Came here again a few times, most recently had their chicken curry sandwich and their tostada with grilled chicken! Both were amazing! Especially that tostada! Lines went by quickly and service is always good when ordering. However I feel like sometimes they can care less about their service after ordering. There wasn't much seating at one point and we asked for someone to help clear out a table and they said they'll get to it but they never did until like 20 minutes later (we just moved most of it ourselves because we couldn't wait long after). Maybe they were busy, but it was still kind of unreasonably long. I visited Urth Caffé and noticed that it's always very crowded and popular. The place has a nice atmosphere and many people seem to enjoy it. However, I tried the cappuccino and was a little disappointed. For me, it didn't really taste like strong coffee -- it felt too light and milky. I was expecting a richer coffee flavor. read more

Get the Spanish latte granita (like a cold frappe, one size only) and quiche which varies by day (fave is mushroom spinach) and comes with a side salad with the lightest vinaigrette made with a juicy fruity olive oil. The menu is quite formidable-- there is something for everyone. The place is on a busy corner with both inside and outside seating in a Spanish style building with one side opening into a cute tiled terra cotta type quad. Lines can get really long-- order at the cashier and food will get delivered to you. I prefer takeout but also that process can take a bit of time. Worth it though! I came here to get my mid-morning coffee fix. It seems like Spanish Latte Granita is one of the popular drinks here, so that's what I ordered. This time I didn't ask for any modification and the drink actually tasted pretty good and not too sweet. The online platform sent me a text when it was ready for pick up so it was great. I had the rooibos drink it was different the spice flavors were a little too much for me, but all the latte drinks and food look amazing. I also ordered the Diablo that was delicious it wasn't spicy or anything you can taste the jalapeño but since it's thinly sliced it's not overwhelming they also gave me a salad with my order which i wasn't expecting. Service is terrible and food is cheap. When I ordered, the cashier expected me to carry 2 coffee mugs on plates, 1 pastry on another plate, the table number, and a bag full of pastries to my table. No tray and no help. Then, for coffee, my mom and I had to walk back to the front of the cafe to get basic creamer and sugar. By the time we walked back to our table the coffees were cold. Much better service and coffee at a Denny's. Then when our omelets arrived, they were cold and the shredded cheese on top wasn't even fully melted. I'm a big fan of Urth Caffé and have been to several locations, always having a great experience until I visited this one. Unfortunately, it was the most disappointing experience I've had at any Urth Caffé. When I came in yesterday, I ended up waiting over 30 minutes for my food, which is very unusual. I've been to other locations when they were completely packed, and even then, service was much faster. The real issue wasn't just the wait it was the food itself. Everything was served cold!! The mac & cheese wasn't even warm, and the bananas and strawberries on my dish were already turning brown. It felt like the food had been sitting out for a while before it made it to our table and surprisingly, the place wasn't even that busy. I genuinely love Urth Caffé, but this location just doesn't live up to the standard. Come here for your pastries and coffee! We came here on a Saturday afternoon and there was a long line to order, but they had a lot of registers open. When you are on the dine in side, it can get pretty loud, but on the to go side, it is more quiet. If you are in a rush, make sure to order ahead of time and just pick up instead. We ordered the banana cream pie, fruit tart, and the napoleon cake. All of the pastries were really good. We also got their spanish latte in the blended and regular form. I'm not sure when Urth Caffe became overhyped, but I'm always surprised at how many people come here because the food is good, but not so amazing that I'd wait in a 10 minute plus line for it. My most recent visit was a Sunday morning after visiting Vroman's. The line was only to the door when we arrived (which is not long at all) and we ordered an avocado toast, a kid's mac & cheese, grilled veggies, a "churro delight" pastry and a Matcha sunrise drink. Luckily we were able to find a table outside, but unfortunately it was near the door so we had a great view into seeing the line get longer and longer. My daughter thoroughly enjoyed the mac and cheese and grilled veggies while my husband and I shared the avocado toast, pastry and coffee. The bread used in the avocado toast was probably my favorite thing, it was seedy, fluffy and yeasty. Urth cafe in pasadena is a beautiful spot on the corner. We came for an after workout dinner. I ordered the Salmon plate which was OK - a deconstructed bagel that you can create your own. For the price, could maybe have a little more. My friend ordered grilled cheese chicken but had no chicken, let them know but they were some miscommunication that he would need to buy another. It ended up getting sorted out but by the time his new sandwich came out (because they forgot to make it again initially), we were already done eating. While none of the items were bad, none of them were good either and certainly didn't live up to my expectations given the popularity of the place. This is a great health-conscious, earth-conscious, feel-good-about-yourself kind of café. They have tons of options--food, drinks, coffee, pastries, cookies, and smoothies. There's cute outdoor café seating and plenty of indoor seating too. The whole place smelled amazing when I walked in. Recently on my visit to Urth Caffé I decided to try something new so I went with their turkey burger and it was amazing. The turkey burger was on a fresh baked artisan bread and the turkey meat was very juicy and flavorful. It's hard to find a good turkey burger, but this one meets the mark. It came with a side salad and I also got a chamomile tea with some honey and lemon on the side and it was very cozy and had incredible flavors as well. Plan for a line but it's when you should look at the menu to decide what you want. Staff was courteous when placing the order. Despite how busy it was it was quite fast to receive our orders. I went with the Eggs Verde. Soft boiled egg with a salad and toast. It was perfect for what I wanted. My star knock was finding a hair when I almost finished! . The last 3 visits were disappointing. The food I ordered on those 3 different occasions included a salad. All three times, the greens were 1/2 wilted and mushy. Their salads used to be so fresh. I know it wasn't a one time thing because it happened 3 consecutive times in the last 2 months. The prices went up (which I understand) but the quality went down. My friend and I spilt a Grilled Cilantro Chicken Breast with Pesto Entree Salad and a Blueberry Cheescake. The salad itself was good. The chicken wasn't dry and the salad dressing was tasty. The pesto was okay too, but I wish there was a stronger flavor since it tasted a bit bland. I also wish the portion sizes of the salad and chicken were bigger. The bread that came with it was a bit tough. I would've liked it if it was crispy, warm, and soft. The cheesecake was great though. Soft, tasty, and not too sweet. The berries complimented it well. I got their famous Spanish latte and shared eggs benedict canyon w/ smoked salmon, Italian omelette, and wild mushroom pizza with 2 of my friends. I got their Spanish latte which is one of their most popular drinks and their sizes are huge! I got a small and their small is basically like a medium at other coffee places. They use big cups for their drinks which in my opinion makes it worth it. I also got mild so the coffee wasn't too strong but I really like it since I'm not a huge fan of coffee. It had a hint of sweetness but also not too sweet. The eggs benedict canyon had a good amount of smoked salmon and I liked how there were pomegranate seeds as the topping which had a nice acidity to it. The wild mushroom pizza was good as well and came with some sauces and grated cheese. The Italian omelette was my least favorite but it wasn't bad or anything. The omelette has a good amount of filling such a tomatoes, sausages, and cheese. We chose fruits as the side for the omelette but the fruits weren't in season anymore so it wasn't really sweet or ripe. Because of that, I deducted a star from the rating.
