The Parma panini had good ingredients, when pressed, it felt like the ingredients were placed unevenly so each bite had me eating different things in the sandwich. Get something else besides the salad on the side or go somewhere else for a good sandwich in Pasadena. Maybe the pastries are a better bet. read more

We really enjoy coming here - especially for a late evening coffee or tea drink and dessert. I lost my sweet tooth years ago, but I couldn't resist the last tiramisu trying to escape its holding pen. I did my civic duty and freed the prisoner - thankfully it returned the favor by greeting me with delicious chocolaty goodness. The double Caffe Bebero paired well and we took the few remaining bites home to the kids to devour. I would suggest just coming for the desserts/pastries and drinks. I had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant in Pasadena (16, May). The cashier/server was extremely rude and disrespectful during my pickup order experience. What made the situation worse was the attitude. The employee became dismissive, stopped communicating, turned away while I was speaking, and treated me with obvious disrespect and indifference. It felt completely unprofessional and humiliating as a customer. Instead of resolving the situation professionally, the employee continued the confrontation and even followed me toward the exit, which made the experience feel intimidating and extremely uncomfortable. Situations like this damage the restaurant's reputation and push customers away. I strongly hope management reviews staff behavior and customer service standards because this level of treatment is unacceptable. read more

I was here just to pick up some dessert after dinner and the line was insanely long. I'm not sure why because the menu doesn't really appeal to me. Seems a little Cheesecake Factory-esque?? Pasadena has some amazing eats so I wouldn't choose dinner here personally, but it was packed so I might be the weird one! Anyway, I managed to pick up a cake and a pie after about 20 minutes in line. I was pleasantly surprised because the pastry case was almost sold out at around 8PM but they still had the fancier stuff available. I got a banana crème pie and a tres leches that I initially mistook for a key lime pie. They were both really good-- the tres leches was nice and soaked at the bottom somehow despite not sitting in liquid. They were $10 each I think, but they were super sizable so worth it IMO! read more

Came here again a few times, most recently had their chicken curry sandwich and their tostada with grilled chicken! Both were amazing! Especially that tostada! Lines went by quickly and service is always good when ordering. However I feel like sometimes they can care less about their service after ordering. There wasn't much seating at one point and we asked for someone to help clear out a table and they said they'll get to it but they never did until like 20 minutes later (we just moved most of it ourselves because we couldn't wait long after). Maybe they were busy, but it was still kind of unreasonably long. Get the Spanish latte granita (like a cold frappe, one size only) and quiche which varies by day (fave is mushroom spinach) and comes with a side salad with the lightest vinaigrette made with a juicy fruity olive oil. The menu is quite formidable-- there is something for everyone. The place is on a busy corner with both inside and outside seating in a Spanish style building with one side opening into a cute tiled terra cotta type quad. Lines can get really long-- order at the cashier and food will get delivered to you. I prefer takeout but also that process can take a bit of time. Worth it though! I want to be clear, this review is about a single experience. I have eaten at this location as well as Santa Monica and the Arts District. I'm a fan of Urth. But this experience was so bad I feel obligated to share. On Sunday, my wife and I came to the Pasadena location. It was busy, but no more than usual. There was a short line to order and plenty of tables. We ordered two salads and decided to sit in the dining room where the takeout counter is. Because it was away from the main dining area my wife checked with staff to make certain our order would come to us, she was assured it would. 25 minutes later, nothing not a word. So we asked about the order and were told it was ready and coming out. 10 minutes later, nothing! At this point I'd had enough and went to the counter for a refund. The person needed to get a manger. As it turned out the manager had been in the same dining area the entire time we waited. Yes, the whole 35 minutes. He credited my card, gave me a receipt and not so much as an apology. Nothing. It was if he could not be bothered with our dissatisfaction. I instantly understood why his crew seemed unconcerned with our needs. read more

I came here to get my mid-morning coffee fix. It seems like Spanish Latte Granita is one of the popular drinks here, so that's what I ordered. This time I didn't ask for any modification and the drink actually tasted pretty good and not too sweet. I ordered online for lunch pick up. This place is really busy during lunch but if you order online and go to the side door it's easy pick up. The online platform sent me a text when it was ready for pick up so it was great. I had the rooibos drink it was different the spice flavors were a little too much for me, but all the latte drinks and food look amazing. I also ordered the Diablo that was delicious it wasn't spicy or anything you can taste the jalapeño but since it's thinly sliced it's not overwhelming they also gave me a salad with my order which i wasn't expecting. I'm a big fan of Urth Caffé and have been to several locations, always having a great experience until I visited this one. Unfortunately, it was the most disappointing experience I've had at any Urth Caffé. When I came in yesterday, I ended up waiting over 30 minutes for my food, which is very unusual. I've been to other locations when they were completely packed, and even then, service was much faster. The real issue wasn't just the wait it was the food itself. Everything was served cold!! The mac & cheese wasn't even warm, and the bananas and strawberries on my dish were already turning brown. It felt like the food had been sitting out for a while before it made it to our table and surprisingly, the place wasn't even that busy. I genuinely love Urth Caffé, but this location just doesn't live up to the standard. Really hoping they can step it up, because right now, it's by far the worst experience I've had at any of their cafés. I unfortunately will not be back to this location. read more

Come here for your pastries and coffee! We came here on a Saturday afternoon and there was a long line to order, but they had a lot of registers open. When you are on the dine in side, it can get pretty loud, but on the to go side, it is more quiet. If you are in a rush, make sure to order ahead of time and just pick up instead. We ordered the banana cream pie, fruit tart, and the napoleon cake. All of the pastries were really good. We also got their spanish latte in the blended and regular form. The spanish latte has condensed milk in it, which balances the coffee really well. The parking lot outside also offers parking, which is great. read more

This isn't a troll post or anything fake- what happened sounds so absurd that you might think this review is a troll review. It is NOT. To start, my friend and I both ordered the Amazon Rainforest smoothie, both tasted fine but we both noticed there was some sort of white hard shards in the drink- it was bits of PLASTIC. We were skeptical at first and thought that it might be some sort of flake from a fruit but it really was hard plastic upon closer inspection. After showing the manager he offered to replace the drinks. Although I didn't consume any of the bits of plastic in the drink, my friend accidentally swallowed some of them thinking they were maybe coconut flakes or something else. Next was the New Yorker sandwich, which was a bright spot for the place as it was absolutely delicious and came with adequate meat. The ambience of the place was nice, as we sat in the back near the parking lot in the evening, it would've been very peaceful, but we noticed some sort of rodent/mouse/rat scampering around near a garden planter. I didn't manage to get a picture of it, but it isn't exactly what you want to see while eating a meal. Overall the main concern is the plastic in the drink, there was a LOT of hard plastic bits that I'm not really sure how they got in there, it's dangerous and just super gross. Wasn't offered a refund or anything either-- definitely don't recommend anyone to dine here. read more

I'm not sure when Urth Caffe became overhyped, but I'm always surprised at how many people come here because the food is good, but not so amazing that I'd wait in a 10 minute plus line for it. My most recent visit was a Sunday morning after visiting Vroman's. The line was only to the door when we arrived (which is not long at all) and we ordered an avocado toast, a kid's mac & cheese, grilled veggies, a "churro delight" pastry and a Matcha sunrise drink. Luckily we were able to find a table outside, but unfortunately it was near the door so we had a great view into seeing the line get longer and longer. My daughter thoroughly enjoyed the mac and cheese and grilled veggies while my husband and I shared the avocado toast, pastry and coffee. The bread used in the avocado toast was probably my favorite thing, it was seedy, fluffy and yeasty. Couple things to note: Parking is hit or miss in this area and trying to find a table is kind of chaotic sometimes. read more

I came here on June 3rd early afternoon. Beautiful space, but unfortunately this review is for management & the fact that staff is highly over charging customers. I've been to the DTLA location & a few others & this Pasadena location was the ONLY one that gave me this experience & issue. I ordered 2 x grilled cheese breakfast plates, a vanilla ice latte & substitute the side salad for breakfast potato's which at every other location comes out to $40-45 if I don't get the latte & including tip, All of the other locations have a substitution option with an increased price. I believe I've paid 3-4$ for this option however, at this location I was charged $11 EACH for two sides of potatoes AND charged for bacon as my protein choice, which was odd because I get a choice of protein for the grilled cheese so why would you charge me for that? They then said they don't do substitutions at their location, so the following day I went to another location and they told me all locations should be operating the same as far as pricing and menu items. I ended up paying at this Pasadena location $70 for two grilled cheese, two sides of potatoes CHARGED FOR MY OPTION OF PROTEIN that it should already come with, and a vanilla iced latte every location besides this one I have paid consistently $40 including tip maybe $45 I ended up disputing this charge with my bank because I felt like I was taking advantage of financially at this location, and the reason given was not sufficient in my opinion I will also be taking this to corporate to get a definitive answer, whether I'm being taken advantage of or they have the right to run their business as they choose with pricing. Not acceptable & will never return to this location again. Beware. Check your receipts, to see what and how they're charging you. read more

I really like Urth Caffe Parking is a challenge but do able. We came the most recent time when at a conference so we walked from the convention center. Love the extensive menu especially the many vegan options. Everything we have had has been great. I love the salads, sandwiches and pastries . Oh don't forget the smoothies !! I don't really understand why this spot is as popular as it is. My group tried a few of their breakfast items - the egg salmone, the belgian waffle and the granola bowl. While none of the items were bad, none of them were good either and certainly didn't live up to my expectations given the popularity of the place. Urth cafe in pasadena is a beautiful spot on the corner. We came for an after workout dinner. I ordered the Salmon plate which was OK - a deconstructed bagel that you can create your own. For the price, could maybe have a little more. My friend ordered grilled cheese chicken but had no chicken, let them know but they were some miscommunication that he would need to buy another. It ended up getting sorted out but by the time his new sandwich came out (because they forgot to make it again initially), we were already done eating.
