Mailed a priority mail package (with tracking number) from this post office and more than 2 weeks later, I still don't know what happened to it. When it was not delivered within the given time, I went to the post office to inquire. They referred me to an 800 number. The 800 number referred me to a USPS missing mail web site. The web site referred me back to the local post office. The post office then referred me to the 800 number AGAIN. When I balked at the notion of being sent in circles, it was absolutely futile. I am living a bureaucratic nightmare. Is it possible to give negative stars? read more

I never have a problem when I go into the post office. I go in quite a bit as I run a craft business and have to mail out packages both domestic and international. They are always super helpful and I've never gotten attitude from anyone. If anything I'd say sometimes they're too friendly when there is a long line. However, for postal delivery, I give our postman 0 stars. We live in an apartment building and our post boxes are constantly getting locked in the open position to where anyone could reach in and take the mail from 8 different apartments and we have no way to close them! UGH! On one occasion my husband went to check the mail as we were expecting a delivery that day and he ran into the mail man. The mail man had our package but didn't want to give it to my husband. He showed him he did have the key to our box and then (and explain the logic of this one to me) he actually asked my husband to take another package that went upstairs to another apartment and drop it off for him so he wouldn't have to go upstairs!!! WTF!!! Seriously?? I don't know how I feel about a postal worker who will knowingly give a package to someone who obviously doesn't live at that address. It's a good thing my husband and I are honest people. So if you're going into the post office you're fine but good luck with the postman on your route. Hope he's smarter than ours. I love this place. When I compare it to other post offices nearby, like Glendale's where I grew up, this one is much quieter, has better air conditioning, and feels generally more relaxed -- even on a Friday afternoon! read more

First admission is that I am not a frequent post office visitor but I have lived in Monrovia for 14 years and used them several times a year. I have always had friendly service and the people behind the counter seem professional and efficient. I know its trendy to bash the post office - but they have not given me a reason to. read more

This post office is a joke. I've had so many packages that were suppose to be signed for but no one ever knocked on my door. All I ever go was a pink slip that said, "sorry we missed you, redelivery available". It's not that hard to get off and walk to the door & ring the doorbell. Instead I have to keep calling to get my stuff re-delivered or I have to drive over there & pick up the stuff myself. Poor service. Wish this wasn't my local post office. read more

I'm writing this about the front counter employees, not the USPS corporate bigwigs or their policies. I find that when I'm friendly to people, they are usually friendly right back. I have a post office box so I am at the post office almost every day, at different times of the day as well. Yes, sometimes it's busy, and sometimes it's not. When there are long lines and only 2 people at the counter, it's not their fault, it's their manager's fault for improper scheduling. I have seen these front-line employees take abuse from customers, and retain their cool. They deal with all types of customers every day and still deliver great service. I'm going to step on a soapbox now.....we are a very impatient society and want everything instantly. We're under time pressure and demands from our boss, our spouse, our children, etc. Sometimes we're ready to burst from the stress. But please remember, while it's easy to let loose at the counter person, s/he is just trying to do the job and get your packages sent, stamps bought, or whatever. Sure, I have seen some employees get a little short with customers, but that's the exception. If you worked for a massive bureaucracy, you might get a little testy every once in a while, too. Chill, people. Be grateful you have the good health to stand in a line for a few minutes. read more

I was sending mail to some-one who had won books I auctioned off on Listia ...I sent my husband up to send the package through Media Mail.He was told that they would have to look in the box to make sure it was really a book. A few days later I sent my God-son up and they were also rude and short tempered to him. I have won over 50 online auctions ,when I asked others bidders (who has shipped me things ) if they were ever questioned about whether they were REALLY sending media the answer was no. This P.O. does not have enough customers to be so rude. Also the mail man delivers my mail to my neighbors not once or twice but dozens of times,when asking nicely if we get all of the mail I was answered very rudely. [Read my previous review on this place....] I wish I could give this sorry excuse for a post office a negative. I figure this particular PO must be known throughout the Postal insiders as the place to transfer all of their derelicts, has-beens, those suffering dementia, illiterates, and lazy burnouts. Why do I say this? Well nothing explains why so many of my packages have been mis-delivered for years and years, despite my many complaints to the manager, the area wide head, the Post Master General ombudsman and to the individual postal carriers. So I give up... this is the *worst* post office I have EVER had the misfortune to live in its area. I can not believe how many times these morons mis-deliver my packages. Just this week, a cell phone and a router was listed "delivered" in ebay. It was delivered alright: to the WRONG ADDRESS! I might as well flushed my 100s of dollars down the toilet. Occasionally the person who got a package that doesn't belong to them has been nice enough drop it off at my place, but other times not so much. Many calls & visits over the years, none were pleasant, the last straw was coming in to pickup a change of address form, only to be told to wait in line as they are held behind the counter (????) after waiting, just handed the form, nothing else requested. I asked, if you have the forms here, why didn't the lady at the counter just hand me one. The insane answer...."because they have coupons in them, and people come in and take them for the coupons." Why the lady with the cornrows couldn't just hand it to me instead of forcing me to wait in line? Just to be a jerk..glad I moved away. read more

Absolutely mind boggling how poor we were treated here. Having done nothing to deserve being treated like a 4 year old, we could not believe the snotty teenage style attitude coming from grown lady behind the counter. This leaves us with the understanding as to why the US post office system is going out of business. How could we ever recommend a company with poor service and attitude? We cannot! I am so angry! I ordered a birthday gift for my brother and I made sure it's supposed to be delivered by his birthday (which is today). I've been refreshing the page all day. They didn't update their tracking info online until around 3PM even though it says the package was out for delivery at 9AM. wait and wait and wait. Then around 5PM, I called USPS since that's pretty late. They usually get here around 3-4PM everyday. They told me due to the presidential elevtion, they've been an hour behind schedule so I'm like okay. He did confirm that my package is with the carrier and being delivered today. Before I hung up the phone, i repeated, "so I will be receiving my package today?" he said YES. Then I saw the USPS car down the street and I'm like YESSS! I patiently waited for him in my house, looking out the window every now and then. He took forever, but then I saw him just drop some ads into my mailbox and drove off really fast. I run out right away and he's gone. I looked in my mailbox and it's just ads. I check my front door and back door ad nothing. I check online and it still says "out for delivery". So of course I call USPS again right away but of course, they close at 5:30 and it was 5:38 so they didn't pick up. They actually picked up on the first try then hung up. I mean i get it that they want to get home as soon as possible. Don't we all. But they need to do their job. I need to receive my package. Now on their website it still says I'm supposed to receive my package today, and it still says it's out for delivery. I am so annoyed and angry. It's not a small package, I have no idea how they can just forget. All day today has been a hassle, I did so much. AND I STILL DON'T GET MY PACKAGE. I HATE USPS, I REALLY DO. THEY'RE SO UNRELIABLE. NEXT DAY EDIT: So I called them again this morning and they actually transferred me around 5 times. Then finally someone asked me for the tracking number. I gave it to her and she had the balls to lie to me. She claimed they didn't receive the package until last night at 8PM. That's when I got mad and raised my voice. I hope she realizes that I know how to track a damn package online. I told her I called yesterday and they told me it was out for delivery AND it said online it was out for delivery. Then I pointed out to her that it says the package was UNDELIVERABLE and she tried to bullshit some stuff again. Then I told her I WAS STANDING RIGHT THERE WAITING FOR MY PACKAGE WHEN THEIR CARRIER DROVE RIGHT PAST MY HOUSE. She had nothing to say to that, she she just told me that it will be delivered today. I asked her if she's sure because that's what they said yesterday. So bottom line is, just because the USPS is government based, they don't give a crap. They don't need to do their job well because what are we gonna do ... not use them? Shut them down? They have nothing to fear. So they can purposely drive right past my house if they're in a rush to go home because it's almost 6PM. They can just make up some BS and say it was "undeliverable" then give me a bunch of lies. I am also disappointed in Best Buy for even using a carrier like USPS for expensive items. Why would any company trust USPS to safely deliver packages? They can barely handle bills. USPS sucks, government is always thinking of ways to cut back on stuff ... might as well close down all the post offices. They don't do shit. My wife and I and our three young children waited for 20 minutes at the passport counter while one customer who was already at the counter when we came in was served. We were unaware we were to bring front and back photo copies of our drivers licenses. The postal clerk recommended we go to UPS and get copies made and come back. She made no offer to make copies. When I started to complain the clerk spun around before I could finish my 2nd sentence, and yelled for the manager "Some body wana complain!" The manager seemed stressed when he came out, and listened to my complaint. He simply replied that "It is not their policy. " The employees made it clear they could not care less about the inconvenience. I suspect this is a regular occurrence. The 2 men in line behind us were sent away for the same reason. The post office charges 25 dollars to handle each passport application. I would have been more than willing to pay the extra cost of a couple of copies. I did agree with the manager that " customer service " was not their policy. I will never go back there. The body language, tone and lightning quick dismissal of my complaint was surprising. Two days ago I went to the Monrovia Post Office and joined a line of 5 people. There was only one teller, an African American lady who was talking for about ten minutes or more with one woman. There were two people ahead of me and two behind me. After awhile the two people behind me asked the clerk to stop discussing personal affairs and take care of business! She shouted back that the woman had just lost her husband! The man behind me said that should be discussed outside of the business hours and this is a BUSINESS. The second person joined in with affirming comments. I said nothing. The next day (yesterday) I had another business package (a DVD) to mail to a rep and joined a line. It was about 3:05 P.M. There were again about 3 or 4 people in front of me and only the same lady at the counter. She said "next" and the first man in line walked up to her. He addressed him by name. The line stopped moving then. They talked for about 5 minutes, maybe more........finally after waiting I vocalized my concern and asked if she could summon another clerk from the back to help us. A line of 15 people had accumulated. She yelled back that the OTHER lady is in the back making a phone call and "THAT IS YOUR ANSWER" i was very unhappy with that answer, finally the second clerk arrived and I told her that I thought they were not very businesslike by having only one person on the counter when there were 15 people in line. She responded that she was glad I could count up to 15 and said that if I did not behave I would be ESCORTED OUT! I took my package and left. When I went to the Arcadia Post Office I was in and out in less than 5 minutes. I concluded that I should go to that office or to UPS or Fed Ex in the future. Since then, I have been wondering why their management person has not taken steps to correct this very bad behavior? The two ladies should be replaced by persons who care about the clients that provide the income to pay their checks. They do not have a RIGHT to treat customers with total disregard as I have seen two days in a row. read more

Maybe it was an off day, but the service was lax, haphazard, and rushed. Most concerningly, the employee refused to give me a receipt for some packages I was dropping off, even after I asked..no tracking number or anything...just waved me along and insisted "everyone does this." The employee also forgot to charge me for an item (roll of tape) and was preparing to help the next customer until I brought it to his attention and mentioned that I hadn't yet paid. I am an artist and I ship paintings and Prints all the time. That means I have time against me. Today I went into this location 30min to closing not so bad it only a few ppl in line. Mind you I am lugging a canvas with me. I get up to the first window.. Guy sees one small slip that I forgot to put tape on and says oh I can ship it but tape it up first.. Literally it was very tiny. So I asked for some tape. He tried to sale us this whole thing. I said NVM I live down the street be back in 5 min. Came back 5 min 10 until closing 2ppl ahead of me shipping small packages. I'm like cool okay I can get this shipped today. I get up to a lady with red hair and a starfish ring. I need to go back and make a huge HUGE complaint about her. So she saw us in line before we came back we get there and she's like oh let me measure to make sure we can ship. I told her the added dimensions. I have to know this already this is what I do. So she measures..no not even that I have no clue what she did wrap the take around not even starting from the same spot starting from the middle. While she is attempting to measure something I already told her the dimensions for I see her pressing really firmly on the package. I dont care how many layers I put in to protect the canvas it is delicate. I ask her politely "hey could you just be careful it is a canvas" she looks at me with the rudest tone and says with the most attitude.. I am not pressing hard I see it says fragile....(doesn't matter if says fragile) it is delicate and can be punctured.. Well after a few seconds of bs.. She says we can't ship it..I know that you can for a fact. They just didn't want to deal with it close to closing. If she was going to do all that couldn't she of told me when she first saw me waiting? I know at my work I make sure the customers are taken care of.. Nonsense. I'm a little surprised by the bad reviews for this location. Okay, yeah, it's the USPS. The whole thing is one disorganized messed. Even one of the USPS workers said so. But I like coming to this location. This one is generally pretty friendly and quick. At least it is quicker than the Arcadia location. It seems that there is always a line at the Arcadia one, and the workers are pretty darn crabby. Also, when I went to buy stamps one time, the Arcadia location hardly had any options, but Monrovia had a ton. Not sure if that is a management issue. read more

We are having continuing problems with late delivery or no delivery at all. One day a young postal worker was sweating it out rushing the mail out here and he informed me the regular guy had gotten to it so late, that they sent him, after doing his own route, to help finish the regular guy's route. Right now it is after 5pm and we still don't have our mail. Two weeks ago he brought by the orange slip to give a certified letter, but he did not have the letter. Said he'd drop it off the next day now that we signed it. Called the supervisor who was dismissive and just repeated like a robot, "he has until 6 to bring the mail." I get my pay check, which is mailed from downtown LA, day late all the time despite fellow colleagues getting their checks on time. I have not been to the post office building for a couple of years...after being treated so incredibly bad by two incompetent front counter workers. I called the post office about 20 minutes ago to see what is up with our mail...15 minutes before 5pm and no answer. They have already taken off. It's awful, just downright terrible. The Monrovia Post Office staff is incompetent, lazy and rude from top to bottom. read more

This is by far the worse POSTAL OFFICE I've been to. The clerks are rude and don't have a clue of what costumer service is. No wonder the Postal Service is losing business. Diane or Diana was my clerk on June 29th 2014 about 4:45 p.m. I get on line and waited to be help because I wasn't sure if the address I print from Ebay was correct, so when I was call to be Help and ask her if that was the right address, she said that she cannot look to see to find the address I needed to send my box. And instead of helping me to find and address she look at my postage and said that I was cheating the Postal Service for not using the right postage, so I told her this is what I print from my Ebay account and told her that I put in the weight, length, width, height and this is the price that it give me. I told her that since I buy with an Ebay account my rate is different. She wanted me to pay 71.00 on top of my 18.00 I was already charge. So after all this I took my business to UPS. The charge me a lot less. And I've been happy with them. SO long USPS. Loss an other costumer read more
