To apply for passport in this post office is the biggest mistake. First of all they are extremely slow and don't care about people that are waiting for 2-3 hours in the line. For large packages the carrier doesn't want to deliver they routinely leave "delivery attempted" notices forcing customers to pick up items at the post office. Online tracking shows date and when delivery "was attempted". Security camera footage at location shows that no letter carrier made such an attempt. Should you reschedule delivery it will promptly be cancelled and you will be notified that your package is at the post office available for pickup. Write to your postmaster to reduce this practice should you fall victim to this dishonest practice. read more

Will you have to wait anywhere from 1 1/2-2 hours?!? most likely. Will you make sure to form a single file line like the soup nazi on Seinfeld?!? Yes. Will you make the fateful mistake of crossing the yellow line in the lobby?!? Only in case you want the Filipino gentleman who is the Sergeant at Arms/Security Enforcement/Passport Photographer to yell at you. Bring a good book to read or play video games on your phone. If you want to people watch in the room that you are in, that looks like it has been redecorated since the 1940's, I guess it is a timeless classic. You probably used to be able to smoke in this room at one time. What a concept?!? I got a very sweet African American lady named Christine to help me, who was one of the three people there. There were five desks from the 1940's as well, but no more than two people helping you at the same time. Remember, this is the post office, who needs efficiency. Christine looked over my paperwork and looked at very scrupulously and suspiciously like I was trying to get one over on here. I guess she must have pulled something up from the FBI or CIA files or watches my web browsing. Anyways, she said that the one thing is that people often over complicate the process. If you follow the rules and do what she says, then you shouldn't seem to run into any issues. You should probably get the passport in three to five weeks for regular and two weeks if expedited. It was an interesting way to spend the afternoon to say the least. Get ready to take a step back in time. Parking is abysmal and horrific. I was lucky to get a space in front of the YMCA two blocks away. I think you have as much luck as getting a parking spot, as you will as smoking in the passport office if you want to. The good thing is it will be about ten years until I have to do this again which is the best part. I am hoping by then it becomes more electronic or less time requirements, but again it is the USPS and State Department we are talking about here. I was already exacerbated and had been through a colonoscopy trying to use a passport renewal service earlier, that was a cluster no matter what I did. I drove out from West LA to this Glendale location because it was the only one that had an appointment available when I needed it. Few things to keep in mind. First, get to the location with enough time to find parking. It's either meter or two-hour parking where you find it. I got there with plenty of time and found parking nearby right away. Second and most important one needs to make an appointment. Otherwise, you will not be seen. There is signage as to where to go for passports as well as a designated "line starts here" postings. A USPS representative will take people inside in groups. Just wait and someone will come out explain the process and start calling out the names of the individuals with appointments. People said they found the staff to be rude. I found them (three of them) to be courteous, professional, and civil. I don't need super happy go lucky smiley people. I'm looking for people to do their jobs in a quick efficient manner and that's what they were all doing from what I saw while I was there. Come prepare. Make copies of all your documents. It makes the process go faster. One can pay for passport, USPS fee and a money order right there with them with either a debit card or cash. No credit cards. For such a great beautiful old building this place sure sucks. I came here to submit paperwork to renew my daughters passport. Well the ice cream ticket taker number machine was almost worthless. It took forever! So yeah the passport line really sucked. It was just a never ending trial in patience. They also have no chairs or benchs so you are forced to stand or sit on the floor for hours... It doesnt help at all that you can hardly hear the workers when they call for the next number. There would be a huge improvement to have an electronic sign showing down the hall what number that they are on as well as perhaps having more than one window open when there are 30+ families waiting in line. *SMH* Customer service is not a highpoint with the USPS anymore... cest la vie... The building was built in the old style with granite and marble. Archetecturally speaking it is gorgeous. Due to the materials used it is also very cool on a hot day. Pro Tip: ohhh yeah if you are here working on your passport stuff, anticipate a 3-6 hour wait on a saturday *grumbles*. You can pay the charges via a check and or credit card at least. They did not kick out those waiting for passport stuff at 3 when they closed the doors, but let the other postal workers, finally work on passports as well. Wouldnt it have been smart to instead of say having those people doing nothing or having a line 1-2 people deep, maybe ummmm put 1 more worker on the passport line which was on average 25 families deep? Just sayen, that may have been a better plan, but i guess they just love all the board screaming and upset kids. ahhhhhhhhhhh Parking is a pita as well... but on the western side they have free 2 hour street parking available. Just be forewarned, 2 hours wont be long enough for the line and you will have to move your car or you will get a ticket. At least the regular postal workers are nice, however the whole situation involving passports is ridiculous and needs to be rectified. read more

*Passport* I came to apply for my first passport. I took my photo elsewhere because I want aware they could take your photo inside. You don't need an appointment which is nice. It can be confusing when you enter this place because it is big, don't wait in line. Proceed to the Passport door and enter the room, take a number and then wait. I waited about 30 minutes. The person who helped me was so sweet, I brought all my required documents so it only took about 5 minutes!! They accept debit cards, and cash. I parked in the lot across the street. Only 75 cents for an hour parking. Pay using a debit card. read more

Came for passports last week at 11:30am and they weren't even taking anymore people because it was so over crowded. You have to line up before they even open at like 7:30am, which is what we did today. Please have everything ready to go including your pictures (which you can get done at Walgreens in less than ten minutes). Seriously. This whole process is held up by people not coming prepared. Not cool that everyone behind you is having to wait for you to get your pictures taken and your forms filled out (which you can print out online at home). Not fun at all. There's gotta be a better way to get this done :/ read more

Welps. I ended up receiving 30 of my 32 boxes. One of the 32 boxes was repackaged with missing books. I've attempted to contact the post office of origin to speak to the manager to retrieve. One box had very personal work documents that I spent almost 68 dollars including insurance to receive Another box which was insured were my favorite books. They are books I've had in my library for many years and as a stipulation of the insurance...they want to see receipts. They didn't disclose that as a requirement when I purchased insurance. Who on Earth keeps receipts for each book they purchase. I'm calling a FOUL. read more

Classic, historical building with beautiful old school charm. Awww, the Glendale Post Office! Having grown up in Glendale, I've been to this location quite a few times. There is a convenient drive-thru mail drop in the back and the workers are polite. Its also a large building to accommodate large crowds. The Glendale Branch is one of the few Post Offices in the LA Area that offer full passport services...application, renewal, pictures, everything. Since not all locations offer it, I was relieved to know this one did since I was going to be in the area. I went in last week to renew my expired passport. I'm going to document my reminders here so hopefully in a decade when it's time to renew it again, I will remember! Oh, and to come in handy for you too! :-) 1) Download, print, and fill out the application BEFORE going! They don't have the forms out, which means you have to stand in line just to get an application, step aside to fill it out, then get back in line to submit and process it. 2) Payment is by check or money order only. If you have your debit card, the post office can do a money for you...for an additional fee of course. Just bring your checkbook and leave the credit cards at home. 3) Bring your old passport if you're renewing it. You can't proceed without it and it needs to be mailed in with your application. 4) There is only 1 window (and 1 worker!) for all passport services. Be prepared to wait a while even if the line is short. Especially if you're behind someone like me who also needs to have their picture taken too! **smile** 5) The lady told me it takes about 5 weeks to get your passport with standard service. 2 weeks (and an extra $50!) to expedite it. Plan and be prepared to pay accordingly. That's all folks! Now go out and use those mileage points and explore the world! UPDATE: I submitted my renewal application on Fri Nov 29th. Exactly 3 weeks later my new passport arrived on Dec 21st. Much faster than I expected and that was NOT with expedited service. Woohoo I can officially board the plane to Trinidad now!!! read more

I went back to this office at 6AM on a Saturday and the service was not as bad as my 1st experience. This is not really a reflection of this location's business or their workers. I see that the USPS staff at this location is working very hard. So the reason for my revised review is that I wanted to be fair. So is a reflection of a bad planning on the USPS management and the passport procedures. First off, fix your listings on the internet because I have 3 conflicting information on when the office opens. Okay don't give me excuse like "because we are the passport office not the USPS". Create another listing with a slightly different label like: 313 E. Broadway, Passport Entrance and POST your darn hours there. You need to turn down applicants that DO NOT have paper work ready. Make these people fill out paper work in front not blocking the waiting times because there are others who are abosolutely ready and the only thing they need is to drop the application and have your staff look at my face and say yes, the ID match or both parents are present and they are present. The documents and evidence are there and pay the fee and GET OUT. read more

PASSPORT OFFICE Was really worried about a several hour ordeal to get our kids passports renewed...yes, you have to bring kids and parents and do this in person instead of online. We arrived on a Tuesday at 1:30 with kids in tow (had to take them out of school a bit early) but got everything done including a photo that needed to be retaken in about 45 minutes or less! I think our timing was excellent because the truly helpful people who work there told us it's usually packed. Helpful hints: Try a random weekday afternoon Avoid Saturday, mornings and noon rush Don't come on Thursday - they are closed Get your passport photo here - it was easier and cheaper than going to FedEx first Bring a BLACK pen if you've not already filled out the forms - they'll make you redo BLUE ink. There is 2 hour free street parking on the East side of the building They accept debit cards Go to Porto's afterward...it's only about 5 blocks away! read more

This is about passports only: got up at 530 am on a Saturday. Arrived by 615. Five people were already in line. The pictures shows the line just before the 7am opening and again once they opened up and let us in. Tips: make sure your application is in black ink only. Also: They make a copy of your drivers license front and back so it might be good to have that with you ahead of time... If you don't they will charge you one dollar to copy your license! Out of the five people in front of me half of them either had filled out their application in the wrong color ink and were rejected or had forgotten their drivers license or some other thing that they needed to get their passport. Make sure you are fully prepared with everything when you arrive! Once we got inside after a five minute wait in line we were brought into the passport room and processed and out of there and done in eight minutes. I was back in my car by 725. It sucks to get up this early on a Saturday but clearly this is the only way to get it done. Good luck! read more

First off, this review is wrong when it says it is open until 3 on Saturdays. I just came back from there to see they changed their hours until 2 on Saturdays. Please take note. I have had no issues once I get in the Post Office except slow workers and lines but to have a United States Post Office with ONLY 3 curbside parking spots is ridiculous!! If those 3 spots are taken, good luck! The lot next to it doesn't allow Post Office parking and there's literally no other street parking available near there. The lot next door is empty most of the time. It would behoove the Post Office to rent out a row of parking spots for their patrons. They would get more business. Isn't that what they want???! I loathe going to the Post Office in general because, well, government workers take their bloody time and you've seen it demonstrated at the DMV as well. You will soon get to have it demonstrated in your "Affordable (Non-Affordable) Healthcare Act" when you go to the doctor but you end up dying a horrible death in the waiting room because they've taken so long. read more

My review is regarding the post office passport service . I went in (Tues) early. I was out early as well. I think they open at 8 but I went in at 9a and was out before 10a. There were 3 desks processing applications. When you first enter there is a foyer, and a person at the desk that you have to check in at. If there is no one there you should wait there. They will check your application and necessary documentation and pictures. I wandered in and out a few times before the person who man's this desk went back. She was doing something else and saw me go in and out. I had to ask someone sitting there if there was a line and what to do. That was kind of annoying. I would have given the whole place and process five stars but the staff although coldly efficient seem slightly condescending and distinctly unfriendly. Overall , the process was luckily for me fast ! FYI - Even though the post office is closed til whatever time they open, there is a side entrance and a side office that processes the passports open early. Park across the street or anywhere you find parking. PS I got my passport pictures at WALGREENS !! it was like 12 dollars and they are very good at it. Walgreens usually opens early like 8a or earlier and you can get them on your way to the post office ....there is a Walgreens close by to this post office. Google the address. I never thought I'd write a review for a post office... But what else was I to do but script this in my head as I waited and waited and waited and waited... The line was only 5 people long when I got there, but it took FOREVER!!! The Armenian woman right behind me couldn't help but breath heavy with anger as we waited and waited and waited, and the Chinese woman right in front of me couldn't help but curse under her breath as we waited and waited and waited... We stood there watching three postal employees taking what seemed to be forever and moving incredibly slowly with seemingly so little regard for the time of the people standing on line... Yes, patience is a virtue, and I had ample time to practice it, but with 10% unemployment, you'd think service in this country might be better, as I'm sure there are plenty of people ready to step into positions of employment. I hope it just so happened to be this day... but I learned my lesson... stick to my normal branch in Atwater Village. read more

This post office REALLY does accept walk-ins for passport applications unlike the Glassell Park post office which says on their website that they accept walk-ins from 10 a.m.-1p.m.- but really don't! We should have came here from the get go. Clerks were pleasant and very helpful. We were in and out within 2 hours for 4 passport applications for myself and family and the place was somewhat full. There were 2 -3 clerks on a Saturday handling applications and kept things moving which was pretty cool! Super helpful and very friendly helping me get everything in order for my passport. Went to 3 different post offices prior who all gave me the run around but they were incredibly friendly and helpful here. Most other post offices in the area require an Apointment or don't do passports at all. I was able to walk in and within 40 min had everything turned in, paid for, and with a track able receipt. For those of you needing a passport....do not, I say again DO NOT come to this post office, on a Saturday anyway. I came there just before they opened and I was already 28-30 people deep in line. My entire time there....5 hrs. Most of the time they only have one person processing the apps and taking the pictures. However the long wait times are not completely the employees fault. There are alot of applicants that come unprepared. I saw many people come in and fill out the applications there. The application is 6 pages, 4 of which are instructions on required documentation that needs to be submitted with the app. So if a person is filling out the app there at the office, it's doubtful they will have what they need. The application is available on line at the State Dept website. You can even fill it out and print it. If more people did that the wait times would be shorter. Parking also is pretty bad. No free lot. Unless you luck out and get one of the free 2 hr only street parking spots all u have is meters or a pay lot across the street. Best advice..get your passport needs taken care of at least 4 or 5 months in advance. There are offices that go by appointment but the ones I checked into only have appointments next month. read more

They make you wait FOREVER and have NO BATHROOMS!! No food or water allowed either. Came here with two kids 10 and under and had to wait over an hour making trips outside for snacks and water and walking to a private commercial business to use THEIR restrooms. This post office looks nice from outside but it has less accommodations than a prison, although it looks very much like a jail and feels like one while you're inside of it. No wonder employees "go postal." Terrible dystopian example of your tax dollars working against you. Lady who checked us out and handled our paperwork was very nice though. Will be back! read more

This is hands down the BEST post office I've experienced. Came here for my passport and everything was super easy, fast, no fuss or even a long line. Today mailing a very important out of state package, I needed to completely customize a box size and Amanda at the front cashier was completely patient, accommodating with my tape fumbling and friendly. Cannot say the same among other post offices in Hollywood or Pomona or Laverne. Certain businesses deserve good reviews regardless if they are "known" for public service. Visited for passport on Saturday afternoon. There was a line to get a number ticket then wait on the hallway about one hour and 40 min to get in the room. Waited about 20 more min in the room. There were 4 people working and processing time was quick. A lady who helped us was nice and friendly. You also have to pay service fee $25 to usps. I parked at the parking structure 2 blocks away costed $2. Since I knew it's going to take long, it was not so bad. read more

Scheduled a passport appointment for Thursday 4/29 since I have lost the confirmation email that I printed. Called the post office to verify the appointment and now according to the recording they are not even open on Thursdays or weekends for passports. And I was next in line. Maybe she sensed I was panicking but she announced that we would be sent back in line if we didn't have everything ready. This location and employees suck for getting a passport. It took 2 months to get an F'ing appointment online, but because I was on time and not early to my appointment Mr. "following the rules" Juan Lopez would rather argue about me not being early than help get people their passports.
