My boyfriend and I tried to have dinner here (on a whim) yesterday night. We looked at the menu outside after a walk, and decided to give it a try. We were seated in the dining room, and ordered our food rather quickly. They gave us two glasses of water, and I ordered a soda. I began drinking my soda, and my boyfriend noticed that there was debris inside of our water glasses, so we did not continue to drink from them. They gave us bread for the table, which was stale as could be. We then kept seeing fruit or bar flies-- it was genuinely horrifying. They were flying around, as well as clinging to the walls. I called someone over to see how far along or food was... because by this point, we no longer wanted to eat here. Unfortunately, the next time we saw the gentleman I called over, he brought out our food. So we reluctantly began to try the food. We got a salad, yellow rice and a 16oz filet (medium cooked) with "grated" mashed potatoes. The salad was delicious, the rice was ok-- the potatoes were semi mashed, with cubes of potatoes mixed in a white sauce? Not grated, as advertised in the menu. I did not try them. After a few minutes of rest of the table, we cut into the steak. It was evident just by grazing the knife along the body of the piece of meat, that it was extremely raw inside. Once we finally got into it, we saw just how rare it was. It was not edible. We stopped eating, and told our waiter that the steak was not edible, and that we would like the check. He was apologetic and was did not charge us for that portion of the meal. We realize that sometime mistakes are made and people are human. But, the vibes were off from the jump. Have been going here for years, this past time we went and off the bat the place was empty and lifeless, opposed to being jammed like usual (Thursday night but still should not have just 2-3 other tables). If you want great steaks - or meat in general - this is a perfect place to go. I first visited Sur with family 10 years ago, and enjoyed it, though I don't recall much other than good meat and my daughter enjoying some tableside flambé for dessert. No idea why it took us a decade to go back, but I wish we had done so sooner. My son got us a gift cert for Xmas, so last night we had a date night at Sur before the snowstorm. It was a magnificent meal from start to finish, beginning with the super-friendly and professional service, bread and butter, and drinks. The Malbec was excellent. Our shared app of camarones al ajillo made my wife ooh and aah, it was super flavorful, as garlicky as we hoped, and the shrimps were generous. For our mains, I chose the marvelous plate of perfect skirt steak, which was cooked perfectly medium rare, with au poivre sauce and killer french fries . My steak was so big I could only eat half (and I;m a big eater). The wife chose filet mignon, also with poivre, as her main, and loved it. We shared a terrific bowl of spinach baked with parmesan on the side. I loved how the spinach was crispy rather than soggy. Dessert was a nice shared flan and an espresso macchiato for me. Although the food here is excellent I have to take 2 stars off for deception. 1. There are no prices listed on the drinks menu or on the dessert menu, none of which turned out to be cheap by any means. Of course, in many situations, most would be too embarrassed to ask. 2. There are no signs anywhere letting customers know that 20% gratuity is included to the bill no matter how small or large the party is (it was just 2 of us). That is illegal. A restaurant has to have clear signs indicating the charge. 3. Ordered the grilled meats for 2 and asked if sweetbreads can be added to the platter. I was told - absolutely. Instead we were given a whole extra entree of sweetbreads and charged accordingly. One other unpleasant situation was with the appetizers. We ordered the appitezer sampler which is huge. After about 15 minutes of enjoying it a waiter ran up and with the words: "Do you want this to go?? THE FOOD IS COMING! THE FOOD IS COMING!!" Beef empanada was very dry, pasta bolognese was special ordered with no cream - the waiter couldn't say whether it contained cream, and came out with crumbled chopped meat over fettuccini, no sauce, just grease from the meat on the bottom - should have sent it back but didn't want to embarrass our friend who recommended the restaurant. Dessert was flan that was overcooked, grainy and not smooth, with a garnish of dolce de leche. Friend had flounder in lemon sauce and it was lovely with a ring of mussels. Came here for a last minute date night. The decor is a bit outdated but the food was pretty good and the staff was very friendly. My date and I split a pitcher of sangria and the parrillada del sur platter which had a variety of meats. The steak and sausage were really good, the lamb was a bit fatty and chewy. 2/14/26 Valentine's Day i had a reservation it was pretty busy but seemed to have well over 6 waiters. I was at the front for 15 minutes before someone acknowledges that me and my partner were there. I get sat down and wait 10 mins before I get to put in my drink order. I then wait 15 min to nothing I had to get up and ask another waiter if he can bring me my drink ( gingerale) I proceeded to wait to get my order taken. after 20 mins of waiting I get to order. already exhausted from all the waiting. I decided to stay to see what the hype about the food was, absolutely not worth it. steaks were asked to cooked at medium and brought well Done. no flavor what's so ever, rice was cold. mash was something from a quick mix mash. even after all not once did my waiter come to check up. I had to get up after 25 min to ask for the check. this was the worst exprience at a restaurant, If you want to have a better time go to applebees it's by far better service. read more

Their mashed potatoes taste like instant Their Surf and turf dish was nothing to brag about. The tenderloin had no flavor. It was order medium well and was still tough. The shrimp had no flavor at all and weren't cooked enough. Very very bland. The only thing that had flavor was the dipping oil for the bread, which i used to pour on the food. The crab cake wasn't great either. It tasted like it was refried. This is my 2nd visit and only because I had a gift card for them. I was hoping that it would have changed but it was just more of the same. Also the Piña colada was more like a virgin colada and the menu did not list the price which was $16. This place is great for meat lovers and the parrillada is big enough for 4 people especially with some side dishes or appetizers added on. The meats were nicely grilled from what I tasted. We have celebrsted birthdsys and anniversaries here for many years however this Saturdsy night. The wait staff was awful. Brought out 5 appetizers of 8 and one was a salad. The steaks were either under cooked or over cooked no consistency. Very disappointing. When the check came it was wrong 2x had to be fixed. When we left I wanted to speak w the owner he had left early. When I called the next day he wasnt in the restaurant. We wont be going back anytime soon. read more

Just everything was great here! The apps were delicious, we had the fried calamari, and the mozzarella with tomato in a pesto sauce which were delicious! We had their main meat dish with all the meats! Also delicious and the lamp chops and Filet of sole were great! We hade five different desserts and they were all amazing! Some things to love and not like about this place. It feels old school with its décor and tablecloths, but then gives you utensils in paper napkins. Bread was heated up but was already somewhat stale. Staff was very nice and the appetizer was quite good. Our main dish was a mixed grill platter that was majority shell steak and the rest was the good stuff (sausage, lamb chop, skirt steak, medallion). If I knew how much of the platter was going to be the cheap stuff, I probably would have ordered the select cuts. The skirt steak was cooked super well done (we ordered medium rare) and was tough and chewy. Coffee and lattes were exceptionally good but the dessert was sent back. The tiramisu (we were told was only made the day prior) was sour to the taste. But even in the fridge, it can go bad in 2-3 days. Overall an ok experience. But given the tough competition nearby, I hope they can step up their game. read more

Had the Parrillada Del Sur- Mixed Grill Platter for 2 which was more than enough for at least 3 ppl. It included Rib Eye, Shell steak, Filet Mignon, skirt steak, rack of lamb and last but NOT least, Argentinian Sausage! The quality, cuts, taste and texture of the Meats were superb and the portions were huge! This was my 1st time having Argentinian style sausage and I really enjoyed it! It was sooo delicious! The Pitcher of House Sangria was banging and gave me a nice lil buzz that was def needed! It wasn't lacking in Brandy or wine! I was also served a complimentary DELICIOUS Argentinian style house salad because my waiter overheard me saying that I should've gotten a salad as well. He is awesome, i should've gotten his name!
