Located in Playhouse Village is Urth Caffe. On a busy weekend, it is still a lovely place to be. I ordered the vegan panini, vegan pumpkin pie, and the Urth energizer. They offer gluten free bread for the panini, but was sold out for the day. The pumpkin pie crust was gluten free and delicious. The Urth energizer had beets, pineapple, and ginger. You can taste the urth, I mean earth. Customer service was lovely, even on a busy weekend. The restrooms were clean and tidy. Over the years I've grown to love restaurants with shaded outdoor seating. The noise was a little loud from the busy street and the background music also. If you're in the area it is a nice place to visit; it is also close to the Pasadena playhouse, gyms, and other health conscious restaurants. Looking for a nice place for a spot of lunch? Looks like you've found it! "A recipe is a story that ends with a good meal"

I recently visited Urth Caffé for dinner and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The restaurant was quite busy, and there was a line to order, but it moved fairly quickly. The restaurant offered indoor and patio dining options. However. It was seat yourself so we had to find our own table. I ordered the Vegan Portabella Panini, which featured grilled portabella mushrooms, roasted peppers, wild arugula, grilled artichokes, and a pesto-almond cheese spread. The sandwich had the perfect panini crunch and was packed with flavor. I especially appreciated the fresh, healthy balance of ingredients and it was satisfying without feeling heavy. The panini was served with a side salad that was equally fresh and tasty, making for a well rounded meal. Overall, a delicious and enjoyable dining experience, and I would definitely order it again.

Blended Green Tea Boba - $8.75 a year ago to $10.50 now. Crazy inflation

Urth Caffe Pasadena is a classic. Good location, parking lot nearby that you have to pay for and street parking is all paid. The vibes are great here and there are lots of seating. I enjoy the sunrise pizza but my favorite drink by far is the Blended Green Tea Boba. I came recently on a Sunday around 4pm and ordered a blended green tea boba to go. My order took 15 minutes to get. What surprised me the most is that the drink is now a whopping $10.50 and it used to be $8.75 a year ago. Not only has the price increased by 20% but the drink has also gotten smaller. The flavor is still consistent from what it used to be but $10.50 for this drink is insane. I'd rather just get a real matcha drink from a legit coffee/matcha spot.

I absolutely love coming here. I feel lucky when the lines short. As I waited in line I browsed their loose tea and grabbed a jar of Moroccan mint. I love that you can see desserts while you wait to order. My favorite is napoleon cake. This time I ordered: Eggs verde The mushroom omelette Iced Spanish latte Coffee of the day Food is consistent and the vibes always there. Portion is huge for me and you can always get a box for to go afterward.

My friend wanted a sweet treat after lunch and this was across the street so we decided to give it a try. We got a brownie, Thai tea blended boba, and cafe mocha. All the items came out a different time and we waited 20 minutes for all the items to arrive. The cashier I ordered from was rude and the service was slow. Seating inside the cafe was small and cramped but there are also table outside. The brownie (1.5/5) was very sweet so we were unable to finish it. The Thai tea blended boba (1/5) was watered down and did not taste like Thai tea. The ice mocha (2/5) was ok but nothing special. I would not come back again.

If you're planning on dining in on a weekend, be prepared for a bit of a wait. Thankfully, they had two cashiers working to help move the line along. I also liked that they offer both indoor and outdoor seating options. After ordering, they give you a table number and bring the food directly to you. Amazon Smoothie: $10.99. Definitely on the pricier side, but the portion was generous and served in a tall glass filled to the top. I really enjoyed this since it tasted similar to an acai bowl without the icy texture. It was also topped with small mango bits, which was a nice touch. Sunrise Pizza: Unfortunately, this didn't live up to my expectations. The crust was pretty hard, and overall the pizza tasted a bit bland. I appreciate their focus on organic and locally sourced ingredients, and the space itself was nice, but the higher prices, long wait time, and underwhelming food would probably keep me from returning.

This salad was not up to par. Please photo of onion chunks that had to be picked out of the salad. They were the size of chiclets gum. Not very well executed. Service was also average. Cashiers not friendly. The person that brought the food was delightful and warm. This salad needs to be redesigned with smaller onion pieces. Or call it onion cucumber salad. It had no taste. This place is over priced and way over hyped. Best think was the iced latte that you can get anywhere.

Had this cafe in my list for a long time and I was able to take my wife here on Valentines Day. We arrived around 10 AM and there was already a line outside the cafe. This cafe is a order then find a seat type cafe and to be honest, I kind of like it. We waited around 30 minutes before it was our turn to place our order. The vibe here is quite nice as well, outdoor seating is spacious and all around, while inside is a bit cramped seating wise. The ceiling is quite tall so occasionally, you'll find yourself looking up to see the decorations, quite the brunch vibe overall. Parking here is a bit non existent? You either park on the street or you find a paid parking lot, pretty standard around Pasadena. The menu here is extensive, which ironically is good in a way that the line is long...sorta. However, my wife and I already decided beforehand what we wanted to order. --WHAT WE ORDERED-- -- Prosciutto & Cheese Breakfast Panini -- ($14.95) One of their featured menu items, this panini is one of the most decorated around. The presentation is spectacular, making it a amazing dish for a perfect picture. Onto the dish itself, it's quite flavorful. Usually with panini, everything falls apart if not made well, but this one is quite steady. Each bite was delicious in its own way, and not one bite left out any flavor from the ingredients inside, very well balanced. It's filled with eggs, peppers, mozzarella cheese, and some prosciutto di parma which is Italian ham, very well made, and highly recommend. -- The Italian Omelet -- ($17.50) I'm a sucker for omelet dishes and this is no different. I find myself with another amazingly presented dish, although it's just a omelet, this one is filled with chicken basil sausages which is different from your usual taste of sausages. Combined with roasted peppers, tomatoes, fresh basil and some mozzarella cheese, it was quite the taste. You have the spikey flavor of the chicken sausages as well as the melting taste of the eggs, it was amazing. I would get this dish again the next time I visit because it was so delicious. 10/10 -- Famous Pecan Sticky Bun -- ($6.50) Well, I'd be amazed but this dessert dish is one I would call, ADDICTING. Sweet, sticky, crunchy, and texture is great. Although it's a sweet dish, it's not too overwhelming and sweet. I believe the pecan balances the taste very well to not make it entirely too sweet. A perfect sweet chewy treat after your main entrees. 9/10 Overall, a wonderful brunch spot, although it's quite busy more often then not, the vibes are great especially on a day where it's not too cold nor too hot. Service here isn't really anything special since they don't check on you for anything. It's more of a cafe where people just hangout, eat, and even see some people on their laptops here. However, staff here is quite fast as they walk around looking for number stands to provide you with your order if you decide to dine in. Definitely will be back again to try other menu items as their menu is extensively big.

A really great spot to visit in Pasadena! It's always bustling every time I visit and the decor is very warm and welcoming. I usually order a drink and sandwich as my go-to, but decided to try a pizza this time. Their drinks always hit the spot, albeit on the pricier side. I really do enjoy most of their sandwich options too. This pizza in specific was good, although it was missing a slight pop of flavor for my own liking, I think I would've preferred a bit of tomato sauce at the bottom but maybe that would override the flavor of the salmon. Overall a really great spot though! I will definitely be visiting again.

Urth is a true Pasadena staple with beautiful architecture that makes for a great atmosphere. The menu is incredibly abundant and you really get your money's worth with their generous portions and fair prices. I tried the Spanish latte, which was good, though I personally think it could have been a bit stronger. For food, the Eggs Salmone is a must. It's just yummy, especially with those perfect runny yolks. While it definitely gets busy on the weekends, the line moves quickly so you aren't waiting forever. Plus having plenty of parking in the back makes the whole experience way less stressful. It's a solid go-to spot :)

First time visiting and I can see why it's so popular! They have just about every breakfast, brunch and lunch food items your heart desires! It was so hard choosing but we sat down with the Vegan Portobello Panini and Chicken Ciabatta Sandwich, both so yummy! The service was fast considering the long line, but they served the food fast. The ambiance was an absolute delight! They had PLENTY of tables throughout the restaurant. Inside, outside in their adorable patio and toward the back. It would be impossible to not get an available table. One thing too, if you have a sweet tooth this is the place! They have amazing looking muffins, cakes and shakes!

I ordered a chicken panini and expected it to have more ingredients, but it was pretty basic. It did come with a small side of fruit, which was a nice touch. The parking in that area is difficult -- it says you have to pay for 3 hours, but I didn't pay since I was only there for a quick pickup and didn't have time to register the car. The pickup area is located all the way in the back in a separate room, which makes it a little inconvenient for a fast pickup.

    Huevos rancheros pizza was mediocre

I feel so bummed to have to update my previous good review to a bad one since this has been one of my favorite brunch spots for many years. I ordered UberEats and it took an hour to arrive (which wasn't a big deal since it's raining). I ordered a Strawberry Matcha ($9.89) and it was the and most disappointing and expensive strawberry matcha I've ever had. There was zero matcha flavor and it literally tasted like a strawberry jam drink. Definitely don't recommend! The Huevos Rancheros Pizza ($19.29) was very dry and cold. I requested the eggs to be poached and I received a well done hard boiled egg. I've ordered this plenty of times (take-out and at the restaurant) and I've never had this happen before. The quality has definitely gone downhill and they obviously didn't follow my instructions. Overall, I was extremely disappointed in my drink and my pizza so I most likely won't return or recommend unfortunately.

    Yes. Plenty of them.

I ordered an unsweetened almond milk cappuccino yesterday with no problem... and this morning when ordering I was told you did have an unsweetened base. Which is correct? 🙏

Okay, now the coffee, which is what my rating is based on. The latte was a small step up from Starbucks and had an odd taste that I couldn't quite place. My wife couldn't finish hers. The drip coffee was barely above lukewarm and just didn't taste good. Again, it was hard to put my finger on exactly what was wrong with it, but it didn't taste particularly fresh. I noticed the bag of beans on the counter was roasted on 6/30 and marked down on clearance. Anyway, it's probably a perfectly fine place if you're not obsessed with excellent black coffee or high-quality espresso drinks. The space is large, there's lots of outdoor seating, and the staff is nice. I just wish I'd known going in that the coffee wasn't very good, so I'm writing this review for the other people out there who are equally insufferable about their coffee.

Love the packaging that it comes in!!!! The musubiyaki was served hot, and was very fulfilling indeed! Their chiffon cakes are worth a try as well!!!! The mangomisu, a seasonal item, was great!!!! Big pieces of mango, light mascarpone filling, and spongy cake made this dessert so worthwhile! I also got the sunny side up and strawberry shortcake!!!! I really wanted to try all so for sure I will be back. Next time, I'm passing on the matcha drinks. Tried the matcha latte with mango and the banana matcha, both of which I found to be lackluster.

We should have allowed that to be our indiscretion for the day. But nooooo. Mr. B can smell sinfully yummy calories, even with a bag over his head, a mile away. Their specialty... chocolate croissants. Thus, we let Artisanal Goods lure us in. No parking, way too busy, way too full to seat us, a line bursting out the door, the tiny bakery cafe still seduced us. That is, Mr B circled the block in the car but pushed me out to get in line. It was the idea of a flaky, buttery, chocolate croissant crumbling all over his shirt that made him do it. And I had no intention of saying no. The line went quickly. The last Kouign Amann had just escaped my clutches to the guy in front of me, darn it. But there were still trays upon trays of freshly baked, massive chocolate croissants displayed in their custom, wood display case right next to the register. Sorry about no pictures, but you know how things get out of hand sometimes. However if you want to experience an orgasm in pastry form, I suggest you high tail it here.

The staff was very nice and we ordered the classics. - Croissant : was fresh, flaky and a good size. The only small issue: 20% of it goes on the table as it literally crumbles at each bite. A good croissant should have some elasticity lacking here. - Pain au chocolat: quite large with maybe too much chocolate. But the flavor was on point. I liked it but my wife thought the extra chocolate was too much of the good thing. She reminded me that in the pain au chocolat in France, you actually feel the chocolate under the tooth at each bite. Between the two, I would get the plain croissant next time. Final thoughts: These pastries are more expensive than in other places( pain au chocolat for almost $7 and croissant for $5.5). Would I come back: yes to get the plain croissant.

I just finished a hike in Altadena, found Callisto on Yelp, and wandered in looking for a quiet post-trail moment. Instead, I was met with such a genuine warmth that made me feel like a guest instead of a transaction. The owner herself took my afternoon in a much softer direction. I ordered the afternoon tea service and fell into my book. This is the kind of place that invites you to read, write, and decompress. My tea of choice: Yellow Brick Road with osmanthus flowers blended with Darjeeling black tea. It tasted like sweet blossoms dipped in honey. The service also comes with three mini savory toasts, a scone with mascarpone cream and marmalade, and dessert. I chose the chocolate peanut butter cupcake which sent me into a blissful chocolate haze for the rest of the day. If you crave quiet, delicious, almost healing moments, you need to come here. Wendy, thank you for taking such good care of me and inspiring me to chill out for the rest of the afternoon.

We ended up at Magnolia House for a late lunch/early dinner. They also serve breakfast/brunch only on weekends. Walked in around 4:30pm and we were greeted by Brian, one of the managers. Brian was the standout star of the whole experience! His energy was exceptional and he is such a great conversationalist. He checked on us several times throughout our meal and made sure we were doing well. He on his own was HANDS DOWN a five star human being. At first, he wanted to seat us in the back corner but I told him the table was too small and he accommodated us with a bigger table. Our server Kiana came up to the table with a pleasant smile and greeting to take our drink orders. I got a glass of cranberry juice along with some water. My son got the American Dream cocktail along with some water. We skipped on dessert. From 4-6pm, they have a happy hour menu with some of their cocktails and shareable plates. The portions are just a bit smaller and the prices are a little lower. It's a good way to sample different items. I think we got a good variety of food to enjoy. To start, we got the Little Gem Salad. It was such a unique combination of flavors and SUPER delicate/light. My son and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The next starter was the Zucchini and Feta Fritters, which was good but not the best out of everything else we ordered. The zucchini was a bit mushy but the batter it was fried in was crispy. Another starter we shared were the Moroccan Spiced Chicken Wings. These wings are gigantic and very flavorful. They definitely pack some heat, so be careful. I don't think the A/C was NOT working to begin with, so the place was already hot. The wings made us sweat even more. For entrées, we got the burger and the pork belly. Brian said they are known for their burger and after taking the first bite, it's clear as to why. It was absolutely PERFRCTION. So delicious! The bun, the meat, the cheese, the onions, and the crispy bacon...all of it mixed together into the perfect burger. I had wanted to add some mushrooms and avocado to it, but Kiana said they were unable to do it. I also asked for lettuce and she said that would be an extra charge. What extra charge for lettuce? We still got charged for avocado when the bill came, but they took it off once we mentioned it. The pork belly was also very tender, flavorful, and crispy. It's just hard to compete with the burger! We also got an order of the Belgian Fries to share and we were both pleasantly surprised at how good they were. The fries are salty and cut pretty thick. The sauce that came on the side was so yummy. We asked for a small extra cup to-go. All in all, the food was great and we liked everything. The vibe of the restaurant wasn't really all that for me. Brian genuinely made up for anything that was lacking in the atmosphere. He is such a wonderful asset to the restaurant and their company. The restaurant itself has been here for about 15 years now and it used to be a very old house. You can tell when you look around. They did a good job with the renovations, but you can see the different areas/rooms. I think they tried to keep the casual comfort of a home, while making it a slightly elevated experience. It was very clean everywhere, especially the bathrooms. They have one gender neutral bathroom, one for men, and one for women. No private parking, so you'll have to park on the street and put money in the kiosk. They also had an outdoor seating. Pretty BIG, only took picture of one side. They also have 2 small TVs. In the bar area and inside their cute lounge. I normally like to try new places, especially when I'm in Pasadena, so I'm not sure if I'll come back here. Maybe if Brian is working, it would definitely be worth stopping by again! Thank you all..

Service is really really slow. You may see 5 or 6 waiters on staff...but they aren't stopping at tables to check up on guests. Alot of them are just hanging around the bar or front desk chitchatting with friends. The food quality dropped tremendously. It tastes like bland bar food now. $19 for 2 meatballs laying in tomato paste....and they were not even room temperature. Felt like they had these already prepared and sitting somewhere, just waiting for the next guest to order them. Got a mojito that may have been mistaken for a "virgin" drink....cause no one at our table could taste any alcohol in it. They all said it was watered down mint with ice. I wish this place would go back 10 years and make it like "the spot you want to go to"....versus the spot you now avoid.
