Went here yesterday to drop off a phone for return that I had ordered from ATT. It had a prepaid label supplied by ATT. The package had never been opened. The contents were brand new, untouched. I had simply decided on a different phone model in-store, before this one had arrived in the mail. As said, ATT supplied me with a prepaid shipping label and I had attached her it properly and was told to be sure to get a drop off receipt, proving I had indeed mailed it. That way, if the post office were to lose it, I would not be liable for any of the obvious charges that would come forth. As I was standing in line, one of the employees shouted out that I could just put my package at the end of the counter. Now, it is a very small room... only room for 3 employees at the counter. But, I was not about to just set an $800 phone on the counter and walk out. I replied, stating "no, I can wait... I need a receipt." The employee nodded. I waited. There were 3 people ahead of me. When it came my turn, I handed over the package and stated I simply needed a "drop off" receipt. The employee got plain rude and said he can't give me such... he stated he couldn't do so because the package had a prepaid label on it. I have gone through this before with other shipments and never had such a problem. I stated all he had to do was scan the package into their system as received/accepted and supply me with a receipt showing it had indeed been accepted. The guy told me he wouldn't so such. He then tried to tell me that the post office is not equipped to supply proof of drop off and that if I wanted such I would have e to purchase a new shipping label. I was not going to so that! I asked what he recommended I do. He told me that if i wanted to mail the item with the prepaid label, i would just have to leave it there with him. I said i would not do such without proof of drop off. He started to get a bit angry and pointed to the tracking number on the label. He told me the tracking number is all i needed for proof and that I could track it that way. I corrected him, "yes I know I can track it that way, but I am not going to leave you an eight hundred dollar package, without proof you accepted it into the USPS mail system." He literally laughed like I was stupid and was asking for free delivery or his first born! I asked what I had to do to mail it, as I was not about to buy another label from him. He told me to go to another location. Fine! I drove across town to the usps on Murphy Avenue and alton... and guess what! 2 minutes in and out, no problem. The female employee was very polite, knew exactly what I needed. When I mentioned the ordeal I experienced at the other location she was speechless. She said all packages have to be scanned in upon acceptance... "all they had to do was print a confirmation for you! Good thing you didn't leave this there! It could have gone missing!" Funny... even other branch employees are calling out the nonsense that occurred. Shady! read more

Good to know that I am not the only one who doesn't like this particular location. First of all, the hours suck. In my mind, the post office perpetually closes at 5:00pm. But, nope, this one inconveniently closes at 4:30pm, annoying. Also closed on Saturdays. Customer service is really, really mixed. Yes, the guy is cool. The blond lady can also be nice. But for the love of stamps, the Asian lady is very condescending and rude to others. Watching her interact with others makes me dread going to this post office. Also, the line gets very, very long later in the afternoon so it's better to go in the morning. read more

At most post offices I have been to, the employees do not look like they enjoy their jobs. This location is no exception. I was here right as they opened, and was in line behind six others. As they let people in, they kept having to turn them away for not having everything filled out. I was next in line when all five people in front of me needed something else for their package. The women at the counter said in a loud voice, "Does anybody know how to mail a letter?" I can understand being frustrated, but that was rude to say. read more

I went in on 3/13/15 to priority Mail a court document which was extremely time sensitive to be delivered on or before 3/16/15. Payed $5.75 received a tracking number and was on my way. Come today, the item still had not been delivered. I track the package and guess where they sent it... A random Wisconsin address that is undeliverable. I'm sorry but where the hell did they get Wisconsin from?? The address was confirmed to go to Bellflower Ca!! I call the post office and phone rings to no end. I finally spoke to someone and he tells me it was placed in the wrong outgoing bin. I get people are human and mistakes happen but come on!!! Thank you university station for screwing this up. What 1 more person can do to service. Looks like this post office finally saw that service needed to be improved here. There is now a guy at the front directing and helping patrons out. So instead of waiting forever only to get sent back b/c you are supposed to know what forms and specifications packages should have, you take care of everything up front. I mistakenly thought I could pick up packages here which I agree would warrant some exasperation but the tone of voice she had and how she rolled her eyes multiple times at me was pretty unwarranted. Nestor was nicer and more helpful, so if you ever see an old lady with gray hair working there, just avoid her and go to Nestor. read more

Betsy is the most helpful and the friendliest. The tall lanky dude is very helpful but a bit more indifferent in demeanor, a peculiar sense of efficiency. The stout woman can be cranky and rude at most times, but you could catch her on a good day if the stars align or something. read more

It seems like this place is either a hit or miss. I actually went in today to mail a package to a friend in Missouri. At first I went with mailing it by flat rate, but the lady there suggested I go with something else since it was cheaper and would get there in the same amount of time. She actually seemed pretty mean at first, but she ended up being really nice and helpful. There's a lack of workers, but it's probably the only post office you'll be going to if you will be around UCI, even if it's painfully cramped. read more

Like I said, I'd rather travel a bit to get to you guys then go to the post office near my house. I had to ship 15 care packages overseas and the transaction wasn't the easiest.. Today's visit was another disappointing encounter. I got my package shipped, but it was just not very pleasant. The staff was Short with me and when they were confused as to which shipping method I wanted they were we unprofessional. I was told that I had a priority mail sticker (given to me by another staff member) so I had to ship it priority with an attitude. What they failed to mention was that the price was the same. It bothers me that there was no common courtesy or explanation. Simply bluntness. I wish there was another post office closer to me. Found another post office near work whoooo hoooo and its right off the UCI campus but believe it or not the customer service is amazing. I've lived near college campuses before so I understand how hectic it can get having a business anywhere close by. However, it is crazy slow here for one reason or another. There are no self check outs. I think if they had at least ONE self check out machine, the location would be much better and get lines moving quickly. I don't think the employees are bad or mean to be slow, but it's hard when the literal post office is tiny while the rest of the building consists of lockers. read more

Service is a little slow, especially when they're busy. There isn't too much space to prepare packages, and there's always a line whenever I go. Expect to wait a while. Workers are extremely rude and impatient, and they use unnecessarily loud and condescending voices. If you hate your job so much than don't work there. read more

Specifically, watch Diamond interact with customers. It is an impressive mix of laziness, indifference, and sheer idiocy. The fact that this dolt is employed at all speaks volumes to why this organization is a dismal failure, something that should have been dragged out to the barn and put down a long time ago. What an embarrassment. I've had good experiences and bad experiences here. It depends on how stressed the employees are that day, but I can totally see why they would be overwhelmed with the amount of people they get coming in all the time. I had a major issue with a package once and put in a complaint. I received a phone call the next day and I managed to get everything sorted out. I was amazed at how much they're willing to work with you. Although they're not always the friendliest, they're always super helpful. I guess I could call myself a regular of this location because my own office is at University Tower and my daughter asks me to mail stuff for her from time to time. The first two month, my rating of it was a little bit lower than OK, but into the third month, the staff there came to know me and we have had a better interaction ever since. I think the main reason that this location is rated the worst in Irvine is because the customers mainly consist of students and some students, especially international students, have hard time figuring out the ways to post stuff, therefore the staff have to explain the same thing over and over, which makes them tired and irritable. read more

Worst USPS office ever!!!!! I shipped three frames last week and when I went to the office an old lady asked me whether the item was fragile. I said yes and they were frames. And the old lady put many "fragile" signs on the box and said this would prevent broken glasses. But one second later she turned around and harshly dropped the box into the container. WTF! And my items were completely broken when they arrived and my buyer claimed to be refunded. My buyer chose parcel select and I just claimed to USPS and just got a response that "you cannot claim on this item because you chose parcel select and it's not insured". My advice, avoid USPS if possible, UPS and Fedex are always better alternatives. And WTF even not some greeting words to me in the email? Like I shipped via parcel select so I am not a valued customer! It is your fault not mine. Probably because it's belong to the government so they don't worry about their sales or something. Worst service ever! And one month ago I shipped my boyfriend's confidential document via the second day guaranteed but the package arrived a day later. I've been going to this post office with crappy service since I was a student. Honestly, I don't really care about the service, I would just like my mail delivered. But in the last few years I have lost 5 pieces of mail. All of them have been either Mother's Day cards, B'day cards etc. Expensive papyrus cards, that I put additional postage on. NONE of which got delivered. After the 5th one didn't make it, I emailed a complaint and got a response from a Mark Ngo with an excuse about maybe it didn't get delivered because you didn't mark it FIRST CLASS! lol I think my mail was stolen because it felt like there was a gift card inside. The only pieces of mail I lost were ones that felt like there was something inside besides just the card. The US Attorney's office just charged 33 USPS postal workers with theft of mail from SoCal locations. I wouldn't be shocked if the little Irvine office will make the news too. read more

The people that work here clearly do not know how to handle stress at all. I have only seen the same 3 workers here and all of them are rude. There was a long line around closing , however it doesn't meany can take advantage of people. 2 people in front of me were clearly exchange students possibly sending letters that weren't labels well. The last with the short brown hair dismissive lay said," these aren't correct and will get sent back to you " but instead of handing hem back she tossed them in the basket before both could say anything and said don't come back unless you know how to fill out an envelope. I originally came for an address form but when I got here the other lady said . Oh they haven't sent us any . I'm thinking.. Who's they? ... Can the workers not order properly place an inventory order? And these people are handling our mail.... Look, I understand you hate your job. But I can guarantee there are easily two dozen smiling employees in retail making less than you, AND have to work weekends, evenings and holidays, who will trade jobs with you in a heartbeat. Most have college degrees, some even masters, and all have no expectations of raises that will keep up with inflation. The sad truth is the retail (office) part of the post office is where they put the smartest and brightest employees. The package clerk and back office employees are another story.... Post office box renters like myself have seen far too many mistakes--from getting someone else's mail, to missing packages occurring with alarming frequency. One thing ALL employee seems to understand perfectly is time and date. Every weekday at exactly 4:29pm, someone stands at the door ready to lock at exactly 4:30. And that is 4:30 on their watch, which is always puzzling 3 to 4 minutes ahead of my cell phone. Oh, if payment is not received by the last day of the month, they automatically pull your mail, forcing you to try and get your ass by 4:29pm the next weekday and pay. If you should pay online, just to avoid their smiling faces and great attitudes, you will still have to come back before 4:30 (their time), wait in line and beg very nicely for your mail. This post office is the pits. If it were any other retail establishments, the employees would have been long fired. But since this is the ONLY option for UCI students without a car, this office will likely remain open, and all the rude miserable excuse of postal workers will remain securely employed. Had the worst experience here today at any post office, ever. I literally dread going to this location normally because the staff are rude and appallingly unhelpful. However, today I really wish I had gone to a different location so I could've avoided storming out shaking with anger after what should have been a routine mailing of a package. BETSY. Maybe Betsy thought "Jerry W." was cute or something, because this (expletive deleted) treated me like absolute trash. This post office is absolutely terrible. There could be a line out the door, which there frequently is, and the clerk will take a break. It just happened today. I sent a package from Houston to San Diego, however it ended up in Irvine CA. I spent $85.00 to send this express priority. I called the PO in 4255 Campus Dr and spoke with Maggie. She was rude and refused to assist with anything. After calling the 800 number and was told that the package can be picked up when it is returned to the post office since it contains perishable, I called the PO which I was given the number from the rep at the 800 number. Maggie refused to check the tracking number to verify that it will come there, she told me that I can pay $11.00 now since it was perishable and have the package shipped back to Texas since it will be no good, she refused to let me speak with a supervisor to see if they can do anything for me to pick up the package since it was cooked food. She was totally rude and disrespectful. My mother did this for me since I am in the Navy and was unable to go home for the holidays, When I asked to speak to a supervisor she hang up the phone on me. It is very difficult to get through to this post office since they were not answering the phone and when I did, to have to be disrespected in this manner is outrageous. I would leave 0 stars if I could. I use this post office all the time because of the location. This location can only handle 2 clients at a time and it usually takes about 3-5 minutes per client. It's always packed and it takes at least 15-25 minutes to get to the counter every time. The employees are the worst! The women especially are vary rude and don't even try to be nice to you. There was a little old lady in front of me who asked if she had enough postage on an envelope. The woman working told her, "no, you need $1.15 to send this and you only have $.85." The little old lady asked her if she could tell her how much more she postage she needs and the employee told her, "I don't know, compute!" They went back and diet like this for a minute until the employee finally picked up a pen and did the math. She was so lazy and rude! It her job to tell us how much we need to pay for postage. She doesn't just get to say, "go figure it out." Then when I got to the counter and wanted to pay, she asked for an ID to use my credit card. I provided my drivers license and she said said she can't take the card unless I sign it. So even though I provided a legal form of ID, she still wouldn't take my credit card until I signed it. So now, if I ever loose my card, anyone can use it without providing ID because I had to sign it. I ask to provide me with this written mandate and she said I don't know where it is.
