Was trying to use the kiosk and as it was printing my qr scans I got a blue screen saying it was updating, I went to the counter for help and to actually pay for the items I was shipping not with QR code scans and the clerk number 9 based on receipts the lady with the braids was super rude and like oh if you're scanning you can't use this line it's for paying guests. I've watched my post office change over the years for better and for worse. They closed the mail pick-up line that used to be near the front entrance/P.O. Boxes and moved the services to the main line to the right. Pens for packages usually have to be asked for here since they're a hot commodity. Recently, my building had a mailbox key access issue and the post office took a month to repair/replace it. This caused residents to have to come in for mail pick-up, which got a bit messy. At one point, my blind mother went in to pick up her mail and someone released the entire building's mail to her. Thankfully she asked my SO for help sorting it which sent flags up to him to immediately return everything that wasn't hers. He explained the situation and the post office has seemingly taken things more seriously. The clerks? (not sure of the proper verbiage here) seem overworked and exhausted. I wish people were nicer to them despite their frustrations. It's better to stop in instead of calling for things, or set up a USPS account online where you can manage some things. read more

There's always hella long lines at any time of day that take forever here and the package send out slot stays locked at all times for no reason so you're forced to wait in the long line. This post office has all but created an environment where they don't want people to use it. There are only 4 parking spots out front for the patrons. One of the spots is handicap, so there are essentially only 3 spots. Today, 2 of those sports had postal service vans parked for well over an hour. There is a lot in the back for their vehicles. So, there was really only 1 parking spot the entire downtown could use. The remaining spots on the surrounding streets are used for apartments and are paid spots. This place stinks of urine and poop. There are homeless people sleeping on the property and shady guys in the alley adjacent. It's just a bad facility any way you look at it. read more

I went to the post office in Belmont Shore to avoid coming to this location because even though this one is a little closer to me, walking in there reminds of going to an old Los Angeles County psych facility. I kid you not. I visited after the Belmont location was out of stamps, so I could buy more stamps, a little before 9AM. There was a very short line, so I figured I would make it back to my car before I would have to put money in the meter. Well I figured wrong. There was only one window open and the unhoused man at the window was taking forever. Meanwhile the talkative lady in front of me wanted to have a conversation I had no desire to have with her. When she finally got to the window, she paid for the package she was sending out in coins, mostly pennies. I've never been passionate about abolishing the penny until that morning. meanwhile, the unhoused man from earlier approached me to ask if the envelopes provided by the post office were free. I just wanted to go home before having to go to work. The employee, Telly, who helped me, was super friendly and was the highlight of my visit. I explained to her that I purchased American flag stamps from a kiosk and was hoping for holiday stamps instead. She offered to take me to the kiosk to show me how to get holiday stamps. Lastly, I do have to say, the architecture of this post office location is beautiful. They really don't build them like that anymore. read more

On Friday, September 26th, around 3:30 p.m., I had a very disappointing experience at this location. First, I had been tracking my package online and saw that USPS marked it as "undeliverable" due to "no access." However, no notice was left on my door, so had I not checked the tracking myself, I would have had no idea. When I went to the post office about two hours before closing, the woman working at window 4 (possibly 3, but I believe 4) took down my address but never actually checked for my package. She didn't read what was on my phone, didn't attempt to help, and told me to just come back the next day. On top of that, she was clearly distracted and even on her own phone, showing no interest in doing her job or assisting me. To make matters worse, while I was there, an unknown man started harassing me--calling me names for no reason, even though I did nothing to him. This man was aggressive, and I was there with my child. The employee at the desk did absolutely nothing to intervene or even acknowledge the situation. It's unacceptable that an employee who is being paid to serve the public would refuse to help with packages and completely ignore a situation where a woman (with a child) was being verbally attacked by a much larger man inside the post office. There are plenty of people who would be grateful to work and take this job seriously. read more

I have frequented this post office for 6 years. First time I encountered Quinesha, the Lead Sales Associate. She has a reckless mouth and a terrible attitude. She needs to be more tactful "at that job she's making money at", as she said. She exhibits poor impulse control. The service here is extremely slow, the workers are visibly eating in front of the customers during business hours, not only this but a simple package pickup which takes about 5 minutes at every other location takes about 1 hour from start to finish. Dwntwn LB post office, long history of issues with deliveries and in general customer service. Here on Elm ave, 90802 our mail is always late, misdelivered or total missing. we have signed up for USPS informed delivery where mail coming our way is scanned in advance and we received a notice of it in photos and but we get it 2-3 weeks late or again, total MIA. Our neighbors 1 or 2 buildings down Elm ave, come to us to hand us our misdelivered mail. There have been in approximate of 10 or 11 different carrier individuals who never stay long and never learn their trade. we wonder why!! Today, we have a new guy who has his packages and mail all missed up. he spends about 10 mins or more on our one story building with 11 units, as he goes back and forth placing mail that has obviously not been sorted out. we are very unhappy with all of this, and less and less plan to use this what used to be great means of communication and business! read more

I was the only person in line waiting to pick up a package and then the line started to grow bc the customers in front + the person servicing them decided to have a full blown conversation about God knows what. This post office is always late in opening. Today they opened at 08:40am. Their business hours are 08:30am the P.O. Boxes prices is too expensive. Customer service sucks. Only the Asian lady has an excellent customer service but she been here since I first opened my box in 2001. Everyone else is rude seems not happy working here 3 times I had told 3 different employees if your not happy with your job go find another job. Yes I still do business here because I'm local and when I do I let everyone else go in front of me if the Asian lady is helping someone else. I wait for her. History of lost and delayed packages and poor customer service at the downtown LB location has caused me to exclusively use alternate mail and package delivery services. - High dollar packages that never arrived, (were tracked to the last location) then tracking mysteriously deletes and insurance claims had to be filed. - Collectibles (movies, other media) late delivered by months and arrive w/package opened and re-sealed with fingerprints and food & popcorn on the items. - Workers at package hold window can't find anything but I can clearly see it from the lobby floor window. - Workers at service lobby with very strange control issues refusing to sell you what you requested for no reason at all. letter carrier who delivers mail and packages to the area on 10th and Orange has got to be reeducated on delivering packages. This person delivers packages on the outside of our building and packages get stolen. We have it on camera. I placed a hold for my mail in February. I retrieved it. I submitted another one, and when I went to retrieve that mail, I was told that they can not do that. I asked the clerk what could be done. She informed me that she would ask the carrier to retrieve the mail from the address and hold my mail one last time until I picked it up. She also had me fill out a slip. This occurred on 3/30/24. I returned to pick up the aforementioned mail and I was told that there was nothing there for me. I asked to speak to a supervisor because I'm getting the run around and I have crucial pieces of mail to retrieve. The supervisor, Brittany, came to the window and begrudgingly explained the process. What is the big deal? Sure, lines can be long. Sure, it occasionally smells like urine outside. Sure, parking might be tough. This is a Post Office in Downtown LB! Anytime I go there I try to use the automated system on the side. One can also see the long lines as an opportunity to practice patience (deep breath in, deep breath out, woosah). Sometimes they have a person to triage customers as they que up, so that's positive. Also, and not that I'm into stamps, they have a lot of great options. The delivery service was so bad that I opted for a PO Box so the mail wouldn't have to leave the facility, however, the same issues continued. After a juror summons showed up 2 weeks after my report date, I decided to move all mail service to the location on 2nd Street.
