Oh, my bad for walking into this government owned building to ship something, i didn't know it was that hard to help customers out. It was empty during lunch hour, and I can clearly see why...I walked in to ship returns overseas and overheard the other worker just yelling back at a poor lady who was just clarifying an answer. The guy I dealt with was rude and have NO customer service skills. I didn't have my package taped because usually the usps office I go to had packing tape. He was like " next time bring your own tape, and HOLD ON i'm writing this address first,." He had a plain nasty attitude and typed with 1 finger. Gtfo outta here bro, and maybe try the rainbow disposal job where you aren't in contact with anything that suits you except trash. Friendly staff. Whenever I have been there, the lines aren't that big. And I get pretty good service from Cindy and the staff there. Go there after lunch time and before closing to avoid the rush. Some customers suck up a lot of time because they aren't ready and just have too many questions. What can the postal employees do? When I ask my mail to be held, they deliver it. I returned home from a week's vacation with my mailbox stuffed to the brim, even though I had written on my yellow "hold" card that I WOULD PICK UP MY MAIL after my return( In case I was delayed due to weather. ) I did not want mail stuffed into my mailbox because I knew that criminals could see the situation and break into my home! Even the police via phone conversation who checked my home asked me if I was having my mail held ( on my vacation-check form ) ....I said "yes", therefore they now know that the Post Office, by NOT HOLDING my MAIL, may make their jobs harder due to more break-ins. When I ask for my mail to be delivered, they hold it! I have made two trips up to the Post Office to fix this problem and restart delivery of my mail. The person I spoke to was YOUNG, VERY NICE AND EAGER TO HELP and seemed as though he was going to fix my problem, but somebody, I think, he works with MUST BE THE PROBLEM. My problem was supposed to be passed on the the manager of Bay II, but either the manager did not get my request for help or has decided to not help me. Where is my mail? It has been 6 days since I stopped at the Post Office to fix this problem to requested that my mail delivery be resumed. No service. Right now, I would rate this Post Office as ZERO, because I am getting ZERO of my mail. I will need to make a third visit.... This is the third time I have gone on vacation IN THE PADT 3 years, AND experienced THIS SAME PROBLEM! This is not a FIRST-TIME problem. In my opinion, THREE STRIKES AND THEY ARE OUT! This has caused my bills to go missing in the past. I have also had BANK statements go missing... Oh! And by the way, there was a box at my doorstep that belonged to NOT ME, but to one of my neighbors two houses down and across the street. WHAT if this box had contained medicine? Pretty cool they now offer signing services to receive UPS-type packages for you. This is something that has never been possible before. Pretty smart though to offer more services...USPS better keep doing more since they are in dire financial straits as far as a business goes. Oh yeah, and watch out! If you're coming here to drop off **Pre-paid** certified mail, DO NOT come here if it's busy. Go to the Murphy USPS location. They don't allow you to skip the 30 minute line to spend 3 seconds at the counter getting your stamp. Honestly a waste of time. At the Murphy location, you're permitted to skip lines to drop off your mail because the transaction is so minimal. Go there!! I was quite agitated that I had to wait in line for literally 400 times the amount of time I spent at the counter. What a horrible trade off. read more

Maybe I'm opinionated, picky or both, but this post office is a royal pain! They deserve infinite negative stars! I understand that the staff is inundated with a bunch of UCI students, some who may be cheap, ignorant or unfamiliar with the postal system. I'm also aware that the faciliites are small, especially because the majority of it is dominated by PO boxes. However, this does not give them an excuse to: 1) have only 2 types of Priority boxes, excluding flat rate. The normal selection contains about 5 or so (maybe more). I'm guessing that the majority of students probably ship books or the like, but seriously, can they stock the normal small wallet-sized boxes that every other post office (including express) has? I was surprised and offended to find out that they only carried two types of boxes. I normally visit the little stations inside pharmacies which are express post offices and they are always in stock and available. 2) be rude as can be. I am not rude. I may not be exuberant and jolly, but I am polite. I said "hi," smiled and even thanked her. She was curt, sarcastic and quite frankly, dwelled on the fact that there was a line. I'm sorry there's a line but that's not my business/issue/problem/whatever. IF the entire staff here is tired of postal work, then go get another job where they don't have to interact with anyone else but their own lonely souls. I hated retail and customer service, so as soon as I graduated, I found an office job. It's not rocket science logic, people. 3) not have stationery supplies like tape and permanent pens available to the public. Just an FYI, when you ship Priority or higher, the box and tape should free. Let me repeat, FREE. I mean, you're paying over $4.60 to ship, so the USPS will comp you the cost of supplies. One postal worker (at another place, of course) was so nice that she even gave me part of her newspaper to use as packaging material. I'm not looking for that kind of attention, but at least the stuff your employer said they provided. Ugh. I'm not coming back here again ever! I am only going to the Tustin Pharmacy one and the other pharmacy location at Culver and Walnut. Despite the likelihood of there being long lines, I actually don't mind coming here because the workers are friendly and even one of them swears that she remembers me (I come in every blue moon!). It seems as if my package was never properly delivered OR EVEN SHIPPED from this location. It was sent under a two-day priority mail and has not yet arrived at its destination. I can handle delays due to weather, weekend, or holidays. But shipping a small package from Irvine to San Diego should not take more than 2 days. I think it would have been better to just pay a taxi driver to send my mail 80 miles. At least there would be some sort of accountability with a taxi driver. The online tracking tool was not helpful and the phone customer service is non-existent. If the number was disconnected and a dead end it would be more helpful than that automated service. If the USPS is wondering why they are slowly going out of business. It is not the introduction of email or web-based services. It is not even the 'problem' of employee retirement. It is because they lack customer service and customer care. I will no longer be using USPS for my shipping needs. I will gladly eat the cost of the $70 stamp book I bought at the beginning of the year if it means never using USPS again. read more

This is a tricky one, because some of the employees are the NICEST people, but others border on impersonal and/or mean. Both times that I have been here, I've dealt with at least one amazing and super helpful person, and one difficult or unaccommodating person. I will say, like other reviewers, that there is a super long wait at this site, but honestly, it's small and servicing a giant campus. It took me almost 1 hour to mail out my package!!!! really? Waiting in a line was not the issue I'm talking about. When I brought my box to the window and the staff asked me to fill out the forms and return to the front of line when i'm done. After filling out the forms and I got assisted by another staff. I was told by this lady staff that my box was too big and needed to fold few inches in. (The box was purchased in the USPS office) Why the first staff never mentioned this when I was first in a line?! Bring the heavy box in and out was not easy for an pregnant woman! "Postal Service Ends Fiscal Year 2011 with $5.1 Billion Loss" I saw on the news while at the gym and I wondered why but I definitely got a first hand experience when i went to this station. Clerk : 03 should be fired! Petite woman, with glasses, curly dark hair, couldn't make out the accent but she was very rude and condescending. I told her I wasn't familiar with what box I needed and what I needed to do. I already paid and printed out a label online but I chose the wrong size box. To make the long story short, I felt embarrased when I left there. Her tone of voice, demeanor and throwing the receipts at me when I left was very upsetting. I understand the line was long and it's a stressful job, but I've been there before but never treated anyone rudely especially in today's economy where everyone works for their hard earned money. I should have went with my instincts and used Fedex just down the street. The price difference would have only been a couple of dollars, but their staff is friendly and the couple of dollars more i would have spent is worth more than saving a few bucks and losing my dignity and the embarrasment. Visited today on a Tuesday around 11:00 AM to ship a package overseas. There was no line, just me, so I guess it is usually empty around this time.. So go at this time if you don't wanna wait in line! Everyone inside is lazy and rude, except for the nice guy who sits right in front of the door to help people as soon as they walk in. Customer service is terrible and they seem to be confused about their jobs and how to handle the services we need for sending letters, packages, etc. If you have a car, drive to a Fedex or a UPS and you will leave happier. This location is very small as well and can get extremely crowded to the point that you leave after you get bored to death waiting 45 minutes in line. read more

I can't help it, you might say I'm a nice guy for giving them 4 starts instead of 3, 2, or even 1 star, but cross me, and you'd wish you didn't meet me. Wait what does that have to do with the review though? Nothing really, I just wanted a to put a short blurb on why a lot of my ratings are of high stars. Anyways I come here about once a week, maybe some times even less but I did have a dry spell of items to send so the weeks I did have many items makes up for the several weeks I didn't. Regardless, when I first started coming to this post office, I thought, "Oh my god, longest lines ever." And to this day its still mostly true. Yes there are times where there aren't people and it seems dead but it gets busy quickly. I remember one time I went in, I was like, "hmm line seems to be short today." And the lady behind the counter was like, "shhh and started laughing" Oops But despite the big lines, most of the employees that I have encountered are pretty nice to me. I think they know me as the "shampoo guy" since I am always sending something shampoo related. I know how they like their packages and delivery confirmation so I almost never get sent to the table. Why though are the ratings so low for this establishment? Granted the employees can be a little condescending to those who don't know anything, or the new people, but I don't blame them. Maybe because they know me, but I put the blame on the people who go there, who don't know how to act, what to do, what kind of packages they are sending. I saw a lady send a big carry-on once (you know the ones that you put all your clothes in when you go traveling), what the hell? Yes I am going to pin it on the public, the ones who don't know how to send an item, look ridiculously retarded, don't know what forms to fill out, and sit at the register for 20-30 minutes. Dude/Dudett, I got a package that is packaged and ready to go, can I take 3 minutes to send it while your dumb ass figures out what you need? Please? I don't understand why the service at this location is so frequently substandard. The employees often seem as they go through great effort to complete even the simplest tasks, and make you cognizant of the fact they take little to no pleasure in their employment. There used to be a very friendly manager who used to work there, but I believe he retired. I don't usually have a good experience at the post office and I think many can agree. But this day I came on my lunch break hoping to avoid waiting in line. I had a gift to send out that needed to be packaged and I had no idea what the difference between express and priority mail was. (I don't send out things too often) reaching for the express mail box a very nice postman called from across the room and told me that it would be super expensive using express! And he advised me to switch to priority. He then came over and actually helped me choose the right packaging and label. Overall he was such a HUGE help! Even lent me his pen :) I've never experienced such kindness and helpfulness at the post office before! Anyway I definitely recommend coming here in the afternoon and next time you have to send something out of state, choose priority mail haha! read more

I love this post office!! I come here at least once a week so I can attest to the customer service. Yes, the lines can be long, but its a pretty busy office and the line may seem longer than it actually is because the office is so small. The workers are not necessarily warm, but they are always super helpful. On more than one occasion, each one of the regular workers has recommended a way for me to ship my package less expensively. When I've asked workers at other post office locations to help me find the cheapest way to ship something, they're often reluctant to help or seem annoyed. For this reason alone, I avoid other post office locations in my area and exclusively go this location now. Two of the workers in particular (Jaime and an older white gentleman with glasses) have been super nice and helpful over the last few years. I may be in the minority, but I love this post office and its workers. Yea, they can be sassy, but I've also seen many people be rude to them and expect unreasonable stuff from them (e.g., its not the post office's responsibility to tape your package for you . . . stop being so entitled). I'm moving in a few months and I'm actually going to miss this misunderstood post office. I'll always appreciate all the money they helped me save when shipping my casebooks! read more

Okay so this place closes at 4:30..... why? Most people aren't even off work that early so there goes a huge chunk of your customers. You REALLY have to to commit to making this place a part of your schedule to make it work. Plus their station is really small and there is only one office that has service (which is also tiny). They stop letting you in about 15 minutes prior to closing as well because "they won't get it out in time/they are closing up and closed the registers." WTF. You are open. Serve me! Wack. I still come once in a while if I happen to have my package ready and it's not closed yet. I wanted to send a package priority mail. They insisted that I buy a decorative label sticker for the package even though you get a priority mail sticker when you ship it. No one else does that. There was one person working and a 10 person line. Three people were chatting and laughing in the back. Bottom line: If it's business that primarily serves students you WILL get awful service. Okay, so post offices are post offices, right? Not this one. This somehow evades the South County Magic (as I like to call it) of all government buildings being reasonable and functional. If you go to the SSA or a post office in LA, you're asking for trouble. Down here everything is usually easy. I've been to this place four times and only once managed to actually ship something, and that I had to drop in the box outside after using a self serve station. One of those four times, it was closed. Now, I respect closing for Holidays and stuff, but they chose to close the day after some weird holiday (I think Columbus day?) to "celebrate" it because it fell on a Sunday. They did that this year with Christmas, but that's Christmas. Two of the other four times, the line was too long. Way, way too long. There was a single person actually working at the counter and there were between 15 and 25 people in line. I know that the post office has been forced to make cuts, but it can't be worth keeping this place open, literally 2.3 miles away from the sparkling and grandiose one on Murphy and Alton. Go there and ask for Luis and watch your packages be mailed instead of standing in line and playing on your iPhone for an hour. read more

I went here at 9am, the lines were ok, and the lady at the front was really nice!!! So, I guess it just depends on what day and what time you go. And they ACTUALLY HAVE International Reply Coupons. I went to two other post offices that said that USPS does not sell them anymore, and my dad who has been a mailman for so many years did not even know what IRC's were. So, since i was looking for IRC's everywhere, and I found them here, plus the nice service, I would go to this place again. read more

The last time I came here was sometime around 9 years ago, and I interacted with the human staff there for a good experience. Of course, this time I came while it was closed and I found the facility lacking to the actual purpose of a post office, since I couldn't find a mailbox for large boxes and the internal mailbox was nailed shut so I couldn't even attempt to fit a large box in there. (At least the one on Sand Canyon has one even though it is full most of the time, and if it is nailed shut like that, I can't even fit a bubble mailer in there.) I found little in terms of anything that could be used for self-service other than outdoor mailboxes that only fit letters (which could theoretically be stolen from). I could not find a self serve stamp machine either. So it is not as good as other post offices that at least have a big box mailbox that can be used when the lobby is closed. I've never had any issues shipping things out at this location, and one of the employees there, Nestor, always gives me pointers on how I could cut down on my shipping costs. So what if you have to buy your own tape? Just make sure you tape your package before you arrive. The line is too long and moves too slowly? I come to this post office regularly. Several times, I have arrived just moments before they close and the workers are always very kind about it. They've given me a bit of extra tape when I've needed it. They tell me clearly what the price options are and have spent extra time making sure that I get all international packages the way I need them and where they need to go. I've also seen them consistently respond in a professional and patient manner to customers who have been rude and impatient with the workers. It's true that it can get packed at different times but how is this different from any other post office? I'm glad to have such great workers providing great service at this one. read more

Besides her the office is full with rude unhelpful workers, it is always dirty, they are constantly missing priority mail envelopes/boxes and when you ask for one politely they answer "what's there is all we have". All I can say is that an employee walked past me while I was labelling my package and he locked the door. I tried knocking when I saw what happened and was completely ignored. Of all the post offices the government closed this should have been one of them. This is the closest office to me but it is the last one I go to. This location has made me really hate the fact of dealing with USPS workers. I work with a site that gives me a postal prepaid label to ship items (like ebay would) and not only do they do that they give me the CORRECT USPS box to mail it out in. Never have had any problems mailing out the 150+ boxes of product till today when a RUDE, & unhappy worker gave me grief about the BOX it was in, and after explaining I have mailed multiple items with the same label and box I have never had a problem she grunted took the box from me and said "FINE" and when I asked which box is correct she had no response so I walked away (hoping it will go out still which it should seeing as the mailing supplies if given) I understand this is a busy place and not all customers are easy to deal with, but to look miserable and make someone's day just as hard isn't the solution! I like living near the UCI campus and it's close to many great places, but this post office isn't one of them. In fact, this post office is the single worst destination in Irvine--I'd rather endure a trip to the DMV any day. Why is this place the "skunk pit" of post offices? Hmm...let me list the ways: 1) Ridiculously long lines 2) No "take-a-number" system like other post offices--you actually have to stand in that long-ass line and if you have a lot of packages to carry, your arms are gonna ache 3) Tiny space--too many people. Makes you feel claustrophobic. 4) Unfriendly and rude postal employees. I know it's not the most fun job in the world but at least learn some basic manners like "hi" and "thank you." That lady who "assists" customers in the lobby especially has a nasty attitude--I've heard her swear in front of the customers, I swear. This post office is so bad that I often drive 8 miles to the Costa Mesa post office, just so that I don't have to endure a painfully long wait and be subjected to verbal abuse. read more
