terms of desserts, we've tried an earl gray tiramisu once, and although good, it wasn't something I'd rave about. However, their gluten-free vegan pumpkin pie is quite delicious! read more

I recently visited Urth Caffe in Pasadena with my dad and we both had an absolutely wonderful experience! From the moment we walked in, we were impressed by the cozy and inviting atmosphere. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, making sure that every aspect of our visit was enjoyable. The highlight of our meal was definitely their omelettes. They were cooked to perfection, with fresh, flavorful ingredients that made each bite a delight. The presentation was beautiful, and you could really taste the quality in every mouthful.
