I went in to wax my EYEBROWS ONLY. THAT ASIAN LADY WAXED DIFFERENT PARTS OF MY FOREHEAD WHICH LEFT PATCHES ON MY HEAD which I didn't ask or pay for. AND PROCEEDS TO TELL ME THAT " usually I charge people for extra work but for u give it for free. I looked in the mirror , I liked my brows but my forehead area I didn't notice the patches of the parts that were waxed and that parts that weren't. I went outside to get a better lighting I saw how terrible it looked on my face. I came back to ask her. Way too expensive for a gel pedicure ($55 + $20 for the deluxe supreme which included callus remover and 10 minutes extra massage ), was getting chewed up by mosquitoes the entire time, no AC (hence leaving the door open allowing flies to come in) and the "massage" portion which I paid extra for as part of the package was just rubbing lotion on my legs for a 10 min. Unfortunately this is the only nail place on this side of the island that I know of, but I will now be driving into Kaneohe for all future appointments. I told them not short just even out with file but the lady just cut away until I had to actually stop her from cutting. Now I will have 10 ingrown toenails. This is the 2nd time I've visited this nail salon and both experiences were terrible. The 1st visit, they convinced me to use an off-brand that stained my nails red for 3-4 months after until it grew out. Deciding to give it another try out of convenience, I went today. The older lady was extremely rude. After she again tried to convince me that the OPI polishes weren't good, I told her what happened in Vietnamese since she didn't understand English. She ignored me and poured water into the OPI until it spilled out everywhere. One nail looked awful and when I asked her to redo it, she said the clear coat would take care of it (it did not). $80 later and could've done a better job myself at home. I won't be back. The lady I had doing my nails was not nice at all, she also did a really bad job. I got Gel nails on Friday and less than 2 days later they were already peeling off. I also had to tell her several times to put the polish to the end of my nail. I did a french tip and they are all crooked and different sizes, as well as white streaks being left. I just had a simple mani pedi with Tiffany at US Nails, and she was wonderful! Detail oriented, efficient but patient at the same time. I was hesitant to make my appointment based on the low stars on Yelp, but I had a completely different experience with no complaints. These customers must have seen a different employee? There were only 2 people working, but thankfully I called and she was free to help me right away. The massage chair was AMAZE. I will definitely go back for a simple mani pedi. Service horrible . Tried to make me pay more by saying a certain service could not be done . I asked if they could just cut and polish toe nails, nail tech said they cannot and a pedicure for 35 is all they could give me and it's so ugly and messy , then they proceeded to change me $10 more , My nails were the worst , asked for dipped powder which is $55 they charged me $65 and say " next time ready the sign" my nail immediately fell apart and chipped the next day . I highly recommend driving into the city to get quality work done ! Came here to get my acrylics filled, it's closer than other salons so I thought I would try it out. Big mistake. When I walked in there was nobody inside, after a minute someone finally came in. I told her I wanted a fill for my acrylics and she motioned for me to sit down. While she was doing my nails I was trying to trust the process, but she never actually filled my nails. She sanded them down and then started applying polish. I was so confused so I asked her if she was going to fill them with the dip powder but she said her English wasn't good and she couldn't understand me. I gave up and just let her go on, I should have left right then but I'm a people pleaser of course and let her finish. My nails look grown out already because she didn't paint to the cuticle, also they're totally uneven not to mention I didn't even get the fill that I was in there for! To say this is the worst nail salon I have been to would be an understatement. I had to take the nail brush from the "technician" because she could not make a V design on my sisters nail. I REPEAT - I had to take the nail brush from the technicians hand and paint a "V" design on my sisters nail. Meanwhile the whole time the technician scoffing that my sister wanted a design. I'm still in disbelief. Not to mention we went there to get our nails done before my sisters wedding. When we told them that (and we told her that so she would be a little nicer) the technician said "brides always come back and complain I don't want to hear you complaining about your nails." Not as a joke, quite seriously and multiple times. I have never been to a nail salon, which should be a relaxing atmosphere, and felt so heated with anger. I am empathetic for small business but this place was absolute trash. Garbage. A mistake. I still left a tip and I regret every part of it. To be so unprofessional and rude to your customers was an appalling experience. If you are in the north shore it is worth is to make the drive south to get your nails done. Popped in for pedicures without an appointment after mailing a coconut home at the nearby post office. They had two clients finishing up but let us come in and wait only a few moments before setting up chairs for us. I opted to get the "super deluxe pedicure extra" which according to the sign is: callus removal, smooth orange scrub, firming mask and a 10 minute massage. This is $20 (in addition to the $35 base price of a pedicure). She removed my old polish with one of those electric things instead of acetone and buffed the nail and trimmed around, but not overly so, which I appreciate. She added some oil and let it sit before using the cheese grater on some of my rough spots. She massaged in an orange scrub then put a lotion-like goop on and hot towel on my feet and set a timer for the massage. The massage was really pleasant and she even went a bit longer than the timer. She grabbed my chosen color and asked if I wanted regular or gel, and I opted for regular polish. I'm not sure what the price difference is. As a side note, it's neat they have the same color in both kinds! She painted my toes and didn't rush and sprayed an oil she massaged into my legs then helped me get my flip flops on without messing up the polish then applied the top coat. My total was 104.71 (my $55 pedicure, plus my friends $45 pedicure, and I'm not sure what the 4.71 was, maybe a credit card fee) and she only wanted the tip in cash. All in all I'm really impressed. It says they can only accept tips in cash and I only have $3 on me so that's really embarrassing. Thankfully my friend had cash to tip. read more

Tiny little nail salon in La'ie Shopping Center. It was my first time coming here as a last resort to get my nails done due to the fact that I didn't want to drive to another town to go to the nail salon that I usually go to. They accept walk ins and appointments. When I got there it was packed. They only have 4 pedicure chairs and 4 tables for manicures. The pedicure chairs looked and felt fairly new and felt great with the massage going. They have a very small variety of regular nail polish and a huge variety of gel nail polish. My pedicure seemed a little rushed, but the leg massage made up for that. I didn't like how my manicure came out though. She cut my nails too short and I don't like how she shaped my nails. The arm massage was also lame. Overall, the staff were extremely friendly and call you "honey" just how Angela Johnson jokes about. That was a first for me at a nail salon and I couldn't help but laugh to myself. I would suggest this place as a 2nd resort or if your desperate to get your nails done in Laie. To start, if you're thinking about going here - don't. I live close to this salon and my sister and I wanted to get manicures. We made an appointment, came at the time but they didn't start until an hour later because all technicians were helping other customers. This place is 100% about quantity over quality. When she sat me down and I showed her the design I wanted, she laughed and asked if I wanted it like that on every finger. Me being nice, I said you can just put the design on 2 fingers. The rest can be plain French tip. Let's talk about my French tips. She didn't even ask what shape I wanted so that was a bust. She made my nails look like little claws. The French tip is basically a straight line across. They are all so uneven. It's such a shame that they even call this place a salon. I blame myself a lot for not telling her to stop. But I don't like being that person. But now that I think about it, it wasn't worth this jump-scare nails on my fingers. I have gone here 3 times because my technician of many years on Kauka Blvd. has been unavailable due to a family illness. She does my gel nails beautifully for 26 dollars. Ask for Than. I am a good tipper but the ATM machine was out of order. She has a sign on her register "tips cash only". I gasped when I saw my bill. And twice before service and after explained the ATM situation. When I got my outrages bill she took her finger and pointed at the tip part on the receipt. Are you kidding me lady? She speaks very little English and talks constantly in Vietnamese to a co-worker. I just let it go in one ear and out the other. Oh and she quit. My last recent visit the 90 bucks one was SO rushed. The gel polish was put on SO thick it lifted and peeled within days. Looked horrible right after she finished and hit me on the back with her fist three times to make out like this is a special bonus. I had ask for only two coats of gel. She also over drilled my natural nails to thin and brittle. She gave me the fastest pedicure I ever had. I explained my ingrown toenail and she said, "you no worry I fix it." My toe was throbbing when I left. Also before arriving she was doing 3 pedicures back and forth on 3 visitors from the mainland. They had gel fingernails done also. I heard her charge them 60 dollars each. The salon itself is a dirty hole in the wall with no bathroom except outside in a long narrow alley between stores in this strip mall. Please think really carefully before going here. And if you do ask for firm prices up front. Her prices on the wall are very confusing and she says at checkout "but I had to do this and that". I live on the North Shore and went for travel convenience. Never again! And that finger tapping on my enormous bill was so greedy. She'll take your tip anyway she can. So why the cash only sign? I had explained the FHB atm was out of order before she ever started. Greedy, annoying voice that never stops and unsanitary conditions. 1st visit she actually used the pink polish on her work station and never ask me to pick a color. Good luck. Since the owner has changed They start using machine to remove soak off gel nails without wrapping aluminum foils with acetone. Scraped off my own nails with machine :( using machine is way faster so they can take more customers. Quantity than quantity. My own nails became super thin and sensitive . Located in the Lāie shopping center it's the only nail salon I could find in the area. They had a really great special for a mani + pedi w/ gel polish for only $50.00. As soon as I stepped in the door I was immediately greeted and although they were busy within five minutes I was serviced. The funny part was seeing how many guys were there getting a pedicure. It's a very small salon so you'll be able to see and hear everyone and everything that's happening. The nail technician I had was very experienced, she didn't rush the mani or pedi and I felt so relaxed and comfortable. For my nails I requested a design but I could tell by her expression it wasn't a design or maybe technique she was familiar with using so I found a simpler design which she made and I was so happy with the outcome. Not chipping - peeling. We returned to the location to ask for some sort of reimbursement. They did not take note of what was requested when my future daughter in law called to make the appointment - there will be six persons getting mannys and pedis. Something got lost in the translation. There were only two people working - one doing manicures the other doing pedicures. However one of the people did switch off from time to time but it just didn't work out because there were all of us .... and then a couple other customers... It just got to be confusing and not efficient as far as time usage. In the end some of us were not able to get the services that we had hoped for and it was just disappointing. They knew what was expected before we arrived and they didn't prepare for what was wanted... and it was not the fake nails one of the technicians continually pushed. I am confused as to why someone told my future daughter in law to come in at a specific time and not be able to provide the services that are requested. In the end two of our party got nothing because there was no time! The shop didn't have enough techs for the job - and their rates while competitive were still a tad over the top because they charged for the littlest thing as being extra like $10 more for this or $10 more for that.... That's not right...that's not good business practice.
