This my first review of a....post office... but here we go: Waiting in line is the worst; everyone agrees with this (I assume). At a grocery store or wherever else a line is formed, more clerks/cashiers will come to the aid and open a new station to get through the line. Such is not the case at this establishment. In fact, there was an individual at the register not making eye contact with us and certainly not eager to help, and another person who consistently stepped away from the desk, and not in a sense to help a customer, but after helping someone they would step away so the next person in line can feel like a chump that much longer. The final rock star was a drone (see my tip) who said no words, wore no expression, and simply extended her hand for things. I handed her my ticket, she walked away in silence, came back with my box and dropped it onto the counter (she didn't set or place it). After any potential glass in the box had been broken, without a sound she extended her hand again apparently for my ID, then scanned it with her eyes and noticed the names matched. She handed it back and slid over the box, and I handed her a misdirected piece of mail I received, and as I started to explain that they don't live there anymore, she interrupted and said "Ok, thank you" so I just walked away. Maybe she was just running out of batteries? I'll give iHer the benefit of the doubt, I just hope she plugged in when she got back to her domicile. I didn't give 1 star because without the USPS I wouldn't have a coffee grinder amongst other things. However without the USPS I also wouldn't have 750 coupons a week for new siding or gutters. I gave 2 because this could be an off day; probably not. But that extra star will act as good hope that somewhere out there, someday, a person like you or me, have received--or will receive--good service from an employee here. I apologize for the rant, I just dislike feeling like I'm inconveniencing someone when I need them to do their job. They know exactly what they sign up for when they submit the application. They had numerous opportunities to back out during the interviews/background checks/drug tests/other government procedures for employment. I guess in retrospect it's my fault. I decided to live in an apartment, requiring me to go to the post office to pick up anything larger than a magazine. So if I hadn't moved in, I wouldn't have had to go to the post office, and I wouldn't have met the robot woman, and this rant-review wouldn't exist. Yeah, that's on me.... TL;DR: Prepare yourself to wait in line and have everything you need readily available, but don't bring your personality because it wont compute. read more

Cant even give them one star. My regular carrier is the best, but when she is not there or in vacation, its the worst service. This a business and we always have mail to go out, they dont come in to pick up mail when our regular carrier is gone! We haven't had anyone come in last 2 days . They had one person behind the counter and I waited 15 minutes to pick up a book of Stamps. I saw there were other individuals in the back, but no one came to help despite a line going out the door. When I got up to the front, the lady answered the client questionnaire for me rating herself the top score (the green smiley face). When I told her that was my client questionnaire to answer, she proceeded to argue with me and then tried to take my receipt away. She said her name was Choi and she was of Asian descent, but I don't think she was being honest. Very bizarre, unpleasant and unprofessional experience. Who does this?! read more

Looked dumbfounded that there was a money order or how to cash it. Rude - asking me why I didn't use the Schaumburg post office instead of theirs. What business is it of yours where I go? My husband and I had a negative experience with the staff regarding a package that has been sent to the wrong facility. I spoke w Brady, who was very unprofessional. I'm still remaining positive that the package will arrive as promised. I received a call this am from Marcus apologizing for the inconvenience . The second most annoying things about moving form a house to an apartment is that half the sh*t the post office delivers to me doesn't fit in the damn mailbox. The first most annoying is that I'm home all f*cking day, pretty much everyday of the week and could easily take that package off their hands, but because they only give about 2-seconds between the time they ring my bell, to the time they haul ass out of there, I've never been able to even make it a single flight down the multiple levels of stairs in order to run and catch him and it's because of this that I end up having to head to the post office to to pick the package up and then courier my crap back myself. This location, depending on days and times, can get pretty backed up and there appears to only be two, older women working there no matter when you go. The line backs way up past the door and moves slow as molasses, but just a word to the wise, those tiny little women working behind the counter might as well be cold and hardened criminals. They ain't taking sh*t from no one. So have your sh*t together, know what your purpose of being there is and don't ask unreasonable questions. These are government workers in a sterile-ass post office who are likely paid the bare minimum amount to tolerate people who forget to put stamps on envelopes or any address at all before before they dropped it in the mailbox, and then expect the post office to dig through everything 3-days after the fact and find it for them (true story by the way). From my many experiences here I've noticed that things are a bit slower on Wednesdays and you should never, under any circumstances go during the last tow or first two days of any given month. It'll just be you behind 10,000 people with a cornucopia of complaints regarding a bill that the postal service "lost", that's due or already past due and now their life is over and they want the postal service to reimburse them or write them a note for their collectors... because, ya know, the post office works just like having a doctor's note when you miss class. read more

Even if you only go to the post office every once in a while, its worth knowing that this is a post office with short lines and generally pleasant staff. In my half dozen visits, I have never waited in line more than five minutes and only interacted with one bad apple. All the other staff were really nice! Oh and bring your own pen, as the ones out there never seem to have ink. this is the second time the water bill has been lost and my daughters insurance papers were sent out 11-2-22 and here it is 11-15-22 what gives. The heads over there are the laziest people. it's bad when you get your mail at times after six P.M. The little guy has to work their overtime first and then they can go out and deliver the mail. A vendor sent a package to me at my old address so I came to the post office to ask that they pull it from the carrier's truck and hold it at the post office for me to come and pick it up. Ina Private sector business this would be a trivial request but not at the USPS apparently. I went to the trouble of printing out a sheet with all relevant info and a standing request to contact me when I could collect the package. I am now on my fourth in person visit because the phone tree is almost useless if you want to talk to a human. Each trip I talk to a supervisor who promises to get back to me with no results. On this visit while the supervisor was looking for my package one of the clerks found it on the shelf and brought out me. The folks were courteous enough so I'm giving 2 stars rather than 1, but this should not have required 4 visits. read more

If you can, avoid using this post office. The workers here act as though they work in a ghetto of some inner city area. They make you feel as though you are in a well-fare line. We had our law firm P.O. Box shutdown by these morons despite being paid on time. When trying to resolve the issue, the manager and Shayla, a worker of Indian origin, were so incompetent, insulting, and defensive. We ultimately decided that, notwithstanding the rude and obnoxious demeanor, their operations and employees could not be trusted. We no longer maintain a PO Box here and avoid this location. read more

This must be an awful place to work as everyone is RUDE. Both the employees in the office as well as the postmen are both unfriendly and unprofessional. This is not a current phenomenon as I have been living in Hoffman Estates and used this post office for over 30 years and it has not changed in all that time. What I find weird is the employees at the schaumburg post office on schaumburg road are just the opposite. They are nice as can be and go out of their way to help you. Go figure. read more

I have never had a problem walking into this branch of the post office. Everything runs smoothly and they try to do a good job. However, never try and phone them. After you've run the digital gauntlet of worthless phone option menus and waste 10 minutes getting to the selection you want, you click in thinking you're just about to get helped and hear that the waiting time to talk to a person is one hour and twenty minutes to one hour and forty minutes. This is a local branch of the post office, and if they're that ineffective, they should be de-funded immediately. This is my taxes at work? If so, how do I fire them? I would love to hear if anybody has shared a similar experience with the US Post Office? read more

Typical slow service due to understaffing. There were six people in line yet only one employee was handling orders. He was friendly enough, but this is highly inefficient for people who are in a rush. And to think these people want to raise stamp prices while not doing anything about the service. read more

I've had some great experience with having to solve some matters there(my mistakes), and the management team of Russel and Kenneth have been excellent in their support. I have lived in Hoffman Estates for over 40 years and use the local post office regularly. I particularly like the lobby kiosk option for weighing and posting packages. However, for a number of months, the scale has been broken -- registers weight even though nothing is on it -- so it is difficult to check whether I have enough postage on my envelopes/packages and I end up waiting in line for counter service. I have notified the postal staff at this facility of the issue a number of times, but the scale is still in disrepair. It would be helpful to both customers and staff if a notice could be placed on/near the scale regarding the fact it is broken and including when a repair can be expected. I'm hopeful that will occur sooner rather than later, so I don't have to drive to the Schaumburg post office for all my future mailings to use the kiosks there. read more

I would give 0 stars if possible. Worst post office I have ever been too. Slowest service. Always a line no matter what time of day. Only 1 or 2 counters open. The manager (Latoya or something like that) was extremely rude to me over the phone and in person when I had to report a problem with my mail carrier. The Mail carrier was leaving packages OUTSIDE my condo building (not even inside the vestibule) without calling me first. She denied that that was possible and would not let me explain. Currently there are about 15 people waiting and the line has not moved in 5 minutes. There is absolutely no sense of urgency with the employees. They walk around extremely slow like they have nothing to do. When I left today the line was out the door. It's a good thing that they don't get paid based on their performance. read more

Friendly staff, even at 10 there is no crowd. Not as helpful as the Schaumburg Post office.

I was supposed to get a bracelet in the mail on October 9. I was very excited, tracked the package all day, and the package never came. The tracking said "exception" and "waiting delivery scan". I gave it about a week before I called. The man I spoke with assured me that he was going to speak with the carrier and call me back the next day. Never got a call. A few days later, I called again. This time a woman gave me the same story. She promised me a call later that day, and not surprisingly, the call never came. On Saturday I showed up at the post office and waited for quite some time to speak to the supervisor, Mike, who assured me he was looking into the matter and promised me a call on Monday. No call. I called to check up and was told that there's three other homes in Hoffman Estates with my same address(how is that even possible?) and that they were working on it. Called today and the woman I spoke to(never once did the supervisor ever call as promised) told me that the package has been marked as lost and that it's out of their hands. This is completely unacceptable. Now I am out the money I paid for my package and the people who lost the package refuse to acknowledge any responsibility. read more

I called asking if a letter that was attempted to be delivered to me was still at the post office since, you know, the policy is to hold is for 10 days. If I could give negative stars I would. I was tracking a package that was supposed to deliver and to my delight it showed that it was delivered in my mailbox. Then to come home and find out it was never dropped off. My GF at the time was home and saw the mail lady come and went out right after she left. Guess what, no package and even told me she saw the mail lady leave with a package in her hand. I called the day of and was told I would get a call tomorrow. So I waited and waited and still never got a call. So I had called back the following day and was told the mail lady was off that day and they would call me the next day. So I patiently waited again and never got a call. Finally called back later in the day and talked to TaNeisha who then told me there is nothing they can do because the mail lady said she dropped it off. This is after me calling 5 times and leaving multiple messages with supervisors mind you. This Post Office seems to have thieves and dishonest mail carriers working for them. So now either myself or the seller is out of money Oh and the best part...this isn't the 1st time this has happened either It doesn't surprise me the USPS is going under and the sooner the better. I would select "0" stars if there was such a choice for USPS in Hoffman Estates, Illinois, mail delivery manager, Tanisha. I put my mail delivery on hold for 3.5 weeks using USPS system on line. Putting mail on hold on line requires extra payment, it is not a free option, but it gave me a USPS confirmation number as an evidence of my hold with the dates from-to when my mail would be on hold. Within a week of my mail being on hold it went off hold for some unknown reason. My neighbor noticed the mail in my mail box and called my family to do something about it. My family went to the Post Office to talk to the manager about the problem. They presented the printout of my USPS mail hold confirmation number with the dates the mail supposed to be on hold. The manager, Tanisha, did not even look at this document, was extremely rude and unprofessional. Her answer was that it was not my family mail on hold and she would do nothing about it. And my mail kept coming every day while it supposed to be on hold. My family went to talk to Tanisha three more times and every single time, the reaction was the same, rude, unprofessional, not willing to admit the problem, not willing to resolve the problem. She never looked at the document, did not write down the USPS mail hold confirmation number to check what happened and why it happened. This is the service I got From USPS in Hoffman Estates, Il, for which I paid extra money. There was no apology from Tanisha nor the confirmation of error and a total unwillingness to correct the problem. I decided to write this unfavorable review because it is not the first time it happened. Last year I had to put my mail on hold for a month. I used the yellow form which I dropped at the post office. My mail was never stopped, never put on hold, kept coming for the entire month. The management at the post office said that I never put mail on hold and I did not have evidence to prove it otherwise. This is why I decided to pay extra money to put my mail on hold using USPS on line system. This time it did not work either but at least I have an evidence of mail hold and can go further to make sure that the management problem in Hoffman Estates USPS is understood and corrected. read more
