I'm from Vietnam, I don't know why are so many haters here but just let you know that ruin other people or business's reputation is just the action that condemn yourself that you are throwing your emotion anger to people that work hard for transporting your item. If you don't like their service then just switch to other area that could satisfy your standard. They did flawless job regardless of how people leave negative feedback for their attitude, I just received my item after the seller sent my rog maximus through this store for last 2 days. Wage per hour is quite terrible, my personal experience about this type of low wage job gained me another aspect to them and understand why they are sometimes have improper attitude. At any rate, I'd give them 5 stars or above if I possibly could, their working quality is undeniable, we should look at their positive side instead of keep focusing too much about negative sides. read more

I like going to this location on Nevin AVE. because it's the closest to me and not so busy. I've been going there for a good 15 years. To be honest the customer service sucks. The Clerk that is mainly there is always very rude with a bad attitude. You can tell she has her select favorites. She is also very rude to those who have a language barrier. You ask a simple yes or no question and she answers with the worst attitude. She should not be positioned in the front dealing with customers face to face on a day-to-day basis. This may be the most important job she's ever had and she seems to hate every bit of it. Her attitude rubs off on the other employees. read more

Poor services and attitudes. Passport services. We were there for 2hrs early before the appointment. Just in case we miss out on something, we still have time. One of the employees told us to earl wait outside the glass door. After almost 2hr, after 4 groups of people, she finally called me inside and found out I didn't have the printout. Then I drove back home, got the printout, and went back there. The other employee told me that the passport service employee canceled my appointment because you were 5mins late. And she was gone already. By my observation, services take 15-30mins to complete(case by case). Why cancel us in 5mins? And I did not get any basic customer service. They just had us wait there for almost 2 hrs and canceled on us after all--everything they said was just cold, and no empathy at all. read more

I'm really surprised the reviews for this post office are not 5 stars. The lines go quickly and the staff here have always been professional, cheerful and caring when we come here. In fact, We always go out of our way to come to this post office whether we are in Pinole, El Cerrito or the Richmond Post Office on San Pablo Avenue. The workers who helped me seem to not like their job. There is a lot of negativity when you walk in, it seems that they don't like me because of my skin color, she was with that ugly attitude, telling me that my appointment was already canceled 2 minutes ago and she didn't want to help me. After me, a lady of the same skin color as her walk in, but she treat her very well, she greeted her and everything, you easily realize that there are preferences. She was like "no miss, you have to make your appointment online again" and at first she told me that she was going to help me reschedule it" and when I left the two ladies started laughing. I was on a chase trying to pick up my package as it said it is available for pick up. I first went to the annex location and without checking my tracking number, the lady told me the item is in a truck already so I left thinking maybe they will deliver to my house that evening. I waited and nothing so I decided to go to this location the next day. I told the lady at the counter and she asked for my tracking number and told me that it left the facility that morning so I would have to wait until the mailman delivered that day. The lady was nice and assured me that my package would be delivered that afternoon and that the system is a bit delayed. I felt better knowing that my package was enroute to my house even though I left empty handed! read more

Sandy is a SUPERSTAR at the US Postal office in the passport section. She was so wonderful to work with, extremely professional, kind, and caring. She went through our daughter's first time minor application photo very thoroughly and made sure the photo met the requirements. Sandy then helped take another photo because the one we had wasn't great. She is the best photographer and got our baby girl to smile. Go to this post office if anywhere in the vicinity! They're friendly here and it's often less busy than El Cerrito. Plus, it was in danger of being closed by the USPS a few months ago due to lack of business. The way USPS works is the locations will get more funding and justification to stay open the more items that they intake. Downtown Richmond needs to have a post office for civic-ness, convenience and revitalization. Instead of going to El Cerrito, I now try to go to this post office whenever I can. The female passport clerk was so rude. She yelled at a minor customer who arrived on time for her appointment saying "my break starts in 15 minutes I'm not going to waste my time on you, you have to reschedule". Going through all the reviews I see why this store has a very poor rating. If you can go to a different location, do that. These employees need to be trained and be taught some customer service skills. I came in 15 minutes before closing on an errand for work. I had a somewhat complicated stamp purchase, and I definitely needed some guidance to help me get what I needed. Lavette was super courteous, helped me count out all totals, solve my problem and had a sense of humor about it all. Another woman sitting behind the counter was also friendly and jumped in our conversation before another customer came in. There was no line when I came in, but when I left there were about 5 people in the lobby. As I was leaving I heard the next customer being greeted on a first name basis. The staff are rude and discriminatory towards the disabled. My first experience bringing in a service an animal I was told I needed documents for my little poodle puppy Louie or I could not come in and under California law it is illegal to request paperwork. Then just today I was kicked out for simply cutting a priority mail sticker and using it to try to mail something 1st class. Aside from the waste they made me produce these people were caught in another spat with a customer just before I arrived. Incompetence, rude, discriminatory and probably self-loathing that they must hate their jobs to be so rude. The worst type of employees. I rarely go to the Post Office and this is my first time to go to this one as I recently moved in the area. Lavette at the window was very rude. When my husband and I came up to her window, she pointed at the woman behind us and said, "was she here first?" in a very accusatory tone. We will never cut in line. Then when I asked if I can get a receipt, she rudely said, "you'll get one when the transaction is complete." She has no sense of what a good customer service is. She should be trained. read more

I walked up to the counter, immediately the post office customer service (Charlene) criticized my face mask, saying you wear a ventilated mask which is no good to reuse once you use it once. She handed me a page of health awareness notice. But she has no gloves. I asked if she will take my stamped mail along with the priority mail that I am getting Stamps. She said my envelope weighted whatever lbs. I said this is flat weight. She said no and charged me almost $9. She also refused to take my mail, saying it will be against the law to take my mail at the counter. She said I have to walk out and put that into the mail collection box. This place is one of the worst post offices ever. There is one good clerk there who is friendly to Caucasians and the others obviously prefer not to deal with them. The lobby hours are short and if you have a PO Box there they don't really put the mail up at all before at least noon. Most post offices have mail in box by 10am. Not sure why you can't get decent postal service anywhere in Richmond but it's definitely a challenge. read more

Normally I don't write reviews and I let this go, since I woke in customer service, but my interaction with front clerk "Lavette" was very unpleasant. I had to ship a package and I needed guidance, not knowing what forms to fill, cost, or other basic information. Lavette was very short, unwelcome, did not smile once when interacting with me, and she was very short with her answers that made me feel stupid. I kept my cool and continue to be cordial and tried to make conversation but Lavette was nothing but dismissive. I had to move aside to fill forms for my package and as other customers kept coming Lavette service changed as if she was profiling and choosing who got better service from her. This made me so uncomfortable and wondering if it had something to do with the way I was dressed or even my nationality. I definitely do NOT recommend this post office and if you must try to avoid Lavette. read more

Made a passport appointment weeks ago. Have to go in person because the passport is for a minor. Both parents must be present and miss work, kid needs to be taken out of school early, a whole production. Today (day of the appointment), I get a call that it's been cancelled because the passport person had an emergency. I asked when will the appointment be rescheduled for? The woman told me to go online and make a new appointment. I explained that I made this appointment weeks ago and it was the first available within 40 miles -- if I make an appointment for another three weeks from now, my kid won't see her grandparents this winter break because of how long it takes to get a passport. After trying to convince me that I should just figure something out, rather than rescheduling the appointment, she PROMISED to call around if she can get us in elsewhere and to CALL ME BACK. She DID NOT call me back and the office isn't picking up the phone. I've tried over and over. The passport review prior to this one (from two weeks ago!!!) suggests that the passport person has been out for months, but the office "forgot" to cancel the online scheduler, so people keep showing up and being told the passport person is not in. This rings true, because it explains why the woman this morning refused to reschedule me in Richmond. If true,, then the complete disregard of the people in this office for other humans is astounding. They could have fixed this for weeks, but let people wait around for appointments that don't exist? Even if this isn't a months long problem, the position of this office is still completely unreasonable and disrespectful. Shame on them! read more

I am a guitarist and I recently moved to Hawaii from New York. Bringing my large pedalboard on the plane wasn't really practical so I figured I'd have my folks ship it out to me. Used parcel post to save money and it still ended up costing me like $65 with insurance and everything. Well that was a mistake. An essential piece of my gear for working is now stuck in the black hole that is the Richmond USPS facility. Like others have said, a LOT of packages going to Hawaii from the mainland pass through this god forsaken place. Now it seems that this place is pretty disorganized and unaccountable to begin with, but add to that the fact that the USPS as a whole is penny-pinching out the wazoo, and you get a situation like this: THEY WILL NOT SEND A SHIPMENT OUT TO HAWAII UNTIL THEY HAVE COMPLETELY FILLED THE SHIPPING CONTAINER. So if I have something sent to me and it's the first package to go into a fresh new shipping container, then that package will sit in that container until they've filled the container completely. This can be weeks, sometimes over a month. The band I'm working with is about to get extremely busy, so is the USPS going to pay for the rental gear I'm going to have to use in the meantime? I only gave this lame place 1 star because I couldn't give it a BIG FAT ZERO!!! This will be a rant because the Richmond USPS doesn't give a rip what I say about them... I have two packages that I'm still waiting for their delivery. One was a book I purchased from Amazon, that the seller sent on March 2, and the other was a parcel bought through eBay and sent on the 5th. It is now March 25th and neither have arrived. Both were tracked to the Richmond USPS sort facility, and now it's supposedly "in transit". BS!!!... Unless "in transit" is code for "I stole your stuff and I'm reselling it on eBay" This isn't the first time I've had a package mysteriously go missing at this pathetic place. The only explanation that was available was found on the Internet. The explanation goes like this: packages going to Hawaii through USPS's Richmond facility are shipped in a container. Once the container is filled, it's put on a ship and it makes it's way across the 3000 miles of Pacific Ocean, where it goes to the Honolulu sorting facility, then to your local PO, or mail box, and finally arrives in your happy little hands! Here is where I call BS! Even if that stupid story is true, you can't tell me it takes several weeks, or sometimes longer than a month, to fill a container with packages going to Hawaii, and then ship it via boat...! It's called inept, second rate, in efficient, and unaccountable. I've had boxes sent from Hong Kong, Seoul, Tokyo, and Canada get here WAY faster than these jokers. Too bad the Richmond sorting facility makes the rest of USPS look bad! Update: the Amazon package came in on the 27th (25 days), but I'm still waiting for my other box... read more

Ordered an item from ebay on the 27th of August, arrived at the Richmond post office on the 7th of September and that is it !!! No movement of the package in the last week.......this is insane. I've sent packages from here in Hawaii to the Philippines that have gotten there faster. It truly boggles the mind how a facility can be so poorly run and managed, if it were up to me based on all I've now read about this place, they would all be fired!
