Parvin -the so called manager is a complete waste of space and resource for the post office. She is truly the worse person to deal with. Twice I have head her tell me she could not do anything because that's just how it is and it's not her job. There is absolutely no sense of ownership. The first time I had bought a book of messed up stamps. One side was ok and the other was cut in the wrong place. She wouldn't take them back because she said she had no authority to authorise it. I called the next day and the manager Anthony took care of it quickly with no problem, and simply replaced the bad stamps. These were for my holiday cards so didn't want any trouble having them delivered. Second time, I couldn't make a passport appointment online so I called and she told me to come in to make an appointment with the clerk. I get there and she says she can't help me, "it's not their problem it's the passport agency's problem". Well as an agent office and so called "manager" maybe you could make a call and try to escalate the issue. She is so lazy and simply gives lots of excuses and rude to the customers to boot. No empathy at all as I had minor children with me and they require appointments to renew with both parents present. She just laughed and said it's not her problem and insinuated I was upset because I couldn't have an appointment. Yes, because she told me to come in and even more upsetting is that she wouldn't take ownership and as a manager try to find a solution rather than laugh and pass the buck. Simply ridiculous to make someone a manager who just passes the blame around and this is the exact type of person that gives the postal service it's bad reputation. The other ladies are nice or try to be helpful but they just shrink around her and her attitude. I hope Anthony reads this and makes some much needed changes. It's sad as I use to love this location. By the way, I called the San Carlos post office and they were able to help me. Parvin is useless. read more

I originally wrote this review complaining about lack of parking space and the fact I have had mail lost here 2 times. I am up to having to wait nearly 20 minutes to park the other day and now having 3 pieces of mail being lost. The most recent- a check mailed to the DMV to pay my registration 3 weeks early and its now 2 weeks late because the check never got to the PO box in Sacramento. Now guess where I have to go? The DMV AKA Hell. I have to plead with them to waive my late penalty too. I hate this post office so much! read more

The crappiest! This is the service I got from the young blond lady: Today I dropped off a Priority package with pre-paid postage, I had estimated it to be 14oz which is what was on the package. The price on line IS THE SAME whether or not your package is 1oz up to 16oz. But the blonde lady at the counter told me I had incorrect postage and my package was actually 15 oz. That's ONE OUNCE over, not to mention it doesn't change the price!!!!!!! She said I had to add money or go home and void my label to buy a new one saying "15oz". What a joke. Screw you, and this crappy facility. I never plan on returning to this location. I will stick to my usual Foster City branch, full of great, knowledgable staff who have good customer service skills. read more

Dude look out for anyone over 40 here. I spent a bunch of time explaining my insurance claim to one of the clerks and she kept getting confused. Tried to get rid of me by saying come back on a different day. I had to insist to her to go back and look for my package again. I was tempted to jump over the counter and explain to her step by step how to do her job. The white lady in the office had always been pretty rude and unwelcoming to us. I've been going here for more than ten years. This young lady came from somewhere else and is the laziest and least customer friendly USPS employee I've met. She would never process a money order and send us to the next window. It could be that she is doing this to non-white customers coz I've observed her treating such customers cordially. My wife is asian and she also has had bad experiences with her. So she would skip going to her window and go to the other ladies. The rest of the staff are pretty nice. The passport service handler was a gem. Grace retired. We will miss her. I have to admit I don't have much experience at many other post offices, but this one seems pretty normal to me. If may be hard to find parking because the lot only fits about 5-6 cars, but there is street parking on both sides of the street so keep a look out! During Christmas, the longs were out the door, but that is to be expected around the holidays. I always pre-purchase my postage before I head to the post office; once I get there I only need to drop off my package and I'm on my way! read more

Got my first P.O. box from this place... Registered for it online, showed up with everything but my confirmation printout. The guy was very keen on sending me back home to get it, but my schedule is so absurd right now that I was actually willing to lose my initial fee and register for another P.O. Box -- I just had to walk out of there with that task taken care of. After realizing that I wasn't going away, he decided to look up my info on the computer, had me fill out another piece of paper, checked my documents (several forms of ID are required) and gave me my combination code. I wish he would have just done that in the first place (I even asked if he could). Overall, I'd say that the guy I dealt with was lazy and moderately helpful, but I got what I needed without paying anything extra. read more

I was expecting a tracked delivery so after the plow came through yesterday I shoveled the walk to make sure I would get my package on Monday. The mail carrier marked me as having no access to my driveway just so they didn't have to deliver my package. This is unacceptable and I feel they should have to take a picture proving they couldn't access my driveway. came in for a passport Jan 23. i thought i walked into an office party. Everyone: customers, clerks, supervisors were all talking, sharing baby pictures, catching up. they all knew each other and I felt like I was at home. Gracie took care of us and was very warm and friendly but also very fast and efficient. she caught all our mistakes and got everything right for us, while talking with everyone the whole time. she told me that stamps were going up to 55 cents next week so I bought a few hundred, i wanted Scooby Doo stamps so they looked all over for them. stamps going up 10%; interest at the bank is 0% that was a good tip. At noon it got busy so more clerks came out so that all the counters were open. Supervisor was helping out. I am near the San Mateo post ofc on Delaware, I never go in there, no one speaks English and no one seems to care much, i'd rather drive thru traffic to somewhere else, it's faster for me than waiting in line for a half hour. Are the people working in this post office on commission? They try to sell you expensive service like one day priority mail. I already said it's not urgent. They said I get tracking. Still 2-day priority has tracking at much cheaper rate. Don't listen to their recommendations. read more

This is the second time I've had a problem with a package I sent out at this post office. First time was last year 2010 dec. I sent out a xmas gift to Oregon and it was suppose to be delivered within a week and it arrived after the expected delivery date which was after xmas, but at least the package arrived. This time around I dropped off a package that had a usps return shipping label on it. I dropped it off Dec 16th, checked the tracking update and the most recent and only tracking update is that it was picked up by an agent on the 20th. What does that mean? Upon calling they said some third party 'agent' picked it up from their post office and they can't track beyond that and they don't have any information on what 3rd party: FedEx, UPS, etc picked it up from them. So to note I also returned another item, same company, with a return shipping label, the day before at the San Francisco post office and the item got to the destination by the 22nd. It's now Dec 29th and my package which I need to get a substantial refund for, is MIA, and no additional info or help from USPS in Belmont. Close and conveniently located from my house, but next time, I will take the extra effort to take my packages to a different post office. read more

I have to agree it is a post office! Customer service is very important to me as soon as I walked in I got approached by Karie. I quickly asked a question she stated that should be right with me not even 2 minutes after she quickly took my answer went to the back && came back and told me how much it would be to send as well as offered me a package envelope to put my product in! Do not use the Belmont P.O. for passport service. I procured a passport renewal form from the San Mateo P.O. (African-American female) who gave me excellent advice and forms to fill out. I filled the forms, but I still needed a photo. I know that the post office can now take photos for passports when it processes passports. Fine. But you need to make an appointment. It took me three days for someone to finally pick up the phone at the Belmont P.O. Whew! I was able to schedule my appointment a week later. It was an inconvenient time, but I changed my schedule. I show up to Belmont P.O. fifteen minutes early. I handed the clerk my completed form and my passport. He tells me that it is the wrong form. What? It has the exact same information as the other one. Hmm? I probably can redo this within the next thirty minutes. I don't understand why there is such duplication. Then I ask if I can my photo done. The clerk hems and haws and says the camera doesn't work. I ask why wasn't I notified of this at the time the appointment was set or subsequently. He repeats the camera does work (I later find out that it is not worked for a period of time). He says that when I come with a completed new form and a photo it will be $110 fee plus $25 service fee for providing passport services. I ask "what services?" since I had a form already completed and their camera was not functional. Don't understand the failure to notify of incomplete service availability and the add-on fee. There is a gross misrepresentation of what services that Belmont P.O. can provide. I left frustrated. I went over to the UPS at Old Country Road and Masonic. The manager there was friendly and competent. He took my photos and we mailed the application from there without a hitch. The UPS was ten times more helpful than the post office. p.s. And yes, Dyuti, they lost a certified letter a few years back and played dumb. Recommendation: For passport service, get the forms online and use the UPS; or use the San Mateo post office. read more

I had a few packages that needed to dropped off and this post office was in the neighborhood so I swung by. It's like any other post office, there's barely any parking in the lot, there is street parking if you don't mind walking. I tried to put my packages in the bin but it was stuck so I had to go to the front and hand it off. Luckily there was no line and the lady took my packages with no problem. read more

I have never had a problem at this post office. I even had my passport handled there and everything went as they said it would. The staff is great, friendly, always willing to go the extra mile. I could not rate this place with a no star so it gets one. Short and sweet - I purchased a medium flat rate box and shipped something to OHIOto an Ebay buyer - From Belmont California the small package that I sent went on a trip to Puerto Rico - THEN to OHIO where the contents of the box was found empty. OK - so something went wrong and the package contents was lost /stolen - whatever. But here is my complaint. I filed a claim for about 31.00 ( the box comes insured for 50.00) - the people at the claim office said that I have to send them proof of the value which I sent - then I believe proof of insurance payment - Is the tracking info enough ? I called the Belmont Ca. office today and the man said that I should have sent them a receipt because that was my proof of insurance (in so many words). Why did they not ask for that in the first place. Anyway I loose the case is closed and I loose my item which was sold for about 20.00 and the cost of postage which was about 11.00. So a warning to all - ALWAYS get a receipt if you are dropping a package off. Apparently a tracking number is not good enough. read more

Worst service ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The postwoman leaves me a pick-up notice at my place on Friday saying she can't access my complex to drop off a package at my door, so I visit the post office on Saturday to pick-up my package, and after searching for 30 minutes the supervisor (Richard) says, the postwoman took my package out to be delivered (which makes no sense since she gave me the pink notice to pick up my package at the Post Office) and then he guarantees that they'll deliver the package (since I won't be available throughout the work week since I work during the day and don't get back to the area during their operating hours), and yet the postwoman never leaves another note that she tried to deliver the package again. The funny thing is, come Monday a new postman accesses my complex to deliver a package and I have a quick conversation with him to see if he has my package, but of course no luck. US Post Office of Belmont, your service stinks, especially Richard. So much for your guarantee! read more

I went here when there were three people working the counter. One young female and two other females. The young one seems European. She must be the manager and if not she should be because she is fast and knows what she does. There was another lady there that I didn't get to see her interactions. There's this one Indian lady there who seems like she doesn't quite know what she's doing. I was dropping off a package and she stopped to look at the label and questioned me about it. I told her it was prepaid and I have the receipt for the label. I showed her and she just said "oh." And then she took it. I've never dealt with a slower post office than this one. I don't expect fast service at any post office. I always expect to wait in line but waiting 15 minutes with two people ahead is a long wait. read more

agreeing with the note below. I used the self-service machine here for the first time for two packages and got both back in MY mailbox a few days later saying I was .50 and .60 short. Do you really think I'd really use the machine that weighs my packages and somehow manipulate it to print up two postage labels that are a few cents short? The office offers the services I need. They are straight to the point about how they do things. And on top of that my mail lady is the best. She hand delivered my areas mail to tennets even when our homes had been flooded. She came by multiple times so people could have their msil. Shes wonderful. read more

It does not surprise me the US Postal Service is suffering. The customer service is awful. Gracie was rude and snappy to me. I was attempting to mail a present to a friend in Hong Kong. I had never sent anything to Hong Kong before and Gracie made me feel like an idiot because I had not filled out the custom form before I came up to her desk. She also told me that it would cost $60 to mail the box I had prepared or it would be $30 to send if I bought another box and repackaged it exactly the same way I had prepared the box I brought in. I asked her to explain it to me and she told me it was because of what was written on the outside of the box. When I asked her if I could just mark out the stamp she had asked the next patron to step up and started working with them. I took the box across the street to UPS and they sent it as it was for $34. And they were really nice. They told me they hear stories like this a lot from the post office. read more

Went in to drop of an envelop - certified mail. I forgot to seal the back so I requested the front office staff (younger caucasian woman with dirty blonde hair) if she could seal it. To my surprise she told me to lick the back and seal it. Not rude or anything - but just matter of fact. I requested again if she would put some scotch tape on it coz I didn't want to lick it. She tells me to lick my finger and wet the back and seal it. That was just disgusting and now she was just being difficult. She said that the USPS does not allow her to use more than an inch of scotch tape to seal mail. I found that totally unbelievable and just ridiculous and I felt that she was being un-wantingly difficult. She could have easily sealed the envelop for me but just didn't want to and kept telling me to just lick it and stick it as everyone else does it. What a be*atch - really. There's more I can say about her - but I'll leave it at that. I hope someone talks to her about her lack of customer service. I'd like to go to a post office, get my stuff done and leave - but this time I found it was an unpleasant experience that could have been totally avoided. read more

This rating is for the workers in the back that process dropped off packages; I have nothing bad to say about the front desk workers, they are great. I dropped off 2 packages in flat rate envelopes with preprinted labels, and they were returned to me. I brought the packges back to ask the front desk person to explain why they were returned to me. She couldn't, and had to bring out the manager. Manager went back to check, then came back and said my packages were "overstuffed" so I needed to pay additional postage. What happened to "if it fits, it ships?" I pointed out that on both envelopes the flaps folded completely over sealing the envlope completely, and I did not alter the shape of the envelopes, which made my packages competely legit for paying the flat rate postage. I also pointed out that I have mailed out 3000+ packages so I kind of know what I'm doing. Manager said he'd let it go this time and send the packages out but my packages were borderline. No, they were not borderline, and these workers need to process packages according to the USPS Domestic Mail Manual and not play games to make customers pay extra postage. read more
