I've tested this ,but my mail man does not take my out- going packages ! I request pick ups from the app and for some reason the mail man puts my mail on top of my outgoing packages!? Then I get a notification that my request has been complete !? It's still in my mail box ! My package is only 11grams ?! Why aren't they taking it !? Postage is prepaid !! Good post office, comparatively speaking. The clerks there range from Awesome to okay, to poor, but in all, this is a good place to go if you have to make an in person visit. Based on Passport picture and experience. Sue who was helping me gave me a really hard time about my picture. She was not only organized I felt rushed the entire time getting my passport done. It was a really bad experience. If I'm paying close to $180 for my passport I would like my passport picture to look nice. I usually never get frustrated but the way she was handling things was really rude and unprofessional because she kept telling me my picture looks fine when it's clearly NOT HER passport. Maybe staff should learn how to take pictures properly. Lesson learned DO NOT take pictures here come with a professional pic already ready to hand In. The service was courteous, quite prompt (considering they had four workers in the morning when it open but still a long line so not exactly their fault), and there are not those annoying thick windows and speakers to talk through (do post offices really get robbed that much?). I went here last year to get a passport; I waited months for my appointment and was reminded repeatedly of the documents I needed- great. I showed up for my appointment and was rudely informed that I had the "wrong birth certificate." Meaning, I came with what is called a "short form" birth certificate and they told me I needed the "long form" one. Nobody told me that ahead of time, great. I was told they would try to accommodate me if I could make it back the same day. So I get in my car and immediately drive to NORWALK to the county registrar to stand in a long line to pay for and pick up the correct type of birth certificate. Before I get in my car to drive back to the post office, I make a call to them to make sure I can still get my passport done, since I've waited months for this appointment. Rudely, I was told the answer was NO; never mind that they failed to properly communicate to me what was needed or that I waited so long for this appointment and went out of my way to rectify the situation as soon as possible. I ended up going to CSU Dominguez Hills to get my passport done with no waiting for an appointment, no hassle, no fuss. I thought doing it through the post office was a smart move but is is not. So disappointed in this place, this was not the post office of my childhood that I remember. The workers are very rude and non apologetic; they show absolutely no sympathy. Even if this was 100% my fault, it's called CUSTOMER SERVICE. Be nice, express regret that it's a crappy situation. I was just here trying to pick up a package which was for some reason held at this location. I never received an attempted drop off pink slip. The lady behind the counter called her supervisor and I was left waiting for a good ten minutes. No one ever came.. the manager couldn't be bothered and the lady at the front didn't attempt to help me further but was kissing ass to the other customers that came in.. even a lady who complained about the cost of stamps. Parking can be a hassle, depending on the time you arrive. There is limited parking out front. However, you can park on the street if necessary. I was able to get in and out in a decent amount of time. There were 3 people working the front, so it made the wait time bearable. Now the theives are inside the PO committing vandalism to get into the po Boxes and the outgoing package drop box. So its closed and you can't drop in the night drop box. Therefore I am scheduling pick ups at my house but now the theives are stealing mail off of our porches. My neighbor and I both had packages stolen in the same week one day apart. So when the PO is closed because the thieves vandalized the drop box , and I left my package on the porch and it was stolen too what is our recourse? STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. The DMV of post offices. Everyone there is super slow. The line is always long and the employees just take their time. There is one taller thin hispanic lady that is great, but the short chubby one has an attitude and works super slow like everyone else. For those that go here, you know what I'm talking about. There's a Polynesian woman that works there that wouldn't take a flat rate, post office, prepaid boxed item. She said they don't take them. Update: 11/19/18 A little over a year later and the Lomita Post Office continues to never disappoint. It is still one of the worst ones in the area. If you schedule a package pickup, don't be surprised if they NEVER show up BUT still mark your request as having been honored. This has happened more times than I can count. Contacting the postmaster is a waste of time because all she does is apologize and then NOTHING changes. They continue to provide the same substandard service that in their minds justifies repeated rate increases. If you want to have a successful business, take your business to a post office other than Lomita. Maybe then your packages will be picked up and delivered in time. 11/8/17 This is one of the worst post offices around. I honestly do not understand why it has yet to be shutdown! I often sell things on eBay and have run into numerous problems with shipping to other California locations. Items take forever to leave the Lomita Post Office for some reason. I pay for package tracking and they don't bother to scan items upon arrival. I just dropped off a package on Monday to be shipped to Santa Monica. It is now Thursday and the status says that they are waiting for the item. It was DROPPED OFF at the Post Office!!! How can you lose it???? The ONLY upside to this post office is my regular mailman. He is AMAZING and deserves better than working for this place. If you can find another place to do your postal business, I suggest you do so. A little more work and a little less talk, yeah.....? Usually okay but the staff gets a bit chatty sometimes. All I wanted was one stamp. The clerk waived me ahead (signaling or at least implying that she was fully ready for the next customer) and got the stamp for me, then she started talking to another clerk and customer before giving me change. I asked for my change so I could go and was ignored. Then I just asked her to please send the stamped letter and left, then as I'm out the door the clerk says for me to get my change. Huh???? WORST customer service I've I encountered in a long time! We walked in tonight to mail out a present to my in laws, only to have the door slammed in our faces and told that they were closed. It was 30 minutes prior to the posted closing time that was on that very door! Now I understand why the postal service is doing so poorly. Maybe they should reevaluate the people they are hiring! I'm surprised by the bad reviews for this post office. This post office is A-Ok in my book. There is not a lot of parking but at least 10-15 spaces and there is also street parking. The staff that I have had have always been friendly and professional. There are always lines at post offices especially during a busy season (i.e. the winter holidays) so that should be expected when you walk into a post office. I'm giving this post office three stars because it is ok. It's not spectacular but it's not extremely bad either. They have all of the things expected at a regular post office. They can do passports as well ( and take photos of you for a fee). read more

Today was the final straw that broke the camels back to Yelp about this post office. I had a mail forwarding issue and met the Postmaster 2 times. Each time he wrote down my cellular number and said that he will investigate the issue and call me back. He NEVER did. The assistant postmaster also wrote down my cellular number and said that she will investigate the issue and call me back. She NEVER did. Finally the issue was resolved without any intervention by the Lomita post office BUT a new problem. The postal carrier kept putting my mail into the suite box of another tenant. Even though I clearly posted a note about the issue the carrier continued to put my mail into the wrong box. Another incident: Today the following alert was received "The post office attempted delivery of your UPS SurePost® package, but the receiving business was closed." That is completely false. The carrier never went to my office and attempted delivery! Probably just being lazy and thinking that my business is not open on Saturday Dec. 31. I've been tracking this package and knew it was coming and was hopeful to receive delivery as the tracking update said my package was "out for delivery" What a bunch of you know what... Another issue with the Lomita post office - the lobby hours are limited due to vandalism issues. If there is a vandalism issue then why don't they work with the Sheriff's department and catch the perpetrators? Vandalism of Federal property probably has stiff consequences. Now, all PO Box holders and post office lobby users are damaged. read more

Ok. About 25% of the time I come here now, the automated postal machine (self-service kiosk) is not working. Many of the times it's just as simple as it being out of paper. I came here yesterday (out of paper), then I tried again this morning (out of paper). So, they haven't bothered to check the machine and stock the paper in 24 hours. Not sure if they've even noticed it now. Instead I drove over to the Torrance location on Monterey. Yeah, it's more hectic at that location, but at least they actually service their machines. Post officer "SUE" literally walked away in the middle of shipping a piece of art out of the country to go on her lunch break. We waited for her for 20mins and asked the next clerk over to help us finish the transaction and he stated "I don't want to get involved". Shocked, I waited for Sue to come back and upon her arrival she asked us if we really had waited for her after she walked away. Seems like you may get decent service based on the mood or selection of the employee you get assigned to, it's unpredictable. I wanted to updated my review (4-13-16) because recently everyone has been much nicer! I think it may be because there is a survey link at the bottom of the receipt. Or maybe they just recognize me now. But the workers have been less intimidating and making more small talk which I appreciate. I also like the convenience of the parcel box in the lobby. It would make my life a little easier if they had a drive up one so I didn't have to unload my toddler from his car seat to run a package inside. (It's a battle getting him in and out). I come to this post office over any of the Torrance locations. I have always had a positive experience with the clerks as well as the Postmaster. Today I visited with my family to apply for passports. It had to be done with the entire family and my husband was off work. Unfortunately, an a postal employee had called in sick and they had closed the passport center, unexpectedly. I spoke with the Postmaster who graciously opened the center to take care of the customers waiting to get passports. He informed us it could take up to one hour, but we were done in about 30 minutes (second in line). The employee (clerk #16) who reviewed our application was very friendly and pleasant, considering the circumstances. The staff is always friendly and helpful. read more

Strike 1 - found a notice in my mailbox stating LPO was unable to deliver a certified letter - I was home for the entire afternoon, sitting steps away from the front door and received no knock or bell ring. In fact, I stepped outside just as the mail carrier pulled away to retrieve my mail. Strike 2- went online (as suggested on carrier notice) and scheduled redelivery for the following day, again home during delivery period - no letter. Strike 3 - called LPO to inquire about the letter, but was rudely cut off each time I started to speak. The desk clerk was limited to one word speech ..i.e. name? address? hold? it's here. redelivery? when I started to state that I would pick the letter up - she simply clicked off. One of the worst post offices around, No parking and its a pain to pull in and outta that place. ide rather drive farther to Torrance or harbor city to mail my stuff. Let me begin by the long line that's always in there and the clerks taking their sweet time. Next off if u have a complaint it seems the main person in charge is never there. Next off are the actual mailman/mail woman that delvers the mail are a bunch of lazies claiming that its not their "normal route" and they are filling in as being the excuse not to deliver "big packages" to my door and just leave the "we missed u"...ive personally caught them various times not even having the package on them not to mention they didnt even make a attempt to deliver to my front door (my apts have no security so they can just walk up so thats not even a excuse they can use). Instead they decide to leave the slip in the front mailbox with the other 30+ mailboxes. When it comes down to it...it just seems easier for them to leave the slip inside than to go knock on the APT door. Considering i am paying for their services to DELIVER i would say this is like a fraud or half a$$ service...no wonder the USPS is FAILING !!! Like i said ive complained to no avail..its the same result every time. i GIVE UP ON USPS in my area. ill give credit where credit is due and its about the only credit they will get from me and that is that the clerks may be slow but at least they are very very polite. other than that this post office sucks...and thats that sucks doesn't even describe it well enough read more
