Always understaffed. Always long lines. No service with smiles. Also, something about blank white walls behind the counter bother me. I mean, are you guys going to move locations or something? Made an appointment in August to renew my passport and right from the start, they were rushing the entire process. They immediately thought that I was there to just fill out the application and when they finally allowed me to explain that I had an appointment weeks in advance to get my passport picture and documents, they felt like I was impeding on their work. They rushed me to the back area to take pictures, rushed to have me fill out the paperwork only to receive a letter back from the US Dept. of State San Francisco Passport Agency that the picture was taken incorrectly. I just spent over $180 for this process now I will have to take my picture and wait for a couple of months to get this rectified. They know exactly what's required to pass as a passport photo and now I'm going to retake and spend more in order to process my passport. I am always missing my mails coming from a particular vendor. These are rewards certificates. I have signed for informed delivery and I got the scanned images but no mail in my mail box. I signed up for the informed delivery to prevent this issue and now I know it is not the vendor who is causing the issue. It's the post office which is the problem. read more

No mail for 2 days! Same thing 2 weeks ago. Receiving mail belonging to others on the other side of Martinez. No response wjen call local number rings over 20 times; after a week's call Ladt month told person on route had personal business to take care of another time told person had a split route another time a few weeks ago told person did not know certain areas in her route. Not receiving valuable correspondence; receiving calls and confirmation frim senders. This Post Office postmaster met woth City Hall recently as a result of many complaints...mothing's changed. read more

If I could I would rate no stars. We came in for a passport and the cashier was incredibly rude. We had our 2 month old baby and there was no one In line, as we walked up to her she demanded we waited on the side. After several minutes more and more people arrived. She then looked back at us and told us we had to keep waiting because they needed to move the line. Excuse me but we were in line before anyone even came in. Mail delivery in Martinez is actually getting worse, if that is possible. Today they broke a Netflix DVD in half jamming it into my mailbox at home. They have not taken any of the mail I placed for pick up in three days. Seems like they don't even get near my house until 7 or 8 at night. read more

I'm not given the option for negative stars, I placed an online order and it shipped just before Christmas, it went to UPS then they brought is to USPS MTZ. according to the tracking it was placed on the truck for delivery on 12/23 but didn't show up, I gave it a few days as we only get mail once every 3-4 days, I called the post office and they don't answer the phone so I then called the 800 number who told me it was in the post office and to give it until 1/5 to be delivered, well still not here, I call MTZ Post office and shazam some answered the phone, they couldn't find the package but would call me back when the did. Well apparently they never found it so I've been calling to 3 days, let the phone ring until it hangs up about 5-6 minutes then call again and again, 7 times until the same girl answered the phone and told me my package was lost and I could file a claim online to recover my lost package. Well apparently we have to pay for insurance for there incompetence as I am SOL because I didn't have it insured. USPS is doing their very best to put them selves out of business. You would think that with all the competition they have today they would try to provide exceptional service to keep our business and loyalty but they just don't give a $&!?. read more

WORST customer service ever , haven't had mail delivery in 2 days now so I call our local office and am forwarded Martinez main , was on hold for 42 minutes , finally a service rep answered and could answer NONE of my questions , then rudely told me to call the Pacheco Branch (news flash I called there first and was forwarded to MTZ) the woman was rude and snappy at Mtz so I asked for a manager she said nothing and put me on hold for 7 more minutes , the Manager MARSHA employee # FYCYHO , told me it would take 2 to 3 business days for an answer as to why I am not getting my mail (lived at this address 24 years) , I told her unacceptable so she then tells me to drive to my local branch (the same one who forwarded my call to mtz) i just had hip replacement and am not driving at this point yet , when i told her i was handicapped she seemed to be even ruder , this is escalating to a series of complaints to the corporate level about customer service being lazy and basically useless with zero people skills read more

I will positively never utilize this branch of the USPS again. I just moved here 3 weeks ago, and after months of eBay sales with no problems and 100% positive feedback from customers, suddenly I have several packages that have mysteriously disappeared, have received negative feedback from customers who just plain don't believe the postal service makes those kind of mistakes. I don't blame them. I didn't think it was possible either until I experienced the problems at this office. Lines out the door due to a supposed mail thief, which after experiencing the staff there, wouldn't come as a shock if it was one of them. The management here needs to change. Now. There are articles in the local paper about how bad the service is, and those are from nearly 2 years ago. The problems are the same, and appear to have gotten worse. I will be writing a formal letter to the postmasters superior. This needs to change, and it needs to happen now. This office is taking money out of people's pockets. Pathetic. During the COVID pandemic I have used the USPS for several items that I typically do not. I was frustrated when ordering stamps took 10 days!!! Today though is the biggest issue. I mailed a packet of papers to my CPA for tax prep. I got it back saying I must bring it to the PO because it is over a 1/2" thick and has stamps, it weighs over 10 oz. It is NEITHER! I do not want to go the the PO. It is notorously filthy and not a place where I feel safe during these times. I tried to call them for guidance. The 800 number says there is a ONE HOUR wait. I called the 228 number and it rings 37 times and cuts off. I tried two more times and the same result. It seems my only option is to divide the items into two envelopes and sacrifice the $3.50 in stamps to try and mail this. The post office deserves to go bankrupt! This is not service. The only real service coming from the Martinez PO is from my very pleasant, efficient and over worked carrier who often does not get to my home until 7:30 PM. read more

If your reading this I am sure that you're in the same situation we are. There are not enough words to express how bad this post office is. We have had all of the listed complaints, mis-delivery, lost packages, packages scanned as delivered that are not delivered, packages that show notice left when no notice was left. Packages shipped across the country that are not scanned and tracked until they reach their destination. Community mail boxes broken into because per the Postmaster (Jeanette Davis), the locks they used were not designed for this purpose and there are only a few master keys. The only thing positive that I can say is it's a great why to meet your neighbors because we have to get together weekly to exchange mis-delivered mail! After trying to work with this post office we gave up. We complained to the city council, the mayors office, Washington DC, etc. This is what worked, contact Congressman Thompson's Office and speak to Cora or Ariel preferable Cora. I have written 10 letters to the Congressman sometimes almost daily. Things have improved for two reasons, the first is I spent $248. to rent a mail box for a year and I am routing financial stuff through it. Secondly they are watching our mail because the only thing they respond to is the contact from the Congressman's office. Good Luck! read more

Update: USPS main Martinez is still the absolute Worst Customer Service experience possible. Instead of improving customer access they have changed the latest mailing time to 5:30pm from 6pm. Lobby hours have been cut from 6pm to 5pm. They have made sure that no one can mail after work because they could care less. May the USPS go broke and get privatized and fade into the toilet of US history. They suck!!! read more

Just went to the Martinez post office for passport services. We stood in line for two hours to obtain new passport. We were told for US citizenship proof that you need A birth certificate. The passport was for a 17-year-old minor. We presented his previous passport to show proof of citizenship which was denied at this passport office. We were told that he needed a birth certificate instead. Instructions from the national passport agency state you need to provide Proof of citizenship which is either a birth certificate or previous passport which we had. They sent us away and told us to bring back a birth certificate instead. Wasted Time of two hours in line from an official but does not know the rules. Beware of this office. read more

This is the worst post office i have ever been to. When you track a package on-line it does not reflect where your package. It may say out for delivery today and you dont get it. It had said notice left and no notice was left, plus im home all day. A package i was waiting for got returned stating notices were left and i failed to pick it up. I never received one notice. Ive reported this to the postmaster, filed an officual complaint, contacted the mayors office and the Congressman for my district. I believe the supervisors at the Martinez post office along w/ the carriers have no qualifications. Pasan (spelling) is a big jerk. Henry has no control over his carriers and Mejiah just says whatever to try to keep customers quiet and neither one of the supervisors know what is really happenig with their carriers. The carriers are lazy and just want easy routes! This post office needs a turn around in supervisory staff. Several phone calls during multiple days, after many rings later, I finally got a person, two actually. I asked to pick up instead of delivering a "tracked" package only for them to give me the "I'll find your package and call you back." Too many empty promises and I am so disappointed by the lack of accountability. This is the second time I have lost a package in less than 2 months because of delivery issues. The carrier delivered a package after work hours to a business. Got it, we learned our lesson and put up a sign to NOT deliver any packages after 5 pm or on weekends. Clear enough, right? Nope. They did it again last night. So disappointed. I get it, we're all busy. I am a single mom, with two kids working M-F from 8-5. I get my package delivered at work because it's where I am most of the time. It makes sense until now. I've lost trust and confidence in my postal service. Those items "delivered" (I question this second one) were for my son. People depend on you. When something is "free," there's someone missing it. Let's get it together. This experience makes me not want to buy online because of the incompetency of this post office system. read more

Terrible customer service. A delivery was supposed to arrive on Friday and never showed up. I went to the post office on Monday morning and was greeted by an unpleasant woman who seemed impatient and upset because I was upset that I didn't get my package delivered. She did not ask for a tracking number just my address. she then told me to call FedEx and see where the package was. after being on hold and finally talking to someone with FedEx they told me I had to contact the post office for them to find where my package was. went back to the post office the next day and they told me that they don't understand why FedEx has a tracking update online because it doesn't work. she then quickly took down the tracking number and my information and hurried me out of the way and told me she was sorry and did not even look at me. I don't know what is more disturbing, a company who is telling customers that the company they are merging with is incompetent, or the fact that they lose peoples mail. read more

This location is horrid. Parking lot is bad. I'll just drop mail in the Concord location before I come here. I've had mail delivered to my office so many times that doesn't belong to my company - it belongs to the previous tenants. It should give the carrier a clue if the names are different! But nope, he keeps handing me the damn mail. Can they read names? Also rude much? He comes in and just hands me the mail and on occasion asks for a signature...again wrong business... A few of the workers there seem like sad, angry robots. They lost a package that I was supposed to receive and quite possibly falsified the tracking information. I was a carrier in a nearby city for 10 years, so I know a bit about how the delivery system works. I am constantly disillusioned with the service I receive in Martinez. I have contacted the USPS web-site and complained and phoned, with no follow-up. I have repeatedly phoned the local office and they will not answer the phone. My latest problem is a 1ST class package containing medicine for my dog. It was supposed to be delivered Nov. 10TH. According to the tracking #, it sat in Richmond from Nov. 9TH - 25TH arrived at Martinez early Nov. 25TH. With the office only a mile away, I figured it would be delivered any day. It is now Dec.1ST and still no package. 1ST class postage, but not 1ST class service. read more

Thank you for your incompetancy. Yesterday I spoke with someone on the phone and was informed my package had been placed in our mailbox on monday because the geotracker said so. I was at home in front of my house as the mail truck drove past with out stopping. I was told Tuesday to file a claim. I filed with Amazon and they are processing it. This post office is the WORST and the attached passport office is non-existent. I've been there 3 times trying to renew a passport: First time: the hours are NOT the hours posted on the website, they close at 2:30. Second time: passport office was closed the whole day, no reason given. The third time: they got a form to me but then the passport person decided to leave for lunch at 1:45 and not return until 2:15, office closes at 2:30 and we were told to wait for 30 minutes. COME ON, the biggest offense by the folks who work there? They don't give a damn about the time spent by customers going to the post office or passport office. They are offended if you take up their time but have no thoughts about people who have jobs and take time to take care of matters at the post office. One of the worst experiences at a post office in my life. Three separate incidents and today was the last straw. The first time around, there were not any small priority flat rate boxes so I went up to ask. She insisted that there were there and I possibly missed them. I had to go up to the front of the line again to ask her. Second time, my mother mailed a package for me, I gave her a USPS bubble wrap that I purchase and brought from home. Some person working there bullied her into paying again for the bubble wrap. Today, I went to mail something and due to a small miscommunication, the lady had to retype the info into the computer. I guess she threw a hissy fit and threw my package as well. Stay away from this place, absolutely no customer service whatsoever. There is a reason why the ratings are so low. And not only did we NOT receive our mail on Monday again, but I had a package I've been tracking from Amazon.On April 18 my package leaves Frankton,IN , then Indianapolis, IN, then through Richmond,CA and has arrived today (Monday April 20) to our wonderful Post Office where (according to my tracking, it's "out for delivery")and yes I paid for "2 day PRIORITY MAIL".....But guess what folks, yep you guessed right, it STOPS dead in it's tracks at the Martinez Post Office.....Oh wait it gets better........then according to my tracking after anxiously waiting for my delivery from Amazon it says "We attempted to deliver your item at 4:01pm on April 15, 2015 in Martinez, CA and a notice was left because an authorized recipient was not available. You may arrange redelivery by"...blah blah blah BLAH....WHAT???? Well this isn't the first time this exact event has happened to us. First of all at 4:01pm we were sitting on the couch laughing at Judge Judy with the screen door in between us and the mailbox. Second my package DOESN"T require any signature!!!!!! And Third, we have the LAZIEST Postal Workers on earth ..........AS WE DIDN'T EVEN RECEIVE OUR REGULAR MONDAY MAIL!!!!!!!!!! Again, NOT the first time they SKIP our Monday Mail.
