If I were able to give this post Office zero stars, that would be a more accurate review of my experience here. I don't think I've ever received a package I've ordered without a hassle. It's amazing, they must be trying to lose people's mail because they are so awful at delivering it. The two stars here are for my favorite employee, Santa. She always helps me make the fastest and most cost efficient decisions, and cares more about what's "right" than what is convenient. Unfortunately, it seems as this USPS suffers from deadbeat management. Tragically understaffed during peak times, and always without proper paperwork. This station didn't have any customs forms for a few weeks due to a faulty re-order. My advice: prepare in advance. I have a whole stack of green customs forms sitting on my desk (from a DIFFERENT post office), but you don't even have to fill them out before hand - you'll have plenty of waiting time in the normal 15+ person line. read more

WORST WORST WORST post office ever!!! you can never go there without a snaking line, and when i tried the free pick up service for a return merchandise (our office has daily mail pick-up and delivery anyway), they wouldn't accept the package! it is within the size and weight limits, have tried this twice over the past week , strangely enough they've sent two email confirmations that the package has been picked up but of course it's still here! did i say WORST post office ever?!!! there should be a Yelp option for ZERO STARS! the 800 number for USPS is no help either, they have a script they are reading from ("oh, sorry you are experiencing this problem blah-blah but we can't help you you have to call the post office itself") - USELESS!!! read more

Absolute worst post office, ever! Period. My last 3 packages were never delivered to my apartment. Sure the tracking information says delivery attempted, yet there was never any notice on the apartment front door indicating that a delivery had been attempted. But wait there's more, I work from home so I am around all day. My buzzer never buzzed because the lazy sons of b*tches never even tried to deliver my package. I mean why should they when they can just mark their system as delivery attempted, right? read more

There are some nice and helpful people who work there. The problem is the managers there are belligerent. It's as if they take great pleasure in making sure your problem doesn't get solved. The window clerks have been give instructions from the managers that make no sense. One clerk told me that she could not scan any package that was not express mail for me. When I ask why she said "The manager said so." Oh? The manager sets USPS policy? What else does he do? Command a submarine? And if they miss a delivery and leave one of those dreaded pin slips? Just consider the item lost because only an idiot would sacrifice his/her mental health waiting on a line that moves about as fast as a dead dog on a summer day. Then there's all the locals kids running around. And the place is dirty And that big security camera that hasn't worked since Eisenhower was president. Phone? Are you kidding? I've been in this neighborhood more than 2 decades, and it has always been as bad as other reviewers say. This PO almost never leaves slips for undelivered packages, and recently it's only gotten worse, as they've decided to no longer attempt to deliver re-scheduled deliveries or even answer their phone. And I NEVER EVER mail anything from there, EVER! I always take it to Greenpoint or Cooper Station, both very good POs. Here's an example. There was one package from Amazon that they refused to deliver although I re-scheduled 3 times. I told Amazon it was probably going to come back to them because I couldn't pick it up, but Amazon was very confident that they could resolve it with a phone call. I wished them good luck. After a while, Amazon contacted me and said, "You're right, they don't even answer the phone!" That package was never delivered. Here's another one. I used to have a roommate who had a friend that worked at the 11211 PO for a while. The friend told him how shocked he was to find that the PO employees steal things out of the mail. So one time, my mother mailed some precious photos to me in a bright red birthday card envelope. When she told me this, I said, "Uh oh, Mom, someone at the PO here might think it's a child's birthday money from grandma, and steal it." Sure enough, I never got the photos. On the upside, they earn 1 star, since in over 2 decades, I've usually received my mail. read more

There was some confusion regarding a priority letter I sent to my mother. It had important information in it. Although it was a little difficult to contact someone early in the morning, when I did get someone in the afternoon it made up for it. Marvin, the supervisor, did something absolutely fantastic. I told him what had happened and he personally went to my mother's building, checked her mailbox and delivered the letter personally to her door! I am truly grateful. Once again, the loser mail guy that is supposed to deliver packages, does not. I had this problem 6 months ago, it got better and now I've had 4 packages returned to sender. They all registered as "delivered" or complete on the tracking. It's clearly the same guy as the other complaints. A very large middle age guy around 40ish. Kind of short and round. I've seen him around the neighborhood and he never gets out of the truck. grrrrrrr. He used to leave notes saying he buzzed and no one was home. But I'm always home since I work from home. The mail was not delivered on my block in New York City, Franklin Street between Varick and Hudson on Saturday, June 16. I called to complain but only got recorded messages about tracking packages. I was not calling about a package. No-one on my block had their mail delivered. At the end of the call instead of asking for my opinion of the service as the recording had said, the call was disconnected. I guess they didn't want to hear any complaints. I sent 70 wedding invitations from this post office on May 1. None of them have been received. (I sent another 50 on May 2, and all were received). My rent check last month never made it, despite the fact my landlord lives one block from this post office. A different rent check once arrived 3.5 weeks after the initial postmark. South Side Postal Storefront Also Not Recommended U.S. Postal and fed-ex services storefront at 442 Lorimer Street in Brooklyn, NY called Tiger Lily. I use them all the time, and thought it was better than the post office, but not after this happened. A man who operates the store began to get verbally abusive for no reason that seemed reasonable, and the owner was present and did and said nothing. I was asking questions about how to get my letter to New York City address via USPS in the quickest manner. He gave the answers too quickly to understand. He then took my letter, which already had a stamp on it, and stamped it. The clerk then began to get verbally angry, and when I left I suggested he have a little more courtesy for his customers, he then told me "to get the fuck out of his store: As I walked out of the store, he then took my letter and threw it out the door onto the ground outside, which is a federal offense, to tamper with U.S. Mail. When I told him I would report this to the Postal Service, he laughed. Most likely because he is counting on postal service to be incompetent, and he is right. There is not really a way to make a formal complaint. I did fill out an on-line form and never heard back. read more

I, too, signed up to vent and to try and give a fair review. I've lived near this PO for 10 years. I would give it 2.5 stars if I could. There are nice workers there (the Asian lady, the older African American guy with the glasses and the booming voice), I have had good experiences there, so those who say every worker is horrible is exaggerating. That's not helpful. That said, the place needs to improve. Drastically. Here's what's wrong with the place: --it's understaffed --Packages are never delivered when I'm home. I always get a pink slip but they never ring my buzzer. I complained a few times but clearly this is their MO . So if we can get the delivery guys to do their job, which our tax dollars are paying for, that would be a great improvement. --I also went there thinking it was still open till 7pm. It was closed with no hours stated on the roller door. That said I never before had a problem with them closing earlier than stated, and once the woman who was letting the last customers out with a key let me in to get a package. --Short on supplies --Painfully long lines for the main windows and package pick up. If you have to mail something and pick up a package they want you to wait in both lines. There's got to be a better way. --Sometimes people pick up the phone and are helpful when I call, other times no one picks up. It might help to remember that until recently this was an almost entirely low income, working class neighborhood. This is precisely what such areas are blessed with: shitty parks that turn into marshland when it rains, the most rundown train stations, trains with poor routes, painfully long lines at the bank and bleak-looking, poorly run post offices. Gentrification has improved things and I'm sure they will continue to improve to keep the incoming money happy. But at least now you know how it feels to be treated like the lower class. read more

I went to the post office and as usual, it is an absolute nightmare to get through that place. bullet proof screens separating them from the customer, garbage and dirt all over the place- what are the USPS people "protecting" themselves from?? no forms in the queuing area, so you have to wait in line for 20 mins to get the damn form, then they tell you to fill it out and -come back instead of just having the forms out in the queue area to save time= enraging@!!! also, when I go, i arm myself with a cooler for snacks, my own pens, and i bring my own customs forms so that i don't have to go through their terrible service. I HAVE also heard from several residents in the area- especially over christmas (myself included) that they were expecting parcels to be delivered, there was no slip ever delivered. I experienced this over and over, and every time I go to try and get the parcel at the window, it is a guaranteed nightmare wait, plus an apathetic look from the person behind the window- a "shrug" and half-assed attempt to look and the claim that your package is not there. I am contacting my representative. read more

after yet another undelivered time-sensitive package (had to find out from online tracking that a delivery was attempted, and a note was left, I guess some prankster stole this valuable note) I called the postmaster's office that another person (1k) had kindly posted, **********JOSEPH CHIOSSONE, Brooklyn Postmaster 718-348-3602************ Got through and got back a call in about 5 minutes saying package was waiting at window 6. I asked the person about the missing note, and suggested someone stole it and they should secure these notes they leave behind, maybe send it by registered post and make the person sign for it in person. He agreed to look into it. Everyone, please call the postmaster whenever a package goes missing or undelivered, I think they might fix the place once the volume of calls skyrockets. read more

The worst post office in America? Very possibly... The only competition is the one in Bushwick. Postmen don't deliver the package, you need to go pick it up... You need to wait in line 2 hours to get thru 4 people. You need to fix this organization. This is the reason people want to shit you down. Learn to think. Learn to do your job. WOW! I throughly enjoyed my stay at the williamsburg post office this morning/afternoon! I felt absolutely compelled to write a yelp review about it. See, I really wanted to hate this place, because I couldn't understand how the mailman who walks by me everyday at the same time, could miss me 5 days straight and then just give up, relinquishing the custody of my delivery to his employer. But upon entering this proudly decorated establishment, my frustration quickly turned to enthusiasm. I was immediately pleased to see an eclectic mix of 40-50 Hipsters, Hispanics and Hassidic's who, just like me, had nothing good or productive to do in their own life or job for the next 4 hours, all standing in a well orchestrated line. At first I was confused to see 16 different teller windows, but only 2 open. But then it began to make sense. How else were they going to trap these random strangers in here to enjoy the glowing happiness, grace and hospitality of its highly educated employees, for the good part of a full day? And the lines were awesome! I don't know why every single person in front of me was so disgruntled about the accommodations here. I'd think that they too were interested in overhearing conversations about the teller's family and problems. I was kinda guessing that this particular woman's kids needed to grow the f\/€k up, and that her baby's daddy couldn't speak to her like that! But thankfully she confirmed it. She also confirmed that after about an hour and a half of enjoyably waiting to get up to her window and seeing her unmistakable smile, up close, that I'd actually been waiting on the wrong line the entire time. Also that despite the fact that she recognized that I had already put in as much time as anyone, just standing in her establishment, she couldn't just simply walk over to the correct teller and ask him for my package. But whatever, that just meant I got to spend more time here! Upon arriving at the correct teller's window, about an hour later, I was greeted with what I would call an invigorating blend of disgust, and utter disregard for my needs. He asked all the right questions. When did I first get the pickup notice? What did the package look like? Am I sure that's the correct spelling of my last name? I was so close now, home stretch, baby! Overall, I would definitely return to this post office. But I'm deducting one star because, despite my having gotten the notice that same day, it was already returned to it's sender, and was non-refundable. read more

I've called numerous times to check on a package I had scheduled for redelivery. It is now two full days past the scheduled date, and when I call I get the voicemail system that, after telling me my party cannot be reached, tells me I can't leave a message because the voicemail box is full. People love to complain about the post office. Even factoring that in, this is easily the most incompetent, understaffed, and least helpful post office I've ever encountered. That extends past the walls of the post office itself, unfortunately -- I have the misfortune of being in the 11211 zip code and trying to get packages delivered. I can't count the number of times I've missed a delivery, filled out the redelivery form online... and then never gotten my package. USPS needs to give these people a better pay!! These people are extremely over worked and there's only so much they can do. At first I thought it was this place in particular. I've been doing my research and I have noticed that every post office with reviews say the same thing: packages are missing or mis-scanned. I think the bigger issue here is the higher up, (BIG shocker there). There isn't a proper protocol to follow which is why everything is a mess. USPS needs to get their act together because it's not a matter of just going to another service. There are businesses that just use the USPS and rely on their service. By having such horrible service, businesses lose money as well as the USPS, because the are required to pay for the missing items that are insured. WAKE UP AND SMELL THE COFFEE people. There has to be a way where their workers can speak up about this. This is a HUGE and upsetting problem that isn't going to get better if it's left alone. Don't try to call them. I was supposed to receive a package yesterday that has tracking. It didn't arrive. I tracked it, and it said it was out for deliver yesterday. Today it says "Delivery Status Not Updated." The mail has already come today, and no package. So I tried to call their local number. I reached a phone tree that gave me several options. I tried the most logical one first. That took me to a recording that said "Invalid selection" and shot me back to the whole initial recording with all its tedious details I didn't need to hear even the first time. I ended up trying every single extension that was listed by the recording. EVERY SINGLE ONE TOOK ME TO A RECORDING THAT SAID "INVALID ENTRY." I tried pushing "0" but that took me to a line where I was on hold forever and finally told by a recording that nobody was available to talk to me. I want to kill. read more

Sorry to complain but after going through the unhelpful USPS phone help menu that painfully drags on and on and only half the time understands my response and then to finally get a reference to real tech support person with approximately half hour wait times I am frustrated. Two or three times I had the option of a call back but after two rings USPS tech support hung up on me. Yesterday I was unable to get verified for the new online postal account. I got finally got through to tech support yesterday my question then was how to verify my identity which I tried and unsuccessfully tried but was unable to. The tech support person yesterday said I would have to verify in person. I went on.line to find the nearest station and found my local station listed but when I went in the desk agent said they couldn't do it yet but the main post office could. I went there and got verified. Whew! All seemed well then today just as I was leaving for traveling I was unable to get to 'hold mail' on line. All my verified information showed but the USPS computer was unable to find me in their data base. But until now I have been successfully using the old online 'hold mail' for at least two years. I have yet to talk to a real USPS person today. I'm frustrated! read more

what's the point in rating a government office that will never change, however i'm compelled to write a review of solidarity and to report my own personal woes with the 11211 post office. long story short, my mailman is too lazy to fill out a brown "sorry we missed you" slip, instead LEAVING PACKAGES ON OUR DOORSTEP. OUTSIDE. ON GRAND STREET. AYFS? i've been fortunate enough in the past to have come home with the packages still on my doorstep, or the mailman has had the thought to ring the doorbell to deliver the package to someone who is always home, but last week my latest package was indeed stolen from outside. when i called the post office, 'miss washington' got me in touch with my mail carrier, who is apparently union and rents his route out on various days (WTF?). when i told him that someone had been leaving packages outside again, he responded, "man, i told them not to do that anymore". THAT'S IT. i asked how to resolve the issue and miss washington said "they're adults, i can tell them not to do something but really i can't do much more than that". i'm completely stuck and am forced to find another address to ship packages to now. that and i'm in PO limbo trying to file a claim to recoup expenses. truly terrible. visiting the actual branch is another story completely, equally slow and inefficient. and it rubs off on the customers who are equally loud, rude, and stupid. So, here we are again. This is really just a place to vent. For years I have been dealing with this place. I have gone there in person several times, spoken to "managers", nothing helps. Today I spent 1 hour and 40 minutes waiting for my call to be answered on 1-800-ASK-USPS; finally had to hang up because I have other things I have to do. Yet another package marked as "delivered". The same day they marked it as "delivered" they left a notice in my mailbox saying they "attempted delivery", even though I was here all day, so apparently that "delivery attempt" did not go so far as bothering to ring my doorbell. If anyone is sending you something, and you have any way to convince them to use FedEx or UPS, I urge you to do so. Out of every 10 USPS package deliveries, there is a problem with at least 4 of them. A lot of our regular mail goes missing, and at least once a week I have to take my neighbors their mail, which was incorrectly delivered to me. I've been lodging complaints for over 5 years now, and it does nothing. The only advice I have is to avoid at all costs if at all possible. I wish you luck. read more

If you want to have your time completely wasted, visit this post office. I had scheduled an appointment two weeks in advance to process my passport application at this location. When I arrived for my appointment, no one was there to assist me. I was told by the sole clerk working to just wait and "maybe someone called out sick." There was no supervisor available for me to speak to either. I left after waiting 20 minutes, and my numerous phone calls to the facility later in the day went unanswered. When I called the main passport extension number, I was told I would just have to rebook another appointment which would not be available for another week at the earliest. That's a risk I'm not willing to take again. Apparently they tried to call the station to see what happened and their calls also went unanswered. DO NOT book an appointment here for a passport. I'll be trying a walk-in facility instead. read more

this is the worst post office , they continually send in attempt delivery notices for tracked packages without ever attempting delivery , i have lost a set of 700 dollar headlights, cloths totaling $150, 2 phone cases (all in 2015) ... i talk to the mail carrier and she told me that the people that work in the receiving are stealing stuff and are under investigation . dont know if its true , all i know is i get screwed by these people continuously and nobody is any help when you try to deal with it. try not to get usps if your in this hood , its dice roll .. read more

I get mail addressed to people in other parts of Brooklyn and when sent back after writing "wrong zip, wrong address" with a sharpie, it still comes back. I've had packages addressed to me sent back to shippers saying no one there by that name and I've been here 10 years. They are completely useless. So much for US gov't run operations. read more

this post office is horrendous. where to start... how about the fact that they DO NOT ANSWER THEIR TELEPHONE?! Or deliver your packages. i had to have a package redelivered. i followed the instructions left by the post office, called the 1800 number and had it set for the following day redeliver. they never came. then, i called again. the 1 800 number told me to go pick it up at the poste office (3 days after it was to be redelivered.) but to all frist to make sure they actually have it. so i call. 7 times in a row and no one picks up the phone. IS THIS A PALCE OF BUSINESS?? the customer service is horrible at best. complacent, unengaged workers who refuse to answer your questions, mumble, roll their eyes and act as if they are doing me a favor to put postage on an envelope. are they working for free? or do they have as little self respect for themselves as they do for their customers? there is absolutely zero accountability from the management or the workers. it's a pathetic place. i feel sorry for anyone who has to deal with this post office or it's rude employees. read more
