Decent Cleaning but hidden fees Had it done yesterday- they have a coupon for ($60 for 4 areas)- I needed my stairs done most of all (which counts as one room) and then chose 3 other areas which needed a little help. When I first called, the woman who answered the phone was very pleasant and professional. She offered me an appt. the very next day with a 3 hour window. She told me that there was a "trip fee" of $10 to drive to Carlsbad- I said ok (I mean do I really want to argue over $10?) When the technicial arrived- right at the end of the window- very nice- he told me that he needed to "pre-treat" my stairs which meant he uses a stronger set of cleaner and it costs an extra $10. I didn't think it really needed it since there were no stains, just light traffic marks, but I said ok (again, who am I to argue over $10?) He cleaned the 4 areas very quickly once he was set up-- about 35 minutes. Overall, the carpet looked clean. My only complaint is that is seemed a bit more wet than I would have liked and it had a chemical smell (when the doors are closed). Some areas were not dry until the following day. I wrote a check for $79.95 (if I used a credit card, it would have been an additional 4% [$3.20] on top of that) So, overall, my carpet is clean. But I am a bit disappointed that the statement on the coupon "$14.95 per area, Basic service with no hidden fees" is not true. I paid an additional 33% ($20) of hidden fees. read more

US carpet care seems to be a very professional operation. My wife had origninally made an appointment with another company, but when they called 15 minutes past the two hour window they gave us to tell us that they wouldn't be at our house for another hour I told them "No thanks. Don't bother coming." and called US carpet care as plan B. US carpet care will be my first call in the future. When I initially called I set an appt with a female on the phone. She gave us a courtesy call to remind us of our appt the day before it was scheduled to take place and to let us know that their technician would call prior to arriving. The technician, Joshua, called the morning of our appt and asked if he could come early. This was an unusual bonus as it gave us more daytime hours for the carpets to dry. When he arrived he was very professional, courteous, and straight forward. He reviewed the pricing with me and then went to work. He finished in just over an hour and left his card and a coupon for 20% off the next time (Score-US carpet care's prices was already 25% less that the company my wife originally contacted). The carpet looks good. Joshua stated that it would take about 3 hours to dry, but it actually took 4 to 5 hours. No biggie, just be sure to make your appt for a warm day. I am not griping about a little extra dry time if the pay off is clean carpet and a few extra $ in my wallet. The woman that I set my appt with called a few days after the work was done to follow up and make sure I was satisfied with the quality of work. Us Carpetcare review...where to begin? This was literally the most awful, unethical experience I've had with a service business in many years. I began by making an appointment for between 12-3:00pm on a Thursday, based on an email quote that I received for mattress cleaning. $55, which seemed about average. After making the appointment, I asked if it was going to be ok that I was in a highrise, she replied no I would have to pay $40 extra for them to use a portable unit. Ok, that seemed reasonable. But then before hanging up the phone, she casually threw in the fact that there is also a $10 trip charge to pay for "increased gas prices" which I was a little irritated about it not being in the estimate. I agreed however. The receptionist called me somewhere around 1:30 on Thursday to let me know the technician would be late, sometime after 3:30. I reluctantly agreed, but since I rearranged my day for the appointment I asked her to take the $10 trip fee off. She would have to ask her office manager - and would later call me back to agree. However, at around 3:30pm the technician (Ryan) called and said he would still be later, around 5:30pm this time. i was not happy but agreed to have him over then. Well let me tell you, 5:30 came and went, and it wasn't until about 7:30 that he finally called and said he wasn't going to make it at all, and would have to come the next day. He offered to take the $40 portable unit fee off, so again I agreed. The next day, he finally called at around noon to tell me he was on his way. An hour later (you can see that these guys really can't stick to a schedule) he was there and after a disagreement about that fact he wouldn't take the trip charge plus the portable unit charge off, I called the receptionist and she had to call the technician to tell him it was ok. he then tried to upsell me on a "pre-treatment" and "deodorizing." I told him I was not going to add any extra services and was quoted a price that I intended to pay. He said ok, but then told me I would have to sign a "waiver" which would waive my right to take advantage of their "service guarantee." I asked what the guarantee was and what i was waiving, and he said he didn't know what it was. So I then looked on the company website, and the only guarantee I could find was a 100% happiness guarantee...which i told the technician I was not going to waive. He got very clearly irritated with me, and so i had to call the receptionist yet again to ask about this, and she said she didn't know what it was either and so I didn't have to sign it. Huh? He got to work. I was surprised to watch him work by only lightly spritzing the mattress with a handheld spray bottle, and then vacuuming it up quickly with the portable vacuum. He maybe used a total of one ounce of solution. When he told me he was done about 10 minutes later, I felt the mattress and it never even got wet on large one-foot square sections. I asked him to do a better job and re-do some sections, and he got very belligerent and told me he's "not blind" and re-did some of the sections...however, I noticed that his machine was not even spraying water on the mattress and he was just spritzing some liquid and barely cleaning the surface. Well, next I called the receptionist, complaining that this wasn't even getting close to a deep cleaning. She told me I didn't have to pay, and she called the technician who began to yell at me, telling me to "man up" and pay him. I barely got him out of my house after telling him to leave several times. I called back and told this to the receptionist, who was not even willing to send someone else out to do the cleaning - saying that she doesn't think anyone else could make it right. I asked to talk to the office manager, but she was "busy in another conversation" and had to call me back. That was two days ago and she never did. I would strongly warn you to beware of this company! I have to tell you that now my mattress stinks like cheap cologne and not only did they not clean it, but I feel i need to get someone else out here so that I can get this smell out. Another warning - if you want to use a credit card, they will try to charge you a 4% fee. This is very unreasonable since they can't be paying nearly this much to their credit card processor. read more

Jon-- I had some high expectations from these guys given the previous Yelp reviews, but US Carpet Care came in a bit below that. Setting up the appointment was easy- the receptionist was friendly and even helped me change the appointment to a more convenient time for me afterward. The stated time was between 10am and 1pm. Granted, it was a rainy day with some traffic, but I didn't get a phone call or any notification that the tech was going to be late. I called the receptionist around 1:15pm to see how long it would take- she said 30 minutes. After an hour of silence, I called back at 2:15pm, and the receptionist apologized and said that the tech was on his way and close by. He arrived at 2:30pm. The service itself was okay. I wasn't pleased that he tracked mud through my condo, but again, it was raining. I was displeased that he dragged his hoses through the place without regard to what he was hitting. Luckily, the hoses didn't damage anything. The job itself was okay. I'm watching it dry right now and he could have spent a little more time on some of the high-traffic areas, but for $60, I'll take it. Mediocre. They did an okay job and weren't too pricey. Perhaps I should tone my expectations down. read more

I got my carpets cleaned back in February and at first they looked great, but now almost every little mark is back, which makes me think they didn't do a very thorough job. Also when they first came I went to meet them and they didn't realize they needed a portable carpet cleaner, since it's a condo with no water hookup outside. Well, duh, you can tell it's a condo by the address. So I had to reschedule for another time when the portable was available. Just called to see if they guarantee the cleaning job for any length of time, since the marks and stains all reappeared within 3 months, and they said no, but would I like to pay for another cleaning? 1.) Timing was off. She quoted cleaning in the morning then carpets in the afternoon. The cleaning crew was the carpet crew. 2.) I clearly left a note saying come in & start the work, since it was an early Saturday appointment. The crew seemed irritated that we werent awake yet. Seriously, we are paying for a service you should have better customer service skills. We shouldn't have to be up so you can clean. I figured we were out of the way anyways 3.) EXTRA CHARGES and MANY OF THEM!!! 4.) The work was poor. I literally had to vacuum and mop after they left. I dont know what they did in 3 hours besides clean the bathrooms. Granted the toilets were clean which is why I gave one star, but the walls of my shower, shower doors had not been touched at all. 5.) The guy asked us to smoke him out when he was done... I had a great experience with US Carpet Care. I called them a couple days before I was scheduled to move out of my one-bedroom apartment in University Heights and they had several appointments available on the day I needed the carpets cleaned. They gave me a two hour window, and Dave also called me about 15 minutes before he arrived at the apartment. I let him in and he explained the process, saying that if he needed to use an extra chemical to get out the tough spots it would be an extra $10. I left the apartment and let him do his thing and came back to carpets that looked as good as new with no extra charges. The total cost for my living room and bedroom was $60, which I thought was exceptionally reasonable. Dave was also very friendly and had no problem with me writing him a check and leaving him to his job so that I could finish moving. We found a coupon for these guys in our Get One Free magazine. We were looking for a service that used eco-friendly chemicals and could clean my three downstairs rooms for a reasonable price. These guys were great. Dave and his assistant showed up on time and were very professional. They cleaned our entire downstairs in about 35 minutes for $60 - no hidden fees. If our place was more than 150 feet from where they could park their van, it would have been extra since their hoses don't reach any further than that without some special equipment. But they told us this in advance which was nice and it turned out we didn't have any issues with the distance. It's been about three weeks and none of the stains have re-appeared. My carpet looks as good as it did the day we moved in. Would definitely use again. read more

Had my carpets cleaned on May 12th, 2010. The cleaner was on time and very professional. He had a mobile unit to do a third floor apartment and was very efficient. He had extra pet "cleaner" do take care of a few spots. The carpets looked great. I am not sure of the long term look since we moved out the following day but the carpets looked great and smelled great for our move out. Only Con: The carpet was more wet when they left when expected. In the past carpet cleaners I used usually got it a little dryer. Overall based on service and a very very competitive price you can not go wrong with this company. If you call the companies number they have wonderful customer service. Tell them exactly what you need done and they will get you the best price. I needed 3 areas cleaned and they gave me a 5 area special to keep it cheaper. They were honest and do not seem to want to rip anyone off! read more

Overall the cleaning and carpet repair they did was very good. I had a torn up portion of my carpet that needed repairs and they were quick about it, gave me an estimate that was less than a few other companies I called and showed up fairly close to whatthey expected. I did have a few minor issues with the service in general. 1) The technician did not wear shoe covers. I have had my carpets cleaned and many other services in my home and they always weasr shoe covers. 2) The technician asked me how much the guy on the phone said ti would be, so I told him "between 85-115 dollars for the repair and another 30 for the cleaning. Well of course the technician charged me the 115. I wish that the technician would have given me a number for the charge rather than ask and then charge the highest amount. 3) I specifically made an appointment to come between 8-10AM and I got a courtesy call saying the tech would be there tomorrow between 10-12. This was a bit frustrating because in order to get to work on time, I needed an early appointment. This was lost in translation I guess. Like I said, I would use them again because they did a great job and the service was very reasonably priced. read more

We had Jason / JT come by - he was informative and helpful, and he REALLY did a good job - this was a rental unit, and had some pretty intense stains. He had a cancellation, and called to see if he could come by early, which was fine. The entire process took only an hour or less (2200 sq ft home), but it looks wonderful. Sorry to spoil the party but I have to give them a one star for their dishonesty. Our carpet was in decent condition except one area near the kitchen entry. It had a couple of spots and we were not sure if regular shampoo-ing (with rugdoctor) would take care of that. So we checked yelp and made an appointment with US Carpet for our move out cleaning. We told the person on the phone about the spot and asked him to come take a look to see if they can deal with it (he was in the neighborhood). He came over and checked the spot and said it would take $10 extra for deep cleaning but he guaranteed the carpet would be like new. So we said ok - $70 for a 600 sq apartment was fair. Unfortunately our movers did not finish in time and we had to reschedule the carpet cleaning for later day. So we gave their number to our landlord who was nice enough to take it on himself to get it done. When the carpet cleaner arrived, he told our landlord that the place was too dirty and needed a "high traffic" treatment on top of the deep cleaning. This was when the representative who gave us the quote had told us that except the one spot near the kitchen rest of the carpet looked clean (and yes it WAS in good shape because we had shampooed it a year ago). Our landlord did not have an option but let them do what they wanted to do and give us the bill. This is a clear case of bait and switch. The so called "high traffic" treatment was only $15 extra, but dishonesty really upsets me. The carpet really did not need that treatment. The guys took advantage of the fact that we were not present. I don't recommend them - you are better off going with stanley steamer - it will cost you the same, but you would know the cost upfront. read more

I purchased cleaning for 2 areas and was given an appointment between 12 and 2. They did not show up and I called at 2:20. The woman I spoke with said the tech was busy and she would call to see when he would arrive. She called me back 15 minutes later and said he would be there at approximately 3:30. I expressed my concerns that I had taken time off work to be there and didn't have time to wait all afternoon. Her reply was to offer to re-schedule the appointment. She never apologized for being late, which would have certainly made me feel a little better. The tech finally showed up at 4:15. A call from the company to let me know the tech was running late would have helped, but that didn't happen. The cleaning itself appears to be pretty good. But I do have a few problems: 1. As another reviewer said, the tech did not wear shoe covers. But he told me not to walk on the carpet with shoes on while it was wet. 2. The tech ran the ridged hose into a through my house but did not pay attention to what the hose was running against. He damaged two plants outside my house, scraped up the leg of a table, and scraped up the corners of two walls. Other companies I have used placed plastic things at the corners where the hose ran to protect the wall and furniture, but this company did not, resulting in damage to my property. I will not use this company again. read more

I scheduled an appointment for 10-12. They came around 10:30ish. Well it's 12:00 now and the man told us that he couldn't find any water for him to use to clean the carpets. I live in a condo complex and I've seen multiple company's come through and successfully find water to clean the carpets with. It's amazing to me becuase he offered to comeback with a portable cleaner and it would have to be later in the day, really not an acceptable offer considering you just wasted 2 hours of my day and didn't get a thing cleaned. Don't use these guys, they don't seem to know what they're doing. How do u clean carpets but can't figure out how to find a source for the water? First they were almost an hour late, they gave the time between noon and 2... at nearly 3 they finally showed up. no apology. nothing. Then the price changed from over $120 down to $60 then back up. The guy on the phone said that the price was going to be the 2 room special for $60 but neglected to say (or post on their website) that it is for a room that is 10x10 or under. Awesome service - it's been a couple years since I had gotten my carpets cleaned and I have a 4 year old, so they were pretty dirty with lots of stains and spots that I didn't think would come out. Jason did a great job. My carpet looks beautiful and all the spots are gone. He was also right on time, there were NO hidden fees (and I live in an upstairs unit), the price was very affordable, and he was done in under an hour. He is also a really nice guy to talk to! p.s. The carpets in our new home were pretty nasty, and we thought that we might need to get them replaced. But, I was referred to US Carpet Care by my realtor, so I figured that I would give them a try. They showed up on time and were very friendly. They did such a great job- our carpets look great- almost like new! We were pretty amazed and happy that we wouldn't have to get new carpets for a few years. The only thing I was frustrated about is that I had called a few days before to see if they could also do the tile. The lady on the phone said it would be no problem, but once our guy arrived he said that he wouldn't have the time to do it. He also didn't have all the equipment because our shower is travertine. I wish the lady on the phone would have asked me more questions, so I would have known that I would have had to do it another day. I live in a condo downtown and the technician, Joshua, went above and beyond to make sure he could bring the hoses up to my condo so he could do the truck mounted cleaning. The owner came to clean my carpet, Dave. He was friendly, informative and generally a great guy. The experience was so much better than the last two times I had my carpet cleaned. The carpet was dry in less time than promised and I had some serious pet stains and they came out as good as they possibly could. The best part is the smell of the pet stains was gone! I found out about US Carpet Care from the Daily Save and I was able to get two rooms for $28!!!!! AND the pet treatment was $25. He even did my very small highway without a charge. Had my carpets cleaned on June 17th. Chad was our technician and he was very nice. He showed up at the very end of the 2 hour window, and then I had him call me when he was just about finished. Did a good job. I was pleased he did inside all the closets as well. The carpets were in pretty bad shape (we were getting ready to move in) so I did not expect miracles, but they came out ok. Chad was done in about 80 min. It seemed fast for such a big house. I can't help but think if he had taken a little more time on some of the dirtier high traffic areas it would have come out a little better. Kreshawn (sp?) on the phone is very nice and professional. The tech that came out was SUPER friendly, and he did an amazing job cleaning my carpets. I only paid $14.95 per room, and he even threw in a few extras. No hidden fees!! I had U.S. Carpet Care clean the carpets in my Normal Heights rental property at the end of June. I called just a few days before the service was needed, and they were able to accommodate my schedule with no problem. They called 1/2 hour ahead of time as promised and arrived within the first hour of the two hour window they had given. It's a medium size home (~1600 square feet) - I found the pricing to be quite reasonable (no hidden upcharges). They did a really nice job; all of the spots came up and, overall, the carpet looked great. The technician was personable and was willing to answer any questions I had. I'm getting ready to call them tomorrow to clean the carpets in my own home in Poway. Highly recommended. read more
