This post office is possibly the slowest in San Diego. I had a pink slip to pick up a simple package(you would think 20 minutes max), and it took 45 minutes. I went through the line twice and the two ladies working kept telling me to wait over there by the wall. The line was long and they had no since it urgency to get people on their way. Good thing the gentlemen working this morning helped me get my package after I was pushed back and told to go to window 1. That would have been nice to know the first time I went through the line. The two ladies there were rude, period. Like I said before the one gentleman there was actually doing a good job this morning. Really great neighborhood post office. Employees seem to really be interested in customers and not just trying to sell you a book of stamps. They know all the regulars and I've heard them asking about kids/parents/family events. Even when there's a line it goes quickly.... Wish this was still my post office but they moved me to another one on midway drive. read more

I'm irritated when I have a package prepaid for delivery but I still have to wait in an endless line with only one or two Postal Workers working behind the counter. Then there is the customer who brings in her multiple packages to have them packaged by the postal worker. Kick them out of line and tell them to come back when they are ready to ship the already packaged package. Unions are the reason the Post Office is such a losing organization, in addition it is a governmental business. (Heaven help us) Just look at our state and federal governments. read more

To expand on my previous review, I'd like to provide more details about the atrocities of my experience at this post office. Previously, it was just too upsetting for me, but it needs to be told. I have a small service dog. He is a well behaved, trained and registered service animal. He is a small 7 lb Chihuahua, and he goes everywhere with me. I always carry him and he is always well behaved and quite. In fact, the only time he barks is when he senses something from me that indicates the onset of a seizure. When he alerts me I am able to protect myself by sitting down on the ground and away from other objects and people. Without him a seizure could occur with no warning and I could fall and injure myself. It's scary, and embarrassing, and very real. And just having him with me and that peace of mind gives me courage to go out and do things like normal, such as going to the post office. Except when I visited this location (it was about 2 blocks from my home at the time) I was shocked and sickened by how the employees behaved. After waiting in line, I approached the counter. No one had even noticed my service dog held in my arm until then, that's how small and quiet he is. But the "lady" at the counter told me I needed to leave because pets were not allowed. I politely told her it was alright, he is not a pet, he is a service animal. She "informed" me that he was not because he did not have a vest. I politely advised her that service animals are not required to wear a vest, and they are not required to have any identifying markings or badges. She continued to scold me. I told her that just because I have a disability, I am not required to visually tag myself so that everyone that sees me will know I am not normal, just so I can stand in line at the post office. It's already embarrassing enough as it is. I deserve to be treated like anyone else. Her voice raised as she continued yelling that I was a liar and refused to look at the documentation I had in my wallet (service dog registry ID and doctors notice). Shocked by how hostile this person was, I informed her "I'm not one to file a lawsuit, but the next person she harasses may be." She looked at me right in the eyes with a smirk and arrogantly said "Try it." I told her she was acting in direct violation of Federal Law. She claimed that the post office was above Federal Law. Seriously. Eventually, after being humiliated in front of everyone in the lobby, she took my package that I was shipping and told me that she wanted me to understand that next time she would not serve me. Mysteriously, my package never arrived at its destination. About a month later I had to return to this location because I didn't have time to drive across Clairemont to a different post office before they closed. Nervous and scared, I decided to return because I had a shipment that needed to be rush shipped that day. I was standing in line, quietly minding my business and waiting my turn. This time the manager of this post office saw me holding my quiet little service dog while he was helping another customer. He began yelling at me from behind the counter. He was so angry that it was difficult to understand what he was saying. He was telling me that only seeing-eye dogs were allowed in the lobby. He then came around the counter and began to physically remove me from the post office, pushing me out the door. I said he was mistaken regarding the rules, and he assured me it was written in the statement of rules on the wall, I managed to break free and ran to the rule sheet on the wall and began to read it out loud to him. It made no such statement as he had claimed. By this time both of us were yelling while everyone else in the lobby, customers and employees watched in silence. He approached me and tried to grab me and remove me again. I asked him for his name and he refused to give it, so I ran to the counter asking the clerk to give me the managers name and she refused as well. I left and went home, and was still trembling an hour later. I am still disgusted with how blind and mean they were, and I'm also saddened and disappointed by how all those other customers in the lobby could stand there and not say anything. They just quietly watched me get yelled at and refused service and then dragged out of the building, while they stood in line to send out there packages. Looking back, as stressful as it would have been, I wish I would have sued the s#!t out of that place, simply to prevent the next disabled customer from having to experience that treatment from these horrible people. I hope justice, karma, or whatever serves them right. read more

Again???? Since I moved to Mission Valley 3 months ago, I have already had 4 packages lost, returned to sender or marked as "delivered" when it actually wasn't. I work from home and receive packages daily, so I'm always here. I usually avoid USPS as a shipping option unless its the only choice. I really don't what is going on with their delivery drivers at this location. Based on all the negative reviews and personal experiences, this has got to be the WORST location in all of San Diego county, along with the most disgruntled workers. I know this post office gets a bad rep but i've had wonderful interactions with the staff. After a mix up with a package that wasn't able to be delivered Jesus H assured me it'd be no issue to come grab it. Not only did he help me figure out what happened with my package but he allowed me to come after hours to grab it. Worst post office in the city. They lost my three week mail hold and no account for what happened! The manager was a useless man that had no idea which of his two subs screwed up the route. I went there twice, filed complaints, opened a mail theft claim and asked to have the local offices investigate the issue. Never heard back from anyone! This is why the USPS should become privatized and these hacks that work there can all be let go. There is always a line at this place. The service sucks all around too. read more

I messed up last week and I had to get more stamps here so I could mail some Mother's Day cards. There were only three people ahead of me and it still took forever. There were three employees working behind the counter and you would think I would only be standing in line no more than five minutes, well I was wrong. One employee was helping a woman a mail a package, nothing unusual there. The other employee was in the back nearly the entire time I was there. At first I thought she was looking for the guy's package, after awhile I thought she must be waiting for her topcoat to dry. The third employee was also in the back for a long time. Maybe the two employees were playing poker the whole time. Anyway, all I wanted to do was buy stamps! Why doesn't this location have a stamp machine? Why? As previously mentioned countless times, they WILL NOT answer the phone (I've let it ring for 30 minutes now) making it VERY difficult to track down the packages that are claimed to be 'delivered'. However, if delivered properly, it would be in a parcel box or left at my front door. Is it really that difficult to: 1) Read the shipping label, 2) Match the label to the mailbox, and 3) Place the package in the corresponding parcel box/leave a key or leave at the front door? The fact that a 7 year old is capable of performing the preceding 3 steps, but not the current Mission Valley USPS postman is intolerable. Five, yes FIVE packages in the past 2 months have been 'delivered' to my fiancee and I; however, we have no products to show for this "delivery". The USPS postman either sent it back to the shipper or left it at the Promenade across the street. Currently we're on the hunt for a package that was 'delivered'; it's not at the Promenade and was not shipped back to the shipper. I really hope the government dissolves this entity to save us all from unwarranted stress. read more

I came here today to mail some packages and I have to say, I was quite surprised and impressed to see that they have a lobby assistant/manager out front asking people what services they needed to take care of today. She was really really friendly and funny! It seem like she knew her clients very well. She was ACTUALLY helping people instead of the just asking them what services they needed to be taken care of unlike the other lobby assistant at the Mira Mesa location. She wrote on a piece of paper what you needed so that when you go up to the desk, it would be easier and faster to take care of business or "check out". This is definitely an excellent improvement from my last bad experience with this location. 3 cashiers were working as well as the lobby assistant and they all made the line fly by! Very impressed with my experience today and I will probably make the drive to this location more often even though it's out of the way for me. Excellent customer service, friendly employees, and the lines aren't as long as Disneyland! Yay! read more

Worst post office ever. The employees lack customer service skills. The Philippine lady in the counter today was super rude didn't even say hi or acknowledged me. Took my package and printed a receipt and handed it to me and said "next." Who the heck does that being that they are government employees. Geez at least say good morning. I'm sorry you hate your job and if you don't like it, go find another. Rude lady. I first tried to drop off the package then she didn't even touch it. I told her I needed a receipt and not once did she give me eye contact. For all I know, imagine if anyone wants to be a criminal and drop off packages at random these people would not even be vigilant. Scary. No wonder they are going out of business. There is often a very long wait at this post office. I usually expect to spend about 15 minutes waiting in line. Once you get to the front counter, you realize that the service is slow because the staff is thorough. They are courteous to everyone, and extremely friendly to their regular customers (of which I am not). If this location had an Automated Postal Center I would be much happier with it. The nearest one is in Clairemont. read more

Having read the Yelp reviews before visiting this branch of the USPS, I expected to be confronted by armed thugs in the parking lot, pulled out of my car, thrown to the sidewalk, beaten and kicked, then manacled and put in a holding cell for seven days without food or water until my turn came at the front of the line, at which point the postal employees would laugh maniacally and twirl their moustaches while stubbing out cigarettes on my bare skin and driving bamboo spikes under my fingernails. It really wasn't that bad. Actually, I venture to say I had a good experience. There was plenty of parking out front, almost no one in line, and the employee I dealt with was perfectly nice. Maybe I had an atypical experience. Maybe conditions are just better at noon on Friday. I don't know. But my experience would have counted as hassle-free even if I hadn't gone there expecting the worst. Maybe I'll go back and something terrible will happen and I will lower my rating. But for now, I'll give it some props for not being nearly so bad as I was led to believe. read more

It's pretty hit or miss here...I laughed at the reviews that mention no lines...please tell me what times you go to this post office! I always have to wait for at least a few minutes to be assisted. If you get a nice postal person, it's your lucky day...if not, well..they're gonna be snippy and rude and short with you. Frankly, I've found it easier to call ahead (as in picking up accumulated mail from vacation) because then I just call again on my cell when I get there and someone will meet me at the front with all my mail (without me having to stand in those long-ass lines). This local post office is the best! Even long lines (which are rare in my experience) move quickly, and the staff include a few people who remember you, smile and say hello and seem to enjoy their jobs. Did you know the "flat rate" box also is good for sending abroad? I had no idea! You have to pay a lot more than the US rate, but you can pack it pretty full and it's much less expensive than sending a regular box. I'm happy to live near this little gem of a post office. read more

I have the dire unfortunate circumstance of living in this neighborhood. While having nothing but horrible, awful experiences at this post office, I never, ever, ever go inside anymore. I choose to drive across town to avoid the awful people who work there. UNFORTUNATELY, these Federal workers "deliver" my mail. I literally had to get a UPS box because of the ridiculous unreliability of the mail carriers at this location. I have had NUMEROUS packages returned to senders, including amazon, due to the address being incorrect. All packages had the correct address. I had one mail carrier, I believe his name is Juan, come to my home and, not knock on the door like normal people, but POUND NON-STOP in a VERY aggressive manner on the side of my home to get me to come to the door. He never tried knocking, he just walked up to the side of my home and started pounding on it. Like many other reviewers here, I also was ridiculed and screamed at inside the post office (this was years ago before I stopped going there) for being inside with my service animal. Also, like the other reviewers, I agree there is ALWAYS a line out the door and the people who work there are rude and unbearable. Furthermore, like the other reviewers, there is never a manger on site. Of course there is, but the employees there will tell you there isn't one and they refuse to give the manager's name. You know that old tv show/movie cliche where somebody gets a machine or superpower where they can slow down time while they themselves can still move at their normal rate? If you ever get such an ability whether natural or through a device - NEVER test it at the post office. First, you won't be able to tell if it's working properly or not and second, trying to slow down the speed of something asymptotically approaching zero might have some sort of unforeseen catastrophic consequences on our entire universe. The postal workers here are no different in terms of speed. Sucks. Just deal with it. That said, there are a few differences compared to the other post offices within a reasonable radius from me (that I have been to) which make me prefer this location for all my postal needs. First, they have their own parking lot and a large one at that. If the parking lot ever gets too full you can always park at the Thuan Phat Supermarket and just walk on over. There are also not a lot of other businesses right next to it and it is not in a high traffic area. Also they are open a little later on Saturdays than the ones near me that I've been to. Your mileage as always, may vary - I avoid the peak hours. Like the plague. read more

I've been using this post office since 1995, & it would be rare if any of the ladies working there ever smiled, said thank you, or didn't make you feel like you were intruding. One time after standing in long line, I had multiple mailings & bought some stamps. I walked out w/o the stamps not realizing until next day that I didn't have them. Went back & asked for supervisor who asked postal clerk who said she gave them to me. The lines had been out the door & she says she remembers giving me my stamps! She lied. Another time the postal delivery person lost 4 prescription meds that showed up in my mail box a few months later. Last week I received a prescription med that was smashed to pieces with a note from PO apologizing, hoping it wouldn't inconvenience me, etc. Went to PO today & talked to supervisor who said that the PO received the package like that. I asked how he would know that, & he smiled. They leave packages a few feet from street rather than bringing them in closer to my house. I have three neighbors that have all had problems w/this PO. Very sad, but you can't hope for good customer service from the USPO. read more

Fast service. There was a line but all the counter is occupied with a person, it made the waiting a breeze.

I came in at 10am on a Thursday and there was hardly no lines which worked out for me. Karen at the front desk was very helpful, kind, and smiley. She gave me instructions on how to fill out the Express Mail and made sure the mail would arrive on time. She also informed me on how to track the order as well. Eli the supervisor and Ms Shlisa deserve a shout out for an amazing customer service they recently provided. Our company has just changed location and we were expecting an important package, the package was delivered to the old mail box associated with our new suite number, I had to call the customer service number for USPS, after almost 3 hours of hold, I was told I would receive a call back from the local post office, I received a call from Eli the next day who was very patient , understanding and upon being made aware of the time sensitive nature of the documents , Eli and Shlisa went out of their way to make sure the package got delivered to us and even called to update us throughout the entire process.
