I joined this site just to post this review. I have completely "postal" feelings towards this P.O. and just sent this email to the USPS site: I'm writing this to express the general feeling in the area about our local Post Office. My motivation for writing is spurred by the fact that my mom just mailed me my BIRTH CERTIFICATE and some CHILDHOOD PICTURES (only because she didn't know the terrible state of this joke of a Post Office here). Big Surprise -- THEY"RE LOST! So I get a delivery notification and flip it over to find out where to pick it up and the P.O. address is SCRATCHED OUT. My only guess is they didn't bother to reorder these slips, used another P.O.'s cards and didn't have the time to write in the correct address. I just moved into a slightly different area of Brooklyn and was unsure which office to go to. Then I get another card a couple of days later and this time there's simply NO P.O. ADDRESS STAMPED ON AT ALL! I tried to call the few local P.O. to locate the package - they don't even bother to answer the phone. I've lost everything from $500 cameras to rare records bought on Ebay because of the pathetic service in this area. WTF is the problem!? Just close the whole thing down already, stop wasting our time and losing our mail. You think I'm the only one? We have the WORST mail carrier in the history of mail carriers. She not only won't take packages up the ELEVATOR one floor to the 24-hr door man; she refuses to redeliver as well. Out going mail has been known to sit in the outbox for a week! I wanted to call the police on the post office because technically they are holding my property after I've requested redelivery and are not providing any info. My husband didn't think I could do that, but what CAN you do when the USPS is awful? I finally called the place - it was answered by a fax screech. I called again and actually got a human - he wanted to know the confirmation # from the online redelivery request so he could write up the idiot postal carrier - he also arranged to have it redelivered - OMG - there is actually one person working there with a brain!!!! 0 stars When tracking packages online I have received the following message on a routine basis. "undeliverable as addressed" This has happened when I ordered multiple items from different merchants that are due to be delivered the same day. I believe they simply do not try to delivery them and they falsify the note that the delivery was even attempted. The last two times this happened I was home the entire day and received other mail. When I finally track down the missing packages, the address is, in fact, my address. You can file a complaint using the Postal Regulatory Commission (http://www.prc.gov/). Please do so if you have a bad experience with this post office. Complaining to anyone at this post office will result in nothing but a bigger headache and possibly enhanced depression. Making a formal complaint above their heads may not do anything either, but it feels better. read more

Refuse to go to this rat hole of a place because it's basically an hour or so of a wait, so figured I'd call them up since they can never seem to correctly deliver anything to my house. Ordered something and said it was delivered at 2pm yesterday and guess what?! It wasn't there, but yet I was at that exact time. Started calling them today at 930 am, it is now 4pm and I haven't spoken to a single person in that miserable place. No one answers telephone calls and not 1 single automated option works, every option is an "invalid entry" .. i hate this place and everyone in it, It really needs to burn down with every last lazy scumbag who works there.. read more

Completely ridiculous. I just moved here a few months ago, and discovered USPS doesn't bother to deliver packages to my building. Always says on Amazon tracking that an attempted delivery notice was left, but that's a lie - they never bother to come into the building at all. They literally just put the package on the truck and drive it around in circles, bring it back to the post office at the end of the day, and repeat for a couple of days. I'm also not sure how I'm supposed to even pick up my packages myself. My last package was supposed to arrive on Thursday. I went to the post office on Friday and Saturday (waiting in 1/2 hr line each time), and, after rummaging around in the back for 15 minutes (why does it take that long? how unorganized is this place?) they claimed they didn't have it, so it must be out for delivery. I can't call the post office to ask about my packages because I just get a busy signal. Seriously - how do we report this place? How am I supposed to get my mail??? read more

This post office actually makes me want to move into a different neighborhood just to never have to deal with these idiots. I can't tell you how often my package is supposedly out for delivery and then can't be delivered because my "mail receptacle" was blocked. I don't have a mail receptacle. You open the door and drop off the package in the hallway. And they know how it works - every so often they actually manage to do it. UPS manages to deliver packages without fail. I've even been home whole days where they never show up but say they attempted delivery anyway. Meanwhile the mail delivery people (vs package delivery) - usually they manage to deliver your mail in your box, but every so often they just drop all the mail for our building in a box in the hall and call it a day. Unbelievable! And finally, when you try to call the office, you get an automated message saying, for example, to press 3 for package related entry and then each time you try, it says "invalid entry" and takes you back to the beginning of their long winded speech. Bad. Really REALLY BAD. I reached the end of my rope today after waiting in the package pick-up line for half an hour (they made it through a wopping 3 customers during that half hour) only to be told to go to the end of a 30 people deep regular window line because it was time for the worker's break. They are so horribly organized; why do they always need to go to the left after looking on the shelves to the right? Is there a mountain of unsorted packages to the left? Is that why it takes FOREVER? I put in a complaint call to the 1-800-ask-usps number... my measly little call doesn't mean much, but maybe if everyone complains, something will happen? This place is AWFUL...AVOID AT ALL COSTS (have things shipped to your office or to somewhere that packages can be left if possible). What is the point of a tracking number if they don't bother to leave package slips? Apparently the two I supposedly received (as noted on the usps site) mysteriously didn't make it into my mailbox- nothing new. This post office is about a mile from where I live and is a real hassle to get to. ON MONDAY-FRIDAY IT IS ONLY OPEN UNTIL 5:30 PM AND NOT 7:00 PM! I called this post office during the day and was rudely told that I had to call the 1-800 usps number (and then I was given the wrong number); found the right phone number and entered my tracking number and there was no information available. Tried to get an actual person on the phone but was told by the auto-bot that no customer service was available (figures). Called this post office back- was put on hold for 15 minutes. Hung up and called back, I explained that I wanted to confirm that my package was there because I did not receive any post slips (and I wanted to spare myself the nightmare experience of going there if my package wasn't there) and there wasn't sufficient information online or at the 1-800 number. I was rudely (again) told that they can't (really, they just won't) check to see if packages are there and I should assume it was if I hadn't gotten it. The door was locked at 5:29 PM and a worker finally opened to door to let people out. I asked her if I could quickly pick up a package because it was about to be returned, she snapped at me that she didn't have time for this but she let me in. Then the guy behind the counter returned and was pissed because he didn't want to look for anything else. Meanwhile, another post office teller was arguing with a customer because she didn't want to sell him stamps to send something or she didn't want to have to put the stamps on the package for him (something absurd). The other guy returns and tells me that my package isn't there and it was maybe sent to another post office in a different area code (all of my packages have always gone to this post office- the area code that I live in). At the very least he gave me the phone number to that post office. After waiting to be let out of the door, sans package, I finally made it out onto the street where the post office worker who had tried to find my package passed me on the street and appeared to be cursing on the phone about having to stay at work past 5:30 PM (it was 5:39). I mean.... its a post office. Don't go in there expecting an uplifting experience. That being said it is pretty bad, even by post office standards. The window for package pick-up doesn't open and the didn't tell the people waiting in line there. Their hours say 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, but they don't start opening the windows to help people until 9:30 am. This was not an aberration, as I was told "9:30 am. ERRRYDAY!" by one of the fine workers of the United States Postal Service who was "working" there. I can't speak about waiting long in line, because I was close to the front so I was able to get in and out fairly quickly once they opened, but there was already a long line forming behind me. This Post Office is the worst I've ever encountered. The Package delivery person CONSISTENTLY either leaves a package slip or often NONE AT ALL when I am home without bothering to ring the bell. This means the lazy ass doesn't even bring the actual packages in the first place. Then when I've ordered a redelivery either online or over the phone, they never resend it and I have to find time to go there to pick it up. Going to this post office is a nightmare because there are long lines and very few employees to deal with them. And RUDE staff especially over the phone. Constant complaints do nothing--they had a manager come try to fix this place but he must be gone because it is right back to the craphole it always was. read more

This location gets a bad rap because of the long lines that can plague this location at times. To be fair, this is something that occurs at ALL post offices, especially around the holiday season. This is a subsidized government institution, so yes, they will be understaffed and overcrowded at times, but if you want to wait less, then pay more with FedEx or UPS. I have to say that this location's staff have always been nice and helpful as possible under the circumstances, and I've gone there many times and experienced no wait at all. read more

I was expecting a package, so I checked its status online. "Out for delivery" three days in a row. And then -- heading back to the sender. See, the package required delivery confirmation, and the mail carrier couldn't get me to confirm the package, because that would have required him actually leaving his tiny car and speaking to a human. This is the absolute worst post office ever. Its like the Bermuda Triangle of post offices apparently. They have lost my birth certificate not once, but twice, mailed by certified mail and greatly greatly needed by me. They have lost countless packages ... never leave package slips and when they do there is no information on them. The carrier never attempts to deliver the packages, as the few times I have gotten slips, I was home at the time of "attempted delivery". Every time I go in to pick up packages, there are other ones there waiting for me that I was never notified of, one day I walked out of there with a trash bag full of packages ... not having gotten a slip for one of them. I also wish that I could give negative stars because this is just ridiculous. Its caused me serious problems - like almost being evicted from my apartment because my landlord never received my rent checks (he also lives in the same zip code) and now the loss of the only two copies of my birth certificate (which I will now have to pay $50 for another copy and wait 70 days for - when I needed it to apply for medicaid and welfare). Don't move into the area this post office services, its not worth it. Or get a PO Box in another zip code. I am horrified by this place and cannot believe that they get away with this ... I filed a complaint today and I hope that everyone who works there gets fired, and then loses their mail that will help them to get some financial help. Oh, and on the package slips it states that these are the hours: M-F 9:30am - 7pm/ Sat 9:30am-4pm .... HAHAHAHAHA ... then you get there and on the door it says that they close at 5:30pm M-F and 2:00 (I think) on Saturday ... We've found packages in left in puddles, our electricity was turned off because we never got a bill in the mail ... the people who work there are rude, dumb, and have no idea how to do their jobs. Our mail carrier barely speaks english and when I confronted him about all of the problems we were having he ran away from me. I could go on and on and on ... avoid this place at all costs. Really wish I had something different to post. But my problems echo everyone else's: 1) I simply don't get package slips, and the packages get sent back (or put in a black hole) before I realize that they're waiting for me in the PO. 2) I've had MAIL addressed to me just...returned to the senders. I probably wouldn't even know about that were it not for personal letters that my family and friends have received--returned to sender due to addressee not found. Not found???? I live here, you dopes. (Or, I get mail veeeery late: like that wedding invitation that arrived from Connecticut the exact same date that the bride's sister, who lives in Vietnam, received hers...) 3) One time waiting in line for a package (for which I got a slip!), the attendant went to lunch...without informing anyone. So bad I dont know where to begin. Because of so many bad experiences, I avoid USPS totally when it comes to package deliveries. Constantly loosing packages in the office. They will try to get you to leave and say the package is not there - so it usually takes 1-2 hours to convince them to look again. The packages are there, but their system is a failure. Almost every single customer is having issues. Lot's of yelling. Mail coming to my house is often passed to incorrect addresses. I receive other people's mail. They rarely leave redelivery notices. This post office really needs to get its shit together. Let's be real, receiving packages anywhere in NYC without a doorman is always tricky - but Williamsburg P.O. makes it 100x worse. In the past two days I've "missed" three packages that apparently attempted delivery... all at times when me and my two roommates were home, within ten feet of my apartment's buzzer. Nobody buzzed. and nobody left a pink or yellow slip. One of the packages actually says it was delivered. Funny! Cause it wasn't. I checked the entire perimeter of the building. I am giving this one star because giving 0 stars is not an option. Shipping packages using the USPS is the worst idea you can have. If there is another option, use it. The post office does not care if packages get anywhere on time and only care that the packages abide by their strict stipulations, if the package is one ounce over, they will return it to you. Or if it is in the wrong box (which I did not even know was possible), they will return it to you... and not give you a refund in order to take your business elsewhere. read more

For some odd reason, everyone at this office is still employed and thriving. In the real world, when you don't produce and mismanage, you're replaced. This USPS office is not the real world, and is a make believe land that works at their pace and there is no one and nothing that can stop them. Or I should say start them. Even after worthless, angry, pleading reviews and complaints, for some reason, its still a up and running establishment, and people are making a living and decent money in this 3rd world Postal office. This just so happens to be the holidays, but it doesn't change even in the middle of August, or I would maybe cut them a break. But this is every single day at this place, yet the government is just paying away for this, and actually supporting it rather than making changes and showing people what the real world is like, you know, where you actually work and produce and get things done. Now, this is ridiculous!! at least the other mailmen were nicer to deal with.. every single postal worker at the williamsburg loacation is just awful. rude, impolite, don't want to work nor do their job properly. refuse to deliver to anything other than 1st floor apartments, lose greeting cards (my family is scared to send me anything now). If you don't like your job that's your fault and you should do something about it. I was using yelp to find the closest Post Office and found this one. I noticed all the negative reviews and was like 'who writes a negative reviews of a post office?' That's like reviewing the DMV. It's a given it's going to suck right? Then I actually went here. Wow. It's not exactly hell but it sort of reminds me of the outer ring in Dante's inferno that is just outside of hell, were it is annoyingly hot and your get chased around by bees. I hate to beat a dead horse but this post office is a joke that isn't funny. If you are not at home all day, everyday, there's a 95% chance you will never receive your package. I've gone to the post office on multiple occasion to pick up packages that show they are there but no one can seem to find them. If will not file anymore missing package reports. I no longer trust any delivery to my house which is wildly inconvenient and a shame. If anyone knows of way to help fix this problem please respond as I am willing and ready. I have lived in this zip code for 4 years now. I regret when someone sends me a package and I have to try to retrieve it from the post office. Most often, they can never locate it and eventually it gets shipped back to the sender. It's just a mess there. Also, when I get mail in my mailbox, almost every day the letter envelopes are just shoved in and all messed up. Where is the integrity in delivering mail that is neat and orderly, especially when it is one a few letters. I understand when it is a lot of mail, but it really looks like the post person just does not take pride in doing a good job. Awful mail delivery. If the delivery people don't get through their deliveries for the day, they just mark off any mail they didn't get to as having 'no secure location' (how about my mailbox, USPS? Isn't that why we have mailboxes?) and that they left a notice. They never actually leave notices. Then you have to go pick up the package at the post office, because they refuse to reschedule delivery in the neighborhood. read more

Like every other reviewer, I wish I could give zero stars. Pretty sure this post office flat out stole my package. Said it was delivered in the mailbox, which is locked with a key. When I went to get it, it wasn't there, however there WAS another package I ordered. Strange how the envelope was there but not the Amazon package containing $100 bluetooth headphones. I've tried calling on and off for days, can't get anyone on the line. Their numeric "options" lead no where "Press 1 for... " "Invalid entry" "Press 2 for..." "Invalid entry." "Press 3 for.... I've witnessed today a customer being berated by a short fat Latino employer. Very unprofessional. He was shouting at her for today's date and only wanted to speak to her in spanish even though she was talking to him in English. He was way out of line and should leave the public service sector if he doesn't like working with the public. For me, of course, they couldn't find my package.
