MOnrovia has a wonderful Post Office. I have only been here a few times from the time I had mailed letters and gifts from here in the past. Long lines occur on busy days. Plenty of city parking. I witnessed supervisor Matthew Spicer speaking to employee Shay in a rude and harassing manner. Shay had a customer waiting for assistance, and the customer became upset with Matthew. After the customer left, Matthew began pacing back and forth and told Shay not to call him up anymore to help customers. When I spoke up and told Matthew that his behavior was unprofessional, he responded by telling me not to speak to him. read more

I drive a few miles out of my way to visit the Monrovia Office for all of my Post Office needs . So many times before I've tried to handle those needs in an Arcadia or Temple City office and I've left in frustration after a lengthy wait and bad disposition on behalf of the clerk at the counter. I watched as many people entered and exited this P. O. And I assumed there may have been a long line ahead of me, once I entered the building , but I was surprised to see the few people ahead of me were in and out ahead of me in a jiffy. As the customers exited the counter space (Vanessa) the Clerk would immediately usher over the next person and she stamped or sorted the prior customer's mail as I approached the counter. She warmly greeted me and thanked me for waiting ( briefly at worst) and diligently asked how she could help me . I was expecting her to point over to the desktop with all of their forms (neatly lined up) when I inquired about sending government payments and checks to the I. R. S. Vanessa took all of the quess work out of my inquiry and knew exactly what I needed to do and before I even knew it .. I was out the door and on my way. Terrible, sent a registered / certified letter from my post office is So. CA. to a business in Monrovia. Never received the return receipt because the Monrovia Post Office, unlike every other post office in the USA, does not bother to sort out return receipt required mail. So, since this is a legal matter and I needed proof the business received my letter the Monrovia Post Office, through their negligence did not detach the green card and return it to me! read more

Had a problem with carriers leaving notes saying our car was blocking the box. It wasn't. Carrier rude when asked why were getting notes when there were no problems for decades. Was rude then claimed I made them feel unsafe and blocked my mail. Supervisor then lied to backup the carrier. Postmaster missing in action for months. I wish there was another option cause even if I use Amazon, UPS, etc. they will occassionally send using USPS. read more

Your typical USPS. But I feel like they are going above and beyond in their handling of this Coronavirus crisis! They have taped the floor well to indicate how to keep 6 feet apart and their staff are very cognizant in enforcing the social distancing among the customers. Cudos to you for keeping our town as safe as possible! This location is always very clean and relatively well staffed and stocked of supplies. My only complaint and reason for 4 stars is that they do not offer tape...I only needed like one or two pieces of tape for a box and they made me buy a whole roll. But not a big deal...I'm sure they need support during these trying times like everyone else. read more

My previous reviews of this horrible establishment were removed. Two days ago I went in to pick up a package I received from Amazon that was mailed to my PO Box. Thankfully they had it in the back for me. This was a first. When she returned to give me my package she asked for my ID. I gave it to her and she then returned with a stack of mail that dated back to January to which had been withheld for this entire year! Despite repeated attempts to collect the mail pieces from them and the fact that I have a PO Box inside the post office! Steer clear of these criminals. They've caused me enormous problems and I intend on filing suit as a result. I'd seriously recommend getting informed daily delivery so you know every mail piece you should be getting cuz these people don't give a damn. read more

This has to be the worst post office There is always only one guy working. Who can never help if there is a bigger issue than just sending a letter. Waited for more than 30 min. To be told the supervisor is late. The only person who apparently has the right eyes to look for a package. Dropped of my pkg on Tuesday and it is now Friday and no tracking or info provided. They don't know where it is or how to find it. He told me they don't scan the packages and they just haven't scanned it yet. Haven't scanned it.!!!! How do they know where it is or where it is going. Drive Thru, Drop Off Mailboxes, yes!!! It gets five stars mainly for this. I have yet to deal with the main post office. I'm so glad that Old Town Monrovia still has this feature. Best of all, it has its own drive thru lane without interfering with the post office's parking lot (there's also free, street parking too). When the post offices that I usually go to in Arcadia, Temple City, Pasadena, and San Marino discontinued it, it broke my heart. I know Monterey Park still has one post office that has a drive thru drop off mailbox, but that drive thru area, you gotta be careful of pedestrians as well as drivers coming in and out of the parking lot, yikes! Plus, that's the furthest one from me as opposed to Monrovia. Having this feature saves me a lot of time. The conveniences of being able to drop off a letter or two on my way to and from work, or on weekends, without having to get out of my car, and/or especially, when it rains. Furthermore, I don't have to look for parking unless I actually need to go in there to mail off a bigger package or get something certified. So yes, thank you, City of Monrovia & Old Town Monrovia for still keeping feature, I heart thee!!! read more

The front desk agents especially the older ones talk way too much when theres a long line. They are slow, and Ive seen them be very rude to customers as well as experienced their attitudes myself before. There is not enough help here when its a busy location, not to mention they just dont seem to care. The employees that are there have been for a long time and shouldn't be. This location is conveniently located on the corner of Ivy & Palm, right by the heart of Old town Monrovia. The office is large and they always have the Priority boxes & envelopes stocked. It's clean but sometimes the drop of boxes are out of order which can be a bit of a bummer when you have stuff to mail after hours. There's parking on both streets and there's a very useful mail drop off drive through- just beware, you can't fit large packages in the blue mail drop boxes! read more

Given recent talk about the post office needing support, I've made concerted efforts to utilize as many of the services offered. However, the customer service at this post office is seriously lacking and the postage machines for self service are constantly out of order. Any question beyond paying for postage requires staff to ring a manager who is equally as unhelpful. Arcadia post office is a better option. read more

It's no wonder the USPS is going under. It is staffed by nincompoops who have no incentive to do anything to improve the "customer" experience. This particular post office has now lost a second package I sent... This one had a gift card in it-- and although tracking demonstrates that it was lost by them... There's not a damned thing I can do because I didn't pay their insurance to deliver the package--- their primary function. I'm contacting the Postal Inspector and filing a claim, but there's no indication anything will be resolved. So attention USPS-- I'm done with you! I will use UPS and FedEx for ALL my correspondence and mailing moving forward. I'm done buying stamps, I'm done sending eBay sales with USPS, and I sure as heck am done with standing in your lines of despair so I can ultimately get treated like an inmate, then give you money for the valuable service of losing or stealing my property. read more

I am surprised to see that the overall rating for this post office is 2.5 stars (at the time of this review). This post office is located in a residential area, very close to Old Town and right across from Clover Middle School. Parking is only available on the street and generally hasn't been a problem for me. Anywhere from 2 to 4 windows will be open and so service is usually faster than the post office in Duarte. I have always had friendly service from any of the postal employees. Just to let you know that there is a weigh machine at this post office. So you can weigh your packages/ letters even when the post office is close. You can also purchase postage from this machine, but there is a minimum for $1 purchase in order to get your postage (you could always use a few extra forever stamps right?). read more

I love this post office! The staff is always super professional and kind! Lines are sometimes a bit long but manageable. They have a kiosk in the lobby where you can get stamps and send packages. They also have a drive thru which is really convenient!! I also enjoy the fact that I can walk here from my house! read more

Update: Make that 5 gate handles. Even tried reinforcing the latest handle with gorilla glue for the fourth handle and switched to rope for the fifth handle. How do you snap a rope? lol read more

Nice people, great location - lots of street parking. I usually just use the self service machine, but if I need some help, the counter people are super friendly and helpful. I even got my kids' passports done here, in less than 15 mins, in and out. LOVED IT. read more

I've been going to this location for over five years now. Most clerks are very friendly and knowledgeable, however the African-American lady -- not sure of her name (at this location) is constantly rude, lacking in knowledge and if she makes a mistake, she takes no ownership of it. I realize people have bad days but there's no excuse for constant rude and apathetic behavior. On a side note: There is one clerk that has always went above and beyond the call of duty. A very nice Hispanic lady (with fun-colored hair -- not sure of her name) who's extremely knowledgeable and helpful; but unfortunately it's not enough for me to come back. I really hope that this location can revive customer service ideals and become a more pleasant experience. read more

How can someone change the entitled workers at a federally subsidized business to actually do their jobs. I applied for a post office mail box because people were and still are stealing mail from my mailbox from homes in this area. I have had my PO Box since 2017 and have continued to pay the ever increasing fees which seem absolutely ridiculous. Think for a second I am paying for the post office to do less work and save time and money to deliver my mail into a box just feet from where it comes into there facility instead of having them drop it off at my house. The kicker is that the rates at which they charge me keep going up, not only do they keep going up they now lock the facility so I can no longer get my mail if I can't get there on time before they close the doors. At first the facility was open 24 hours, then closed at 10pm. When asked why I was told by one little prick that they started locking the doors because the homeless people were stealing mail. Are you flipping kidding me! The Monrovia post office is less than a block away from the police department and there are no cameras in the facility. The whole purpose for getting a po box was to keep from having my mail stolen. Wait it gets worse the powers to be have decided to close the doors at 8pm. So those who work the post office is open and get home right at 8pm like I do are screwed. I cant get my mail until the weekend in most cases. Wait it get worse... last night I get off early and arrive at the post office at 730pm only to find it closed. Why, because some lazy POS worker wanted to get home early instead of doing their job. I walked around and pounded on the back doors until they asked me what my problem was. My problem is that I am sick and tired of dealing with these lazy entitled I can't be fired post office workers. I have yet to see the cost of a stamp go down in my life time. I am sick and tired of paying more for less. It is time they allow a nonFederally funded company take over the fiscally irresponsibility bozos running this sinking ship and allow a private company take over that can be accountable to the people and fire the under performing workers read more

The staff have always been very pleasant. It is sad to see such low ratings here. Seems like only people who complain come on here to leave a review. So I thought it Fair to give positive experiences a chance. The only downside to this location are the hours. Not sure when opening at 10am became a thing. I always recall the Post Office being open by atleast 9am. But other than that......I have always dealt with smiling faces and warm demeanors every time I come in there. They do a great job and it usually isn't very busy. The one time I had a package not get delivered they were able to track exactly where the postman had delivered and he went back to retrieve our package and get it to the rightful owner. They were apologetic and got to the bottom of it quickly. Attitude is everything and when you go in all angry when something like this happens it does nothing for either party. Keep a cool head and understand people work in the post office and sometimes mistakes happen. Be kind and it is amazing the type of response you get! Keep up the great work folks! read more

Unfortunately, only 1 of the mail got return for postage and the other one get lost. Now I have to pay penalty for IRS. Anyone do not come to this post office. I'd really be giving zero stars at this point! Today 08/27/16 my doorbell rings, it's the new neighbor across the street who moved in very recent from Anaheim. Has a "priority" box in his hands, says is this yours? I confirm name/ address "yes it's my jewelry my husband sent from Lake Tahoe" thank you! The postman delivered it yesterday. Even if you pay$$ to have it shipped and it supposed to get to you, think again! This post office always gets it wrong. I've had numerous times holiday cards have been lost, Ck stubs lost, prescription meds to neighbors the list continues. They do train/supposed to pass a test, right? Wrong! Maybe they need the help and just pass anyone? The new neighbor who just moved in says he's forward his mail from previous address to his new Monrovia home, he's not receiving his mail, it's going bk to the old Anaheim address. I've complained and spoke to mgrs. in person and on the phone, nothing has changed! This is unacceptable when our route is short. Different mail carries everyday, somebody should look at this route and pay better attention. Our new neighbor was nice and honest enough to cross busy foothill bl. & bring it to me. The postman's job is to bring it to me/ we pd for it! There will be no next time. Ups, FedEx or anything else will be better. Pay a few $ extra to get your packages delivered properly. Hi folks, I normally do not write review whether the service is good or bad but the service at Monrovia Post office was poor enough for me to write one. I get two days off a week and I decided to visit the post office on one of them. I lost my passport and I require a new one in order to travel. I am not sure why this particular Post office offers this service if they do NOT like to do it. I went in The Monrovia Post office as soon as I walked in I saw a sign stating passport service. So I waited in front of the desk where you are supposed to. 15-min passed by I am still waiting keep in mind there is staff people looking at me knowing what I am there for every 40 sec they look at me and still no one helps me. Another 15- pass and I am still waiting. I am well aware that they close the passport service at 3pm the time was now 2:30pm ( Thursday Jan 10 2013). I felt as if they were waiting for 3pm in order for them to help me and if so were they planning to simply say " the time is now 3pm passport service is closed?" After the long wait I decided to leave and visit a different post office in Duarte CA. I arrived at 2:45pm and they manage to get me in and out with in 15 minutes (yes, I had all paperwork ready to go). Long story short, Do not visit the Monrovia Post office for passport service, unless you have multiple hours to spare. I was very disappointed especially since they are my local office. Staff are lazy and do not care about customer service. I am not surprise they have 2 stars. read more

They have a Automated Postage Service (APS) but not a drop off! For a long time there was a drop off box,which, was broken for the longest time and now totally gone. I can not believe they can not fix a simple mechanical box, wow!!! Not sure, if it is because of tardiness or incompetence. Our Mail Courier Dung is the best in Monrovia. He is polite and is definitely skilled at his profession. Not sure why he has not been promoted to run the office in Monrovia because he seems to have strong skills and understanding of how to provide excellent customer service.
